  • RALink RT5390r 801,1 1 b/g/n 1 x 1 wifi adapter in a Pavilion dv6 notebook works with WiFi on 5 GHz?

The card Ralink RT5390r 801,1 1 b/g/n 1 x 1 wifi in a Pavilion dv6 notebook wireless adapter works with WiFi on 5 GHz? I need to change the network card?

    Hello:

Any card with a bgn suffix is a single 2.4 GHz single band card.

A card with agn or abgn is a dual band.

I doubt you will find a dual band compatible to your laptop wireless card.

The BIOS has a whitelist which hangs in the cards wireless not supported to be installed.

The service manual may indicate a card dual band for your model, but the part number will be probably wrong.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 keyboard works not properly

    Hello

I use a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running Windows 7 for about a year and a half.  Recently (I can't say exactly when) I noticed that my keyboard does not work properly.  There is nothing huge, but sometimes I have to push a button twice before she will comply, or it will be delayed in its response.  Another thing is that I originally used to have to hold the function key and press the space bar at the same time turn off the light that surrounds the touchpad. Now, I just simply press the function key (not now) and, no matter how many other keys I press on in the meantime, the next time that I press the space bar, the light turns off.  It's both distracting and frustrating because I need to press the space bar to operate normally.

My drivers are all up to date.  I tried to remove them and reinstall them. I changed a few settings in the Bios, and then reset the default settings, all to nothing does not.  I would appreciate any idea or you guys can offer me solutions.

    Thank you!

    Hi El Nacho,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 and keyboard problems. Here is a link to uninstall the keyboard. Restart the computer after the uninstall, it must be reinstalled automatically.

Have you tried to take a little air to the keyboard to see if maybe it's dust or debris which initially are intermittent use?

    Thank you.

  • HP pavilion Dv6 no working usb port?

My HP pavilion dv6 has recently encountered a problem where no usb ports on the computer work, they work if the legacy has a sorce of external power?
I think it may have been vaused by a bad legacy, what should I do and will be HP attach it as its only 6 months old and still in warranty. ?

HP should fix, but if you have bad usb ports it is likely needs a replacement of the motherboard so you must send it.

    Hello

This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure at the opening of the service registry entry, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service registry entry.

You can try the steps to drive your CD-ROM or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Important: The following instructions contain the steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. • Speakers have stopped working on Pavilion DV7

    Hello

Please can someone help.  I just noticed that my external speakers on my laptop to 6c52ea Pavilion DV7 stopped working. I still don't have sound when I use it (I don't have any notification or launch sounds) so I do not know when they were working last ok. I have checked various settings and can see that the sound comes from headset simply not the "external" speaker  I fear I am a novice, so can't really give you much of a clue, but I made sure that the volume is high enough and not cut etc.

Following the advice of someone else, I removed the battery and held the power button for 30 seconds to see if the speakers themselves sorted after the reboot, but this did not help.

I would be grateful for some advice please, thank you very much.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp58001-58500/sp58226.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    Kind regards

  • sudden problem with HP Pavilion dv6-2157wm laptop

Hello.  About 2 weeks ago, my laptop (a HP Pavilion dv6 model) worked very well.  It has been plugged in the power cord and adapter at the time.  One day, I went to check my emails and the laptop suddenly acted like it has been restarted, then it turns off completely.

I waited a few minutes for re - turn on the laptop, but it does at all.  I unplugged the power cord and plugged in the power cord into the computer slot, but the led next to the power cord housing doesn't appear as it normally does when it is plugged.

Also, when I pressed the power button to turn my phone back on, it lights.  Instead of this, a light in the front of the laptop (under the symbol of lightning bolt) flashes 3 times and then stopped flashing.  I took the battery and put it again after a few seconds, but it won't always turn.

I noticed that the cord of the power box was nice and warm when the laptop shut down suddenly, as it was the laptop (despite the use of a laptop to refresh at the bottom of the laptop fan). The model number of the cord is WASGV0CL9YIVCU.

What is happening with my laptop?  I use this unit to my secular Ministry work and need to work as soon as POSSIBLE!  I don't know if it's the power cord which broke or the battery needs to be replaced.  I bought the laptop in early 2010 and kept in good condition since then.  Help, please!

    Jessie

    Hey @prettykittyabc ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you're Pavilion dv6 laptop does not light.

The symptoms you have described would indicate the AC adapter or power cord no longer works. The laptop flashing lightning bolt symbol is the BIOS say you there is not enough power to turn on the laptop. If the adapter is connected, then it would be safe to say that the adapter is not power to the laptop, which would mean that the battery cannot be recharged.

You can order online a replacement adapter, but I would say to contact the HP support by phone to order a replacement card for your laptop by phone in order to ensure the right adapter is purchased. Please contact our technical support at the 800-474-6836. • Controls light Stopped Working - dm4

Control keys for brightness (f2 and f3) on my Pavilion dm4 stopped working all of a sudden. I am windows 7 64 bit OS. I tried to go back to previous system restore points. I also installed the BIOS, Intel chipset and graphics drivers. All the other function keys work correctly, just cannot change the brightness. At the moment he is stuck on the intensity setting.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction to solve this problem, I'm terrible eye strain of the screen.

    Thank you

@Rico, I found out how to fix it... trial and error... go to Device Manager and click your graphic driver... and uninstall IT... computer restarting... If you have win 7 it should install the grappics driver automatically updated... Otherwise, return to the Manager of devices... and go to the new device that is not installed... update... and restart the computer... then brightness controls won't work... Sorry if I rushed through guidelines... reply back if you need more specific onees

    Hello

I bought my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop 2011 as it starts a is overheating, freezing windows with noisy fan sound etc... but now, on information in BIOS boot indicating that the CPU fan has stopped working so immediately, I checked that I couldn't hear any noise from fan and no symptoms as fan works so I disassembled my laptop and removed CPU cooler fan only. How can I find my model number or product number?

I understand that since you had the laptop he had an overheating problem with a loud fan noise that causes freeze it.

Recently, you have received the message that the CPU fan has stopped working and you couldn't hear the rotation of the fan to the top.

You have removed the fan and checked, but the fan works.  It is possible that the connection was not safe in Notepad.

Have you checked for an update of the bios of your laptop. You have provided the series of laptop you have, but not the exact model, so I'm not able to check it for you.

You can run the Wizard to help HPin order to facilitate this process.

Like a bios update has the potential to cause damage, you can contact HP technical support using this procedure.

  • Pavilion dv6 fingerprint reader has stopped working

"Where you go, there you are."

    Hi Mikey,

Looks like you're running the Digital Persona of SimplePass flavor.

Two things to consider / try, in order.

If the reset works, you don't have to reinstall the driver...

    • Hard reset
    • Reinstall the driver

    Hard Reset:

Sometimes, all you need to do is the computer suddenly.  This method works for a variety of connection and "glued" program issues.

    • Disconnect all the external devices first.
    • Remove the AC power and battery
    • Press and hold the power button while in the minus 30 seconds
    • Reinstall the power supply for the first start only * see Note
    • Power on - connect
    • Next time you shut down the system, replace the battery.

    * Note: You can ignore the little battery aside.  If you wish, replace the battery the first time and do it with her.

Validity fingerprint sensor Driver sp52354 V2.1.0.2

    • Install the validity sensor Driver installation package: it if called sp*.exe - the package will be most likely located in the downloads folder.  If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click on ' to install it, otherwise just right-click, select"Run as Administrator"and install.

    I hope this helps!

  • Often fingerprint reader stops working after laptop wakes from sleep (Pavilion dv6)

I am convinced that the fingerprint reader is fine. There must be a problem with the driver may, something inconsistent with a recent update of the Windows 7 software?

    The scenario:

    • Laptop works very well.  I put on standby when I'm done and use the mousepad to wake him up.  LED fingerprint reader blinks, and I can drag my finger to log on.
    • At one point, after a few times to put the laptop to sleep and wake, the fingerprint reader does not.  No flashing.  I slide my finger and the player does not respond at all - is not yet tell me that there was a bad reading.
    • If I login and log back in again, no change. However, if I do a reboot, everything is fine - the fingerprint reader works again.

I watched over and over again for new drivers and installed.  Nothing seems to affect this scenario.   Unfortunately, this has started to happen about 9 months ago () and because of the sporadic nature of it, I was not attentive enough to know the 'precise' point in time when it started happening.  My instincts tell me that there was some sort of update software/driver along the way which is originally the fingerprint reader not do not work right.  I hope HP continues a relationship with these companies to fingerprint reader and can transmit these questions so that we can do a software update.  But... I don't know if it has been abandoned.  My laptop is still under warranty, but it would be ridiculous to send in just this problem.

I hope that someone has heard of this on the dv6 and may know a solution.  Thank you!

My system is a HP dv6-6145dx.  I am running Windows 7, with the latest updates.  The integrated fingerprint reader works on HP Simple pass 2011 v5.1 and Validity Sensor driver 4.3.205.0 version.  When I try to launch the Simple passage interface, it loads the database, but then the application disappears.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the software, but makes no difference with the issue, I noted.

"If you keep an open mind, life will give you more opportunities."

No problem, I am completely I shouldn't bother with Pass Simple version 8.  I advanced and installed version 6.  I did not yet get no joy, so I did a little more digging and found one more late Validity Sensor driver, version 4.3.304 (not noted in the list of update driver for my laptop model).  IT WORKED.  I can now go into hibernation and the fingerprint reader remains functional when the system is out of hibernation.  Previously, it was pretty much guaranteed became disabled.  So... it looks that my problem is now solved.

  • HP pavilion dv6: HP Pavilion dv6 has stopped working

    Hello

I have a HP pavilion dv6 i7 - 4 GB RAM model, I bought in 2011. The laptop worked fine until yesterday. But a sudden power cut has caused its judgment as the back of the battery is close to zero. But later when I tried to load and restart, the laptop simply did not. I can see the charge works very well, but none of the lights (power, caps lock, etc.) are on.  Even after using the old method of draining any static battery in the laptop (by pressing Start button / stop for nearly 30 secondds), the portable computer simly does not start. There is no visible boot, that nothing displayed on screen as the laptop itself is not able to start.  I tried to reset the RAM by removing and re - install in accordance with the procedure prescribed by HP. But, still no effect.

(There is no previous repair/replacement in my laptop. Thus, all parts are those which are authentic HP)

The situation is completely distraught for me because nothing is displayed on the screen. I have no idea if the laptop is under tension, or not. Although I tried restarting without battery. The results were the same.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi @Durvank_Yewle,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and laptop does not turn on. Try perform a reset.  There are many tips here.

When you perform a hard reset note remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

Plug the adapter into a different wall outlet. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

Here is a link to computer does not start for Windows.

Here's a video that might help. It shows you how to reinstall the HARD drive, which is sometimes useful.

Please let me know how it goes.
