Start satellite C50-A-1-JM

The history of my problem would be too long and tedious, I will simply say that I erased all (thanks KillDisk, it works very well ) my hard drive and now it is whiter than white! so I can not boot in any way: whenever I get the message "No disc bootable, change it and type any key to continue." (as if I could swap my hard drive from the laptop to the other!).
It is likely that I destroyed a boot firmware I need to reinstall but which and how? ...
If anyone can help me to restore my boot, I thank him (her) in advance.
Sincerely, Michael.

Sorry, no help, but I don't have one of those less than 2 years, and after the last update of Tempro "ready for windows 10" it has become very slow, after stopping it just entered a 'repair auto/recovery cycle' on every reboot no matter how long it has been left in the market or off between reboots.
Before you take a hammer to it (I bought something else) I turned on it once more and finally he started to display the "no boot device - please reboot ' message. I tried to restart and each time after the "Toshiba leading innovation" screen it will 'check media' then ' no boot device - please reboot "-seems to be a common fault judging by the number of post about it on the web.
Too bad that my old Toshiba Equium, although his age now, ran 24/7 almost all of 9 years with no problems cannot complain on that one.

  • Problem starting on several Satellite C50 - C70 models

The members of the forum and Toshiba, Hello

Recently, I sold several laptop Toshiba Satellite C50-70 and Satellite Pro series.

With most of them, I knew starting problems.
When turn on/off the laptop, I see the Toshiba Logo and then nothing happens.
I have to turn it on and turn it on again so he can start on Windows. (7 or 8.1)

Sometimes, I have to power OFF / ON several times.

What I see is that the NumLock light does nothing. If the system starts, I see this LED flashes on / off 2 times. So, I can see on forehand if the laptop to boot Windows or hangs at the Toshiba Logo.

    Anyone having the same problems?

I put t know if anyone has had this problem but I guess that if the books are new and covered under the Toshiba warranty, you must contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country to check the material part.

The Toshiba start screen freeze means that the POST (power on self-test) could not be transmitted correctly and it is especially a sign of hardware malfunction.

  • Only the C partition on the new Satellite C50-B-14Z

    Hello

I'm not an experienced user, but I'll do my best to explain the problem.

I bought Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14Z with 8.1 installed Windows, and when starting the system, I noticed that there is only one partition of hard drive, the C partition. When you enter the disk management, I see there are 4 basic partitions already (500 GB disk):

    -Recovery - 1 GB
    -EFI system - 100 MB
    -Recovery - 10.97 GB
-C (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) - 453,57 GB

They are all primary partitions, and I read on the forums that you can have only 4 those primary, so I can't add one more to the D partition, I would like to have.
Possibility that I offered in "actions" is to create a virtual hard drive, but I guess that is not the same thing.
I also read that you can create new partition if you have "unallocated" space (partition), but all 4 before indicated are those primary and not affected.

Then, the next opportunity that I read on is to do a right-click on C and "reduce volume", and then create new partition from the rest of the space (if I understand it is good), but then I read in Windows Help:
"When you shrink a partition, all regular files are automatically transferred to the disk to create the new unallocated space. There is no need to reformat the drive to shrink the partition. » ... "If the partition is a raw partition (that is, a lack of a file system) that contains data (for example, a database file)", reducing the partition may destroy the data. ""

Normally, I have never tested a large part with the C partition, and now I don't know if I would destroy some system files while doing this "shrinkage" and I don't have the CD installation for the system, so I can't fix it if I ruin something.

    Please advise...

Yes, this is the right way to have more than one partition. You can define what capacity should partition C and any free space can be "convert" to the D partition.

One last thing: don't forget to create a recovery (DVD or USB) media. It is very important to have recovery image back-up.

  • Satellite C50 - A - the upgrade to win little 8.1 win7

    Hello

I was wondering, I have the Windows 8.1, upgrade of the media that I had for my Toshiba Satellite C50 - A computer. Upgrade to 8.1 Windows and got the upgrade DVD, came with the laptop. So I do it just insert the DVD, click on Set up, or do I need to go back to factory settings, then insert the DVD and as a blind it student, will need sighted assistance.

Any help, advice, tips of people made this before. I have a 1 TB USB drive Toshiba external hard, so have saved all that and added a number of things today, but saved the rest of my stuff, docs, College work, emails, my settings for RSS feeds, contacts for outlook 2010, programs, music, TV, movies, bookmarks, etc, so all advice.

Going to do it tomorrow. make a programming course and the Professor uses windows 8.1, and need to develop windows blinds and windows phone apps.

The exact specification of your model is unknown to me, but I assume that you got your machine with recovery disc Win8.1 so if you want to use Win8.1, you must start your computer with the recovery disc and make clean OS install.

I don't know if you got your machine with Win7 preinstalled initially. If so create recovery media (DVD or USB) using pre-installed recovery disc creator Toshiba before you start the installation of Win8.1.
This created recovery media, you can use if you want to have the machine with Win7 again.

  • Installation of recovery on Satellite C50-A-1Jn

My son has a Satellite C50-A-1john and was doing a restore of the partition of drive hard, but stopped at halfway.

When it tries to start, it receives the message "no boot device - please reboot."

He did not create a floppy disk to restore his laptop, but I found where I can order one from Toshiba. Before I spend £30, I want to know if it will restore his laptop.

Recovery image installation can not be interrupted. Now, the laptop is confused and unbootable. Problem is that interrupted recovery installation cannot continue, cannot be started from the beginning and also not ended correctly.

What you need to do now is to get the installation of recovery disc and start the installation again.

After doing this you will have factory again and everything works OK.
Biggest mistake has been that media recovery is not created in the past.

    Serial number: 2E161369S

I hope you will reply quickly.

    Thank you.

    Hello

According to specifications specification , you got your laptop with the preinstalled version of Win8.1.
With other words, your laptop has been pre-installed with original recovery image designed for this model of laptop. Preinstalled recovery image should not be enabled.

Recovery image is also saved on the HARD drive and it is possible for you to create bootable recovery media (backup recovery) that you can use for the installation of original recovery image.
    > I'll reinstall my windows 8.1 which came preinstalled on my Toshiba laptop.
If I understand you right you try to use your laptop with the original recovery image again. Is this good?

I really don't know what's the problem here, but after the first start, connect your laptop to the Internet and complete the installation. Preinstalled Windows must be activated automatically.

  • Satellite C50 - secure boot not configured correctly build 9600

    Hello

Recently bought a refurbished nine Toshiba Satellite C50 8.1 of windows operating system. Was very happy with it but found the message 'not properly configured SecureBoot 9600 building "watermark in the lower right corner of my office. '.

Decided to search the Internet for a resolution and after being gone on 3 Troubleshooting sites, discovered on the necessary BIOS configuration, but he warned that it was for experienced users who know their stuff on the technical aspects of computers. While I am computer literate, I'm not someone who likes to mess with the advanced options. Then, I came across a reliable computer blog that had a detailed post on SecureBoot.

(Link to the blog post and specfic):
    www.techrepublic.com/blog/Windows-and-Office/deal-with-the-secureboot-isn't-configured-correctly-watermark-in-windows-81/)

I thought that that would solve my problem, and I have to admit that he helped, telling me to use windows powershell as a precaution before using the BIOS Setup. I was glad I did as it came in saying that I have a policy of SecureBoot of the present failure on my laptop which case I have to request technical support for a specific system solution that would generally be an update of the firmware.

I tried to call, but the line was busy and estimated it might be easier to post this question on a forum.

If anyone has an answer please help as I would like to really activate SecureBoot if possible, I believe that computers must be set up with the best possible security options and makes me feel comfortable in knowing that it is implemented safely.

Someone commented on the blog and posted this solution:

The fix for the registry to remove the watermark is as follows.
    1. start the registry with the Admin (C:\Windows\regedit) rights Editor
    2. navigate to the following location
    -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-Windows-CurrentVersion------policies------system.
    3. here, the two values "ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin ' and 'EnableLUA 'the value' 0'.

You can also try to activate the boot option secure in the BIOS (in which case it is not already selected)
To enter the BIOS, press F2 during the turn on/off the device.

Also recommend that you check this page from Microsoft:

  • Retrieve the Satellite C50-A570

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50-A570 month passes and the first thing I did was make a recovery disc and then after a few months, I had I have problem with the Windows 8.1-compatible so I decided to remove Windows 8.1 and install Windows 7 Professional and then I felt as if I want to go back to windows 8.1 so I installed app Toshiba Recovery and tried to use it and I'm not the recovery process It gave me an error message about partition recovery or something like that, then how can I recreate this recovery partition to be able to use the recovery discs?

    Thank you!

To be honest I don't understand what you're doing with Toshiba recovery application.

Created media is a support start-up and all you need to do is to put it into port bootable and launch the installation of recovery.
Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. Put the DVD created Connect USB bootable, then after having done that in the menu, choose the right device, and then press enter.

During the installation of recovery begins just follow the on-screen menu. More info on what you can read in the document of the user manuals.

  • Install Windows 7 on Satellite C50-A-1JT

    Hello world

I bought a brand new satellite C50-A-1JT PSCJGE of Romania with no OS.

First, I tried to install Windows 7 for about one day and does not start, on DVD or USB, only Windows 8, but after I searched on this topic, I discovered that I need to change my settings to MSC Boot UEFI bios and disable the startup of the Secué.

NOT A CHANCE. Instead of a normal BIOS I have that Setup Utility from Toshiba and I have only the option of Boot Order and Secure Boot, who don't have not helped me.

I thought that my BIOS is outdated (1.10)
So went on the Toshiba site and performed a search for an update of the BIOS and the only one was the following:
    [BIOS 1.30-VICTORY for a Satellite C55 - has, C50 - A: http://www.toshiba.com.ro/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?LNG=27&service=SE&selC fulltext = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 312 & selProduct = 793 4 & selShortMod = 4628 & language = 47 & selOS = 46 & selType = 4 & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & count ry = all & selectedLanguage = 47 & type = 4 & page = 1 & ID = 90346 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42]

.. but unafortunatelly, it's not available.

So, I have no chance of getting Windows 7 on this laptop?... because I hate 8

Many machines Win8 is supported for Win7 so, in general, you shouldn't have a few big problems. As you've written, you must first change the settings of the BIOS - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm

After that restart your computer and press F12. When the boot menu appears on the screen put Win7 installation disc into the optical disc drive, select CD/DVD as first boot device and press ENTER. ODD must begin to read the Win7 installation disc and the installation program will appear on the screen.

On this path, I installed Win7 on my U940 satellite.

Please try again and post comments.
