  Hello! I need to know if there is a way to activate a copy of Windows 7 Professional of after-market facility. My boyfriend bought a laptop about 8 months ago at a friend. His friend has installed a new operating system before selling. Boyfriend is not very gifted in computer science and has not activated within 30 days of activation-registration/product key, because he never uses the laptop.   It's pretty easy:
  1. Click Start, click Help, and then search for help on "Backup". Familiarize yourself with the concepts explained in there.
  2. Buy a 4 or a flash drive 8 GB ("USB key") for about $10.00.
  3. Connect it to your laptop.
  4. Open Control Panel / backup and restore.
  5. Back up your data on the flash drive.
  6. Take the flash for a friend PC drive.
  7. Restoring a few files to ensure that you can open them.
  8. After the factory restore, restore the data from the flash drive.
  9. Use the flash drive in the future as your regular backup media. Remember that all important files should be backed up - without exception!

  I suggest that you use the telephone method to activate. In a command prompt (ADMIN), type Slui 4, choose your country and follow the instructions. When connected to an automatic connection say or do nothing until you are transferred to a technician to live and then explain in detail your problem and it should be able to help to activate your computer.   Here's my problem.

  I had Windows 8 Pro Portable one. I was using the developer preview of Windows 8.1 for awhile now.
  Now that the final version of W8.1 will be available next month, I thought to install Windows 8 and put my phone to receive 8.1.
  But now, the Pro 8 Win is not activating. I get a message that says that the key is not valid, and I need to get another key.
  Is it because I had Win Pro 8 approximately 2-3 months back that has been activated and I try to turn it on again?

• New computer that is running Windows 7 does not recognize my external hard drive completely

  I bought a new PC with windows 7.  I use an external hard drive with USB to move the files from the old PC (XP) to the new PC.

  When I go to 'my computer' focus on the external hard drive storage devices is not displayed.

  When I go on my devices, the external hard drive appears.  When I look at the details on this HD and pushes to execution, windows States there are no problem.

  The clues of what I need to do so that I can look at the files on my external hard drive?

  I've struggled for some time with this one, here's how I finally solved it.  Apparently, USB drivers for mass storage devices was not compatible with my external hard drive.  I simply uninstalled the USB drivers for mass storage devices, then plugged my hard drive.  Automatically downloading appropriate drivers, and I was good to go.

• I get an error message that the downloaded Windows 7 is not a valid ISO file when you use Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.

  I would like to install Windows 7 32 bit Home Premium on one of my old notebooks - I have the license key, but no media. The DVD - ROM drive is not reliable stuff, so I thought that a USB stick installation would be worth a try.

  I have downloaded the file ISO in Digital River today, only copied the hard drive of my computer.  I installed the MS tool to make a bootable USB key.  When I select the ISO file I have downloaded, I get an error message that is not a valid ISO file.  No idea why?  He came from Digital River, so it should be a good record.
