Smartphones blackBerry BIS on WiFi

Hello

I'm new to the country of the wonders of BlackBerry devices and I have the following problem:

I'm using BIS provided by Vodafone RO and when I was first testing the service, my flashlight was from BIS to WiFi connection when he was in the region of a saved network, but now since my last account changes, I will not switch to WiFi any matter more and no whether or not it is connected to WIFI in Service status to "BlackBerry Internet Service" he continue to say "Mobile network".

Is this normal? He shouldn't go through WiFi?

Thank you

Claudiu

Hi, if someone of you happens to have my problem, then ask your operator to check your configuration.
This is how I solved it!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberry Bold 9700 wifi but not bbm

As of right now I'm temporarily in Argentina, but my carrier is T-Mobile in the United States, where I have an unlimited plan. I have a bold 9700 with OS5. Now, with my T-Mobile chip if I get a WiFi I can navigate and use bbm. However, with Argentina chip from another phone (which does include no data) when I connect to wifi I can browse but do not have bbm. In addition, despite being connected, the rest white wifi dim (as opposed to the more dynamic version) icon. I am struggling to understand why with a single chip it would allow me to use bbm and why he would not with each other. It's annoying to have to constantly switch between the two circuits to be able to use bbm. Any ideas?

It's actually pretty simple. Your TM SIM includes all BB owners... when it is inserted, you have access to these services, because your BB can authenticate (happens in the background, you do nothing) to the servers TM BIS (via WiFi). With your Argentinean SIM card, you have no BB service... and as such don't receive them (because, not having the card SIM of TM, your BB cannot authenticate on the TM BIS servers). Regardless of the access channel (e.g., network WiFi vs data carrier), you must run with a SIM card which has a BB data plan in order to use the services BB owners.

    Good luck!

  • Smartphones blackBerry Torch 9800 WiFi problems

Just bought a 'unlocked' Torch 9800 from Amazon.  We are having a problem with the game facing upwards.  The WiFi signal is detected by the device, but we cannot send or receive e-mails.  When you log on to the browser, we can not go to the line, as it is said that it has turned on WiFi but not coverage.  I have contacted my provider "Three" and they say that, to their end, everything looks good to go.  My previous phone is a Curve 9300 that works very well, I'll have to use my old phone and it is send and receive e-mails very well with good coverage.  The abandonment of the cover guard torch its all very frustrating.

We arrived at the conclusion that the problem is the phone itself, it has not been unlocked properly or we are missing something in the game upward.  If someone had a similar problem or you can shed some light on what we can hurt?

Hello and welcome to the community!

If you can use on the 9800, phone services via 3, then it's unlocked properly... but you can check here:

Any BB can be used on any carrier that is running the same radio frequencies that the BB is capable of (and I have no idea if your in are such). But, to bring you a BB on a carrier network that they don't sell, there are several obstacles to overcome:

    (1) the carrier must say 'yes' to the fact... they are owners of their network and have every right to say what devices will be allowed to connect to it. If they say 'no', then it's the end of it.

    (2) you must be sure that your BB is properly unlocked since its origin manufactured for carrier... see this thread useful for more details:

    (3) you must get all of your voices works on the carrier, before you even try anything on data level services

    (4) you must be a subscriber of the carrier, a plan of sufficient data to enable BB exclusive services that you wish to

5 (a) if the carrier directly supports your specific model BB, then you can proceed to the registration of the BB on their network, generating adequate for your BB service book delivery and treatment of the function. Since you didn't say that 3 you are on, I can't check to see if they support the 9800 or not... we do it, the other does not. But you can post via the official download portal:

If your carrier lists the 9800 in their portal, then they take over the it and you should be good to use it on their network.

5 (b) but, if the carrier does not directly your BB-specific model number, then the challenges are much more that most of the carrier's systems will deliver, for BB, the service books required to enable BB exclusive data services, even if you have subscribed to them.

So, based on this, your BB may or may not ever any function on this carrier network. It can be quite difficult to achieve, especially if 5 b applies. Then take a look at this and decide how you want to move forward. Most people end up just buying a new BB if 5b applies.

If 5A applies, then I suggest the following, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2, each should result in a message to your BB to come...) Please wait for this before moving on to the next step):

    (1) registry HRT

    • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with wireless network
    • Please wait a 'registration' message reach your Messages application

    (2) Service reference books

    • KB02830 Send the directories for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    • Please wait "the Activation' Messages, one per already configured e-mail account, arrive in your Messages. If you have not already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

    (3) restart to take batt

    • Each time a random strange behavior or slow creeps, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the hood back and remove the battery. Wait a minute, then replace the battery and cover. Power on and wait patiently through the long reboot - about 5 minutes. See if things return to functioning. Like all computing devices, BB suffers from memory leaks and others... with a hard reboot is the best remedy.

I hope that will move things again for you! If this isn't the case, then you must keep workign with your mobile service provider as is their network with which your BB is unable to communicate, and only they can look "behind the scenes", as well as degenerating into RIM if necessary.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS and OWA problem

Hello, I am the COMPUTER administrator for my company. I recently migrated our Windows Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange 2003 system to new hardware. We have a BlackBerry Curve 8530 that is configured to use BIS and OWA to get his e-mail on the BlackBerry.

Before the server migration, the BlackBerry smartphone has been able to send and receive email without problems. After migration, the unit can no longer send or receive e-mails. I tried to delete the account and add it again with the correct information and he added successfully. If I use deliberately false information he errors correctly, so I know that it's properly authenticate on my Exchange Server.

When I try to send an e-mail message to the device, the device indicates that the e-mail has been sent successfully. About 24 hours after sending the message, the device will indicate rather an error has occurred on this message and it says "general failure"... When I e-mail this user to internal and external addresses, electronic mail never gets sent to the device. About 24 hours after the first time, I added this email account to the device, he received a Blackberry message saying "this email account is not currently accessible by your BlackBerry device, so you can experience a delay in email delivery. This problem may be caused by a temporary problem with your email provider. BIS will continue trying to access that account. "I searched all over Google and can not find any information that helps me to solve these problems.

I am able to open that box mailbox in Outlook Web Access without any problem, our company intranet using the name of the server and the internet using our IP address from an external location. SSL is required, and I mention that by entering "https" in front of the address when I create the e-mail account on BIS.

I personally have not visited with the support of the Association, but the user of the device has brought the phone their twice and they claim that it is a problem on my end, but give no indication as to what could be the problem. I have checked OWA permissions/settings of the folder on the new server from the old server and have done my best to match to them, but it still does not work.

Can someone help me with this problem? Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

EDIT - I forgot to mention that I tried to delete the service books and their removal, as well as the reinstatement of the device on the network. Neither seems to make a difference.

Follow-up in case someone else has this problem in the future:

The problem was that the name of the certificate that is installed on the new server was not the same as on the old server. No one that I spoke to anywhere (ASBL or RIM) could help me understand this, it was just something that I tried and it worked. I changed the name on the certificate to match what it was on the old server and then the Blackberry was immediately able to send and receive correctly by using BIS and OWA.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS not connected?

    Hey

So I'm confused... My BIS does not at all... If I change the settings to 2G my BBM come out and my internet works but its eating my airtime.

My BIS is part of my cell phone contract and it is paid BY debit order is not my bis is exhausted?

    How can I fiiix?

You try to get the 3G service? What do you normally get?

Perform a simple reboot on the BlackBerry this way: with smart BlackBerry poweredphone, remove the battery for a minute and then reinsert the battery to restart. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most defects and errors of operating system, and you will lose any data on the device doing so.

    See if it works now.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS registered with another provider of services

    Users of the dear community,

Does anyone have an answer on how to save its BIS e-mail when you have the answer "this BlackBerry is registered with a different service provider.  "Please re-register this BlackBerry and check the URL matches the one provided by your service provider.

I have a Storm bought at SFR (France) and I would use it with Swisscom (Switzerland).

Thank you very much for your advice.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS override settings for the default mail provider?

So here's my situation. Recently, my college did this swtich to use an exchange server to manage e-mail to google apps. As it happened that I did receive emails on behalf of my school on my blackberry or Apple's mail application. It seems that my school did not day of the information out there to take account in the e-mail settings information database, googles servers. On my Macbook, I solved this problem by removing the account in my prefrences and then disconnected from the internet, so the mail app could not refer to the e-mail and then settings Apple database I entered the google imap server info manually. The problem is that I can't force BIS do not reference the list e-mail settings. Whenever I have delete and readd my bis school account it automatically recognizes as an Exchange account so that I can not add google imap settings. Is anyway around this or should I wait for my school contact RIM to update their new email settings?

Thanks in advanced for any help!

Hello and welcome to the community!

You can do... When you configure e-mail settings, put in the correct email address, but a bad password. This will result in it re - to ask for credentials. But he added, at the bottom of the screen, a tick box to supply the settings manually. Check this box and continue.

    Good luck!

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS does not mail for the last 1 - 2w?

BlackBerry 9000, Rogers. Mail server is an IMAP server that I run, running cyrus IMAPd.

At least a good year, he pushed email instantly to my BB. My server supports IMAP IDLE, and the BIS connection seemed to take advantage of this. Deliver the e-mail was almost instantaneous, and I've always had the buzzing blackberry at least as fast as the e-mail appeared on my desktop computer.

In the past 1 - 2w, it was push e-mail, he acted in the famous mode 'to interrogate 15 minutes. " Of course, which is nothing near as desirable.

I didn't have any (known) server configuration changes, and my desktop e-mail clients seem to use IDLE happily as always. I checked with a manual session IDLE is still supported by my imap server.

Rogers/RIM change something? Any chance they intend to change it back soon?

On your BlackBerry device, go to:

    1. options > advanced > host Routing Table > Menu > register.

2 send your service from your carrier's BIS site books:
    Of your handheld: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402

Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and sign. Then under help!, select Service books and select send service books.

    Your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
Carriers worldwide - find your operator from the list

    3. with the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart. This restart, even if you have already done this, is often necessary to install the service books.

If it does not help after one day, remove and re-add your email to the BIS accounts.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS in China

    Hello!

I have a Bold 9700 with T-Mobile USA. I have BIS not BES, activated at home. I want to access my mail while I'm in China. With International Email add on, I could access my email from the Japan and England. Is it possible if I am in China or Tibet? Is not clear whether BIS works in China. Some forums say that BES works in China.

I don't want to swap my SIM card. I want to only use BIS when I'm there.

Anyone know if my Blackberry works in China and Tibet?

    Thank you.

Can someone please explain the difference between:

    BIS, BES, BIS & BES

and how do I determine what I have?

BIS = BlackBerry Internet Server.  This is used for your personal (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo) email and your email with your carrier (Sprint, Verizon, AT & T, etc.)

= BlackBerry Enterprise Server BES.  It comes to your company's server and this is where your work email would be set up to.

Leaving the Data service IT is not really an option because she seems to stick like a leech of data in time and it accumulates over time for a bit of my credit voucher. No, data services should be lit, otherwise wifi will not work either.

  • Smartphones blackBerry BIS in Germany for the Base Manager. ePlus does not work

    Hello

I'm a little desperate because RIM seems to be is not accessible to the ordinary guy. Maybe someone here can help.

Someone knows when in Germany the BIS for telephony mobile provider Base respectively eplus working again?

I only see a '3g' (with small g) and no logo BB indicating that BIS is not available. Base told me to ask the RIM; they don't have any information when BIS becomes operational.

    Thank you very much

    Axel

They give you the wrong info. BIS is a RIM service, there is no doubt about that. But customers must contact the carrier for all kinds of support. If the carrier is unable to resolve the problem, then they it will intensify to the RIM using established channels.
