Scam or Dell?

I got a call this morning a Dell technician assumed that my email has been send spam. I was skeptical because I've seen no unusual activity on my email account, my computer was working well and he wanted to take control remotely to solve the problem (refuse simply to guide me through). This is the point where I hung up because I wasn't going to give remote access to my computer to a potential scammer. It seems to me that If my email has been send spam, it would be a problem with my E-mail security rather than my computer itself. My main question is if it was perhaps a legitimate call. I doubt that it was because I received calls from the scam in the past "Employees of Dell", but thought that I post here to see.

  • "Dell Backup and Recovery" asking the upgrade with the inspiron 15 model

    Hello

I'm new to this forum and also started to use the Dell laptop. I bought Dell Inspiron 15 (model 3521) 01-Jan-2014. I am trying to take backup of my laptop on a DVD. When I clicked on 'Backup and restore of Dell' app in app Manager. I try to click on backup system option 'Dell backup and recovery' section, its upgrade premium or enter key. Its not that allows to create backup DVDs.

What may be the issue? Because when I bought it, seller said that his original one.

It's part a scam from Dell.  I've got 5 Dell portable computers/computers / tables all have this software on it with a VERY limited useage then weekly or if I get a pop window op offering the upgrade at a special price which, in the end, is the same price as if you would have just bought or 'improved' (like Dell likes to call it) the program to a regular price which IS : 39.99.

What I hate about businesses, in particular, the one that I spend a lot of money with it, is when they think they can put a quick access on me or in my case 5 times that I have 5 of these upgrade special offer windows popping up each week.

You're better off getting programs like Goodsync which will back up your computer or synchronize your files on an external hard drive, and that you can use on all of your computers for only $29.99.  I use it on my servers and my offices.

Otherwise good luck with Dell and their implementation to special day called 'offer' that is the price of retail, after all.  NOT COOL DELL ALL!

  • My gift card promo do not refund on cancelled order forced

Reference dell is running a scam? I ordered a micro to the store and got a gift card promo, then I used the coupon in conjunction with a Visa gift card and the order was cancelled several weeks later and I was refunded never the gift card.

When I chatted with technical support, they said to call the Finance Department. When I talked to financial management, they told me to talk to the gift card service. When I spoke for the gift card service, they told me to talk to the customer. Customer service myself and then transferred back to financial management. The Finance Department said that the colleague of gift card was not to deal with this problem. When I called the next time I was assessed a "colleague" who told me that the card would be refunded at the end of September 22, he was not. I recalled on September 23 and was told the "colleague" who handled my case was not available and was at a meeting and told me to leave my callback number. I left my callback number and called much later in the day and told me that she was still around. I'll remember today, but I expect a lot more of the same.

This is ridiculous. I really think there is an ongoing scam at dell.

  • SCAM or Virus posing as Dell SupportAssist?

This morning I had a popup indicating that it is Dell SupportAssist, with an "alert" that there was a problem with my PC. I did a quick check on the WEB that SupportAssist is a legitimate and observed program ago installed (or updated) 2 days, on the assumption of an automatic update of Dell.

To continue, the program asked me to confirm ownership by logging into my account of Dell. After that, he asked my name, phone and email to help me with my alert.  Is this normal configured for this tool? Although suspicious, I have provided the information, which seems to hang when I tried to continue.

Now concerned, I started manually SupportAssist, noting that a different interface. I've killed the previous pop-up and changed my password from Dell with a slight hope that I was in time to prevent any spoofing, etc.. I did a scan with SupportAssist and no problems were detected. I ran my anti-virus, but no problems were detected.

The above behavior is normal for Dell SupportAssist? Y at - there no virus known (and how to remove) that appears like this Dell software? I have a XPS 12.

    Concerned...

After the above, I got a Dell legitimate email thanking me to set up my Dell account. Although I opened it a long time ago, the address information has been significantly exceeded, it seems that this alert was simply to ensure that my personal account information has been updated and complete.

While I've heard of scams that ask for personal information and access to your computer, as well as a charge subsequent to solve this problem, the species seems to be legitimate. While SupportAssist looks like it might be useful, it bothered me that has been installed and executed without my consent. It would have been better for Dell to send an email explaining and offering of novelty, so it wouldn't be a surprise.

  • INSIDE JOB "DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT" BASED IN INDIA HAS A SCAM

    Hello

I am writing because I was the victim of what I believe, it's a "Dell inside job" in this scam of technical support for users of computers Dell off warranty or expired support based in INDIA. I've been a customer of DELL since 2003, was always the best technology support without problem, even when I called once about 7 years ago they cleaned up my computer for $49.00 which was ok with me without any problem. I bought an all in one computer in 2012, with 3 years of support. My problem started when I called DELL April 2016 of course didn't help because my computer was not covered, they wanted me to pay $89.00 a service of time, at this time there what I wanted was to get my computer to windows 8.1, I wasn't happy with 10, my computer was working fine. A week later, I started getting calls from ladies with Hindu accent claiming to be from Dell who want to help me fix my computer. I was always busy, and I told them that I not had time to seat 2 hours to do. They called it forth, until the day exactly a 29/08/16 months ago, I had the time to fix my computer slow and accepted their offer. He gave his guarantee Id # DELL9929 its name: Eric Thomas with a Hindu accent, I asked him: are you really from Dell? He reassured me that it was, they were getting signals from my computer that something was wrong. I thought because my computer after this call in April started to have more and more slow. He wanted to have access to my computer which is the only way they can fix it, I gave him access he installed an internet to analyze and clean security program call them KAPERSKY, he began to clear the files etc. According to him clean my computer. I made it clear I was not buying anything, he said no worries we do it because we have too many alerts to your computer. He told me he was going to monitor my computer for a week that he will call me Monday. I didn't go on my bank account or check e-mails because I felt that they looked at me, but instead of Monday he called me on Friday, so I told her that I don't have confidence in him. As soon as I hung up to 02/09/16 I called said Dell TECH SUPPORT what happened, to my great surprise this Hindu guy named Muthu Chidambaram Service Request: 935549938 has acted as he was aware of the scam, told me he's going to clean my computer for $89.00 service time or $239.00 per year. He also told me that I needed better security that he had one that was best for $249.99. I paid the $89.00 did not buy anything, but when I went to the Dell website to find a security software they had some for as low as $14,99 as it was the labor day weekend. I wonder why he tried to sell me one so expensive? As soon as I suspended with DELL, I went into my email to find that I had been charged by PayPal $450,00 leave DEN SUPPORT, called 801-829-7424 # imposter ask my money back either. PayPal and my Bank got my money, but it does not stop there. Why do I say is an inside job? 5 days after calling DELL TECH taking charge on 02/09/16, once again I received a call to a different number I gave only Muthu to contact me in case we were disconnected my phone Earth when it was fix my computer, the guy also Hindu told me exactly the same thing others had said in so many calls : They received signals. After you fix my computer Muthu asked me to respond to his email if I had more problems with my computer. My computer started acting again when I answered by Muthu email because I need help, he never responded, but when I called the 09/09/16 DELL SUPPORT because my computer was not at beginning, they wanted me to pay again, when I asked to speak to a supervisor, Rajeev (name of Tech) told me I had to pay $39.00 to talk to a supervisor which is something that I have never heard in my life, dealing with many companies. I was upset and told him they were running a scam, an inside job of the technical support because everyone involved was based in India, I told Rajeev history and he said that I was going to go further. 13/09/16, I got a call from DELL, a supervisor called Hindu Dave too, not too sweet. I told him about the scam from inside DELL, suddenly, he said: "I can refund your $89.00, you can call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT so they can fix your computer". I got the $89.00. My computer does not work. I'm afraid to call the DELL TECHNICAL SUPPORT because they do the same thing again, their scam's with Dell Support off users guaranteed because they can make money in this way. I think they get a bonus if they sell us more, so our computer will never work as they should, because they want to keep us reminded. If we fall into their trap, like I did, you call DELL to fix our computer every time. A SCAM. They have our computer tag #, all of our personal information. Scary. I think the enamel of Muthu, I answered, was something that has infected my computer. Long story, but true.

Read thisand follow the link to report your problem to Dell for investigation.

I just got a call from a man of Middle Eastern sounding who claimed to be Service of Dell's Support and said that they send me a refund for the services I paid for for over a year!  I said, well, since you are with Dell just send it to my address.  He wanted me to go on my computer to give him the information.  NOPE > NO CIGAR!  I know that this is how it starts.  I said try nice and hung up.  Looked on my phone... was not a complete phone #... just 537.  Anyone else get this call?

  • Call Dell technician - scam?

    HI team,

I get calls from days saying they are from dell.

The first call I got, he said, he calls with dell as they get errors reported to the server dell with my machine. He asked to open the laptop and go to eventviewer. Then I asked him to send me an official email from your email from dell to proceed further to be sure. The appeal was abandoned.

Today, I got another call from another number with a person with the Indian accent. He said it comes from dell and call technical support team has been disconnected.

This looks like a scam to me call. How do these guys get this information of the mine. Or is it a real call to dell.

One thing I had recently reached out to dell with one of my technical problem with the laptop and it started a few days ago. It seems that this information flowed after my call with dell team.

Not sure but it looks like...

  • Dell technician scam?

    Hello

I have been called 3 times by someone posing as a Dell technician.  It's the same person.  I got the first call may 27 and the second and third calls on 03/06/16-6/416.

It's the same person.  The person said that my computer was to generate errors and that he had to update my anti-virus software.  I know it's a scam, because I recently graduated College with a certificate as a computer support specialist.  I already have a fraud with the FTC report, but I would like to make a report on the fraud with Dell security also.

Can you please give me a phone number or a website that I will be able to open a fraud case?

    Thank you

Our apologies. Please come back at the top of this map of service USA customer and read the announcement, "scammers pretending to Support Technology Guide»

  • Dell audit scam?

I was approached by an employee of 'dell' [email protected] he asked me to verify that I'm the one who ordered the order of the day, he asked my driver's license or a passport (even though I gave him the address to which the order was to be sent to) then he said I'll cancel it without the license drivers. What! Why would a dell employee need a pilots license clients? I suspected this as a scam, so I immediately called him as a crook that he rΘpondit not come back, but with a message saying missing (really?)

Questions: 1) is a true employee/staff 2: fact I just you're not ripped off by my address? 3: if it's actually not a scam I need another person to contact me about my order and not to cancel it.  I need answers as soon as possible I get really worried

    Hi Apricotgoodness,

Thanks for posting and thank you to beware of suspicious e-mails.

Raghavendra_E_V is a Dell employee and works in our fraud division.  It would be good to verify your account with him.  I wonder many times to prove proof of identity fantasies I present my credit card in outlets at retail, is a common form of verification.

  • Support scam Dell called?

I received several calls from the ADMIN NOTE: number retired by the phone privacy policy > today. I picked up the third call, and a guy named Ashley said that my Dell laptop sends messages to Dell on malicious software downloaded on my laptop. I told her to give me the number of what he done correctly. I called from my landline to this number, and this seemed to be a genuine Dell customer support. This number is also on the website dell as home users in warranty customer.

Ashley asked me ' can you turn on the computer so I can guide you through a few steps? ' and when I did it asked me to press the Windows key + R and then type eventvwr. He said click on custom-> administrative events views and what do you see? I told nothing, even if I saw on errors and warnings of k 14. He hung up soon. Google told me that say your machine has a problem, citing the event errors view is a well known scam.

Is it a scam? I would be very surprised if it wasn't. Can you please review?

I see that a similar problem has been reported here.

It's a scam, and our team Dell securities studies. They are using our real phone number and hiding their phone numbers not Dell. We collect these complaints. Follow the instructions here to check your system and also to give M DELL-Lorna all the data we need to send to our team of securities.

  • Free Dell reference with mobile Xbox scam

I just spent the last hours 3 is pulled around Dell because their online free Xbox offer is fraudulent.  I hung up by the harshest supervisor, told by the main receptionist that she would not transfer me the Sales Department and then recalled withholding of 15 minutes later.  They post a price for the transaction (1399,99) and then add the Xbox in the basket at full price hoping you won't notice.  I have screenshots, impression of the chat dialog box and I hope that 2 hours of taped conversation where he also argued that the $100 discount offers for the PC more than $999 that doesn't expire until June 28 had expired somehow... June 4...  It was a false advertisement after another.  They even offered 5% back for what I had to deal with.  It was so good to them to offer me something that I already receive Dell as a member benefit.  Dell, you have gone downhill.  I find your shameful practices.  I'll be sure to post this situation where I can.

    Hi MelRain,

I received a response to my request for Marketing Communications and they provide clarification on the Xbox offer interested you.

The offer contained in banners on several web pages of Dell says you can receive a free TV OR switch to an Xbox deal. We walk the customer through the calculation of discount combined within several lines in the extraction path. The calculation of the Xbox runs $ 100.  Anywhere we don't mention a FREE XBOX.

I hope this information is useful. Please let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

    Thank you
    Lorna

Almost certainly, it was a scam and with various names and phone
numbers, one that has become very common these days. See

    and

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
If you leave them in your computer, who knows what they were doing or where
    What confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following
    immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

    2. after reinstallation of Windows, change all your passwords.
    especially the banks or other
    financial sites.

Since they have perhaps installed a recorder of strikes, changing just your
Passwords may not be good enough.
