USB device recognized on Windows 7, but not Windows XP

Last week, some of my USB devices need not be recognized on my Windows XP SP3 laptop.

First of all, it happened with 2 external USB HDD connected via a mini USB hub. Connecting them individually did not solve the problem. The error I got was:

USB device not recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has worked and Windows does not recognize.

More importantly, the laptop is no longer recognizing my USB thumb drive, which works perfectly on my Windows 7 machine to work.

Can I reinstall my USB drivers? Just remove the USB devices, reboot and let Windows reinstall them? They need to be specific to the manufacturers of the drivers?

I deleted it and reinstalled my hubs USB Device Manager etc, but a device is not installed correctly: mass storage controller. It is of course preventing me from accessing the USB and external hard drives. Where can I get the drivers for this if Windows XP does not have?
Sure that the key USB is FAT32 (the default format)
I went in the properties of the mass storage controller in the Manager of peripheral and copied the device ID. I did a Google search and was surprised to find that it was a card reader. I downloaded the drivers from my manufacturer Web site, and Windows has detected and installed the drivers for the card reader, as well as the mass storage controller. The USB appears in the Explorer, but shows 0 items. I have
After the reboot, the USB is not in Windows Explorer, and when I unplug and reinsert an error comes up saying the USB device is not recognized and malfunctioned.

The solution was to turn off the laptop, remove the power cable and leave it for a few hours, before feeding it back.

Windows detected and installed the device very well then.

I don't think that I understand perfectly why he fixed.

  • USB-6009 recognized by Windows but not by MAX

I have a NOR-USB-6009, just bought this week. I installed the full package of NOR-DAQ (NIDAW910f0.exe), rebooted and plugging the unit. It is recognized by Windows (it appears in the title of "Data Acquisition hardware" in Windows Device Manager), but will not appear in the measurement and Automation Explorer, despite updates and reboots. Any advice on how I can make the device appear in MAX, so I can set it up?

I'm running Windows 7 x 86. MAX is the 4.6.2f1 version. The driver is listed in the Windows as version 2.4.0f4, copyright 2010 (it has been downloaded this week, so obsolete driver versioning should not be a problem). I tried several USB ports, all with the same result.

The light on the unit will flash green.

I did two NOR-USB-6009; I tried both, with the same result.

    Advice?

    Thank you!

    -Dan

Problem solved, FYI. The solution was just to restart twice more.

The answers to your question, however, wer:

    * It seems perfect, with the small icon or no exclamation point

    * Yes, it's called a USB-6009 in Windows

    * Yes, the device has worked before

    * Yes, all other USB stuff works very well

We will not call it a problem for the moment; I don't know what was going on.

    Thanks for your quick response!

  • USB foot pedal problem (Infinity IN-USB-2): recognized by Windows but does not work on VMware Workstation 10

When I connect an Infinity IN-USB-2 pedal for my guest Windows 7 Professional (on Ubuntu 14.04 and VMware Workstation 10.0.2), the pedal gets recognized by Windows and different applications, but by pressing the pedal itself has no effect.

I downloaded a USB foot pedal Tester (http://vec-infinity-in-usb-1-foot-pedal-tester.soft112.com/) on the client and he acknowledged that the device is connected, but when I pressed on any of the three pedals, the tester has not detected the presses.

I tried the pedal on a real Windows computer, and it worked fine.

When I connect the pedals, even with the guest in the foreground, VMware Workstation will appear a dialog box:

The specified device is claimed by another (usbhid) driver on the host operating system. The device can be used. To continue, the appliance will be first disconnected from its current driver. [Cancel] [OK]

When I click 'OK', we state above: Windows recognizes that the device is connected, but foot-presses are not detected. My other USB devices are not pop this dialog box. (Click Cancel maintains the device disconnected from the guest.) I don't know if the dialog box is significant or a red herring.

Here's what/var/log/syslog says when I connect the pedal with the Windows client in the foreground:

kernel: [281434.822751] usb 2 - 1.7: new low speed USB device number 28 using ehci-pci

Thanks for the ideas on solving this problem.

Answering my own question: I spoke with a salesman who told this pedal does not work on virtual machines for the following reason:

These pedals are all just Universal USB controllers that require programs or applications to be able to see and recognize them for use. Because they are installed by the base of Windows and Generic USB devices drivers, they can not be seen my remote computers via USB sharing etc.

They recommended using a hotkey program to work around the problem. I have not tried this solution, but bought a different pedal that works out of the box with VM: a vP-1 vPedal. Lower build quality than infinity (in my opinion) but it works perfectly.

This is the idea of the key of the seller:

I have a solution that will allow you to use the pedal as expected if the remote program who need to use supports the use of shortcut keys. For example, these pedals are commonly used with NCH Software Express Scribe professional software. This software can use either a pedal, or you can assign the playback functions to access keys. In the scenario you are talking you re Express Scribe on the remote computer to use keyboard shortcuts, you then install Pedalware (http://www.altoedge.com/pedalware/index.html), a free Windows only the foot pedal utility made by NCH Software, you then use the Pedalware utility to assign the buttons on the pedal of a keyboard shortcut that coincides with those remote program.

  • Recognized by the BIOS but not by Windows 7 disks

I have 4 internal installed hard disks that worked well up until the other day. The first is my main C: drive. The second is my main data with several patricians disc. Then, I have two drives more who serve backup online and archive.

When that I start my computer, the BIOS reports all four drives are present, but for some reason any Windows 7 seems not be recognizing the last two. They are not classified in management of the discs, even on a new analysis and won't come when I try to scan for missing devices using Device Manager, where they are also not listed.

Someone at - it ideas why this might be?

    Hi enormouse affect,

    1. you did it any software / hardware on the computer before this problem past?

    2. What is the number of brand and model of the computer?

There are several possible reasons that the hard drive is not recognized.

    · Missing Chipset drivers

    · Hardware failure

    · It is an IDE drive, and it is in the wrong state (master / slave)

    · It is disabled in the bios

Determine if the hard drives Sata or IDE. Go into the bios and see if the disks are disabled by accident. If you have verified all of this, and the drive is still not recognized, download the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer of your motherboard chipset. Try to change the mode from AHCI to IDE in the bios.

Note: Changing the BIOS / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

Is his as well. Especially if you have the problem of speed with a single
    USB 2.0 device is attached.

Well, if you want to try a upgrade/repair on-site Installation and then a complete cleaning
    Windows Setup.

You can use another DVD that aren't copy protected but you you need to own
Product key. It must be the same version 32 or 64 BIT Vista OEM. Also the system
machine to usually sell the cheap disk since you already own Windows. Don't forget to make a
good backup or 3 (security in redundancy).

I tried system restore to restore to when I know they worked (Saturday). But the restoration said it cannot restore at this time there. I drive four other date back (Thu, Fri, Thur, sea) and it woul don't restore of any of them.

I went to the HP web page for this computer. They have no USB drivers, so I download the chipset and installed driver. It does not work.

I tried to uninstall USB devices by using Device Manager. Devide manager uninstalled, then I rebooted the machine and it reloaded automatically usb drivers. But I can not use devices.

I tried Device Manager-> select your hardware-> right click-> properties-> tab driver-> update driver-> online search for the driver.

I tried to uninstall in safe mode, run usb.inf and then re-startup - which did not work.

I am current internet search for USB drivers for this computer. But I still found nothing.

Anyone know where I can find USB drivers for the HP Pavilion a1515n or should I be looking for on google. Currently, I'm looking Drivers USB a1514n.

I would like to reinstall the USB drives, but I can't find them. Or some otherway to get USB devices working again.

    Thanks for any help.

    All,

    I got it to work!

I have not updated the driver for the USB hub. However, I finally tried to update the driver for the USB EHCI controller. Once I updated the driver for it, all the USB ports and the connected devices are recognized.

Life is good again. It took me 5 hours to understand that I had to update a different device driver, but hey - at least it works!

  • USB thermometer works in Hyperterminal & MAX, but not in my VI

I have USB (Omega TJ - USB) thermometer. I contacted with her success in Hyperterminal. When I try with MAX, it usually starts working after the second attempt to read/write. But even if I put the termchar 0xD and termchar_en to True, I still have to type my writing as 'C' back ' 20.2 c ' (20.2 C being the temperature) any idea why this happens?

In addition, I go ahead and make my VI, very similar to that found in the labview tutorial - image shown here: http://zone.ni.com/cms/images/devzone/tut/a/e09bfd41228.gif I put it for baud: 38400, 8n1. and I also write 'c', but I get the error 1073807339. I tried to change the buffer without change in the results.

I thought it would be a relatively simple task, but it seems that I am bad, or overlooking something simple.

    Hi Chknrckd,

Also what could be the problem, is that the way hyperterminal sends characters (when you type words). LabVIEW will send a string at the same time, while that hyperterminal sends each character at a time.

At the office, I have Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 is installed. My PC connects to an area of the company that runs on Microsoft Windows Server 2008. I use Thunderbird on my laptop to connect to my Outlook account. How can I do this?

In view of the fact that they appear to be a Windows-using exclusively organization, it is most likely they use MS Exchange.

Thunderbird uses Internet POP, IMAP and SMTP standards. MS Exchange can use these but the admin has failed them. It is possible that your e-mail client Android has the possibility of using a Microsoft proprietary protocols to work with Exchange.

If standard protocols are not available, you can use the Davmail modules or Exquilla in Thunderbird so that it can appear to be an Exchange-compatible e-mail client. I use Davmail successfully on my place of work.

Keep in mind that if they do not POP etc., it is unlikely that they will allow external connections to internal e-mail accounts. The usual ways to allow such connections are VPN or OWA.
