To halfway through registry corrupted difficulty, now what?

I'm trying to recover from a corrupted registry. I got to the point where I need to copy in a folder named C:\WINDOWS\bak, I can not find this folder. It is somewhere I want or make a new folder somewhere?

You would be much better served by starting from one of the Rescue CD free (I recommend Hirens but if you are using a Linux Livecd, you are guaranteed not to have permissions issues).  If you remove KB307545, you'll see that you're basically copy five registry files from a backup in the 'C:\System Volume Information' folder and replace the files in the C:\Windows\System32\Config directory.  KB307545 is rather risky (especially part 1).  A bootable CD you will get around that.

Here is a link to another post I previously answered (another problem, same solution) that describes what you need to do:

    1. click the Start button, select Control Panel, click programs, and then Windows turn features on or off.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. to disable the games feature, clear the games check box.

    3. click on OK.

    4 restart the computer

    5 repeat step 1

    6. to turn on the games feature, check the box games .

    7 restart once again

Method 3: Follow the steps and the link below and perform a clean boot and see if any third party on the computer software is in conflict with the normal performance of the game

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

    4. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

    5. click on OK.

    6. When you are prompted, click on restart.

  • Firefox.exe is suddenly gone, so ie11 tried to access the internet to reinstall, but it will not download - now what?

Hello everyone, newbie here with a weird problem. Looooong time FF user and could care less about IE or Chrome. I recently did a backup of my Acer Aspire One with Win7 Starter user, as I have before, to an external and everything seemed fine except when I tried to launch FF, I received a message that the shortcut can not locate "firefox.exe", I want to remove the shortcut? WTH? So I try the search of the entire computer for him and of course he went. So I try to reinstall FF with an .exe from a previous installation of upgrade and even though she acted as if it might work, but then I got the message "interrupted installation". Bleerg.

OK, so I opened IE11 here to download a new copy from scratch. IE seems to find the download page of Mozilla very well, but it displays a blank window. I see some elements of the download page, but not the necessary parts, which are visible on IE on my Toshiba (which I did to see what missed me). I tried the same thing with Chrome, just in case IE has, um, ignorant of Mozilla. No, same issue with her.

So now I run CCleaner Registry Cleaner to see what might appear and this is there are a handful of questions firefox.exe. As I am on my Toshiba to ask for help, I have to manually type in what I show on my Acer:

My 11 year old niece used the pc last (play online games) and I was informed that it was a download/installation, but do not now what it was. Hello

If your niece has changed the password, or you have a corrupted system, this Information Microsoft will help you.

Here are the different circumstances where it can help you.

You will need to borrow a Microsoft DVD from a friend, Recovery DVD a manufacturer without these special work options available.

If you are unable to connect to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 system restore feature.

You may be unable to connect to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you don't remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is damaged.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change an administrator account protected with a standard user account. Now, you cannot connect to another administrator account.

And as you say that your niece may have downloaded something, that something could have been malicious, that can cause problems with password.

    Sheila,

This can happen if your virus scanner (or another application of heavy disk activity) access to training. You can try running chkdsk in safe mode:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you run chkdsk in safe mode and you still have problems of backup, try to perform a clean boot to disable all third-party applications and test support upward:
