Setup WAN RV042

Hi all

We have two Internet service providers. It assigns the IP address if DHCP. The others we gave a pool of static IP addresses, but address WAN IP is on a different segment than the default gateway of the WAN as in the following example:

WAN IP: 192.168.10.110

Mask: 255.255.255.248

RE default gateway: 192.168.20.1

Default gateway all double WAN routers we've tested allow not the IP address of the WAN on a different segment than the SOHO WAN. My question is: the Cisco RV042 allows the IP address of the WAN on a different segment than the default gateway of the WAN?

Thank you all.

Yes, theres no big thing we can do programming routers will not have networks mix matched in the address.  When a provider does this, they are kind of transmission by proxy their gateway address to protect themselves.  In all reality, you have a gateway address in your network, they are simply not provide to you.

  • RV042 and WAG54G2

    Hello

I have a dual WAN RV042 router and an ADSL modem WAG54G2. I would like to connect the two, but I am facing difficulties in obtaining this configuration works correctly.

Basically, I connected the ADSL modem for the RV042 through the WAN interface and setup of the interface WAN on the RV042 using a static modem IP address, as if it were a normal PC connected to the modem. With this configuration, PC connected through the LAN RV042 isn't able to get internet connection, even if the modem is connected (I tried to plug a laptop computer directly into the modem and it works great).

I also tried to configure the WAN interface to get an IP address dynamically (and started the DHCP of the modem), but also, it does not work.

My question is, are there special measures for installation that I have to do on the WAG54G2 or the RV042 to get this installation work.

Thank you and thank you for your help.

In this case, I would say that you have configured the RV042 router mode instead of the gateway mode.

  • RV042 Port forwarding stops working when the firewall is turned on

    Hey all,.

I have an on a single WAN RV042 router and internal network. I have configured port forwarding as follows:

    HTTP[TCP/80~80]->10.0.0.6
    HTTPS[TCP/443~443]->10.0.0.6
    IMAP[TCP/143~143]->10.0.0.5
    IMAP SSL[TCP/993~993]->10.0.0.5
    SSL[TCP/587~587]->10.0.0.5 SMTP

Everything works fine when I have the firewall turned OFF. However, when I enable the behavior is erratic. 1 of 10 attempts to connect to ANY port transmitted works. Almost all attempts at expiration time.

Note that this happens even if you only use the default firewall rules (which must be circumvented by the port translation I've read in other posts).

My second try was to create rules to Firewall manually, the substitution of the value default ones. I tried to add source WAN1 rules (where is my connection) to the ONE and UNIQUE IP on each port. Nothing seems to work.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, it's really bugging me. I had to disable the firewall if we can access our servers from outside the office. It shouldn't have to do.

Do you know what I might try?

    Best regards

  • Redirection port using two WAN 1 and 2.

    Dear,

Currently I'm working in a dual WAN RV042 router set up, it is configured to accept connections on the number of ports like 80 443, 25, and before them to a local ip address.

The problem is that only works with WAN1.

It is even possible to transfer ports for connections coming WAN2?

    Kind regards

    Muhannad

Hi Muhannand, the confusion seems obvious. When you use a WAN 2 connection with load balancing, OUTGOING connections will share on each WAN traffic. If you use the smartlink backup, only the primary WAN is active up to the failure of this connection.

For port forwarding, if you want an incoming connection for WAN 2 at the same time then you will need to use load balancing mode.

Now, if you have the complication that you need a specific service such as HTTPS (443) expire so it is when you use the binding protocol to force an OUTGOING connection on 1 WAN port.

  • Airport utility main screen status...

Setup Wan w/2 AirPort Extreme & work great! The devices displayed on the main screen of the airport utility, Internet-> airport-1 is the continuous line, connection from the airport-1 - > 2 - of the airport is dotted. What is this average, solid vs dotted line?

Continuous line represents a wired Ethernet connection. Dotted line represents a wireless connection.

If your airport extension connects wireless, then all is good. If the main airports and their extension to connect together using wired Ethernet wired, then something's wrong with your configuration.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 - Macbook Pro and Macbook Air does not print

    Products:

    • HP Officejet Pro 8600
    • MacBook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5)
    • MacBook Air (OS X, Version 10.8.2)

    Question:

    • Why my Mac initially print fine, but now will not print?

    Full article:

I have a wireless network in my house that consisted of a 30 MB cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 laptops from Dell with Windows 7, a laptop Lenovo with Windows 7 and Dell with Windows 7 trick, all printed matter very well.

The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.

I added a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  The two Macs printed fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stop.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP's Service, and finally, they said to my router.  So I called Netgear.  NETGEAR was useless!  They wanted me to accept fees for services before they would even discuss the issue.

As a result of information provided by the HP support service, and because Netgear will not support their product, I quickly bought a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.

Macs will recognize the printer will print if connected via a USB cable, but do not print wirelessly on the Officejet Pro 8600.  The fine impression CPA.

The frustration that is felt is made up by the fact that Macs printed very well with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks and now the printer shows just "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)

Please help, thank you very much for all support.

As a side note, the representative of the HP Service was very friendly and definitely tried to support the HP product, which is much more I can say about Netgear.

    Thank you

    Hello

More likely a problem with Multicast, which Apple devices are relies on to communicate with the device through the network.

First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.

Connect to the power supply and wait 2-3 minutes.

Turn off the HP printer and turn it back on, then check all difference.

If it persists, try to change the configuration of your router as follows

Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you with the steps as a best efforts and those based only on my own knowledge. You can try to change the settings of the router at your own risk:

    1. Open the router configuration page (you'll find listed as the default gateway by clicking the icon on the printer wireless, then print a network configuration report.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click the configuration option in the menu, and then click Setup WAN.
    4. Be sure to uncheck the box Disable IGMP proxy transmission and apply the changes.
    5. Click on the LAN configuration on the same Setup menu.
    6. Set the RIP RIP-2 Version and apply the changes.
    7. Restart your router and then check any change.

I hope that you will find useful information, you can also use the guide to the user below for more information:

  • Connectting to a modem that uses the Protocol PPPoA

That's basically the problem.  There is no PPPoA options to select and I'm not sure what I should do!

    Thank you

    Mark

OK, after losing an entire day on what I finallly got this job.  If you connect a Livebox to a router Linksys-WRVS4400N, using the Livebox as modem DSL (PPPoA) is what you need to do.

    1. find the version of the Linksys router.  Its on the router itself, mine was version 1.1

    2. update the firmware.  It's a pain to find.  The WRVS4400N is in the section of small business on the Cisco site.  You must then go to the model of router page and look very carefully through the links from the bottom.  I tried searching directly for it and seemed to have no chance.

    3. I think he should just keep resetting the router whenever you do something, but go to the Livebox configuration and change the settings of firewall to low.  The router will replace it.

    4. The Livebox is just a modem now so its probably to a value to disable the wireless network.  Then turn off the Livebox

    5. plug ethernet in the lan on the Livebox red and the other end into the Internet port on the WRVS4400N, switch on the Livebox

    6. plug WRVS4400 LAN 1 on PC.

    7. when it connected goto 192.168.1.1

8 Hope you get login and see the installation/summary page.

    9. click on Setup - WAN and ensure that his auto in DHCP

    10. it's the bit you need to know.  Click on configuration - LAN tab and change the IP 192.168.2.1.  It's the missing piece!

10.1 the setup page now is 192.168.2.1 to remember or you will fall with yourself!

11 go back in the configuration - summary, then click on renew DHCP.  You should see the address IP WAN to change and the LAN IP 192.168.2.1 read.

12 watch this world very satisfing appears on the logo of connections.

    I deserve a bloody Medal!

Thanks to Linksys UK dept for your help and all the other bitty posts, I've read through to get this working.

PS To change your pronto security settings and make sure your network attachments are behind the Linksys, not the Livebox!

  • RVS4000 loses static IP config one or two times a month

Bought the RVS4000 in 11/2012 to work behind a NVG512 (pass thru mode). I use the V2.0.2.7 firmware version. For some reason any one or two times a month I lose access to the internet. Sometimes it's the fault of AT & T, but other times my RVS4000 doesn't behave well. Finally, I took screenshots of each screen, which I configured in the RVS4000 to make it work in my environment. Last night we lost internet access again. Before unplugging everything I looked into the RVS4000 and found that my setup WAN had returned to a fault in Automatic Configuration - DHCP instead of static IP address I had previously recorded.

It seems that my RVS4000 is losing just this WAN setting (forwarding static IP and port mapping data and VPN client data is still intact.

No clue on what to do next?

Walter, seems that the device may be defective. If the device is completely locked to the point DHCP responds more and the router of the user interface is not accessible, looks like a device locked.

If you want to debug further, you can configure an external syslog server to see why. But frankly, looks a bad hardware.

I recommend that you give the HWC appealed for a possible replacement.

  • How can I stop the orange flashing light on ATC due "On WAN Setup" is checked?

After installing the new modem/router provided by ISP for me ATC could not work with her.  ISP tech rep (s) done a lot of things and now modem/router (bridged mode) and ATC work fine for all on my local network, including Time Machine backups.  But, ATC has flashing orange with the warning that Setup on Wan decreases network security.  Can I just uncheck that box in Airport utility, or other necessary actions?

    Yes, uncheck the box.

  • RV042 Dual WAN Port DMZ not acquire an IP from ISP

    Hello

I am trying to replace my router with the more robust RV042 of current load balancing. Installation seems simple enough. However, I am having an issue gets an IP address of the DMZ port in load balancing mode.

The two WAN is the same ISP and is both DSL, using the same models of DSL Modem. #1 WAN port works perfectly.

Indeed, when an independent piece of equipment is installed in the #2 DSL modem, this gives an IP address instantly...

The two DSL lines only require a MAC address to get their IP addresses, and none of the static values are allowed, perhaps to test only.

The issue of intellectual property has been seen before. I can't find any reference to the iton this site.

    Thank you

    Steve

Glad to hear that it works.

The "save the settings and restart" is not all that rare, although it is not typical for your model.

The obligation of power off is certainly not normal. He told me that some sort of electric lock has occurred. This could be a unique thing, caused by a discharge of static electricity, or it could indicate a manufacturing defect. If this is the first case he did re - is probably. If it is the latter, then it will need a trade at any given time.

In any case, it seems that the MAC address index has been at least partially useful.

Good luck, somone will be here if you need assistance once again.

  • Specify wan for traffic wifi Rv042

If I connectin a RV042 to a WIFI router, is possible to specify that all traffic router wifi should be redirected to an individual of wan?

Hi Jose, sounds feasible. The area WIFI, the EA6500 and the computers that connect to it can have binding protocol implemented to use a specific WAN interface while the WAN 2 can be intact which balances the load on the two WAN 1 and 2 for all traffic not related to WAN 1.

  • RV042 v3 & RV082 v3: WAN Failover + restore VPN

    We have a v3 RV082 and RV042 v3 with latest firmware.

They have all two Dual WAN (backup active Smartlink).

They connect with each other via the VPN (with VPN enabled and configured backup Tunnel).

When primary internet (WAN1) fails, and it switches to the internet backup (WAN2),

We have to manually replace the VPN of WAN1 WAN2 interface to restore

    the VPN tunnel.

We tried to create a second instance of VPN using WAN2, however it will not save

due to a conflict of network with VPN original (even if we move the destination VPN

IP and VPN backup tunnel IP).  I imagine that the conflict is the destination network.

How do we automate the VPN interface change an outage of the internet?

Or about what work can be done to ensure the VPN is restored after a

failover of the Internet (WAN interface change).

To address scenarios, you need the two operating sites in the double-wan load-balancing mode. The main tunnel is formed with two interfaces WAN1 and the backup tunnel is formed with two interfaces to WAN2.

  • RV042 router multiple WAN IP addresses assigned to different ranges of LAN IPs

I would like to have them assigned to different LAN IPs and multiple WAN IP addresses. If I used the special option NAT its give me only the LAN IP 192.168.1.xxx. There is an option to specify more than one LAN IPs but it is not possible to transfer the ports of these additional LAN IPS or installation rules.

Is any way to eat this with this router. If this is not the case, what is the router that will meet my needs?

    Andreas,

Unfortunately what your want to do does not work with the rv042.  It will allow only one to one nat rules apply for the local network subnet by default.

You can use the sa500 series router that will allow you to make ip aliases to different lan subnet addresses.

  • RV042 dual wan port forwarding challenge

I have the latest firmware for this router. Here's what I want to do.

WAN1 is connected to our primary ISP and has a static IP address. We pass a bunch of ports to our SBS 2003 for VPN server and the purpose of remote desktop. Redirect us P - FTP and FTP ports to another computer on the domain to use as FTP server, and we have access to this computer directly from our office as a mapped drive.

WAN2 is connected to our secondary ISP that has a static IP address. I want to forward ports 80 and 443 of this connection to our FTP server (which has the internal IP address of 192.168.1.21) as well for this same computer can host our project Web site without needing us to get another computer that we would have to have in the office.

This doesn't seem to be easily possible with the RV042.  I am open to any suggestions on how I can do that; I have another router I could throw into the mix if that would solve the problem.

In fact, there to make a NAT on a public IP address to match an internal IP address of your choice.  I used the static IP address of the second internet connection and mapped it to our FTP server.

The only downside is that the FTP server is no longer protected by the firewall, so I had to install a software firewall to protect it from the outside world ;-)
