VMware discover 5 support for linux/ubuntu comments?

Dear Sirs

Is there an agent yet for linux especially Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.  With the Android development picking up speed, we have a real need to have our developers.  The main thing that is necessary for us is the USB redirection to the prompt of the client running XP/Windows 7 or even a thin client for them to download cores to our material connected to the customer.  Thanks in advance, if anyone knows of other solutions, it would be really appreciated.

Are you talking about Office VDI or on the side of client to end-users.

There is a VMware View Client for Linux, this will allow Linux machines to connect to a broker and load a Windows VDI image.

However it is not a VMware View Agent for Linux that allow a remote desktop Linux to be negotiated through the infrastructure of the view to a device from end user customers.

There are rumors of people for the agent Windows runs under Linux using wine and Rdesktop but no one seems to have posted a shot-by-shot full of way to account and then that would be completely supported the point of view of VMware.

    Install Oracle 11 g 2 on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (64-bit) Howto

The instructions are for 64-bit Ubuntu and Oracle. Any reason why run you the 32-bit operating system? Unless your current CPU prohibited x86_64 you want to limit your available installation options. You can install 32-bit software on a 64 bit OS, but not the reverse.

Please note that Oracle Enterprise does not officially support Ubuntu. You can think of Oracle Express Edition (XE) making.

  • LabVIEW for linux (Ubuntu 64-bit)

University of Helsinki uses a centralized managed linux installation on all linux workstations.  The distribution is based on Ubuntu 9.10, and it is considering moving to 10.04 LTS.  Almost all of the facilities are 64-bit, only a few old machines (> 5 years of age) are still using 32-bit installation.

In the Physics Department, there are about 500 machines and about 30% of those who are linux workstations.  We strive to get LabVIEW for Linux installed on our desktop, then run under Ubuntu 64-bit.

1 problem (not a problem): For some strange reason, the installation media does not CD/DVD use normal files (iso9660) system, but the media is formatted with the file system "Mac OS X HDF +".  It works under linux, of course, but has been a source of mild confusion.  It would be wise to change the normal file system to the next version.

2nd problem: The installation under Ubuntu does not work.  Namely:

First I mount the media with the "mount-t hfsplus/dev/sr0/media/cdrom0" and try running the installation script
    CD/media/cdrom0/Linux/labview-2009
    sudo knew
    . / INSTALL

Installation is not going smoothly.  According to the error message, the script is not found the library libbz2:

/ Media/cdrom0/Linux/LabVIEW-2009/bin/rpmq: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

However, the library is in standard place:
    $ ls/lib/libbz2 *.
    /lib/libbz2.so.1 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0 /lib/libbz2.so.1.0.4

I know, "support of the distribution" list only include Mandriva, RedHat, and SUSE.  The version of LabVIEW is the latest version of the fall of 2009.  Does anyone have any ideas what to try next?

    see you soon,
    Pekko

  • Support for Linux in Smartphones blackBerry - marketing Dept.

Sale of RIM rose by 102% to $1.88 billion for the quarter ending March 1 08. What are the chances of RIM having sufficient funds or will support, customers using Linux? A community which grew to 1.37% in September 2007 to 2.09% in October 2008.

PS Ubuntu Linux: 8 million users and more

It is not really answering your question to the Marketing Department, I don't even know if they read this forum. They could.

Have you looked here for Linux support?

  • Extreme SSD 120GB - No. TRIM support for Linux later? $150 wasted?

I am a customer of Sandisk's long-term and generally been happy with their products.

My favorite and the only OS is Linux, like the millions of PC users, laptop, Tablet and smartphone world. I'm about to take delivery of a brand new Sandisk Extreme SSD 120 GB. This is my 2nd SSD (the other being of Kingston). I just found this review online (newegg.com) about current support for Sandisk Extreme SSD TRIM for Linux:

"Cannot support a topping on LINUX. I also use EXT4 throw tag in/etc/fstab and it does not work. I sent Sandisk. They said: "I understand that you were not able to activate the TRIM on your SSD 120 GB extreme linux system command. We are sorry for the inconvenience this problem may have caused. »

Then I remember seeing this in own of Sandisk SSD info online:

"Any operating system can be installed on an SSD. There is NO compatibility problem with regard to the operating system. Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix any version or BACK can be installed on an SSD.
Certain features such as the PLATE only are supported in mode native on the latest operating systems such as Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6 and higher. »

I'm worried. First of all, I have always use the latest version of Linux, continually updated to day and make all the necessary preparations for the maximum performance of SSD (including changes to operating and fstab AHCI). Then my other SSD worked flawless since (installed 6 months ago) news including the TRIM under Linux.

Then I read elsewhere that Sandisk provides no SSD firmware still updates (?). Is this correct?

If so, then Houston, we have a (major) problem. Product not suitable to use? Misrepresentation of product? Inadequate technical support? Incomplete engineering front of dumping on the market?

I might be worrying unduly. Heck, I really hope someone can help me, clarity and TRIM unlimited direct. Can I use my new Sandisk Extreme SSD as my other player, without product development stressful of Sandisk. (Before I drop the fanboys Win7 and Mac, Linux is also valid in the real world like any OS corporate-drone. Heck one day you too could see the light...)

Good news all around. Extreme SSD arrived and installed without a hitch. Also received a number of useful answers E-mail of Support technical Sandisk (thanks, notably, spear, who approached the plate). In short, if you have a recent Linux kernel installed, opt for the filesystem ext4 on both / and / Home. But first of all to be absolutely sure that you have selected the AHCI option in the section of the BIOS of your motherboard SATA mode. (Flashing the latest mainboard BIOS should also help.) So to allow TOPPING Linux offers edit you your file/etc/fstab to include the "noatime" instructions and "throw" in the lines making reference to / and / Home. Save and you should be good to go. So to answer my own original doubts - TRIM is supported for latest Linux OS provided that you follow the installation process. I lose $150? Probably not, but only time and toggle NAND will tell!

product page indicates that linux for the Scanjet 3000 Pro s2 drivers are available:

Indeed, HP is the main contributor to HPLIP, but HPLIP does not all drivers for Scanjet scanners:

I see in the thread that the poster has got some HP drivers by contacting through the discussion list, I suggest to try the same thing and check if you got no response, it's a forum for peer to peer and not direct contact with HP...

You can sign up and send a mail to the sane-devel list, prescribed for such a seems to me:

  • VMware converter 4 support for partitions on dynamic disks

I currently have a server physical windows 2003 which has its system and data partitions defined as dynamic disks (C and D partitions lie on disk 0-dynamic) not well why it's set up this way, it was built just like that.

The goal is to convert this virtual server and I read many forums stating that dynamic disks are not supported for vmware converter, but some cases have succeeded where the target score was a record time-basic-but-now-dynamics.

Is this the case? and if so, what alternatives can be tried to virtualize the server.

Dynamic disks are supported for Windows.  The resulting virtual machine will only basic disks in a hot clone.

I would just suggest that you make a clone of hot regular and do a slight reduction in the size of the disc resulting (even if it is 1 MB).

Second, ensure that the system starts out of the c:\ partition and it is marked as a partition active and has a file boot.ini in the root.

    Kind regards

  • Adobe Creative Cloud for Linux/Ubuntu - Kick

The discussion always seems to appear every two weeks to get CC on Linux. And a lot of different pieces. In the past, he has been on the printer drivers and the rendering of the fonts on different versions of Linux. The other problem is to see how much support is there for such a product.

So why not Kick - Adobe Creative Cloud for Ubuntu?
You get to see the support that is there for such a project and obtain funding to him. And designers/developers may have more choice than crazy Windows and Os X.

  • Access Flash support on linux (ubuntu)

    Hello

Since the release of ubuntu 11.04 I was unable to watch videos that are protected by DRM. Try the test drive to the http://drmtest2.adobe.com:8080/SVP/SampleVideoPlayer_FP.html with video

http://drmtest2.Adobe.com:8080/content/anonymous.F4V is the last message displayed: "Update CP... Module. "and then nothing happens.

I tried to delete the folder NativeCache and a new libadobecp - xxx.so is downloaded and saved but still no progress.

I tested with the latest version of player 11.1 and 11.2 the last player beta on Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10.

All plans to make this work again for new linux systems because it works fine on ubuntu 10.10?

    BR

    Jonas Hagberg

OK, I finally have it works on all versions of Ubuntu (32 and 64 bit). Here are my conclusions for future reference.

10.04 - 11.10 32-bit just to install the package flashplugin - install, hal and libhal1. If flash is already installed you may need to reinstall after installation of hal with ' apt - get - reinstall install flashplugin - install ' to make it work.

    10.04 - 11.04 64-bit, follow the instructions for 32 - bit

for 11.10 64 bit, I couldn't package flashplugin - install to work, but install the package adobe-flashplugin since partner repo worked.

Too bad, it was this hassle to figure out and not mentioned in the release notes...
