Speed up printing on wireless network

I can not print quicken reports from my laptop to the wireless network printer.  I can print from other applications. The printer indicates that by default, and a signal is sent to it, it prints a blank page, but no report.

Any thoughts?

1 have you ever able to print Quicken reports?  If so, what has changed?

2. what make and model printer?

3. what version of Quicken?

As printing from other applications, this isn't really a Windows problem, but is rather a problem of Quicken.  Here's a post from about 6 months ago in the forum of Quicken on what seems to be the same problem you have.  There are a few suggestions, but no reports on the question of whether one of them has worked--> https://qlc.intuit.com/post/show_full/dKFfGyBPCr4jynacfAralO/printer-em-problem-em?p=1&q=printing+problem&s=2

Can you print on the Quicken PDF printer and get a non-empty PDF file?

An alternative the Quicken PDF printer is free CutePDF Writer, but print to a pdf file using either the Quicken PDF printer or CutePDF Writer is really not a very satisfactory situation.

  • Deskjet 6988 printer to wireless network (laptop Envy w / Windows 8.1)

I got my printer HP Deskjet 6988 years and still it was connected to my desktop via a USB 2.0 cable. I bought a laptop HP Envy with Windows 8.1 and want to connect the printer through my servant/Belkin router network, as the USB 2.0 cable provided with the printer does not seem to work in the USB ports of the desire for direct printing. The software disk did not work in the laptop, so I downloaded the software and utility software (printing and scanning) to 8.1 on the HP site.

I ran the download, the installation wizard has started, said "the wizard will connect to the internet and help install the best software available for your printer." I clicked on next, and opens a window "Device discovery" and then an another "recovering the device" then... nothing.  The wizard window closes. My installation manual is useless. It tells me to use the wizard on the software disk that does not work on my laptop (and is obsolete and for the operating system still wrong, because it was for my office, which took place on VIsta.)

I somehow managed to get the printer installed on the laptop - I can see it under the available printers.  And if I have an ethernet cable connected directly from the printer to my router, it will print. But if I unplug the ethernet cable, it will not print. I can't keep the ethernet cable is connected for printing, because the router is in my living room, behind the TV and my office is on the floor. I prefer not to keep my printer on the floor of the living room by our TV, so I really need to work wireless!

My problem is how to make the printer added to my network (Belkin router) servant. The wireless router is all set up and functional - I use actually it from now to access the internet and to post this message.

So, my printer is installed on my laptop. The driver is the most recent, intalled today HP.com and I don't have a software disc to use for a Setup Wizard.

What are the next steps to connect my printer on the network, so I can print wireless? If all goes well, I gave enough information. I have read all sections of the HP.com customer help on service and none of them seem to tell me what to do.

    Thank you!

By a lot of trial and error, I actually thought about it myself. I did a lot of jumping around, so I hope that I can remember what I did:

    (1) install the printer driver using the diskette or download.

    (2) connect the printer to the router by an ethernet cable, which looks like a big phone cord (no need to connect the printer to your laptop).
    3) implement the system of the laptop 'search' on your laptop and in search type "Network" and then click on the 'Network' link to open it.

    (4) you should see the icon for the printer on your computers and other devices already present on the network.

    (5) double click/tap on the icon of the printer and it will open 'web page' the printer in your browser.

    (6) click / tap the 'Network' tab near the top of the scren.

    (7) in the left sidebar, under 'Connections', click 'Wireless' to open it.

    (8) start and use the wizard to enter your router information. (You must specify the printer a different name here, so you can distinguish it from all other printers on your laptop.) For example, I named mine "Deskjet" 6988 Network)

    (9) unplug the power cord of the printer ethernet.

    (10) If your wireless printer does not appear in the list of printers when you go to print something, you'll need to add:

    11) open looking for new portable computer system and type "Devices and printers" and click / tap on the link.

    12) click on the link "Add a printer" upward. The computer will search for printers and the new network printer should appear in the list (hint: he wil have an IP address in the 'Address' column rather than a file.)

    (13) add the network printer and run the test to ensure that it works. Make your default printer and may delete all other 6988 printers listed if you want to.

    (14) you should now see your network printer in the printer list when you go to print something.

I hope this helps someone else someday!

  • problem with printing on wireless network

    Hello. I have a HP psc 2410 all-in-one printer.

I recently bought a modem router that has a function called "print server" and I decided to use this feature and print via wifi. I put it to the top, but with a problem. When I print something, for example, test page, instead of printing a page, it will print 'test page' on 3 pages (something like partial pages and the last = third page is printed without understanding) and then it freezes (the printer display says 'printing' and I have to cancel the job, otherwise it crashes and I have to reconnect it). I have this problem, not only in the test page but at least IE, office, PDF files. This concerns mainly the Wifi, since if I connect the printer directly to the PC or laptop via usb, it works quite well. also I tried printing with different laptops with wifi but no go. Here is more information that I have forget:

    (1) router is WPA - PSK encryption type.

    (2) there is no mac filtering or hide SSID passes.

    (3) a laptop and an iPad is connected to the router via wifi and a PC which is connected by a LAN cable.

    (4) the IP address of the printer, this is the same as the IP for the router settings page. (192.168.0.1)

    (5) I can't open the printer's internal web page by entering the IP address of the printer in the browser, since it is the same as the IP address of the router.

    (6) firewall on my computer (windows 7 32-bit) laptop is turned off and I don't use any anti-virus.

    (7) I tried PHYSICIAN analysis AND HP Print, but he says that the printer is OK.

    Thank you

    Leland

EDIT: after studying for hours, I finally managed to get rid of the problem of gel. now, there is just one problem of this partial impression that happens by chance on wifi! I mean, it happens sometimes and sometimes not.

any suggestions? I would really appreciate it

The background is that this printer has no way to connect more than a straight USB connection.   In order to make wireless you have a device that will give him a network IP address.  The printer itself is unable to do this.

The only way to get this printer on a network is to buy a SEPARATE USB print server.   Or, buy a router separate, as I said, that has a USB connection on the back which will have supported printers.

You can not connect as you wish as it stands right now.

However, call your ISP and have them set up IF their gateway device has a USB connection and really can support a printer.  That's their problem.

We have a home wireless network with some XP and some Vista computers.  Printers are on a Hawking Technologies print server.  We may set and access printers on all computers.  However, after a certain amount of time passes, Vista computers display printers server as 'offline '.  This does not happen on the XP computers.  The only remedies are to reboot Vista computers or drop and redefine the printers.  Y at - it a setting I missed that will maintain the connection to the print server?  If not, is there a command that will be re - connect to the print server without having to reboot?

    Thank you.

    Hi Mary,

We would like to get a little more information to help with your problem.  You better, please answer the following questions.

    • What is the model number of the print server?  You can try to install an update of firmware for it.
    • This happens on the Windows Vista PC while it is idle or in use?
    • The PC Windows Vista go to standby or hibernation until the problem occurs?
    • The Windows Vista PC are updated with the Service Pack 1?

    • Click on the Start ORB, then type cmd in the box start the search
    • Clic click on cmd in the programs list, and then select run as administrator
    • If, you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue
    • At the command prompt, type the following commands and press enter after each one

    net stop spooler
    and then
               net start spooler

This will stop and restart the print spooler service.  If this solves the problem of the printer is offline, please let us know.

  • How to connect the Officejet Pro 8100 printer to wireless network

Bought a "nine" Officejet Pro 8100 and want to use via my wireless network. The CD supplied with the printer is obsolete. Updated Apple software but can't see how to connect the printer to the network. Getting Started Guide is no help on this issue. Searched for support without result pages. Utility HP does not provide a method to set up a wireless feature. Find all the instructions, I say first of all make sure that the printer is connected to the wireless network, and that's what I can't find out how. What I forget?

Finally, I called HP hotline for help and was rescued. It turns out that Apple's software update software includes all the required components. The software from the HP Web site is no longer available. It's frustrating to see the Getting Started Guide refer frequently to the HP installation wizard and be unable to locate it. Once the wizard tech took control of my computer and installed the necessary software, it was a breeze!

I also note that compose the support number to talk with a guy was rather brief: between 1 and 2 minutes, I recall. Although there was a menu of the phone, it was not a large (unlike the attempt labyrinthine and often circular to locate the online help).

Insofar as HP knows the necessary software in not available via software update or directly from HP, wouldn't make sense to inform buyers, as well as how to access? At least do not place meaningless, useless on the Web site links that lead into oblivion and frustration!

Although I did appreciate the journey, I finally arrive at my destination. Thanks to Aris, HP technician. You are exceptional!

  • Printer offline wireless network

    Hello

I have a wireless network at home printer and a USB printer to the office. The scenario is like this.

I use a laptop with Vista.
At home, I put my printer wireless as a default printer.
I print some documents and everything's fine.
I go to the office and forget to change the default printer.
Of course, when I try to print it goes to the wireless printer which is now in offline mode.
Now when I go home and connect to the network, the printer is still showing in offline mode.
I expect the printer to launch the online display once connected to the home network.
I am not able to find a way to put online.
I tried turning the printer market and resume all documents.

The only way I found was to delete the printer and add it back into the printers menu. However, it's tidious.

Is there a simple solution to this problem? I get in this situation several times and need an easier solution.

(Note that my laptop is in hibernation when I close the lid. It is not completely stopped.)

    Thank you.

    Mike.

    Hi Hdhavali,

    Try this step.

    1. click on Start, type printers in the start search box and press ENTER. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently installed on your computer.

    2. double-click on the icon of the printer that you want to change online. It will open a pop-up window describing all current print jobs.

    3. go to "printer" in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck the box 'Use printer offline'. This action will change the printer from offline to online mode.

If that's not enough then you may need to delete and add a printer as you may have guessed.

  • OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z: HP Office Jet 4500 G510n-z fails to print over wireless network

    Hello

Earlier my XP (Dell D620) machine stopped printing wireless with my officejet 4500 G510n-z. My Windows 7 D630 prints wirlessly without any problem. I have download the current HP drivers without result. I looked at other positions, but none of the viable solutions. The 4500 G510n-z appears as a printer, but all print jobs end with an error. I can't print a test page, Notepad, etc. All jobs appear on the queue, but they all error. It seems to be a specific problem of the XP. I have XP pro version 2002 Service pack 3. My network is just a Verizon Fios wireless router. In windows 7, I can see the actual address of the Hp wireless connection when the printer is added. Under Xp I do not see the address wireless when I try to add the printer. Now, it appears in the list of printers on XP but 7 seems to see the actual address wireless and allows me to select it to add the printer. I plugged the XP machine to the printer and it would work for a while then stops working. Don't know what triggers the loss of connection. How can I specify the connection 4500 G510n-z XP? I tried to add the IP address I see on my 7 machine but XP wants to a path of the server which is //server etc., UNC path.

I went in the properties of the printer and changed the address to match the 7 IP 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.9 Windows 7 XP, but not go again.

    Thank you

    Hello @adb1779,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. Because the ping tests on both computers is successful when communicating with your wireless printer, it turns out that you do not encounter a network issue at all. On the contrary, there is either a program of 'blocking' of printing wirelessly on your XP computer or computer XP is not "like" the fact that you have changed the IP address of 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.9. It would seem that your XP computer is a former connection with the printer. To resolve this problem, please follow the steps below.

    Step 1: Launch MSCONFIG:

I'll have you temporarily disable all programs background on your XP system to see if there is a program that runs in the background on your Windows XP computer that would block communication with your printer.

    1. Click on the Start menu
    2. Click run. In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and click OK
    3. When the System Configuration window opens select 'Selective Startup ' and uncheck load startup items
    4. Click the Services tab, check the box at the bottom to hide all Microsoft Services
    5. Select disable all
    6. Select apply and OK
    7. Computer restart when prompted

When your Windows XP computer turns please try printing. If the printer works correctly now it would mean that a program was blocking the communication. If the problem persists, proceed to the steps below.

    Step 2: Uninstall the drivers:

I understand that you have already done this in the past without result. However, if your product is identified as on 192.168.1.3 she is not installed correctly, or an earlier version of the printer with an old IP isn't be properly removed from the system. It is crucial for the repairs we have a clean slate to work with. Please follow the steps below.

    1. Click on the Start menu
    2. Click on programs
    3. Select the HP folder
    4. Select your HP Officejet
    5. Select Uninstall
    6. Please follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.

Once the uninstall is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Clear the server properties:

Your printer driver can also be installed under the print server properties. I'll have to make sure your driver has been completely removed from both print server.

    1. click on the Start menu

    2. Select Printers. You may need to go to the Control Panel then Printers and faxes.

    3. in printers and faxes click on file and select Server properties

    4. in the print server properties window, select the drivers tab

    5. If your HP Officejet is listed, click on it and select Remove downstairs.

    6. a new window opens, click on Remove only the driver. Click OK.

    7. Select apply and then OK in the print server properties window.

    8. close printers and fax machines.

Step 4: Delete the temporary files:

    1. Click on the start menu
    2. Select run. In the Run dialog box, type %temp% , and then click OK
    3. Click on the Start menu
    4. When the Temp folder opens, Select the first item in the Temp folder and tap the SHIFT key on your keyboard.  Now Shift while, scroll down a few lines and click on another element in the file. What is between these two elements will highlight.
    5. Select the "delete" button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains the temporary internet files. None of the actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting Temp files. If a Temp file be used yet that you will automatically get the pop-up that you can't delete this item. The "deletion" process is cancelled. On Windows Vista, 7 and 8 of Windows you can just "jump" from the items which will not delete. Unfortunately, on Windows XP, it is not so easy. Take note of this point is unable to delete. Then, ignore this element. Click on the next element in the list, hold the SHIFT key and click another item in the list to remove another piece of elements. You will continue this tedious step until all items in the Temp folder which will remove are deleted.
    6. Close the Temp folder when it is empty
    7. Right-click the recycling bin on your desktop and select empty recycling bin

    Step 5: Reinstall the drivers:

    1. Please click here to download the drivers for your printer
    2. Once the site opens click on the download button at the top left
    3. Once the download is complete, follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall your printer wireless
    4. Once your printer is properly reinstalled please try again to print wireless.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

I used to have WRT54G2 and everything works fine. Then I switched to the new E3000, he couldn't pick up my printer.

I found a solution online activate transfer IP HP Officejet 6500 192.168.1.144, it works but not more after turn off and on printer. I reconfigure my printer wireless several times, it still works just after installation, but whenever I have to disable my printer and then turn it back on, I can't reach it wireless. My network will not pick up my printer unless I have to go through all the hassle to set up printer again whenever I use it.

I guess that this is caused by the new E3000 router because I had no problem with my old router wrt54g2. How can I fix it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

If your printer takes any IP address directly from the router then you might face the problem, as the IP address of your printer will continue to change right away.

If you know the IP address of the printer, then on your computer opens IE and in the address bar, type the IP address of your router, once you connect to the printer Interface, then you can configure a static IP address to your printer which is outside the list of DHCP client table.

Once you have done with the configuration, then re-install the printer software and that will solve your problem.

I have two laptops with XP and one with Windows 7 64 bit. Both connected to a router Wireless Linksys - internet connections well, feel very good on the two machines. All of a sudden, my printer does not print anything from any of my devices. Just print items get saved in the queue. The printer is connected to the router, all configuration and test pages that it's good and ready. I have windows 7.

OMG! I can't believe that the fix was something so simple.   I had installed a new router.  Windows for some reason, creates a virtual printer with a disk of Web Services and the port (which did not work or I do not know how to configure it properly) and removed my printer "hard."  I went just to network, add a printer, it finds the printer hard origin, I added it, deletes it on the virtual ports of WSD, and now everything is new to print properly!
