Stor E Alu 2.5 500 GB is not recognized correctly

I had it for 16 months and had no problems. I updated some files no problem of backup as usual Wednesday night.

When I plugged it again Thursday my computer laptop would not recognize him as he usually does, IE Toshiba USB 2.5 "-HARD drive with a logo of Toshiba."

Instead he just showed as a drive Local (F) and would not allow me to browse the files, saying it must be formatted before use.

Interestingly, when I go to "Remove hardware" it then shows that Toshiba USB 2.5 "-HARD drive and also shows that this in Device Manager."

I have a lot of information out there and then most are elsewhere and I don't lose a lot I want to get it back. Can anyone help with advice to get the job of training and to recover my files?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like you lost your partition information...
If another PC displays the same behavior... you need a software partition recovery good for get you data back like (Smart Partition Recovery).
Do not create a new partition because that's the way of lost with windows your data forever.

  • 3 TB Canvio Stor.E not recognized correctly in the USB 3.0 port

I have four of the HDWC130EK3J1 external Stor.E Canvio Desktop HDDs.
If more than one USB 3.0 drive is connected the partitions are not recognized.

The GPT partitions are displayed as MBR partition protection.
The MBR partitions are displayed as never applied.

The drive is detected correctly after that he was to reinsert and close ofd.
At the same time, only 1-3 partitions are recognized correctly.
This problem can be reproduced 8.1 running Win and Win 7 64 bit using two different computers, by using the USB Intel and Nec controller.

Currently, BIOS, update driver update. The HDDs are checked to find errors.
Is there an update to flash ready or a replacement for the external hard drive option?
Please note that a replacement with the same model makes no sense.

My German Embassy has been blocked so I translated it. Sorry the only translator Google

There could be a simple answer to this problem:
There are two standards different MBR and GPT partitions.

MBR works with drives up to 2 TB in size, but it can record handle t with more than 2 TB of space. MBR also only supports up to four primary partitions if you want more, you have to do one of your primary partitions an extended partition and create logical partitions inside.

GPT (GUID Partition Table) is a new standard which replaced the MBR. The TPG requires UEFI. This standard isn't limited like MBR and readers can be much larger and size limits depends on the system and its file systems. It allows an almost unlimited amount of partitions.

I guess that the system cannot recognize the partitions (from additional external HDD) due to the limitation of the MBR.

  • Toshiba Stor.e ALU 2 s 3.5 "does not work with my XBOX

    Hi all, first timer here

Just got a Toshiba external hard drive as a gift. Wanted one for a while, mainly to use with my XBOX 360 to watch movies and listen to music on. However the xbox does not pick up the hardrive (connected via USB), but he'll be looking for my friends generic hardrives. Anyone has any idea why?

It looks like a fairly recent model, here are the specs in the (very rare) manual that came with the hard drive:

    Toshiba stor.e 2 s 3.5 ALU "
    1 TB
    USB 3.0
Backward compatible with USB 2.0 (I don't know what that means "backward" here)

I'm not a computer person. I use the laptop to surf the web, media, applications etc, basic College work. Few of my friends have external hard drives, mainly cheap generic brands of the average and all work fine on my XBOX, just plug-and-play.

If anyone has any advice on how to do it, or even where to go woth my question I would really appreciate it.

    TIA
    Creamy

    Hello

In my view Backward compatible means that you can use this HARD drive with USB 2.0 ports. But the fact is that USB 3.0 port provide 900mA and USB 2.0 only 500mA.
I guess that's your HARD drive
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/en/store-externe-Festplatten/ALU2-s-35/
According to specifications, you can find info that this HARD drive should 900mA

Therefore connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using a USB Y cable.
I think this will help you.

  • Qosmio X 500 and Win8 - Mat * one BD-UJ240ES is not recognized correctly

    Hi all

Although the Qosmio X 500 is not on Toshiba products compatible with Windows 8 I did the upgrade anyway. Now I have the code 19 on BD - DVD drive controller, the system recognizes the unit but is listed in the error.

I tried to uninstall and update the controller but has not solved.
Code 19 is problems in the registry but I m not comfortable editing the registry.

    Any help?

    Hello

A user to solve this problem.

Once arrived at Services, and search for the Windows Service 'Toshiba Optical Disc Drive Service' (TODDSrv.exe 1.0.0.8).
Stop this service, then uninstall DVD driver in the Device Manager and scan for new hardware, then the DVD begins to work.

  • New 500 GB HARD drive is not recognized correctly

What is happening, I replaced the drive HARD than Go 150 original after about 18 months, again, now a year later, that the drive seems to have died too, so I bought a new seagate 500 GB drive HARD for it, the BIOS said it s it, but vista CD dies just when it is trying to install, CD WXP can t see the drive at all, but I expected that when WXP is older , but Vista I expected to work.

So here's the thing, I put the new HARD drive in my desktop PC and he found in the BIOS no worries, then I started the Vista CD and again no probs, Vista installed without worries, then I put the HARD drive in the lappy and once again he can t read it, so it s not a Vista thing , it seems that it s the lappy itself

Is this a problem with the Toshiba BIOS, or is it a physical problem where the Toshiba is struggling in reading ANY player?

    It s driving me crazy.

And what model of laptop do you have?

Generally upgrade HARD drive should not be a problem. I assume that your laptop's HARD drive with SATA interface and I sure you bought the right of Mr. I've upgraded or because of the experiences on several laptops equipped new hard disks and all of them were still properly recognized and I was able to install original Toshiba Recovery (recovery DVD) on this subject image.

Maybe you have an older model A200 and perhaps he has some compatibility issues with new hard disks. I will be 100% sure works perfectly with HARD drive up to 300 or 400 GB maybe.

Do you use Toshiba Recovery for the Vista installation disc or original disc of Microsoft?

BTW: WXP is unclear due to lack of driver SATA HARD drive.

  • Could not find Stor.e ALU 2 s 2.5 "(500 GB)

    Hello!
    I took yesterday a 2 s Stor.e Aluminum 2.5 "(500 GB) and put a lot of data on it."
Today, that my computer does not seem to find the trendy and more HD. Not even in the Device Manager.
If any suggestions ill take em.

I have an another question though. I made a backup of a small company that I work for on that HD and they said that they have rather HD destroyed back to the warranty. It is without doubt a lot of sensitive data to this topic. So, this brings me to the question (that I could not answer myself).
If I bring you in HD for the warranty - how much data will be reviewed by Toshiba or whoever made the repair. There are probably a few final tests.

    Thanks in advance
    Peter

  • Do not have access to Stor.E Alu 2 HDD

    Hi all

I bought the stor.e alu 1 tb 2.5 "drive external hard on the advice of a local store Paolo I had problems with the hard disk in this laptop.

Has been informed by the shop to make a clone of my hard drive then trade out for a new well just to say I have fooked the process as the internal drive failed during the filming of the clone drive.

Well the laptop is now fixed, but I can't get the stor.e to open or the drive is displayed in the tab of the computer.

It appears in the device manage tab and if clicked tab in volumes shows like (partition style: master boot record) and shows the drive as empty.

But I can't open the drive nor does it plug and play, so I would be grateful if someone could find out a way to restore the drive to factory settings and provide a link to the drivers so I can use the drive as a storage device.

    Hello

    > But I can't open the reader, nor does it plug and play, so I would be grateful if someone could find out a way to restore the drive to factory settings and provide a link to the drivers so I can use the drive as a storage device.
Have you tested this HARD drive as part of a different computers/laptops?

Stor.E Alu 2 HARD drive must be connected to two USB ports using the USB of Y cable.
You you connected the HARD drive two USB ports on your laptop?

Please try if you not connected the HARD drive to two USB ports
In addition, you can set the HARD drive to factory settings. It s a simple HARD disk that can be formatted only.

  • Stor.e Alu 2 3.5 "-file transfer problem

    Hello

I recently bought a Stor.e Alu 2 3.5 "external HARD drive and I have a serious problem. When I'm trying to copy a number of video files on it, the transfer never managed. It begins at a speed of about 20 + MB/sec, but after some time (a minute or two), nothing else is transferred and the progress bar remains.

LED light appears flashing well and no error message comes from Windows Vista or Ubuntu that I use. The few videos I managed to copy to it successfully (by chance, I guess!) work correctly and the player does not seem to have any other question, except that it is impossible to perform a defragmentation.

I already formatted this disc, but the problem remains and no transfer is possible unless the files are small. I also checked the disk for errors and their fixed with MS-DOS command prompt several times. Please help if you think that the problem is fixable or otherwise I deffo the drive as long as it's still under warranty.

    Thanks in advance!

    George.

  • Toshiba Store E TV 3.5 "500 GB PA4208E-1HE0 - no visible files

I have an external USB HARD drive MODEL: PA4208E-1HE0 Toshiba Store E TV 3.5 "500 GB Multi Media Player and I can not see my files to.
Is it possible that I can use to get back them?

When I view the drive in 'my computer' it shows that there is data, but when I open it, there is nothing

    Hello moeketsisehloho,

It is not possible to record with the TV store.
There are 4 files (music, Photos, videos, Toshiba) default settings.
If you plug the TV StorE on your computer and you can´t see these files, I think you have removed the.
That you have set the TV to the default store or create this 4 files manually.
I suggest to format the TV store front. The way to do it, you can find in the manual on page 18.
Then you should be able to copy the files to the TV store.
If you can´t see the menu, if the TV store is connected by HDMI to the TV, I think you need to bring the TV StorE to a partner of Service allowed next to you.

    Best regards

  • Stor.E ALU 2s no time-out

    Hello
I have several Toshiba USB hard drives, that I use as storage media with a cable TV box.
Type DTP110 turns off after a few minutes if you do not use.
Type Stor.E ALU 2s continues to operate. There is no point when not in use.
Desturbing more however is the squeaking noise when the box is turned off, which cuts the power of the forced HD.
I sent a request for Toshiba if there is a tool to set the time-out, no response.
    Anyone know a solution?

    See you soon,.
    kyriako.

    Hello

I don't have a solution for you, but I may be able to enlighten us.
It is likely that the hard drive does not meet the host power management controls.
I don't think it's possible to solve by any other piece of software, unless it's an update of the firmware.
If you want you can chech in running a modern Linux host and attaching this player.
Run the drives under Gnome application and try to read the SMART attributes and / or request a counters.

The results it will show the way.
Success at the point of Linux to a kind of incompatibility between the HARD drive and your device.
Same result in Linux shows that the HARD drive does not respond to these common commands and there is not much to do about it.

  • Stor.E Alu 2 guard spinning

I just bought a Stor.E Alu 2 2.5 "external hard drive. It works fine but when connected to a pc, you can feel and if you listen carefully, hear that he maintains is always running. In itself, this isn't a problem for me, but I was wondering if this is normal behavior and this affects the service life of the device. Since most of the time the player will be connected to a pc that is powered on 24/7, the player will also turn 24/7, where my concern.

And what is with diode? It must be turned on, but should not blink all the time.
It only flashes all the time or not?

I have three external hard drives and when I put my hand on it, I can feel some sort of vibration, although there is no read/write activity. The HARD drive is also hot all the time.
I think that you should not be worried about it. This HARD drive is like the others and there is no big difference between your Toshiba and my Hitachi HARD drive.
