Updates to Windows Firefox blocking systems to blue screen since 09/02/10

Since Windows 7 updates tonight (09/02/10) I have blue screen crashes when you run the Mozilla Firefox browser. It started just this evening with the latest Windows updates. I have reported this here and on Mozilla and hope that someone set quickly. If this isn't the case, I'll have to restore both of my laptops to the restore point before applying updates. We running Windows Home Premium 32 bit, and the other is WHP 64-bit, so I know the issue is not limited to one specific machine.

Firefox bug Forum sent me this reply. Not specific to Win7, but leads me to think it may be something similar...

This has nothing to do with your problem if you can start your computer Win7 (not Firefox) without getting a BSOD.

I ordered the Dell XP disc and did the re-install. It works fine now. The Dell technical support had me do some updates on the web as well. I have not had problems since. What happened with the automatic updates completely wiped out my operating system. At least I don't have to buy a new computer.

If nothing else works, try reinstalling your operating system. It worked for me.

    Hello

    Thank you for the information.

System Restore helped to heal the cause (last option of course)

not sure about the Windows update that seemed to start the problem, but it is 2 instances of run once Wrapper were running.   I have found that if black screen you started the Task Manager, then selected and close it, either run it once windows Wrappers would begin.

Anyway thanks for your help, we are now healed.

  • On firefox memory leaks cause blue screens?

On firefox memory leaks cause blue screens?

If you encounter blue screen crashes, this majority refers often to an incompatibility with a device driver, especially the graphics drivers. Go to Firefox Safe Mode and disable the use of Firefox hardware acceleration of graphics.

    Assuming that Firefox is closed:

Hold down the SHIFT key when you start Firefox. You should get a small dialog box. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

(If Firefox is running, use Help > restart with disabled modules to call the dialog box.)

In Firefox, open the Options of the Advanced tab dialog box:

the button Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) > Options > advanced

In the mini ' General' tab, uncheck the box for "use hardware acceleration when available.

This will take effect after you exit Firefox and start it up again (in normal mode).

    Hello

I saw the 0x0000007B BSOD caused by trying to install XP on a disk hard while the BIOS is designating the reader as AHCI instead of IDE. XP has no native AHCI drivers, resulting in a stop 7B. Unless the PC had originally Vista or Win 7, but it might be useful to check that it is not likely.

If the BIOS is set to AHCI, you could do one of three things (depending on whether your PC has a floppy drive)...

1 find the Setup F6 disk on AHCI support at installation time (start with the manufacturer's website if you do not already have such a thing). Watch the very hit F6 prompt early in the installation process.

    2. change the setting in BIOS on IDE / ATA

    3. create a new "slipstreaming" installation disc drivers AHCI in the existing installation disc, see http://www.nliteos.com/index.html

After the back if your BIOS is IDE / ATA

  • Windows continues to if crush/blue screen mentions stdriver32.sys and bios updates

My computer crashes, a blue screen with lots of text flashes up briefly before the restart of the it, I took a photo of the last time so I could read: says:

"A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

It gives then a few steps to follow if the problem happens again, but I do not understand what I have to do. The first is to check that I have enough disk space (pretty sure I do, there are 60 GB free on the hard drive). Then he said: If a driver is identified in the error message turn it off / update. He suggested then update BIOS/disable cache/occultation layout.

I'm not sure if it's just a standard error message?

    Technical information:

This happened about 15 times now, usually I have Firefox running on time, possibly Skype or msn also - don't know if this is relevant.

After the crash, the computer reboots normally, so far. I reallly appreciate any help or advice.

    Thank you. Paul

It seems that this is caused by SoundTap, recorder of audio.

You can uninstall it if you need, or if you use it, reinstall it to ensure that get you the most up-to-date for your operating system version.

If you still get the BSOD, you can post your DMP files so that we can check out them?

You can zip the MiniDump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make it available via Windows Live SkyDrive. You can then provide the link to that on this forum.

The following link has information about the use of Windows Live SkyDrive:

    http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7itproui/thread/4fc10639-02dB-4665-993a-08d865088d65

If you have problems to compress the minidump files copy the minidump files to another location such as a folder on the desktop

In addition, you do not necessarily have compress the minidump files, you can download one at a time.

P.S. I don't seen any possibility to attach files, it might go to the private message.

    Yes, thank you!

The attached file of the DMP is the verification of bug PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50) .

This indicates that invalid system memory was referenced.

Bug control 0 x 50 usually occurs after the installation of a faulty hardware or installation failure of material (usually associated with defective RAM, either main memory, L2 RAM or RAM video cache).

Another common cause is a defective system service installation.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

    1. uninstall Asus PC Probe as well as any other Asus bloatware as soon as POSSIBLE.

2 run Memtest for NOT LESS than 8 ~ (several hours):

    Memtest86 +:

    Download Memtest86 + here:

    http://www.memtest.org/

    Which should I download?

You can either download the ISO pre-built you want to burn to a CD and then boot from the CD, or you can download the automatic installer of the USB. What this will do is format your USB drive, make a boot device and then install the necessary files. Both do the same job, it's just you that you choose, or you have available (be it CD or USB).

Note that some older generation motherboards do not support USB boot, your only option is CD (or floppy if you really wanted to).

    How Memtest works:

Memtest86 writes a series of test patterns for most of the addresses of memory, reads the written data and compares it to find errors.

The default pass is 9 different tests, varying in the modes of access and test data. A tenth test, bland, is selectable in the menu. He wrote all the memory with zeros, then sleeps 90 minutes before checking to see if the bits have changed (perhaps because of refresh problems). This is repeated with all those for a total time of 3 hours by pass.

Many chipsets can report RAM speed and timings by SPD (Serial Presence Detect) or EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles), and some even support changing the expected memory speed. If the expected memory speed is overclockee, Memtest86 can test that memory is free of error with these faster settings.

Some hardware is able to report the status of the "PAT" (PAT: active or PAT: disabled). This is a reference to the Intel performance acceleration technology; There may be the BIOS settings that affect this aspect of memory synchronization.

This information, if it is available for the program, can be displayed via a menu option.

Other questions, they can most likely be answered by reading this excellent guide here:

  • Windows 7 stuck on the blue screen when I try to update of Skype.

I have the HP - Pavilion g7 Notebook and have not had any problems until I was getting a blue screen of death after that update of Skype, but I have on my computer. I had to do a system recovery several times until I discovered that it's a problem apparently caused by Skype, now Skype wants to update again and windows7 doesn't like it at all, the machine crashes again. Last resort, I downloaded an old verson of Skype that works very well, but long term does not solve the problem.  If there is a fix what's not got any suggestions for Skype, for that to be resolved. The only thing I hear it might be related to a driver that has not been updated.  What can I do?

  • Windows 8 HP laptop blocked on clear blue screen after auto repair.

My younger brother, who has a laptop HP in Windows 8, told me recently that her computer was broken. I turned it on and it works normally with loading points and logo of HP that move in a circle. Then after a few minutes, a brief blue screen appears with a frowny face and a message that says: "your PC has encountered a problem and needs to restart." We are only collecting the error information, and then we'll restart for you. "After that it shows that for about two seconds it goes back to the HP screen where it says now auto repair. Then it goes to a black screen blank, followed by a white light blue screen with which I can see get around and see the mouse. I tried pressing all the buttons I could think of, all the 'F', control + alt + delete, etc, but I can't really start up where it can connect. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this problem that began after I installed the latest update of windows 7, 2 days ago.

    Try this:

To access the system recovery environment in Windows 7, simply start your PC, just before the system loads the Windows operating system. Press the [F8] key function 8 on your keyboard which will launch the menu Advanced Boot Options. You will see a new option "Repair your computer", select this option and press 'Enter' on your keyboard.

This will allow you to start system recovery environment and access to the same tools.
