  According to the description of the problem, your computer is frozen to the login screen. First, try hard, restart the computer and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

  If the problem persists, I suggest that you want to run auto repair with installation media and see if it helps you repair system files or not. For the execution of the task, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps.

  Method 1

  When you use the recovery environment (Windows RE) to troubleshoot startup issues, first try the Startup Repair option in the System Recovery Options dialog box. If this does not resolve the problem, or if you have additional problems manually, use the Bootrec.exe tool.

  Because you cannot start the computer, you may need to create a bootable Windows installation media, and then do an auto repair, and if this does not help then you try to restore your computer to the previous date.

  Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

  c. check (failed or successful) updates on the exact date when the update has been installed on the system.

  Let us know the number of the update has been installed on the system recently.

  d. remove it clicking Update installed system.

  e. click on the update that has recently been installed on the system, then click on uninstall.

  f. check if you are able to boot to the desktop normally.

  If you are not able to boot to the desktop normally, then check if you're able to boot in safe mode. Follow step 2.

If the Windows logo appears, you must try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

  § If your computer has multiple operating systems, use the arrows to select the operating system you want to repair, and then press and hold F8.

  c. on the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select repair your computer and press ENTER. (If your computer is not listed as an option, then your computer doesn't understand no repair preinstalled recovery options, or your network administrator has disabled the.)

  d. Select a keyboard layout, and then click Next.

  I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5934. When I received a message "a problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to the computer. Now, when you turn on the pc, it shows the Toshiba start screen and goes no further. Seems to have stopped. Impossible to get in Mode safe', F2 or F12 do not respond and the recovery disks do not work. Could really use help SMEs. Am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

  Call Toshiba and see what are the options they give you.

  They will probably ask you to try to restore the system to factory settings, then you might want to get some kind of bootable CD/DVD first (some Linux Live CD - Live CD of Ubuntu is a good choice one OR operation Ultimate Boot CD for Windows is a basis of Linix Ultimate Boot CD) to see if it boots.  Most have tests for hard drives and such integrated.  If she stops on CD and you can get network and others - you can assume that most of the parts are likely good.

  I agree with you. Turn off the laptop in an extreme manner was not wise.

  Try a hard reset:

  Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
  Press and hold the power button for more than 15 seconds.
  Plug the DC power adapter (leave the battery for now)
  Press the power button

  If no joy then: (remove the battery and make this diagnosis with the plugged AC adapter)

  (1) remove the memory and put one in the lower SoDIMM slot then try turning on the system. To do this with each module to see if a module of memory has failed is the origin of the problem.

  If no joy with the memory module test:

  Remove the hard drive and turn the laptop and press the power button.  If the BIOS complains that he cannot find any bootable disc, then you have a hard drive problem.

  After clean OS installation Windows Update set to automatic so downloading updates runs in background and it slows down laptop performance quickly, especially if you need internet connection.

  Change windows update settings and set it to check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.
  When you have finished your work, you can start update installation.

  You have a problem with your network connection.

  It could be a defective material you may be substituted.

  First, turn off the computer.
