  Two weeks ago, I bought a HP 15 sleekbook model 15-b171sd with Windows 8 pre installed. The performance has been terribly slow. When I just wanted to open Explorer, well I could grab a cup of coffee. So I booted into the BIOS and choose material control menu. All tests passed, no error not found. Then I thought that it would be installing windows 8 which may not be turned. I got the operating system that has been painful slow. I lasted for hours and hours.

  So, I run a difficult obstacle, trying to develop a game for iphone 4/ipad.  The best comparison to what I am would probably be Plants vs. Zombies. My road bock is that I can't have more than 10 enemies on screen bofore that get significant slow down. Update 2.7 helped a little, but not enough to really get the preformance I need.

  My the game resolution is 960 x 640.  All on-screen objects are rasterized (png) and founded. I went to GPU mode.  The purpose of 'the enemy' average is about 60 x 100 pixels and a dozen images to animation.  I do not use blending modes and no change in property .alpha. No interpolation.  I basically pulled out all major aonther at some point and just tested code with a large number (say 14) enemy objects (animation film clips) on the screen (and seen slowly dragging him down). I am also a pool of objects almost everything.

  I saw games push WAYYY more in terms of how much they spend on screen, so I wonder if it's one of the limitations of the Flash engine?  I can only imagine that I am just short of memory?

  TaskManager is used, the processes using the CPU is what either the application is currently in use at this time (for example, when sidebar is faded, jumping to use upward in the process manager, then comes back down to 0 until another task is carried out), there is no single process using the majority of the processing power and no CPU usage is reported when the system is inactive.

• High CPU use/Slow Performance after you install the updates of Windows

  I run Vista Business 32-bit.

  After you install many Windows updates in the last few days, I've known very slow performance after the system worked for a while. Resource monitor shows 70-100% CPU usage, even when you run all the apps (that I know of). This makes everyhting grind to a halt, same trip that the mouse jerky movements. I ran several complete system with McAfee anti virus scans and not found problems (using the latest software). The detail showed the so-called ", PID4 NT kernel and system" using 18% avialable CPU capacity, but this process is not always shown to use much more capacity when the slow performance occurs. Nothing else don't use much capacity CPU, I see.

  More recently, the capacity of the CPU became crazy, jumping from zero to 100% usage in a back a suite oscillation. When I shut down and restart, performance improves, but erodes little by little over time.

  Is this a sign of a virus, or is it a problem with the recent Windows updates or some kind of conflict with my software such as McAfee? How do I tell me what to do? Anyone else have this problem with the recent Windows updates?

  McAfee applications (and Norton) are known for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.

  1. download the McAfee Consumer Product Removal, save it to your desktop tool: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

  2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  Does anyone else know extremely slow performance after the update?  I tried all the usual items, delete the cache, reinstall etc... Last try was install on a clean system... still very slow performance.

  Intermittent symptoms are: push the space bar to play - 1 or 2 second hesitation, pushing the space bar to play audio but video playback does not work, some filters is blurry, curved RGB for example take 2 ~ 4 seconds of 'kick '...

  Same exact same system configuration on the previous version had no issues and was very sensitive. Also this on 2 other systems that have been updated. All Mac.  Customers are starting to notice the hesitation on the reading that is really powerful.

  Turn off your automatic backup in the preferences. I was about to tear my remaining hair, dealing with the same issues as you. This fixed it for me. It will be useful. BTW, it wasn't my idea. It seems to help a lot of people and systems here lying around.
