scanning Mac problems

Hello

I just installed the Hp deskjet F4480 all-in-one printer. It seems to print fine, but when I try to scan it says "unknown error." I use a macbook pro, OS X 10.6.4.

How can I fix it?

Where did you get the HP software? If you have loaded the software from the CD for the printer HP and unless your CD says it supports in particular 10.6 Snow Leopard, you need to uninstall the software by using the "scrubber":

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

Restart your Mac

Now run a software update.

Then, remove and reinstall the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.

You do not have the software now since Snow Leopard as well print & scan drivers built-in. scan from Preview apps or Image Capture. Scan from the front panel of the printer does not work yet.

Hello

Thanks for your OS Info!

I checked this for you and found that it is not a complete driver and software available for this type of model of the printer with the Mavericks. However, there are a few options of workaround for you!

Click on the link, select 'How to scan with the Apple Software Update driver?' and you will see the options to scan without the printer software:

• If .cab files to be scanned against problems?

My computer uses Vista. My Avast! antivirus does not scan the .cab files. There are probably 100 + of these files, they require a lot of space on drive C? How can I identify them and their need to remove those who will not compromise the operation of the computer. These files should be scanned for problems

http://www.Tech-Pro.NET/HOWTO-Open-cab-file.html

Above indicates which .cab files do and are.

The CAB files are used because they take less space to store and take less time to send or download. They are also a great way to pack and send groups of related files. However, you cannot run a program directly from a Cab file. The files need to be extracted or unpacked from archive before they can be used.

I wouldn't be deleting.

• OfficeJet 7612 - scanning in the Yosemite Mac problem

Hello

A few days ago, I bought an all-in-one OfficeJet 7612 and from the beginning I am not be able to scan to the computer (only to emails or usb).

It's what I've tried and I get:

1. Install the drivers and full software from the CD provided with the product: It appears to turn on the option scan to the computer . But whenever I try to do, a message in the iMac says: could not establish a connection with the printer.
2. Download the last update on the HP driver support site: He always says that to computer scan cannot be enabled, and that I should download and install the latest driver.
3. Installation using AirPrint printer: It recognizes the printer and even the fax feature, but never the scanner.

I don't no what to do, it looks like there is no full support for my 7612 in Yosemite.

Can anyone help me?, I'm doing something wrong?

OK, I managed to do this work, that's what I did:

1. Uninstall the HP driver through the uninstall program that comes with it.
2. I deleted these two files from the: < youruserhere > /Users//Library/Preferences
• com.apple.print.custompresets.forprinter.Officejet_7610_series.plist
• com HP. DeviceMonitor.plist
1. Restart the iMac (I don't know if that helped, but I did anyway).
2. Install the printer using AirPrint.

I deeply thank RnRMusicMan who was helping me through all this time trying to make this work.

I hope this can help someone who found this problem too.

• scanning mac C4380 WiFi problem

Hello world

I'm having a bad configuration of my c4380 (this is actually the second time) in Mountain Lion.

I cannot install the printer using the Hp software because he told me that my computer should be connected to the same wifi router (it was).

So I installed the printer via the parameters of Apple using Protocol "HP Jetdirect - Socket" (the only one that worked).

I can print. I can't scan. All solutions?

Please, I'm close enough to throw it out the window.

-G369

Yes, adding the printer usuually gives impression just like that.

Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

Restart your Mac.

Reset the printing system:

-Go to System Preferences > print & Scan
-Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign more to add a printer. Select the default tab on the top of the window. Search for the printer, select it, and then beside the dropdown 'Use', select the model of the printer (not AirPrint). Wait for the 'Add' button becomes available. Until it clicks.

• HP wireless & mac problems

Hello, I am a mac user, recently bought a Deskjet 3050 All - in - one J610a, I installed everything like spose to... .i spoke with support from HP on the phone as well... We tried everything, but my mac loses the connection with the printer each time after one or two print jobs... I turn the deskjet printer on and off, go to the system pref (-) and (+) and add the printer. but the connection is not stable. What can I do?

Here is the data on my network printer (when I write the ip address in safari)

wireless network-advanced

WPA - PSK

Automatic version of WPA (WPA1 and WPA2)

Automatic encryption (AES or TKIP)

(there is a check on)-in an infrastructure network use 802. 11b / g behavior.

I don't really understand all that I wrote... just copied information... I can see the State of the printer is reday so the printer seems to communicate with the router as for my Mac... looks like he does not like the new printer.

I'd be happy for some help thanks

Hello, or should I say Shalom?

Any apple device uses Hello to network connectivity...

Hello draws on the mDNS Protocol to send packets to multicast between your Mac and your printer on the network.

I just follow any user guide of the router you are using (both), and it seems the problem most likely caused by your router, which seems unfortunately not bear any IP multicast, a method of communication essential to any Apple device to communicate with other devices on the network.

To be honest, I followed everything available by Hot 3 routers, all seem to be quite minimal and I have not really sure if they met network standards and protocols used by Apple.

In order to be sure that my suspicions are good, I suggest you try temporary set up a direct connection between your Mac and printer, then check if the same behavior still occurs:

First step: restore the network settings on the printer:

1. press the button to display the wireless wireless.
2. in the wireless Menu, select settings.
3. in the settings menu, select restore default settings.
4 confirm the selection to restore the default values.

Second step: put the wireless Radio:

1. press the button to display the wireless wireless.
2. in the wireless Menu, select wireless settings.
3. in the settings menu, select Wireless on / off.
4. in the wireless on / off menu select enabled.

Third step: temporary connect your Mac directly to your printer:

* If you cannot find the printer, make sure that the printer both Macs placed near each other

1. From your Mac, click the WiFi icon
2. Click Join another network.
3. Click Show networks.
4. Select the network name of the printer, which must contain the name HP, 3050 or J611
5. Click on join to connect.
6. Leave 3 minutes to completely establish the network connection.

Now go into System Preferences > print & Scan

Remove any existing queue of the printer.

Launch Applications > CEJA-Packard > utility device > HP Setup Assistant.

Follow the steps to reconfigure the printer via the configured temporary wireless connection.

Try printing and scanning... let some time test and ensure that connectivity remains stable.

If you see a normal behavior by performing these steps, you can contact hot and find any solution they can offer for your needs.

Please let me know of any changes,

• Suggestions from external scan Mac Antivirus

Hi all

Is there a solution out there to scan your computer with an antivirus from a safer source such as a USB key or a location online?

I want especially to scan my computer without fear that my antivirus is infected and therefore corrupt. In the past when I was a kid, it was possible to put a virus on a floppy for the scan at startup for example.

Thank you all!

As there are currently no viruses in wild infecting Macs, there's no need to do.

What makes you think it's necessary?

• Mac problems due to the memory

I have problems with my Mac doesn't turn is not on. He turns sometimes and sometimes does nothing for days. I've read a lot online, and it seems to be the memory of the origin of the problem.

When it's on I went t disc utility and of course there are 499 GB 500 GB used. I started the trash everything. I got up to 310 GB of used memory, but when I click in disk utility there are two levels of "Macintosh". Level 1 - logical volume memory I think it was called is still at 499 but the second level which I believe was called simply logical memory is 300 GB.

I live in Tasmania where there is no official Apple store and authorized service location is closed on weekends so I'm pretty stuck for a few weeks before I can get down to one.

Any advice on how to free up memory on the first level of the "Macintosh" or if it's still causing my problem with the Mac not turn not not on?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

You seem to be talking about the space on your hard drive rather than 'memory '.

Try to boot into recovery mode - if your OS is 10.7 or later - now pressed the command and R keys at startup. Choose utility disk, then run first aid on your startup disk. It is one that is indented to the right and is usually called Macintosh HD.

• Mac problem and slow reel - 10.11.3

Just after the last update, I've done two or three days before, to 10.11.3. on my MBP, early 2011, I have problems with slow Mac, every click and type are followed by 10 to 20 sec, sometimes more, to wait than roulette to finish the "beachballing. Let alone having more applications running - I need to do to the work I'm doing at the moment.

I did a repair disk utility, it fixed a problem of partitioning and improved for an hour or two, but the problem came back.

Also had OnyX check the disk start to set permissions etc. - who also helped but for a little while.

During or after the upgrade began the FileVault encryption (it gets paused if not plugged in power) and it is not yet finished. It's the only thing that happened at the time that I can associate this slowdown of the problem; Although I can't tell if it is related or the origin of the problem.

I wanted to make a Time Machine backup, but knowing there ages and could be confused with this question, I did not yet.

I can hardly use the computer and just hope I can see the answers here. I was surprised that I managed to type a message here. I will try to install EtreCheck, hope it will work and send a report here.

Thank you in advance!

Yes, post your report EtreCheck a step to help us hopefully will fix the bewitching of your computer problem. Before you do it well, you have antivirus programs (AVG, Avira, Avast, Intego, Kaspersky, McAfee, Norton, Sophos, Trusteer, etc) or 'maintenance' apps (AVG Cleaner, CCleaner, CleanMyMac, CleanMyDrive, MacCleaner, MacKeeper, Memory Cleaner, TuneMyMac, etc.) installed?

• HP Officejet 8600 scanning/copying problem

I have a 8600 all-in-one who recently stopped being able to scan or copy. When you run a scan/copy, the page just comes out with vertical lines and black space. I added a screenshot of the results of the analysis, but a copy gives the same. Please help if you have seen this before. I perform firmware updates and gone through the process of resetting due to disconnect.

Rob, sounds like you are having a problem with your analysis. To open, what happens when you make a copy? That will let me know if this problem is hardware related or associated software. Then I know who will be the best way to proceed.

• HP Photosmart C6180, scanning Multipage problem (PC running Windows 8.1)

When I try to scan more than one page, the application of scanner stops working. The preview window shows between 1/3 and 1/2 of the scanned page and I have to restart my computer to be able to continue the scan. Essentially, I'm reduced to the analysis of a page at a time. Please make sure the DPI settings are defined as normal (100%). The HP software are supported 100% DPI

Right-click the background screen area, and then select the screen resolution.
Then click on 'Make text and other items more or less '.
Select "Smaller (100%). ", and then click OK.
"Note: If you see a scale between 'Small' and bigger", check the box 'Let me pick the scale of levels for all my views', then select Smaller (100%)

• Print duplex on Mac problems

I don't seem to be able to find an option button in the printer settings in Mavericks to allow the paper to flip on the long side.

There is a checkbox to print double-sided, print B & W and nothing else. I don't have this problem with my computer Windows 8.1. Is this a driver problem? I downloaded the latest driver on 26 August-14

Hello

I'm sorry to hear that the printer setting was not a pleasant experience, I want to help you print double-sided.

Because you are using the operating system of Mavericks, the first thing I want to check is the driver you are using. It seems to me that you could use the Apple Aiprint driver, it's a basic driver and would not give you the ability to duplex.

We'll click the Apple icon, open system preferences and select printing and scanning. In the print and Scan, click on the printer so that it is highlighted, then click the sign minus symbol below, this will remove the printer, but not the software. Click on the sign more and select "add another printer or a scanner. When you click on your printer you will see below and next to the 'use', it will probably say "Airprint", click Airprint and replace it with the Photosmart driver and then click Add.

Now try to look at the dialog box print in the program you are printing from and it should look different. You will see several options, including the two back.

Check the dialog box in the program for two back. Try printing and check the results.

I hope this helps.

• HP 7520: HP 7520 - size output scanning image problem, excess white border

I have a HP 7520. For months I've been scanning black and white photos (one by one, not with the autofeeder) of different dimensions to a pin connected to the scanner code reader successfully. No problem at all and no grand only white spaces surrounding the photo when I opened the scanned photos. And I have nothing special to do this - I have yet to enter the 7520 HP set up menu on my computer. The HP 7520 seems to have missed to automatically size the size of the photo.

I disconnected the HP 7520 recently for several days and changed my password IP. Now when I scan the pictures, I have a big white page with the photo in a corner. I read the other posts on the same problem, and that the following comments:

1. Automatic harvest. I can't find this option anywhere on the pages of preferences when I go on the 7520 HP set up menu on my computer. I can't find even in the 100 page manual although autocropping is mentioned on page 21 of the manual.
2. Clean the scan bed. I did it.
3. Updates. All the updates appear to be installed.

None of the above has worked, and I don't want to have to manually set the size each time, unless there is no other solution. But there must be another solution as the scanner worked so well 6 months without effort or installation on my part.

That pasa?

Hello

Probably you (or others) have wrong change the shortcut to scan photos. Now, you can create another shortcut to analyze the size OF the photos and save it. The next time use you this shortcut to scan, you will always get the same result. Please try to use HP Scan:

Select your options (size, PPP...) and then save it as a shortcut.

Moreover, the possibility of harvest in buried under Advanced settings very convenient when you scan several photos at once. I scan normally 4 photos and the culture option gives me 4 files, a photo of each.

Kind regards.
