Spectral power sinewave AWR VSS level

Hi all

Could a good colleague AWR user wanting to help me with responding to a question concerning my use of a measure of the power spectrum - use of the SPECTRUM of VSS-> PWR_SPEC function?

It's a simple question, but I think I need help from experienced users of AWR to help me.

In VSS, I simply used a sine-source to generate a sine wave of 1 kHz with an amplitude of 1V (PIC)... in other words 2V peak-to-peak. Then I simply put this sinusoid through a real signal to the converter complex (R2C) module. And then I put in place two simple measures of VSS. A fair measure was to observe the time - the wave of the sine wave - to make sure that I was getting 1 kHz and 1V (peak amplitude). The other measure involved simply by using measurement of PWR_SPEC to look at the spectrum of the sinusoid.

For a sinusoidal 1V peak, I calculate that the RMS 1/sqrt (2) amplitude. And if the reference resistance is 50 ohms, so I calculate that the power of the sine wave (Vrms ^ 2) / 50, which is 10 mW (IE 10 dBm).

For the sine wave spectrum, I expect to see two spectral lines, one at 1 kHz with an amplitude of the component of 0.5 and a to 1 kHz (negative frequency) also of amplitude of the component of 0.5. In terms of power and with a 50 ohm reference resistor, then is the power in the component of 1 kHz (V ^ 2) / 50 = (0,5 ^ 2) / 50 = 5 mW. And the power of the component-1 kHz is also 5 mW. Thus, the sum of the power of these two gives 10 mW, which is what I expect because the total is equal to the computed RMS power above (in the sine wave).

Now, in simulations of VSS, simulation results are indicating that the power of the component 1 kHz is 2.5 mW (i.e. 3.979 dBm). And also indicates that the power of the component-1 kHz is also 2.5 mW (3.979 dBm). So the results of the simulation, the total power is 5 MW, which is exactly half of the value I want.

So for now, it seems that the levels of spectral power of the simulations of VSS components are always 3 dB LESS than what I calculate. So half the power is lost somewhere.

Can I ask other users of AWR, if I set up the simulation properly (or not) and point me in the right direction? I think I'm just not using the Simulator correctly and just need some advice to put me on the right track. Or if I get things set up properly, then I'm missing an important step as the calibration for the measurement of another point of reference?

SINUS block with a complex output, by default, uses the representation complicated envelope with a frequency equal to that of the sinus. So, if you place a measure of its output waveform, it will display a constant power of (1 + j0). The CTRFRQ = 0 setting will allow you to 'Center' of the signal in the DC and see a sine wave at its output. The spectrum of a complex sound signal will contain only a single tone to + value of the QRU. The two points to + FRQ and - FRQ, with 7 dBm power, each will be displayed only for a real signal if you view all frequencies in the spectral measure.

You can find detailed information on this subject, as well as calculating corresponding, by doing a search on "complicated envelope representation" online. The main thing is that the complex representation of a sound signal will be A * [cos(2*pi*f*t) + j * sin(2*pi*f*t)]; However, when you use R2C you get only the real part, A * cos(2*pi*f*t), therefore half of the power you would get a SINE block with an exit node complex.

    Hello

I try to get the cross-spectral power and consistency of the two signals. I should be able to get this:

"The cross-spectral power and consistency of these 2 signals have been calculated on a window (8.5 minutes) 1024-sample using the fast Fourier transform applied to the 3 overlapping of the panes of 512-sample in the window of 1024 consistency." In each pane, the data were the first linear straightened and with windows by using the Hanning (cosine) function before the calculation of the Fourier transform. The 1024 coherence window was so advanced by 256 samples (2.1 minutes), and the calculation repeated until all BDUS/interval of N - N series have been analyzed.

We used the product of consistency and the cross-spectral energy to weight these 2 effects in order to quantify the degree of the hitch.

I should get this chart type

The RR signal I straightened before that trying to get the power crossed with sampling freq = 2. And I put 2 ways to get it.

consistency too and later the product of the two. Im trying to get the spectrogram and watch later 3d like picture.

    I have attached the vi.

    Consistency is perhaps badly fixed.

    Thanks for the help, guys.

    Kind regards.

you made a few mistakes, example en by overhauling it you can't do the segments overlap, that's why you should go with a loop and the creation of a subset (and this is why I suggested para window ASD)

You must also set the indexing of the product release and do not concatenate, penny you released 2d end that you can use for 3d graphics

  • Total radiated power units (PowInfo)

Hi, I'm a RESONATOR using AXIEM circuit design and I would estimate the radiative power loss. Specifically, I would like to know what fraction of power transmitted to port 1 of my design is lost in the form of radiation. Since it is a relative value, I expect a certain number of dB.

I created a measure (electromagnetic > antenna > PowInfo > radiated power) and specified use FSAMP to the x axis, generating a curve on my chart as expected.

How should I interpret the units of the graph resulting? Legend of the plot has the power radiated is given in dBm - then, units of power absolute. It seems that the absolute amount of radiated power would depend on the power used to drive the circuit. Such measures take a particular drive power and the port of entry, for example 0 dBm to port 1 of the circuit? I have not found such a specification in my search for the documentation.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    Big question.

The piece you are missing according to me, is that in your configuration of structure EM, you configure the ports either be sources or endings for the analysis of the antenna.   Click on one of the ports and you will see the settings for these.   It becomes a little more complicated that any port can be a source.  By default, the first port is a source, and the rest are ports of endpoint that is probably what you want in your RESONATOR circuit.    The point being, it's that the radiated power must be a level of absolute power, as you drive your circuit with a level of absolute power.

I hope that explains what is happening.

  • Y450 screen turns off after 5 minutes, set to never power settings

The display on my Y450 turns off after 5 minutes if it is connected or not. I changed the power settings on all levels of the power to never turn off the display, but he keeps doing. I thought that maybe it had something to do with windows is not fully updated so I did it earlier today, but it has not changed. It doesn't matter whether the system is energy saving, balanced or a custom.

I don't know what to do to stop it, but it's annoying when I play videos and turn the screen on every 5 minutes. Is there another program I'm missing that somehow overrides the power settings?

You may also need to change the power settings for the windows power management and lenovo power management.

We also know, that the problem persists only watch movies?

  • Looking to update my video card without upgrading my power 250 Watt on my Pavillion 6837c

Looking for suggestions as to what would be a good update on the cheap card I recently added 14 GB of RAM so the thing is fast enough, that I would like to just the films to be a little more transparent, any suggestions? Thank you! -josh

    Joshua, welcome to the forum.

Any video card that would work with your power supply (PSU), be much, if any, better than the integrated video.  New middle level cards require at least 350W to 400W power.  Therefore, if you don't want to upgrade the PSU, I recommend staying with the integrated graphics subsystem.  In fact, the problem is to find a card that works.  Manufacturers do not give the requirements of power on their lower level cards.

If you decide to improve the PSU, I like Corsair and OCZ.  That would give you many more choices of cards.  I love EVGA, Sapphire, XFX and PNY in that order.

Note: Remember that your system is not as good as the weakest component.  With the CPU and memory that you have a better map would greatly increase performance.

  • On the new Satellite C50-A-19U battery problem

    Hello

A few days ago I bought a new notebook Satellite C50-A-19U.

Everything works without problems, except when I unplug the power cable, the battery level goes from 100% to 50% both.

If I try to charge the phone, battery load normally up to 50% and then spend 50% to 100%.

    Anyone facing this problem?

I don't really know what may be the problem here. Try to use the battery until it will be completely empty and let it be fully charged again.

Please watch carefully if the same happens again and send feedback.

  • HP pavilion p6-2469ea: upgrade help

Hi, I currently plan on upgrading my hp pavilion p6-2469ea to be able to run more demanding games upstairs, as the ARK: survival has evolved and I have no experience with computers I'm stuck help then about what it needs to be updated and some recommendations would be much appreciated. Just to note that I have already updated the 8 GB ram.

    @TomM123, welcome to the forum.

Here are the system requirements for ARK: survival has evolved:

    http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=23214 & Game = Ark: % 20Survival % 20Evolved

It is clear from your processor and memory are fine.  I suggest that you upgrade to at least a 750Ti GTXvideo card.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.

You may need to upgrade the power supply (PSU), also.  The EVGA 750Ti said it will work with a power supply with 300W.  However, most of the members have reported needing at least 400W.  If you replace the power supply, I love the Corsair products.  A modular power supply is best for medium-sized business.  It allows you to use only the cables than absolutely necessary.  I recommend at least 500W.  This will give you a high power for the maximum level of use.

A final element that will make a major difference is an SSD.  I love Samsung SSD.  They seem to move better without the need to change the BIOS settings.  The only need is to make sure that the BIOS is set to AHCI.  The DSS will not work if it is not setup in this way.

  • How to make a transformation of Fourier data acquired over a long period?

    Hello

I am trying to configure Labview such as my data will be collected during the 10ish minutes and then have it handle all data in a Fourier transformation. I know that measuring the spectral power "tool" allows for the FFT, but my current attempts seem to have LabVIEW occupying in a limited time with a value of measures. Would it not be possible to achieve my goal without having to resort to the backup of the data I do then compile and analyze separately?

  • Lose the connection to the USB device

    Hi all

I have developed an automated system that serves to calibarate lines scales. These scales are usually between 10mm and 150mm long and 0.1 mm and lower divisions. I use a camera to determine the edge/position of the divisions. A step of translating Physik Instrumente (USB) and a motor piezo high-resolution from each division. A laser Interferometer is used to measure the distance, the engines are passed (i.e. the distance between the divisions).

In the program, I have the ability for the user to define a start time for the calibration, for example 02:00.

My problem is from 02:00 in the morning, the computer is spent in screen/power saver mode. This leads to the stage of translation of Physik Instrumente to disconnect and causes an error that interrupts the program. In the morning, when I come back, the error is on the screen and when I press on continue the program continues as usual.

So what I'm looking for is a way to remedy this situation. I tried without success to the following:

Disable the screen/Power Saver - The IT Dept here mode won't let me not because several users have access to this program, they have to disable for each user.

Disabling the power management in the usb port properties had no effect.

I also tried a Subvi who would hover over a position on the screen in the hope that this would stop the computer into energy saving mode. Needless to say, it did not work.

    Any ideas would be appreciated,

    Thank you very much

  • HP 8560w: CPU clock stuck at maximum speed

I am under W7 Pro 64 bit on an HP Elitebook 8560w, with i7 2820QM. Yesterday after installing a new device (external finger scanner), I noticed that the fan is running too high. I checked the CPU usage, it has been very low: up to 5%. The processor clock, however, remained at its maximum all the time. I thought - there is a problem with the device driver that is the cause. So I deleted the device in Device Manager, also checked the box to remove the software from the device. No change - problem still there. I've used windows restore for the restoration of control point before the installation of the device. Still not good.

Then I searched the web for similar problems, could not really find anything very close to my problem. There were some suggestions to update the BIOS, which I did and it did not help. When I let the CPU to 100% its maximum clock, it works in 3.1 GHz (CPU - Z) and the temperature is 88 degrees celsius at rest (ouch!). I turned down in the power settings to work 75% maximum, which turns to ~1.6GHz and then the temperature is not so dangerous, that the fan is now not so much.

I found some tips to use msconfig, try the boot, which also did not help, but then I tried to disable all the services (in msconfig) and see if that helps. Long story short, if I let all services enabled except 'Power', my CPU running at 3.1 to 3.4 GHz (still not as low as I hope), but at least it is not blocked at speed. And - most importantly - the temperature of the CPU is a reasonable 53 - 58, despite the high clock frequency.

So here's my question - any idea what could be wrong with my laptop? Why is it still ongoing at a higher clock speed? I have another machine, a desktop computer with i7 2600 and who works 50% clock most of the time, is that max under a higher load.

    Yes, I solved it.

The problem was inside the app to scan finger. She defined the level of CPU power to maximum during the initialization of the external finger scanner (to avoid possible problems with bandwidth USB) and it should unset it is. Unfortunatelly the endpoint does not work in my case and the level of CPU power remained on the maximum level. Problem has been resolved by application of the small command line (SetCpuPowerLevel) provided by the supplier of the application, which has the power to the processor level back to default.

  • NEITHER 9219 variable excitement?

    Hello

    I have a NOR cDAQ-9174 with three connected modules: 9219, 9263, 9211.

I like the excitement of the output of the 9219 control power source. I would like to firstly the exodus between 0 and 2.5 V, but everytime I try it gives me an error and allows me only to 2.5 (in half-bridge or full-bridge mode).

    Any ideas?

    Hello

The info is limited so far, it seems that you plan to use excitement 9219 alone to control another 3rd device. This isn't the intended use of the 9219, and it might be difficult to do. It also seems you want to excite the 3rd unit (power supply) at different levels of tension between 0V and 2.5V. This unit can provide only levels of excitement very limited at discrete intervals as seen on page 31 of the user manual.  These apply for certain types of tasks. I suspect that another device as for example analog output module or other device would be the best in this application.

In summary: It seems that this is beyond the scope of this device. Other devices of the C-series would be more appropriate. More information would be useful to determine the best route to take from here.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on HP Pavilion DV2208e.
A week using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, the screen went black and all the lights on the laptop has continued. I tried to stop the laptop by pressing the power button, but it did not work. The only way to stop the laptop was to unplug the power cord. The next morning, that I started it again, with a notice "Windows did not close properly, how you want to proceed.» I opted for "start Windows normally". It seems to work very well, with the expection that the date had re-fixed at the date where Vista was installed first of all a few years ago. Later, when I tried to stop the laptop by choosing from the menu start 'Shut down', the laptop shuts down normally, but then 2-3 seconds more later handed on himself. I tried several times and it's always the same, the way to stop it is by pressing the power button, then whenever it restarts it new note that Windows not stop correctly. Also the black screen crash turned up almost every two days.

I tried reinstalling antivirus and did a full scan. Also used ccleaner and décliqués "Automatically restart" in the advanced system settings. But nothing seems to have worked so far.

In computer management, I can see critical events that seem to correspond to the time when the black screen error occurred. They say the following:
