Satellite P750 (PSAY1A) - How update the recovery partition?

Now that I found out that using the recovery on a new HARD drive would create the recovery Partition... comes the question... How do I update the recovery partition.

My Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022) the factory settings has 132 update of Windows that should be applied during the first pass. I had to run Windows update 4 times before she shows "up-to-date". Not to mention drivers Toshiba as well.

I also want to include some applications (Microsoft Office and other software and utilities)...
Overall, I spent 2 days just to bring it t the State I want in.
But I can't just access the recovery Partition (of the less any of this!)

If you look at disk management, the recovery Partition is not a Volume name and that the file system is empty. If I right click on the recovery partition... all I see is "Help" Option

I tried to assign a drive by using Diskpart letter... but it doesn't show much.
My guess is that it is GBT/EUFI.

Does anyone have experience updating the recovery Partition?

What do you mean by update recovery partition?
The recovery partition should NOT be touched!

In which case you'd change the partition, the HARD drive recovery process could not be started!

Probably, you have not understood the meaning of such a HARD drive recovery procedure.
It's the option provided by Toshiba and the recovery of HARD drive allows you to establish the notebook to factory settings; on the same State as at the first day of the purchase.

  • Satellite P750 PSAY1A: how to create the recovery Toshiba on the new HARD drive partition

    Hello

I have an old Toshiba Satellite P750 (PSAY1A-01Y022). I just upgraded my memory from 4 GB to 8 GB and am preparing to take my 500 GB HARD drive 1 TB. I had to order the disk online and wait to happen.

I always try to understand how to create the arrival of my new HARD drive Toshiba Recovery Partition. I do the same thing for an old book, I handled based on something similar to it's original factory State.

I have reflected on the recovery partition, but does not know how it was created. It is not NTFS. Does anyone have experience in the creation of a Toshiba Recovery on a new HARD drive Partition?

And the help is very appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Dinesh

Recovery partition can be created when you use the original Toshiba Recovery disk and install recovery image. Before the partitions to boot OS install will be automatically created, recovery image copied on a recovery and then partition as last step recovery image installation starts.

A sort of migration of files from one to the other HARD disk is not solution.

Only for laptop with factory will work and the usable recovery partition.

  • updated victory 8 to 8.1, how ensure the recovery partition is the same

I have a laptop of 15-E0116AU provided with windows 8 is installed. I've now updated to 8.1, and I was wondering if anyone can confirm that the recovery partition now some how has also upgraded to 8.1.

the upgrade took 5 hours and I don't want to go through that again,

I called HP support and was told that Yes, the recovery partition will recover to 8.1, BUT on microsoft.com site the page says it's not too and any OEM recovery partition will restore the original operating system [which is 8 on my system].

If HP... which is the correct answer please.

I already have a set of recovery discs, if HP doesn't let me do another one with 8.1 upgrade.

    John

The HP Recovery partition will recover your computer to a factory State, including BONES and the original software.

Please use the windows 'backup system image"utility to create an accurate picture of the Windows partition 8.1 as it is currently, on a hard drive external, USB drive or network drive. You will also need to create a disc to 'fix' Windows. If your computer develops questions or you need to replace the hard drive, all you have to do is to "restore" the image on the computer. Please see Windows 8.1 Tip: use System Image backup for instructions on creating and restoring a 'Windows - System Image backup.'

This process is not a system recovery and is different than using the window restore or refresh or HP System Recovery.

  • How can I configure Satellite A300-148 boot from the recovery partition?

    Hello

I had some problems when trying to install MAC - OSX, for her, where the partition table is deleted, then I retrieve the entire score as it is, but I can not start in any case.
Then I decide temproraly install another copy of vista drive Vista (not the partition), then set up my laptop to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall the good copy.
My problem is, it's all here, the only problem is, I need to configure the system to boot from the recovery partition.

    My device is:
    Satellite A300-148

    Thanks to the device.

    Hello

If you have already changed the partitions of HARD drive and deleted files from the HARD disk, then your HARD drive recovery is too bad!

But to make sure that the HARD drive recovery is not possible please press F8 immediately after the power of the laptop. Usually a start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the option called fix my computer. Then you should be able to choose recovery option.

But like I said that this is only possible if your HARD drive was not formatted!

If you have formatted the HARD drive and changed partitions then you will need a Toshiba DVD recovery that you have not because you didn t he create at the beginning. Is this good? Well, then you must order the recovery DVDs if you want to retrieve the laptop to factory settings.

    Welcome them

  • Problems of Satellite C660 - 10 d with the recovery partition

    Hello

I have the Toshiba Satellite C660 - 10 d and has not copied the recovery you had problems with the recovery partition and I lost.

You can order a new disc of recovery here:

  • Satellite Pro C660-225: shrink the recovery partition englarge C partition

When I first came to this product, prior to the opening, I thought that all 500 GB would go to the first partition, but then I saw that the recovery partition has half the 500 GB just for recovery which is unnessecery.

But I had no problem with it at the time and used the recovery (after the backup to a disk) for ubuntu partition, so I have a dual boot.

But now I came to realize that the games I download are taking up more room on my C drive. The problem I have is that I can reduce my recovery partition and expand the C drive.

Does anyone know a work around?

You will need a 3rd party software to reduce the recovery partition and add the partition of the free space in the existing C.
I would recommend a freeware tool called Gparted

But before you start this making, create a recovery disc!
This is recommended in the case where you would try to put the computer laptop configuration using this disc.

  • Satellite L350: Can not access the recovery partition by pressing 0

    Heya

I can not access the recovery on a Toshiba L350 Manager. I tried pressing 0 (zero, two of them) at first to access HD-recovery, but nothing happens. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

The reason why I want to access is:
I have a l350 Toshiba with a partially installed windows here. For now, he gets the "starting Windows" and "instalation program's services began" (in Norwegian) which stops with a popupbox saying: "the computer unexpectedly inexplicable, or an unexpected error has occurred. The site amenities cannot procceed. To install Windows, you will need to click ok to restart the computer. Start the installation process. ».

What started the problem was that during the last part of the installation (after Win7 becomes usable, but above all has been installed), escape was pressed, and the computer has been used normally.

    > I can not access the recovery on a Toshiba L350 Manager. I tried pressing 0 (zero, two of them) at first to access HD-recovery, but nothing happens. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

    I assume you are using a European model for laptop and so you should try it;
-Press on F8 laptop computer power on.
    -Then choose fix my computer
    -Then Toshiba HDD Recovery.

This should allow you to start the Toshiba HDD recovery process.

No, recovering files is read-only. The only time I've seen is file recovery corrupted if HP issues a patch that is capable of writing to them_which rarely occurs.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L450D - 12 X - how to access the recovery partition?

    Hello

I've formatted Windows 7 with a Windows XP CD but did not setup. I wanted to know how to access the recovery partition to set it by default, everything exists on the laptop right now is Ubuntu, but I don't know, I saw an additional partition that must contain recovery files as laptop did not come with a recovery disk and unfortunately did not create a filter.

How can I access the recovery partition on the laptop having in mind, I formatted the drive Windows 7 was installed on or should I activate or something like that?

    Any help much appreciated

    Hey,.

On the second partition of your laptop (data partition), you will find a folder named HDDrecovery and it contains recovery files. The problem is that you can use the HARD drive only with the pre-installed operating system recovery feature. It would mean in your case it s too late now and it s not in use anymore.

You have created the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the user manual? If Yes, you can use this disk to restore to factory settings. Just boot from this CD and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you don t have the recovery disc, you can order it here:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome!

I'm afraid that you can't create partitions of recovery if they are deleted. End users cannot do.

If the computer is originally shipped with Windows preinstalled by HP (OEM of Windows for example), you can buy HP recovery media. They are generally cheap. You can use it to restore your computer to factory default condition. Here's how:

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143

    > > http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

And once you receive the recovery [DVD or USB pen drive] media, here's how to use it to restore default factory/Windows to a condition:

    > > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643

    > > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC3sUc3lr3E

If the computer is originally not is not come with Windows pre-installed, but you install on your own after that, then you need to use the Windows installation media to reinstall Windows. You can get Windows installation ISOs from the Microsoft web site and then burn it to a DVD > > https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8

  • No system boot, how to access the recovery partition?

    Hello
While messing around with win7 and xp (from vista that was preinstalled on my system), I managed to make my computer unbootable.

I made the recovery discs when I came to my computer, but I left with my parents... which is be the other side of the world (literally).

However, I also kept the "recovery partition" intact, I hoped I could start somehow, but I don't know how.
I tried holding down the zero, F2, F8... of other ideas?

If not, is there another way to do it from a live CD? (like the one I currently use to write this message)

    Chris.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to access the files for recovery. It can be done if the laptop has only factory settings. You use updated the system with two operating systems. If you want to have the factory settings again you can have with using the recovery disc only.

I put t know how long it will take but maybe you should communicate with your parents and ask if they can send you the recovery disc as soon as possible.

Otherwise you will have to use the installation disk of Microsoft for clean operating system installation. It can also be good solution for a few days until what you expect of original disc.

  • How to create a bootable DVD/USB since the recovery Partition?

    Hi guys,.

So, I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-141 (of Greece) and my broken hard drive. Unfortunately, I lost my recovery discs. I changed my hard drive, I installed the operating system, but I would like to have my computers it was (with all crapwares... Wink)

I found a guy with the same laptop and it can send the recovery disc. In fact, he has already sent the disc 2 (he sent me two copies of his CD online) that he created when he bought the laptop (by recovery media creator). However, these discs are not bootable and (I read) that you use just them and when you restart the system through the Recovery Wizard. Unfortunately, it has not worked for me (at least with the CD of my friend sent me).

Do you know some way that I can do? I want to get my friend a recovery disk? Can he create an ISO of the recovery partition?

    Any suggestion is welcome!

    Hello

To be honest I n t have experience with such things, but I found very interesting document in the knowledge base of Toshiba - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

There is no need to increase the size of the HP recovery Partition. In fact, this can lead to make non-functional... HP recovery Partition leaving you without the ability to create your recovery HP Recovery Media options or access the HP Recovery Manager or "F11".
