The mouse settings not saved after reboot/restart

I'm changing the speed at which my mouse pointer moves on the screen.  I'm doing a 'demand' the change, and then click on 'ok '.   The point of the mouse moves faster in the game.  Then after reboot/restart the computer, the mouse setting is default slower movement speed.   The changes are not saved after reboot.   What keeps the change of speed of movement of the mouse to be saved?

Mr. Brian,

Please, try the following steps.  This should allow you to keep all the settings in the SetPoint software at the same time to solve your problem.

1. click on the Start ORB, type msconfig in the Search box and hit Enter
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue

2. in the System Configuration dialog box, click the Startup tab
3. Locate the entries called KHALMNPR or similar and uncheck the box next to them (there may only be a)
4. click OK and restart your computer
5. after reboot, change the speed of your mouse pointer and restart

This should solve your problem.  Please let us know.  Thank you.

  • Setting advanced system not saved after reboot/restart

I changed my settings of performance... then when I restart my computer... the computer is always the same as the front... I use a standard account... when I went to the administrator, it works... I want to change my standard user performance parameters. :'(

    Hi Erik,

Using the standard user account to change settings?

If you are connecting with a standard user account and then try to change the system of advance parameters he will automatically restore to the default settings after reboot, due to the user account permission.

Note: If you want to change the advance system settings you must change the settings using the account administrator only.

  • Windows 7 - default gateway not saved after reboot

I've seen this problem on different OS MS but you have not yet found my solution. After I reboot, I have to go to 'Advanced TCP/IP settings' and add the default gateway. It works until I have restart and disappears. Why isn't the bridge kept default resets, why it persists if long, what should I do to solve this problem, if anyone has any ideas?

It just happened for me to add that I'm jusing static IP, no DHCP, that is not an option. Once I put the default gateway, I have no problem for the days/weeks until what I restart, then I have to dig down to set again.

Divya, I fixed it. There is a blank line in the registry after the recent system update, which apparently happened before. Here's how:

Solution for the bug of Vista SP2 gateway:
    1. open the registry, regedit.exe
    2. go into the path: HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Tcpip/parameters/Interfaces.
    3. here you must select the CLSID of your network card when you change the settings. You'll probably recognize it watching the IPAddress value which will have IP address for this adapter.
    4. open the value 'Passerelle_par_defaut' of doubleclicking it. You will see a list of all the bridges that disappeared! (maybe in your case it will be single, in my case it was because of the many test multiple addresses) Most likely, the first line will be empty. I don't know how this little flaw can be a big problem. However, if you manually delete the first empty line, click OK and restart your system, everything should be working again fine.

Things has worked well up until the last system update that adds this old problem this old problem in the system.

  • the mouse does not work after a beep

I currently have Windows 7 installed on my desktop at home.
Lately I had problems with the mouse. When I start windows, it seems to work very well. After a few minutes, I hear a strange beep & the mouse no longer works in total. I tried to disconnect & reconnected again to see if there is no dust collected but that doesn't seem to work. I checked if the drivers are updated, I saw that the latest version of the driver has been installed. I checked if there is a problem with the ports. I started in safe mode. Uninstalled ports & restarted my computer. For worms, it seems to work fine, but now it seems I have the same problem again. For this reason, it is necessary to reboot the machine again & again once because the mouse freezes & I'm stuck here.

    Help, please

The problems begin after that I installed these updates. After restarting the computer, I can no longer use my (HP SK - 2506 U) keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical). I have looked around through the forums and tried several suggestions; However, none have them worked, that's why I post here.

For example, here are the methods that I've tried so far, while using a PS/2 keyboard connected:

    (1) to start the computer in safe mode only to find out that they keyboard and mouse don't always work.

    (2) went in mode Bios and the keyboard works until I leave.

    (3) Microsoft Fix It tool I tried for USB devices and he said that "the changes have been made", but it does not solve the problem.

    (4) I went to the Control Panel, type "Troubleshoot" > find and fix problems > material and audio > configuration of a device, and he says: "material changes may not have been detected."

    (5) download the drivers on their site, but they will not be installed because 'the latest version is already installed. "

    6) going to remove each USB root hub in Device Manager, and then restart the computer to reinstall the drivers. The computer recognizes the 'new' devices,
but then fails to install. Also, when I check their error on each of the USB status then in Device Manager, I get an error (code 52).

    (7) I also tried to install an update, restart the computer and then install the update next to try to reduce down which one is causing the problem. However, this method does no more work. For example, I installed an update, then restarted the computer, and it would be nice. Then install the next update, and the problem would come back. I would therefore restore to a point earlier, thinking that the second update has been the cause of the problem only discover that the problem came back after first re-installation...

I also tried to run a backup of my external hard drive, but it does not work. I also tried to create a system repair disc, and it fails too.

So far, the only way I can "fix" this problem is if I restore my computer to an earlier point in the day and then hide all updates to install automatically.

Now I'm wondering if anyone knows why these problems are happening or fix them for good?

    Hi Floyd,

I appreciate the efforts that you have taken to solve the problem in a few important steps. Since it is a problem that occurs when you try to install updates for Windows, the driver may be signed or corrupted.

Just a few questions in order to get a clear picture of the issue.

    1. make all the windows updates installed successfully?

    2. What is the full error message you see in Device Manager?

Follow the thread and check them off below if it helps.

    spike88,
If it's a brand mouse, you may need to consult the manufacturer for all drivers that may be required.  If it's a USB mouse then try another port.  You can also update Windows, and then test the mouse.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
