Try to make a fairly significant update for Vista - I think I had about 24 updates total.  For the last two hours, although it is stuck at 34%.  I'm not sure what to do, either wait it out or try to reboot/restore to an earlier point.  I also searched and did not find any similar problem (this is not the same as restarting without end about 0%).  I'm starting to think that it will never go beyond this point.  Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

  • My computer is stuck on the 3/3 update, and even if I force power off and restart, that just guard on that happening. What can I do?

I run windows vista on my pc, and every time that I turn it on, it just sits on the 3/3 update and will not progress. Even when I force my PC to power off and restart it, it continues to be. The first time he tried this update, I have dropped about 3 hours and returned to the configuration to update: stage 3 of 3-0% screen. Since it always happens. My pc is unusable because of this. What can I do?

.. .my computer came pre-installed with vista, so I do not have a disk

Not that I recommend a repair install, but the manufacturer was required to provide a way to reinstall Windows. If the computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to reinstall Vista.

Assuming that Vista SP2 is not installed, I recommend you open a free support incident, NIC. See the link in my previous answer. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • Stuck at step 2 updated configuration

I have vista home prem 64 bit, it was automatic updates and did last night, I don't know what he was trying to load.  He is stuck at step 2 of 3 Configuration of updates, it says 100% full and do not turn off your computer.  It has been like this since at least 6-7 hours last night.

    What to do?

    Hi Randy,

It's been a while, we can think that the update is stuck and will not continue any further.  You can press Ctrl, Alt & Del and open Task Manager.  You should see the update on the Application tab, and you can select it and press end task.

Click on the start ORB > Control Panel > programs and features, on the left, select view installed updates and see if the update that was being Setup finished installing.  If it does not have and does not appear on the list, you can restart your computer and try to install the update mode without failure.

To do this, restart your pc and even if your pc is booting press the key F8 on your keyboard to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.  On the Advanced Boot Options menu, select Safe Mode and press ENTER.

Your computer will boot mode safe by using only the basic drivers and services, hopefully allowing Windows Update to complete the installation of the update, you are having problems with.

Now, whenever I try to open a file or use whatever it is, it seems stuck with the ROAR - once an hourglass on the old computer - and nothing happens. Then the whole again. I really want to this time just download all my files on an external hard drive so I can get a new computer, but it will not let me even copy / paste a single file without getting bogged down. Hi MZ1_6789,

    ·         What is the exact error message?

    ·         Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not persist in SafeMode with network, perform a clean boot to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 2: Follow the steps in the article.

See if you are able to boot mode safe mode with networking (one of the boot advanced options).  If this isn't the case then start with your Vista support and select the option to repair your computer.  Then do a system restore to a date prior to the update.  Once you are able to start and access the internet, then install this update: KB937287.  Once it is installed, and then run Windows Update.
