Size of fine thread SCSI SHC68-68-EPM

Hi all

Does anyone know what is the size of the thread of the screw of the end of the SHC68-68-EPM cable SCSI-68? I have a lot of connectors PCB SCSI couplings, but Jack positions provided to properly mate with this cable screw.

Thank you

Nick

Hi, the thread is 2-56.

  • Replacement cables SHC68-68-EPM?

I have a PXI-6363.  The recommended cable is the SHC68-68-EPM cable.  I have one of these practices, but need 2.  I found a couple of unused cables carrying around (NI SHC68-68 - RMIO & SHC68 - 68 - RDIO).  Can I use one of these as a substitute for a cable EPM?

I am not convinced that you can simply replace them and if they don't work it wouldn't be ideal. On the one hand, the SHC68-68-EPM cable specifies that it ends by a shift of VHDCI 68 pin, while others are just VHDCI, but I was not able to find information about the difference. In addition, they list compatibility for X and M series for RMIO or RDIO cable. While they are all 68 pin cables there are huge differences in grouping and shielding wire, and they are all optimized for different features/data acquisition cards. I found the mappings of wire for the EPM and RMIO which illustrates this.

    Hello

Anyone know what's the capacity of cable to the SHC68-68-EPM cable?

    Hi Nick,

This cable has three internal cables, as in the following diagram:

The mutual capacity for cable has 75pF and mutual capacity for cables B and C is 47.6pF. Please let me know if that answers your question.

  • Are compatible cable SHC68-68-EP and SHC68-68-EPM cable?

    I use a DAQ card 6062E with a chassis SC-2345.
For now, to connect with each other, I use a SHC68-68-EP of 2 meter long cable.

Now I need a longer cable, this cable is only 2 metres but I need 5 meters.

My question is: are SHC68-68-EP and compatible SHC68-68-EPM cable (for M-series cards)? (the EPM cable exists in versions 5 m and 10 m)

    Tips:
    1. I downloaded the two support cables wiring diagrams OR. The only difference is: the new cable (EMP) for M-series cards, a PIN which was formerly assigned to GND is now separated into a new pair twisted and assigned to a signal (PFI 15 / P2.7).
According to this, it seems that 'new' EPM cable can be used on other maps than M-series of retro-compatible way (but of course 'old' EP cables cannot be used on M-series cards because a single signal would be connected to the MASS).

    2. The SHC68-68-EP cable, I bought 3 weeks ago had a big label "NI SHC68-68-EPM" on his bag when I got it... Maybe OR ships 'new' EMP cables when order us EP cables 'old '?

Does anyone have information about it all?

    Hi Fabrice,.

It is possible to use the EPM cable with your E Series device. Changes to the MOU to create the EPM have no negative effect when used with the E series devices.

The main difference between the two cables is the assignment of pins for PFI 15 (as you said). Cable EPM has also been optimized for digital extra lines on M Series devices to minimize noise and crosstalk on the PFI lines.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hello

As long as you have compatible connectors, SCSI cables will work DAQ of basic functions.  They have the advantage of NO cables is that we can meet our DAQ hardware.  So, we can create pairs twisted differential pairs to HAVE, using the ground for shielding terminals and generally specialize the cable to minimize noise and crosstalk.  Because the SCSI cables are not specialized, you are likely to see the most noise and, if you go the sampling rates more Rapids, crosstalk.  If you are in a laboratory or factory with a good amount of noise EMF that your readings are not quite as clean, or if you have fluorescent lights you might see 60 Hz noise you might not see otherwise.

If you want more details on the specifications of the SH68-68-EPM cable, I recommend these two articles.  The first example of the twisted pair and the principles of the SH cable shielding and the second gives the most precise specifications that you can compare with when looking for a SCSI cable.

  • How to increase the size of the disk partition VMware Studio.

    Hello

I installed the VMWare Studio unit on ESX 4.0 host system. I've been running more disk space for builds, so I wanted to provide more space for the SCSI in ESX, Edit-settings of the Virtual Appliance. I increased the size to 256 GB SCSI disk.

I then went to the guest VMWare Studio system, and the device/dev/sda5 displays always only 30 GB, and 12 GB is exhausted. How can I make the Guest OS from VMWare Studio unit see the increase in size?

I tried to use "parted", but this fails because/dev/sda5 is mounted. "' I can't umount/dev/sda5 as/dev/sda5" is ongoing. " I am aware of the 1004047 of the Knowledge Base article, but it is of no use, because is not specifically for VMWare Studio unit.

    Thank you.

If you have a lot of disk space on the ESX Server, yes creating and adding a new virtual disk (vmdk) to the VM Studio is the way to go. Mount the new drive for the Studio colleagues OS (Ubuntu), and the key is/opt/vmware/www/build simple installation on the new disk to create the new space drive for Studio use. Don't forget to back up your existing data in this directory first. See http://communities.vmware.com/thread/244715?tstart=0 for the similar explanation. Let us know how it goes.

  • OR SHC68-68 for the PXI-6255

I see that the PXI-6255 DAQ module recommends the SHC68-68-EPM cable and SHC68-68 cable for each connector. My question, is there any detailed diagrams for the SHC68-68 cable pinout? Is it a one to one with the data acquisition module?

    Hey TreyB

SHC68-68-EPM cables both SHC68-68 have mappings to pin one.  Links to our documentation for pinout for these cables are below:

    The SHC68-68-EPM cable pinout - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/DE2D842E545DE64B86256F78006EAB1A

    The SHC68-68 cable pinout - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/26223F0B830148FD862577770069EBC4

You will notice the two cables have different internal shielding, as well as twisted pairs different configurations.  The two are armoured noise outside (the prefix "SH" indicates this).  The SHC68-68-EPM cable is optimized for mixed signals on our X and M Series devices that contain analog and digital channels and offers additional internal shielding between digital and analog lines for better signal integrity. The SHC68-68 cable offers only twisted pair and no armour to protect against digital transients because the cable is intended to be used on the single analog connector.

  • 12, WinPE 10 workstation: storage cmdlets work for non-virtual IDE, SCSI virtual

I use Workstation 12 Pro to develop a code 10 WinPE for OS deployment/upgrades in service.   2 years without any problems, I have built several iterations.

Some new hardware platforms must be built as VMware images using SCSI, instead of IDE virtual disks, as it has always been used previously.

The VM with SCSI disks images works very well on XP Pro and POSReady 2009; However, when I boot to WinPE storage PowerShell cmdlets do not see the virtual SCSI disk, partitions, volumes, etc.   I was initially using WinPE 5.x with PowerShell 4.  I've recently updated to 10 WinPE and PowerShell 5, but still no joy.   On the two WinPE 5.x and WinPE 10, the only storage Cmdlet that works is Get-physical disk.

In WinPE, diskpart and dos commands work fine with SCSI disks.  In PowerShell, the "Get-WmiObject Win32_DiskDrive" and "Get-WmiObject Win32_LogicalDisk" commands also work, but not the Cmdlets Get-disk storage, Get-Partition, Get-Volume, which all return a null output report.

Any ideas or suggestions for debugging?

    Thanks in advance,

    vHomer

    Hello

Thank you very much for the detailed information!

I just tried your procedure using a VHD disk image. (P.s. "My physical machine can start on this VHD file, is not a broken image.)

V2V converter can convert a VMDK image. Then, I created a computer virtual personalized by selecting this image VMDK file. But when I tried to convert it into a new virtual de VMware vCenter Converter Standalone machine, I got this error: "FAILED: could not find the system volume, reconfiguration is not possible.

Conversion to a system of physical hard disk to a virtual machine of closing is not officially supported by VMware vCenter Converter Standalone. P2V guide (physical disks or Partitions in Vmware vmdk (P2V) conversion ".ultrageek.") you provide has a few involved third-party tools. It is difficult to say what has caused the problem.

So, to isolate the problem, could you please try to reproduce the problem with only VMware Workstation? For example:

    1. create a virtual machine with a VMDK of VMware Workstation file

    2. make custom configurations: you can do it by the workstation user interface, or you can also change the configuration files of virtual machine manually

    3. reproduce the problem

    I tried the following scenario:

1 create a Windows VM 10 x 64 custom with IDE virtual drive, attach WinPE ISO

    2. power on the virtual machine, it will boot to WinPE

    3. check the storage Powershell cmdlets work well

    4. Run diskpart, create a partition, format the partition to NTFS

    5. power off the virtual machine

6 remove the virtual drive IDE virtual machine settings

    7. Add a new virtual disk in the virtual machine settings, select SCSI type and using are virtual disk file

    8. Select the virtual disk file removed in step 6, save and close the virtual machine settings

    9. power on the virtual machine, it will boot to WinPE

Result: Storage PowerShell cmdlets work well with virtual drive SCSI in WinPE

This test reminds me of one thing, Win10 x 64 support only this controller of storage in VMware Workstation:

    scsi0.present = "TRUE"
    scsi0.virtualDev = "lsisas1068"

So please make sure that these two lines are in vmx file your virtual machine and they must be configured as indicated above. If this isn't the case, you can try to change.

    Kind regards

    Hi someguysomewhere,

Can you please try to reset the preferences of the PS, but make sure first that you have a back up of your preferences

To restore preferences quickly by using a keyboard shortcut: press and hold Option + command + shift (Mac OS) when you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. New preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

  • Cannot create a VMDK with a size greater than 600 GB on NFS storage

    Hi guys,.

My institutes use for vSphere, ESXi 4.1U2 with vCenter 4.1 with the based BlueArc storage NFS. Recently, I tried to create a virtual machine with a 900 GB drive. But the operation could not say there is Error Input/ouput. Of the hostd.log, I found:

    ~ # cat /var/log/vmware/hostd.log | grep gagri
    snapshotDirectory = "[gagri_10G_VMPool01]"
    [05-11-2012 14:27:07.431 21F40B90 info 'VmDiskMgr' opID = D2819F21-0003B52F-30] For drive [gagri_10G_VMPool01] new Machine virtual/New Virtual Machine.vmdk, disc creation error: input/output error

I did several tests and found that any less than 600 GB size is fine.

Later, I SSH to the ESXi host directly and tried to created a 900 GB VMDK via vmkfstools, surprisingly, it is created without error.

So I was wondering if there is a bug with vCenter?

    Kind regards

    Derrick

With ESXi 4.1 Update1, we have a fix for the creation of 1 TB of VMDK on NFS. Maybe you can check the setting below if it helps

Creation of large hard on NFS files may fail
When you create a virtual disk (filehard ) with a large size, for example, more than 1 TB, NFS storage, the creation process may fail with an error: a general error has occurred: unable to create the disc: the disc creation error. This problem occurs when the NFS client does not wait for enough time for the storage array NFS to initialize the virtual disk after that the NFS client RPC parameter is to expire. By default the time-out value is 10 seconds. This hotfix provides the configuration option to set the RPC timeout setting using the esxcfg-advcfg- s/NFS/SetAttrRPCTimeout command.
