  • Toshiba Stor.e ALU 2 s 3.5 "does not work with my XBOX

    Hi all, first timer here

Just got a Toshiba external hard drive as a gift. Wanted one for a while, mainly to use with my XBOX 360 to watch movies and listen to music on. However the xbox does not pick up the hardrive (connected via USB), but he'll be looking for my friends generic hardrives. Anyone has any idea why?

It looks like a fairly recent model, here are the specs in the (very rare) manual that came with the hard drive:

    Toshiba stor.e 2 s 3.5 ALU "
    1 TB
    USB 3.0
Backward compatible with USB 2.0 (I don't know what that means "backward" here)

I'm not a computer person. I use the laptop to surf the web, media, applications etc, basic College work. Few of my friends have external hard drives, mainly cheap generic brands of the average and all work fine on my XBOX, just plug-and-play.

If anyone has any advice on how to do it, or even where to go woth my question I would really appreciate it.

    TIA
    Creamy

    Hello

In my view Backward compatible means that you can use this HARD drive with USB 2.0 ports. But the fact is that USB 3.0 port provide 900mA and USB 2.0 only 500mA.
I guess that's your HARD drive
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/en/store-externe-Festplatten/ALU2-s-35/
According to specifications, you can find info that this HARD drive should 900mA

Therefore connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using a USB Y cable.
I think this will help you.

  • Stor E Alu 2.5 500 GB is not recognized correctly

I had it for 16 months and had no problems. I updated some files no problem of backup as usual Wednesday night.

When I plugged it again Thursday my computer laptop would not recognize him as he usually does, IE Toshiba USB 2.5 "-HARD drive with a logo of Toshiba."

Instead he just showed as a drive Local (F) and would not allow me to browse the files, saying it must be formatted before use.

Interestingly, when I go to "Remove hardware" it then shows that Toshiba USB 2.5 "-HARD drive and also shows that this in Device Manager."

I have a lot of information out there and then most are elsewhere and I don't lose a lot I want to get it back. Can anyone help with advice to get the job of training and to recover my files?

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like you lost your partition information...
If another PC displays the same behavior... you need a software partition recovery good for get you data back like (Smart Partition Recovery).
Do not create a new partition because that's the way of lost with windows your data forever.

  • CD device virtual disk external DRIVE on a Toshiba Stor.e Alu 2s (USB3.0)?

Every time when I connect my new external 1 to (2.5 ') USB3.0 HDD of my PC, there is automatically a virtual cd drive.

It only contains the manual and a link to the 'revolutionary' Toshiba market and there is no way to remove it permanently.
The whole score is 6 MB in size, and in my opinion totally useless (there is no available encryption).

Toshiba is not able to update their software "Toshiba drive Converter" when they release new material to give to users who want a simple portable drive without any publicity, a chance to get what they paid for?

    > The whole score is 6 MB in size and in my opinion totally useless (there is no available encryption).
The partition any HARD drive could be easily deleted.

-You must right click on the desktop icon and select Manage
-Now in the management of the computer window click to enlarge: the computer management (Local) \Storage\Disk management that you can find in the left pane
-Now right click on the partition or volume you want to delete and select "Remove the Volume" in the center pane. Note! You must choose the partition of 6 MB on the external HARD drive that you connected to the laptop!
    -The partition will be deleted.

  • Toshiba Stor.e Alu 2 1, 5 TB not rocognized Time Capsule

Please tell me how to solve this problem:
Apple Time Capsule don't see HARD drive while the computer MacBook Pro itself defines.
I tried to format the drive in various formats, but the result is the same - drive is not visible!

    Hey,.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the disc external HARD itself if the laptop recognizes it but not the time Capsule

Is that the HARD drive works correctly because if you connect directly to the computer, it works. So the problem must be the time Capsule. You should contact Apple for assistance because it s not Toshiba related issue. There may be an update to the device or other thing that will improve the USB connection.

    Good luck! :)

  • Stor.E Alu 2 guard spinning

I just bought a Stor.E Alu 2 2.5 "external hard drive. It works fine but when connected to a pc, you can feel and if you listen carefully, hear that he maintains is always running. In itself, this isn't a problem for me, but I was wondering if this is normal behavior and this affects the service life of the device. Since most of the time the player will be connected to a pc that is powered on 24/7, the player will also turn 24/7, where my concern.

And what is with diode? It must be turned on, but should not blink all the time.
It only flashes all the time or not?

I have three external hard drives and when I put my hand on it, I can feel some sort of vibration, although there is no read/write activity. The HARD drive is also hot all the time.
I think that you should not be worried about it. This HARD drive is like the others and there is no big difference between your Toshiba and my Hitachi HARD drive.

  • Stor.e Alu 2 3.5 "-file transfer problem

    Hello

I recently bought a Stor.e Alu 2 3.5 "external HARD drive and I have a serious problem. When I'm trying to copy a number of video files on it, the transfer never managed. It begins at a speed of about 20 + MB/sec, but after some time (a minute or two), nothing else is transferred and the progress bar remains.

LED light appears flashing well and no error message comes from Windows Vista or Ubuntu that I use. The few videos I managed to copy to it successfully (by chance, I guess!) work correctly and the player does not seem to have any other question, except that it is impossible to perform a defragmentation.

I already formatted this disc, but the problem remains and no transfer is possible unless the files are small. I also checked the disk for errors and their fixed with MS-DOS command prompt several times. Please help if you think that the problem is fixable or otherwise I deffo the drive as long as it's still under warranty.

    Thanks in advance!

    George.

  • Stor.E ALU 2s no time-out

    Hello
I have several Toshiba USB hard drives, that I use as storage media with a cable TV box.
Type DTP110 turns off after a few minutes if you do not use.
Type Stor.E ALU 2s continues to operate. There is no point when not in use.
Desturbing more however is the squeaking noise when the box is turned off, which cuts the power of the forced HD.
I sent a request for Toshiba if there is a tool to set the time-out, no response.
    Anyone know a solution?

    See you soon,.
    kyriako.

    Hello

I don't have a solution for you, but I may be able to enlighten us.
It is likely that the hard drive does not meet the host power management controls.
I don't think it's possible to solve by any other piece of software, unless it's an update of the firmware.
If you want you can chech in running a modern Linux host and attaching this player.
Run the drives under Gnome application and try to read the SMART attributes and / or request a counters.

The results it will show the way.
Success at the point of Linux to a kind of incompatibility between the HARD drive and your device.
Same result in Linux shows that the HARD drive does not respond to these common commands and there is not much to do about it.

  • 10 Windows does not even recognize Stor.e Alu 2...

    Hi Pokecelebi,

You can try to connect to another system, or change your USB cable and try to connect to different ports. I have a few questions for you. Kindly answer as much as I'll help you also.

What exactly happens before you had connected your external drive to your system?

How old is your HARD drive?

  • Toshiba Store Tv 1.5 - subtitles

    Hello everyone.
I m new in this forum that I recently had a Toshiba Store Tv 1.5.
First excuse my ignorance as Im not very in all technologies of this and everything, and my query may seem silly...

I wonder how can I put subtitles for movies Im store in the material.

I Don t really know how to do and I like to watch movies in their original language. I would appreciate if you could please let me know how to do it.

    Thank you much in advance.

    Hello

    I think that's not possible.

  • Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive no longer works

    Hi all

I have a new Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive and was transfer photos and music to it and all was fine, I ejected it but when I plugged it back I get the message:

    F: is not accessible
    Data error (cyclic recovery control)

A quick search and it says that run cmd and chkdsk but that simply says:

The type of the file system is RAW
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives

    Please can someone help?

    Thank you

According to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base, the data error (cyclic redundancy check) - indicates that the operating system has found a car with bad sectors or some other intermittent problem.

In my opinion, you should go to disk management and check if the external HARD disk is listed:

    -> Panel-> administration-> computer management tools--> disk management

If his list, you can change the file RAW to NTFS format
Then you can perform a chkdsk command.

But you lose the data, change the file format.

As far as I know, using the command: + convert DriveLetter: /fs:ntfs + (drive letter + should be replaced with the drive letter of the USB HDD) should not lead to data loss
