Use of a USB as the recovery CD

How can I use my thumb usb reader to do the "recovery CD" is it still possible? If not, please let me know

I don't think it's possible because I don't know any way to know the BIOS to boot from the USB key.  You have to use a CD/DVD.

Good luck! Lorien - a - MCSE/MCSA/network + / A +.

  • A key using self-powered USB causes the base station go "off-line".

I found that by using a USB drive self-powered, as the WD My Passport, without a USB powered, hub attached to the base of the station USB port has caused the base station go "off-line". In fact, using a powered hub does not always remedy the situation, but it is more reproducible without one.

This is true for the AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule 802.11ac. The problem does not occur immediately, but it may happen over several days. The symptom is that the player is no longer lies in the Finder, or the base station appears in AirPort Utility.

My question is if others have had the same results? ... and did you find permanent solutions?

USB key "seems" less reliable on the airports of AC model than on previous versions.

I tend to not use USB attached to routers because I think it's convenient mediocre and poor speeds. But I tested with previous models, and it seems ok...

KT those a few posts here a me trial there. These are not self powered readers... who I have long recommended people avoid the use (without a powered hub)...

Re: External backup drive down regularly

In fact, the wire is different from what I remember... Age don't you know.

But I did the test on an AC TC. The result has been very reliable. He did not cause the TC to close... but I lost the connection of the USB almost every day... except for a trial where I kept the USB drive mounted in the Finder... so that the USB drive wouldn't turn it down. He then worked for a few weeks... until what the noise of rotation of disk (sitting next to me) drove me crazy... as soon as he was mounted is more, he would pass the same existence as before.

The previous model TC was barely big enough for the internal use of the power supply units. So powered car running disc was impossible.

Provide EI (GEN 1-5) at 1. 8A and 12v was adequate, but the standard USB port is estimated at 500 my wrong to manage disks free power.

You would certainly think AC 12v 5A power supply models would have a lot of power. Yet, power problems are a major problem still. Supply is extremely sensitive and stop easily for reasons I'm still to understand.

Where the long threads on power issues to the AE.

Now, I'm going to speculate... I think that SOME problems are associated with power.

What is the USB port side in airports of AC? Is it still 500ma? Apple never seem to give easy to find info on these details.

Do you know? I haven't measured it, but I can try timing the time it takes to charge a phone.  Assuming that it will immediately trigger.

Then he will have problems with a self-powered drive. Even if the drive has less energy than quotes, current during starting is much higher. The restriction of the power on the USB port is managed by a self regulator recovery... Once you triggered it, you must stop the power... then reboot the machine to restore power.

Then, I also did the test with hub powered... and like your results... It was better. Longer time between the drive disappears from the network. But it was not enough to stop it.

There is another interesting effect using self-powered hubs... I discovered this on a computer running Mac OS lets say! The computer would not start with a powered hub connected to the front USB. Hubs self-powered cheap, showing a defect in their design. They can refer to the USB port. In this computer, it was enough to stumble on the good power circuit and prevent the supply, commissioning... As long as the computer is running, everything was fine... but if I turned off it would not start. I finally woke up I had to exit the USB every time. At one point, I made a "special" Cup USB cable 5v line so the hub can stay connected. You can probably just to isolate the 5v of contact in the USB. Regardless of the configuration of power USB in the AE or TC is as you can assume she's sensitive enough... and at any time when the 5V on USB hub exceeds the 5V in AE it could trigger.

The symptom is that the player is no longer lies in the Finder, or the base station appears in AirPort Utility.

Endangered of AU base station is not uncommon.

It responds to the pings? I guess he still has lights but is he blocked? You still get internet through it?

Try to open it manually in to THE... use of the file / configure from others and put the IP address of EI.

  • How to create a bootable DVD/USB since the recovery Partition?

    Hi guys,.

So, I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-141 (of Greece) and my broken hard drive. Unfortunately, I lost my recovery discs. I changed my hard drive, I installed the operating system, but I would like to have my computers it was (with all crapwares... Wink)

I found a guy with the same laptop and it can send the recovery disc. In fact, he has already sent the disc 2 (he sent me two copies of his CD online) that he created when he bought the laptop (by recovery media creator). However, these discs are not bootable and (I read) that you use just them and when you restart the system through the Recovery Wizard. Unfortunately, it has not worked for me (at least with the CD of my friend sent me).

Do you know some way that I can do? I want to get my friend a recovery disk? Can he create an ISO of the recovery partition?

    Any suggestion is welcome!

    Hello

To be honest I n t have experience with such things, but I found very interesting document in the knowledge base of Toshiba - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

    Check it out.

  • Noise all using any device USB to the Satellite L655 - 19H

    Some time ago I bought the laptop Satellite L655 - 19 H.
After say 2 or 3 weeks of use, I realized that sometimes it makes strange noise - like whistle not very strong, or something like that. Then I realized that it depends on the use of usb devices, when I plug in usb-flash Cards, keyboard, mouse, webcam no matter what usb device - this noise appears.
Gave my phone for warranty service, they have repaired more than 1 month, then gave me the diagnosis - problem with the motherboard, the motherboard replaced.
But the problem is always the same, the same noise. Is not too strong but after Let's say 5 hours near this large moskito makes crazy ^^.
    So I have two questions:

    1. everyone knows what this noise could be connected to? I am not an expert in the field of electronic devices, but spoke with a friend of mine, he said, it could be related to damaged transistors or defective to the Manger-usb or something, this is perhaps true?

    2. How can I check the serial number of the motherboard that has been installed on my device, when it was produced - I want to check the warranty service guys have really done anything, and they just kept my laptop 1 month in stock and then said, he fixed, man.

Thanks for your help and best regards.

    Very interesting question.
Have you noticed the same behavior with or without adapter?

    # I think you're the first person on this forum who has this strange issue reports related to the use of external USB devices, so I don't think it is a general problem
    # This can be problematic. Have you checked screws at the bottom of your laptop? They are like a new or it is visible that your laptop has been opened?

What you can try is to communicate with other services and ask to check again.

  • Q: How do I restore from USB if the recovery partition is deleted?

Hi, make a backup of my spectrum 14 of jealousy cumputer Windows 7 on a USB stick with hp Recovery Manager. After that I deleted the restore disk partition and installed Windows 8. Now have sleep/power issues on Windows 8, need to go back to 7 can I test before sending it in for repair.

Even if I did a backup USB, of bus I can't boot from the USB and the ect/f11 option at startup, does nothing, yet windows just starts.

Now, how can I restore from a USB Pendrive without having access to the F11 restore the disk option, how to reinstall System Restore?

    Hello

A backup is not a clone. You have cloned partition to a USB bootable for her to work.

The HP Backup & Recovery Manager does not copy the recovery partition, even if you back up the entire hard drive.

Here is a reference for the HP Recovery Manager manual.

Unless you do a recovery as a DVD or USB media, the only source for what is available to you is to buy a set of recovery disks.

I would like to have better news for you on this subject.

    Best regards.

  • DROID: Can you use any mic usb with the brick to charge?

Sorry, it's maybe a stupid question, I'm generally pretty good with computers and technology, but I don't want to take any chances with an amazing new piece of equiptment.  I got an LG dare before the droid and the dare had a much longer charging cable and was also micro usb.  The usb cable said LG on it, like the motorola droid, said.  Can I use cable of the Dare with the droid as long as I plug it into the power droids brick?  Thank you

I bought one yesterday long Radio Shack so that I could use the cable stock for a connection point permanent for my office. It works very well.

  • Create a USB from the recovery CD recovery provided - SOLUTION

You don't have to buy and CD/DVD external for use provided recovery CD. I guess you all have access to a computer with a CD player. Also, you can buy a 2 GB USB flash memory.

Using any other computer with a linux or win OS - insert the CD and create the image of this CD .iso file using any application of CD/DVD writer provided. If you use Ubuntu or linux in general, you can use of Brasero CD/DVD burner. Once in the Brazier, choose Copy CD/DVD and in the drop-down menu, select image file. Brasero will create the .iso image file and save it on your hard drive in GNU as file brasero.iso.

If you prefer to use the terminal / shell to create an iso file enter these commands:

    sudo umount/dev/cdrom

    DD if = of = file.iso / dev/cdrom

Now we have created the image file and is sitting on the hard drive for you. Now we must create a USB bootable from this image. To do this, download Unetbootin from the link below. It is available for linux and win.

Once you have downloaded Unetbootin, you insert the USB memory (it takes 2GB). Launch Unetbootin. Now the option select the second option - iso image and browse to the location of the file on your hard drive and click Open. Below select the usb - slot Linux key something like/dev/sdb1 or/dev/sdc1 - usually it is the name of the drive selected automatically by Unetbootin.

Click on apply or Ok. the bootable USB key will be created in a few minutes. Once it's done insert in your Toshiba NB 100 and press F12 to start the netbook, a menu option will display - select USB device and press ENTER.

Now the machine will start and menu start Unetbootin will show - recovery SELECT, then press enter and follow the instructions - and you'll be all set. No need to spend extra money for an external CD drive.

I tried yesterday and works like magic. Good luck.

  • Use wireless and USB at the same time on an OfficeJetPro 8500

I have a HP OfficeJetPro 8500 Wireless I want to use both wireless to other computers by using the USB connection to the office which is in the same room and the House. Is it possible to do both at the same time? The manual suggests that you connect using wireless or connect USB but says nothing about aid from both. Thank you

    Hello

    Yes, you can do both.

Install the USB with your desktop computer at the office.

Install wireless on other wireless devices.  Your other devices should find the OJ Pro 8500 Wireless and connect.  You should be asked the SSID and password on these devices.

It will depend also on the number of wireless devices can manage your router, so make sure that your router is capable.

    Hello

The recovery image can be created on a CD/DVD disc or USB memory stick. As far as I know you cannot use a common USB HDD for recovery.

  • 3011G satellite freezes the recovery running during the formatting process

I work in a computer shop, but I think it's better to try to post here and hope for the best, but to send the computer. I'm working on return to Toshiba as DOA.

Basically, the problem is, when I run the restoration, the computer crashes during the formatting process to 'Progress' 23-11 minutes from the end.

Since it is not the first time I have a problem with this particular model, I wonder if someone more clever that I had found a workaround... The operating system is Windows Vista and I use original CD to start the recovery.

    Any help would be appreciated.

PS Excuse the bad English, I'm typing this with my left toe (figuratively). A lot of work today, huh.

The Satellite 3011 G is unclear to me. Are you sure you typed the series of laptops good?

In any case, the installation should generally run smoothly, without any functioning anomaly.
The HARD drive has been formatted in the wrong way or HARD drive could malfunction.

So in any first you have to format the HARD drive and remove all partitions on the HARD drive
I noticed several times as HARD drive partitions a bad may have a negative influence on the installation of the OS since the recovery CD!

    Hello

I have a few problems of serious material with my Toshiba Satellite M70 122 and now I wanted to use recover my laptop with the recovery cd.
    Pretty sad I lost it...

I have already appealed to the Netherlands from Toshiba and they informed me that they don't have them any more...

Here's my question... anyone knows where I can download (torrent) someone could help me by sending the drive via e-mail or something like that.

    Sincerially,

    Cindy

Toshiba recovery image is not downloadable!
This disc is copyrighted and it s not allowed to copy and distribute copyright ;) disks
    You know.

If you want you can install the Win operating system from the original disc of MS and then could download drivers from internet!

There is no test in the past, but I guess you have to do on the track:

Load the MS-DOS driver for external DVD drive to access
Boot the CD of facilities here in the hope that it will market

The instructions of assistant decision-making support, that the thumbdrive are not compatible with Windows 8 ?

However, it seems that the recovery thumbdrive must be compatible?

    What I don't understand? ..... Izzy

    Hi @Izzy11201 ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your TouchSmart from HP ENVY 15 laptop and issues using a USB key as the recovery media.

I think that the laptop it tell you that the Thumbdrive could not be formatted for all functions of Windows 8. It doesn't have to be 32 GB and is compatible to Windows 8 to create a recovery USB Flash disk. Here is a link to the creation of recovery disks or USB in Windows 8 flash player, if you need it.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

  • Hard drive does not start after the use of the recovery on USB Manager

The hard drive on HP G62t - 350 CTO Notebook to my newphew failed. I could create a USB recovery in the Recovery Manager. I installed a new 120 GB SSD. The original hard drive was bigger, do not remember now but 250 or 500 GB. I know that the recover the system after the hard is replaced (Windows 7) said "to avoid problems, install a hard drive as big or bigger than the replaced hard disk", but that's a question for later.

Computer started fine of USB (in fact, is set to boot from USB if present by default). Recovery Manager starts. I choose minimum installation. He goes through the process of partitioning the SSD and copying files. Said so to remove the external media and restart, the computer will restart several times during the process, blah, blah, blah. I get out of USB and restarted, but after POST I get "no bootable media present.

If I try to reboot, leaving the USB in, it starts in USB and that we are at the beginning. I am able to confirm with a rescue disk, the SSD has an NTFS partition that had Windows files copied to it and a large amount of unallocated space. (Something like 60% / 40%).

    So:

    1. How make bootable hard drive for, and if it was bootable, recovery processes complete?
    2. What is happening with the partitions? He creates the partition recovery first, and then after the start, the recovery partition installs the operating system? If so, I might have to give up this process because since I'm moving to smaller storage, I don't want to devote half of the drive to a recovery partition.
    3. Official recovery media help? A technician told me that he would do so, but couldn't explain to my satisfaction why the USB I created with Recovery Manager does not work, so I'm suspicious of the assertion that the media created by HP as opposed to media created by me using the own HP software would be better, and since the computer is under warranty I don't want to spend $30 + to find out.

Most of the people who have installed an SSD that was smaller than the reader of the factory were unable to use any medium recovery HP with the SSD.

As an alternative, if you can still read the 25 characters on the COA affixed Microsoft Windows product key at the bottom of the computer, you can install Windows 7 family, by using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media and install Windows 7 using the product key 25 character of the COA Microsoft on your computer. Also note that you will need to download and install most of the pilots of the HP G62t - 350 CTO Notebook PC Drivers page.
