The drive stops at 1% with the platform-specific error 2338

Hello

I'm P2V a Windows 2003 server in my vCenter environment 5.1.

Using Converter Standalone version 5.1.0

All ports is open I firewalls, but still I get this error:

FAILED: An error occurred during conversion:

'Platform-specific error 2338'

I am attaching a logfile here, so if anyone can help to understand what causes the error, I understand that :)

When you select a host in a DRS cluster automated, it's the vCenter server who makes the decision what ESX host in the cluster to use. If it's a manual DRS or non - DRS cluster, you can select the specific host. The obvious difference of the user, is that in the latter case there is an extra drop-down box for the selection of the host.

In fact, it's some sort of bug in user experience, because this difference in behavior is not clear. The guide mentions on 49, but we know not to be cut.

Kind regards

Plamen

Got this message when trying to P2v of Windows 2003 SP2 server on workgroup.   Using the IP address and a local administrator account to connect to the server and the connection to vCenter to add the VM on the host.  The source server is in a workgroup and vCenter server reside in the field, but I can't do a ping from source to vCenter and source of vConverter server and vice versa.   So, doesn't seem to be a firewall issue or the port number.   My account exist on vCenter data center as an administrator, so I should have no problem with permission.

A note more: host of the ESXi 5.0 that I'm trying to place the virtual machine on a double 10G uplinks defined in Full, while the physical server has a 1 G network card.   It is still duplexing of lag, but do not know if it would be a problem here.  Also, am using vCenter Converter standalone ver5.1 to vCenter on ESXi 5.0 5.0 build 1117897.  Configuration standard vSwitch.

Have tried to locate what means this error and previously paint white.   Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you very much

I don't know, ports and/or connection settigs could be changed after P2V previsous... check the connection settings, consult the manual.

I'm trying to convert a physical Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 with converter (v 5.1) and each time it fails with the error "FAILED: an error occurred during conversion:"2338 ' platform-specific error.

Some errors in the paper seem to point to a hard disk problem but I defragment the disk and then ran a chkdsk and the disk seems good.

    I appreciate all help.

  • A system 38 platform-specific error general

Note: I removed the names of specific server on the balls.

I worked on a P2V a few days with zero success.  The error I get is: a system general 38 platform-specific error.  If I look in vCenter virtual machine will be created and then deleted in about 20 seconds and failed front of 1%.

The details of the specific server are:

    Windows Server 2008 x 64.

VMware Converter Standalone 6.0 (I tried version 5.5.3 and 4.1 and exactly the thing happens)

The first time that I tried this server to P2V does 80ish % and then rebooted.  Since then I get this failure.  I noticed there are a few old files in the data store vSAN referencing this server so I removed this file that has not solved the problem.

This area of the paper seems to be the part where it fails:

  • Could not import the platform of error

    Hello

I started the 3.1.0 agent HQ (the version with the included JRE) on a RedHat Linux 9 server and runs the automatic detection of the console of the server process. He discovered the new server as it should, but when I clicked on the button "Add to inventory", I got an error (see below).

Impossible to import the platform: RuntimeException. nested exception is: org.hyperic.hq.common.SystemException: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: error creating data IA platform: servers of type "FileServer" could not be created on the "Home network" type platforms CausedByException is: creation of data IA platform error: type servers 'FileServer' cannot be created on platforms of type "home network".

    Why is this happening?

    Thank you
    Brian

I think there may be a misunderstanding here.  When you say that you "ran the autodiscovery process", which means exactly?  You shouldn't have to do anything else that start the agent on the platform, and then set up your dashboard HQ.  The platform will appear in the queue of the self-inventory and you can then import the platform and all discovered resources.  This type platform sounds like it should be "Solaris" and not "network host.  HQ thinks that it is a network host, leads me to believe that you tried to create a platform manually instead of using the discovery platform created to start the agent.

    Try the following steps:
1 stop the agent on the affected platform.
    2. remove any resource platform linked to this inventory of HQ
    3. delete the "data" of the installation of the Agent HQ directory
    4. start the Agent from HQ (you will need to provide the login information from server again)
    5. connect to Headquarters as the superuser and look in the auto - inventory of your dashboard portlet.  The platform should appear there.
    6. Select the platform and click on the button to import it into your inventory HQ

It should work, if not answered and I will work with you to get your server.log and agent.log and troubleshoot more.

Firmware isn't exactly the same thing on the material but is VERY close.  I have one of each generation updated with the same Xpresspacks of IBM, and so except for the image diagnosis of pre-start, I think that they are the same.  I'll check this again once then.

VMware drivers are the same.  They were not.  They are now.  I got 5.5 latest drivers for everything that I can find a driver for (including cards CF - using the driver Qlogic native VMware NICS (igb); approx 10 GB (not being use IGB but fact still); the provider CIM, MegaRAID controller.  I used VUM update their last 5.5 (standard license) with all the patches.  vCenter is a 5.5 vCSA was last updated.  I went into the BIOS settings side-by-side and ensured that everything is the same.  I did the same thing with everything I could think of in vSphere (found about 5 differences, but nothing fixed).

Management is the network of vMotion.  It's on the same VLAN as one of those guests are on (the clients are spread over 5 different VLAN).  VMware support put in place a different vSwitch for vMotion with no luck.

The symptoms are the same regardless of their orientation (old to the new, new to the former) and don't care about the type of virtual machine (Windows 2008R2, CentOS 5.5, RHEL 6.7) or at the level of the material (VM 10 or 7 VM).  It also fails if it is standard or high priority or if it is with the web client or the Windows client.

The place with the most characteristic symptom that doesn't show anywhere in googleland except to the pastebin is in the file /scratch/log/hostd.log of the host.  The host that sends the guest throws a vmsvc.vm error VMotionCmdCb [1461010590046389] 'a': error - 6: invalid argument.

If anyone else has seen this (obviously someone because it is on pastebin) and understood, please enlighten me.

    Thank you!

    Jeff

  • The blackBerry Smartphones connector specific error

I'm having a problem to sync my address book phone with my outlook address book.  Get the connector specific error need help

    Hello

    We have problems of link:

  • Driver is not intended for this platform (install the latest driver for Verizon Wireless WAN (UNDP))

    Hello

My Verizon Wireless WAN has worked on my T500 (2081CT 0, 4 GB of RAM, Windows Vista Business 64) since I received it last September. This morning it stopped working. Said that the card has not been activated. Ask Verizon and Lenovo have been pretty useless - each blamed the other, I so put on my own.

-I uninstalled the driver for the Qualcomm HS USB card integrated, downloaded the latest version of the driver (transferred via CDROM since I can't connect to this laptop to the network where I work) and tried to install it. The HS-USB card is now displayed in the devices as "Unknown device" Manager (under 'other devices'), and his device status is:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

Driver is not intended for this platform.

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

    Huh?

Of course, reinstall driver does not work, the first problem is that he can't find online because I don't have internet connection without the card.  This driver has been installed from the following link:

    http://www-307.IBM.com/PC/support/site.WSS/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69999

Seems to me that it should work on this machine. What I am doing wrong?

-Some additional background: I've had several accidents recently, including at least two yesterday with blue screens. Easy to believe something has become corrupted, that's why I tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

    Help!

    Thank you very much.

Solution was to uninstall the 'unknown device', search for new hardware and follow the promts by selecting all default values.

  • Pavilion dv7-6135dx screens on the video driver blue igdpmd64.sys after the platform update KB2670838

Windows Update has delivered platform update KB2670838 Feb. 27.

After that, any time I open Internet Explorer, I get a blue screen of death which calls igdpmd64.sys, which is part of the video driver.

I tried to install the latest video driver HP site was for this machine, even though it is dated as a couple of years.  But he says that I don't have the minimum requirements.   !!??

I tried a restore point before and everything was fine.

I let go of the front through the platform Windows Update again and the same problem.

Now today I have no restore point so I can't go back.

Because now I am simply not using IE, everything else works fine so far.

    Here are my questions...

    1. is this a known problem of someone else?  Is there an article on the best solution anywhere yet?

    2. suggested approaches to solve this?

    3. How can I get the alternative video drivers to try?

3A. HP Site latest since this laptop says that it does not meet the min requirements!

3B. should I even try the following more old?

3 c. pros and cons of try the drivers of Intel or ATI sites instead of on HP site

    4. If after testing things, if I wanted to reinstall my current driver, how 'save', or protect some how now?  (I think THAT it is the original of the 2011 original installation schedule)

    5. How can I do to reinstall the video driver as 'supplied with the machine', for example since the recovery D: partition?

    6. If I end up having to reinstall Windows, how to do that since the recovery partition?

    Hey cfravel,

All major issues! Sorry to hear that you use in the blue screens, but you did a good job of troubleshooting. I'll answer the questions in the order that you asked them.

1 and 2.  Here is a link to the Microsoft Forumwhere there was a similar question. It looks like uninstalling and hiding the implementation update will correct the problem. To uninstall an update,

    • Click Start
    • Program 'type '.
    • Click on programs and features
    • Click View Installed Updates (left)
    • Search for KB2670838.
    • Select this option and click on uninstall.

    To hide the update,

    • Click Start
    • Type "update".
    • Click on Windows Update
    • Click Find updates
    • Click "# important updates available"
    • Search for KB2670838
    • Right-click on it and click on hide (you can always restore hidden updates in the future if you want by clicking on "restore hidden updates" from the main screen of Windows Update.

    3. here is the correct driver for your laptop HP Special Page. I think you're probably already doing it correctly, but just in case. How many times have you tried this driver? Try a couple of times.

3B. Yes you could certainly try the next previous driver.

3 c. the drivers coming from Intel or ATI are almost the same driver in most cases. We invite you to try them because they can always be uninstalled. Just, they are not guaranteed to work properly for your specific model.

    4. There are two versions of the driver for your ATI video chip. These and all future versions will still be available on your driver page. Click on the link under the latest driver that says "available versions" for a complete list of all the versions that are never released.

    5. to reinstall the driver of origin or any other original software that is preinstalled on your laptop, you can use HP Recovery Manager.

    • Click Start
    • Type "HP recovery".
    • Click HP Recovery Manager
    • Click re - install the drivers and software.
    • Scroll through the list and select drivers or software to install. These drivers will still be available on your page of driver as well.

6 here is a link on how to reinstall Windows from the recovery partition. In the links in blue at the top, click on "Recovering from the start (in the system startup) screen". This is a very simple process.

Please let me know if you have any questions or if these suggestions helped (it could help others with similar issues). I'll keep an eye out for your answer!

  • Please help to choose the order of drivers when I get the "Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered" message

    Running: Win7 - XPS 8100 8 GB - 64 bit OS

Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450

Serial number ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

    Hello

Recently I get this message as the computer freezes momentarily and then recovers.

"Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

I checked the support for Dell drivers and received conflicting results.

When I checked with the help of system analysis, it gave me a list of the 54 system-wide updates. How could it be possible?

When you use the label of my service, I got the following result:

ADMIN NOTE: maintain the label removed by privacy policy >

Don't you think that's what I use, and if yes, can you tell me who I should first put to date? Finally, what I have to uninstall the old drivers and update via the Device Manager?

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Jane

54 updates is not necessary. You should only update a driver to correct a specific problem. You don't need to remove the video card driver before installing a newer version.

    * Go here
    * Click on download
    * The file should save on your windows desktop
    * Double-click the file
    Follow the instructions
