  There is no vMotioning fast problem between different manufacturers of servers - Andre's notes it is critical CPU compatibility - so if Dell and HP servers have the same processor (or family) that vmotion will work

  I have a task at hand to set up with VMware HA.

  What I've done so far,

  (1) to this end, I have 2 identical Dell PE 2950 servers and Dell MD 3000i as storage device.

  (2) installed ESXi 4 in servers (ESXi1 and ESXi2) and configured the static IP.

  (3) I configured the iSCSI SAN (MD3000i) and created the host (VMHA) group.  Added the two hosts in the host group

  (4) virtual disk created, which will be shared by both hosts and it mapped to the host group.

  I know how to install vCenter and how to create the HA cluster as well as adding guests inside.  But before that, I have a few questions.

  According to the theory the shared storage must be accessible by the two hosts.  How can I add storage shared on SAN in the hosts.  I know that the navigation, but miss me the theory somewhere.  I added shared as Datastore2 and ESXi1 and formatted with VMFS3 storage.  Now how could I add the same storage shared in ESXi2?  When I tried to add, the steps asked me to format again shared storage that I can't do?

• AnyConnect IkeV2 backup server with test

  I configured anyconnect with ikev2 on our two different sites.

  Client PC have anyconnect pre configured on their PC.

  Under profile anyconnect each site I also put the IP address of the other ASA VPN site in the case where if users at site 1 connects to the ASA at site 1 so if this ASA is down they should automatically connect to Site 2 ASA.

  Want to know how I can test whether users are able to connect to the rear for the ASA.

  Yes, this test should do the trick, and give you an indication if the anyconnect client is toggled to the ASA secondary if the primary is unavailable.

  ESXi does not include a firewall.  It uses a reverse proxy to filter incoming connections to the various services running, but it doesn't have the ability to pass this traffic on virtual machines.  Unlike VMware Workstation or Server, ESXi is designed to separate virtual machines hosted on it.

  Hello, I'm struggeling with my new Latitude D830 and the Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini Card. It won't connect wireless to my D - Link DIR-655 router.

  I am now running Vista, but I had the same problem on the same computer with Windows XP.

  I have set up my network with WPA2 only and mode mixed ng. I have 3 other computers on the network who have no problems.

  When I try to connect, I see the network at full power and I am prompted for the password. He responds with "Windows is unable to connect to..." ». • VCB & Exchange backups

  Hi, we're building a mailbox exchange server 2010 in a VSphere cluster. The server will host approximately 3200 mailboxes, each 2 GB, spread over 7 DB.

  Each of these DB will be on his own logic (on a HP EVA6400) unit number, ranging from the CT 1.1 to 1.7 TB.

  If we perform a backup VCB on this server that my understanding is that the server is in snapshot mode and meanwhile an extra space will be needed on each unit number logic for any changes made to the disks and I'll try to find an estimate for the additional space to allocate-does anyone have a rough idea of the level of congestion or tips on how to calculate this?

  With snapshots, the amount of space required would be based on the estimated amount data written during the time of expected for FullVM backup copy.

  HOWEVER... It is NOT a good idea to backup with VCB transactional systems. VSS providers and sync drivers do not play nice with SQL or Exchange. Usually, I recommend using it to only backup system using an agent for transactional/mail/base backup of data.

  Question 1: Is there a way for me to use (free LAN) save those VMS with VCB + TSMserver 5.5 + TSMclient 6.1 - in mode (an automated task - script), which local VMDK disk backup is backup with FULL-level and fasteners LUN RAW to the VM backup files of the virtual machine level. Does the solution support?

  Question 2: Is there a way in a task (separate in the 'pre' and 'post' script) as a single disc with vcb backup - for example when VM have a disk VMDK more attached, only a VMDK disk backup for is a primary partition on a virtual machine?

  Note: Backup free LAN for backup of the VCB proxy any type (level FULL or FILE) is correctly and fully functional.

  If the RAW format is really a ROW then you can do a virtual RDM and Yes, VCB will save help file or full. If she is not a ROW but a RAW, then only the VMDK can be saved via VCB.

  Not only a single disc that I saw that it's all or nothing. If you don't want to VCB to backup a drive, you can mark it independent or if it's a RDM make non-virtual.

• Unavailable backup server

  I'm restarting this topic.  I followed the direction to turn it off, wait, turn on and restart my Palm Pre Plus to launch the automatic backup, but were unsuccessful.  I keep getting the message "backup server unavailable."  Also, I have no list of previous backups, which leads me to believe that my data has never been backed up.

  I have a valid Palm profile because I can log into it, but whenever I try a manual backup, I get an error message 'server not available backup '.

  What is the step beyond to disable the backup, wait, restart, start, manual backup?

  Hi, I tried to install memeo instant backup, a program of a product I have recentley bought. I know that the software and the product is not damaged, because I am able to install it on other computers. Its my fault see however, I have a FreeAgent GoFlex 1 TB seagate external hard drive, and I had planned to use it on multiple computers. Sort of, I have it installed on my computer windows 7 any problem, but when I was installing on my windows vista computer, I accidentally unplugged the drive during the installation of the boad of seagate and memeo instant dashboard upward.  Needless to say, I knew this would be a problem. Windows popped up saying that the dashboard Seagate (which is the program that installs Memeo instant backup) have not installed properly, so I clicked on reinstall this program with the recommended settings, and I handed the drive and started the installation again. Setup of the Board of Directors of Dash Seagate stood and I started to install and when it came to installing the Memeo backup snapshot, a window is in the "Preparing to install" a windows installer, and after about 10 to 15 minutes, another windows installer window popped up saying "install the server does not" there is no error code or anything. She has just one option again or cancel

  You can uninstall the installation of backup by using programs and features? If this isn't the case, it can be it is an incomplete installation and does not let you uninstall it.

  You may need to use a 3rd party software removal tool to uninstall.
  Then reinstall the backup of the installation and see if the installation completed successfully.

  Having Dr. devices dealing with VM backups on-site, but one of the questions that arise is the time of the backup. It takes about 8 hours to backup the SQL files every night. Just to let you know its all upwards in a virtual machine environment.

  Can incorporating vRanger of connection or AppAssure with DR unit affect backup performance?

  Depending on how you are currently using the device DR with vRanger connection, your current solution could be improved.

  If you are simply using the DR as a CIFS share there is another way.

  vRanger connection also supports the Dell RDA technology, which can provide a level of deduplication side source.

  Consider implementing vRanger connection Virtual appliances (one per host), or one per cluster, your choice, the virtual devices include technology of the GDR.

  Configure the virtual machine backups to cross Virtual Appliances and target (GDR/RDS) container on the Dominican Republic.

  The backup will be a snapshot of the virtual machine, but use hot add technology to fix the disks to the virtual appliance, data are then broadcast through the virtual appliance to the GDR DR container. At the point where the data leaves the appliance virtual it's pattern matched with data stored on the Dominican Republic. All blocks that match are not sent.

  This reduces network traffic and allows backups to do more.

  If you want to add the technology to the protection of SQL as an agent-based application, then take a look at NetVault Backup, it will be directly interfacing with SQL via VDI or VSS, providing full, incremental and differential backups. It's agents also include the GDR technology and can provide source de-duplication to a DR GDR container.

  AppAssure also has an agent and can protect the content of the full virtual machine, including the SQL instance, but it will require its own server and storage and does not directly allow the DR unit to store the initial backup data. It can create Archives of data sets that can be moved from AppAssure on the good DR database server, but it's more for long-term storage.

• Server with 10 TB LUN attached by physical brutes FC connection works, but second 10TB seems to be limited

  I have an ESX Server with two virtual machines on it, one of the servers is to store medical images. These virtual machines are essentially backup servers to servers that are physical (not virtual).  The main server is a physical server with an attached IBM DS4700 direct and secondary sandbox. I have 20 TB of data spaced so far.  Side virtual server also direct a of DS4700 attached to the area of ESX and he sees the first 10 fine to, as a single disc, and Yes, I know that this seems to go against the norm.  In any case we work for well over a year to date.  I add the second 10TB and I now seem to be limited by the expected 2 TB-512 b per LUN through documentation.  I would like to know why I was able to create the first 10 TB LUN without problem using physical RDM mode, but when I try to add the next physical drive from RDM on the same server (see 9.54 TB LUN very well), using the same method, why windows or should I say VMWare ESX is not being able to see the 10 to complete this time.  I am aware of the supposed limits, but the first works fine, why only now did he not see it.  To clarify the "Add" function of VMWare 9.54 Tb thin LUN during the creation of the new disc, but in Windows, it only recognizes the first 1.5 to (so it seems) I have not actually tried to format the volume in Windows and have yet once removed from the virtual machine.

  Yes, you can map your volume of GPT in any physical Windows but I can't tell if you will experience data corruption or not, as I know that more than 2 TB volumes don't are not supported with current versions of vSphere.
