  • System recovery media is not delivered with my new Satellite P100

    Hello world.

Two weeks ago, I bought my first laptop of Toshiba (P100-324). Before, I had many doubts about the facilities of Toshiba. Now I have to say that I am really very pleased with the quality of your product. The laptop itself is great and everything works fine.

Except a problem: in the box, it there was only one disc: the CD entitled "Express Media Player Recovery CD. When I checked the database online of the Toshiba with my s/n, she showed a Windows recovery DVD in the package list. So I did what you guys recommend to: contacted * all * the FSA in Poland. Surprisingly, the quality of the customer service was not so good. Each of them told me as if there were no real DVD in the box, it MUST be a hidden partition on my HARD drive, and if I want to buy the CD/DVD with the operating system (I have a license/sticker OEM to use: XP MCE) I pay about 20 EUR

Wow. A price of 20 EUROS for a single value of CD... 5 cents? (the media itself, not the software) In fact, when I was paying a lot of money for my laptop I expect something more in terms of customer service. But anyway, I'm just one customer, probably worth less than nothing to the FSA. So, after this long and boring, prologue here are my questions:

    (1) should there be another DVD in my Inbox that contains the Windows XP MCE OEM installation?

    (2) otherwise - y at - it technique uber-elite that Toshiba is using to hide the Windows recovery partition me? There are only 2 partitions on my HARD drive: one with 250 MB (which is IMHO far too small to contain all the windows + drivers) and one that fills the disk completely (~ 200 GB). Is there some magic bios that would display the partitions one another?

    (3) otherwise - is it possible to "produce" somehow a windows recovery DVD? I mean, on my c: drive is CMPNENTS, I386, directories VALUEADD I somehow recognizes Windows installation CD. However, when I try to use nLite on the root of c: (or the i386 directory), it indicates that not all the installation files are present.

    (4) and finally - how do I reinstall my Windows XP MCE?

I really, really need to have an option to reinstall my operating system. It would be a shame for Toshiba that I had to buy another copy of Windows XP Home edition oem (and scratch the key oem sticker).

    Hello Tomasz

First of all, I am very pleased to hear that you are satisfied with your new P100. Right now I use the older Satellite M70 with ATI graphics card, but I think buying Satellite P100. Satellite P100 has long been on the market and I hope that very soon, Toshiba P100 successor. Maybe something like P200 and I think I'll wait a few months see what happens in the future.

    Back to your question:
As far as I know recovery DVD should be bundled with the new and original packaged product. On your laptop, it is also preinstalled Express Media Player. It's a small application based on Linux that allows you to watch DVD movies or listen to audio CDs without booting the operating system. It is preinstalled on small partition unallocated. Express Media Player using supplied restore CD you can install it anywhere, anytime. As I said recovery DVD should be supplied with your laptop. But in this whole one thing confused me: autour Googling, I discovered that the Satellite P100-324 is available in Germany and Austria. Because of this I really don't know how you could buy this product in Poland? Have you branch new or perhaps as some showroom products.
Please give some info about it.

Maybe is my view too long but I wanted to just tell you one thing. May be pretty important thing: many users mix of Toshiba service and authorized partners. Each authorized service partner is not directly Toshiba. All these partners are independent companies that have contracts with Toshiba (and very often with other laptop manufacturers) and they repair laptops. Please note that they operate as independent businesses and create prices on its own (free market). If there is a communication problem you cannot say: bad or bad service from Toshiba. Yes, in a certain way, they represent Toshiba but if personal service is not qualified or hostile he really has nothing to do with Toshiba himself.

They are also right on self-created recovery DVD Toshiba a few notebook models are supplied without the recovery DVDs and the user must create one. But it is absolutely not the case with your P100. For most computers business notebooks have this option as Portege and Tecra.

Dear Tomasz at the end it is not easy to say what you need to do. If you have a portable German perhaps it is best to order the DVD of recovery on your tongue. He's still irritated when you have additional costs but 20 euros is not a lot of money. Fill in your new toy and enjoy your life.

    Bye and good luck!

  • HP recovery media does not, need to do the second set of recovery on USB media.

    Hello

I have a new HP Envy laptop that I have created a set of recovery on six DVD media.  These work very well, but are a pain in the end to keep pending next DVD to load.

So I tried to make another recovery media and place it on a USB key.  Discovered, that it will not allow a second value created.

So I then ordered and paid for a recovery of HP media.  A beautiful labeled Microsoft USB key came. Great, I thought.

My laptop because of my fault I failed and wouldn't boot.  So I decided to use my new HP USB stick and after that go into the BIOS and disable the boot from USB stick and start secure etc as he said to it returned with an error that "this computer can not be recovered from this media!"

I then pluged in my DVD - ROM external and used drive recovery media that I did and it worked perfectly!

I tried the live chat with a technical person of HP and they checked the serial number and said I got what should work.  They could do a repair ticket and send the laptop.

It makes no sense to me as I have the unit upwards and running, but I wanted to know how I could get a USB work recovery media.

I ended up saying goodbye as they were of no help.

    My questions are:

    (1) why this media does not work?

    (2) is it possible to make a second set of recovery media?

    (3) is there a way to transfer my recovery media DVD 6 on a USB?

OLD POST > I first noticed the order said it was a pn 735088-002 and a sticker outside the wand that has the same number, BUT when he looks at a name on the flash drive is 735088-DB2... >

    UPDATE:

The new USB recovery media came today from HP.   He had again the same top part number that the original order has been 735008-002, BUT this time the corresponding came USB drive name to the tile. 735008-002 , I inserted this new media and it is fully charged.

Thank you for all your help.

  • the system recovery media does not support this computer

I have a HP G7-1365DX and the hard drive (750 GB) is a failure.  I did a recovery file on a USB key from the recovery partition and then replaced the hard drive with a 120 GB SSD.  When I tried to reinstall the USB system, I get the message "the system recovery media does not support this computer."  Is it because the hard drive was replaced by a SSD?  How to restore the system if the recovery disk does not work?

    Hello

You are right about the source of this problem - HP recovery media often has problems of restoring the operating system on a smaller disk in quality than appeared on.

There are a few options available.

    1. if the 750 GB drive is still able to operate, use your recovery media to perform a factory reset and then use software (or Windows 7 own imaging utility) for this clone of your SSD.

2 create your own recovery media to use to run the installation - it would be my personal preference.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

    Kind regards

  • DV6-6c15nr, "the system recovery media does not support this computer."

Hi all. I'm trying to reformat my laptop (dv6-6c15nr), but when I try to reformat to f11the recovery manager f, all options are such that the system restore and restore to factory is grayed out. The next thing I tried was a set of recovery disks. When I used the recovery disks, it showed the message "this computer does not support the system recovery media. You are not able to restore the system with the media. 0110 A601UA #ABA - A1U60AV. Why can I not reformat my laptop... I remember that I was able to reformat until I sent offshore to get the hard drive and the radiator replaced by hp year last April. Now I can't get to... that this has to do with anything? someone please help...

I also tried without the bios downgrade F.19 REV: a. which do not help either.

    It seems that the motherboard may have been changed and the information system (tattoo) has not been updated to match that of your computer. While I can't fix this for you, I can suggest some possible solutions and I work to spare;

    (1) you can contact HP Customer Support and ask that they correct the problem.

    (2) attempt to control that recovery discs for the model of the motherboard is currently labeled as.

    (3) If you can still read the Windows product key of 25 characters on the Microsoft COA affixed on the computer, you can install Windows 7 using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7 SP1, create the installation media and install Windows 7 SP1 using the 25-digit key from the COA Microsoft on your computer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
