vSphere Read Cache - no disc is

Hi all

ESXi 5.5 ent +.

HP BL460c Gen8 with table of P220i controller

Intel DC S3700 200 GB SSD (Intel drive is supported, also tried with Samsung 960 GB SSD)

I have a problem with the addition of an SSD in the web client. I click on manage - settings - virtual Flash Resource Management - Add capacity, but the list I empty.

Both drives are visible if you are looking for on storage cards, it is entirely possible to add as a data store, I tried on the Samsung without success.

The discs were used for the assessment of the PernixData and has worked well there.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Found the problem: the drive has been marked as non-local. It may also be that the player is not reported as an SSD (not in my case though).

    Hello

I've updated my vCenter to 5.5 and of course one of the interesting improvements is read Cache Flash. I installed the SSDS and could see in vSphere client Web and must now assign space to read flash for virtual machines.

How would you do the assignment of value to flash for virtual machines read cache. I know that it discharge of the I/O to the San, but don't know how to calculate the number in the UK for actually entry.

Does rely on the size of vmdk machine what kind of storage access.

How do you calculate how much read cache to give a particular virtual machine or if it's trial and error

    Thank you very much

This will give you a better understanding and best practices to the size of the cache in your environment.

I tried everything: I deleted the registry entries (lower and upper), I uninstalled Ant again once the driver installed... but it doesn't work. Any help?

    Hello

In addition to the fact that you can boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD, I think that it s a problem of training material
I think it's a matter of calibration of lens readers possibly the lens can not calibrate correctly in the right position of s, and this is why the drive can't handle the inserted media.

This could be the worst case, because this fault is repairable by replacing the drive.

Laptop with Windows Vista cannot read data DVD discs that burned same machine.  The discs work on another computer.  My laptop will read CD disks, he did, and it will play DVD movies. What's wrong?

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD &)
Burn DVDs and CDs and read DVDs). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to no function
while others are doing so correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner
    could help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always
    issue.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the outside edge
tolerances of the disks. They may be delivered, but it is usually cheaper to replace
    the reader.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting might not help if there are problems of alignment and wear it
    is worth it.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

power and data of the contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the system manufacturer

  • Flash Read Cache

Hi, we move to ESXi v5.5 and currently have for most blades IBM HS22/23 servers.

I would like to understand what is Flash reading comes back and use. During the review of the current literature, I do not understand what it is and what materials it applies. Can someone just explain frowhat type of material, she applies and benefits (without URL to docs)

    Thank you

The long and short of it is Vmware puts another piece on the hypervisor requesting your VM I/O buffers SSDS Rapids or flash cards for faster reads/writes of your San.  An easy way to think of this is that if you have already configured a disk to disk-to-tape configuration.  Dump you everything on the drive first for speed (several jobs at the same time, writing more Rapids, ect, ect), then send it to tape.  Its kind of the same idea with Flash Read Cache.  e/s of the VMDK is buffered or sent to the flash cache and sent to the San to increase performance.

Page 6 of this pdf wmare has a good diagram of it:

    Hope this helps

Have you tried a different cache folder location? Because Windows can limit the bridge to access the folder that you have now.

  • Carpet * a DVD-RAM UJ-820 s do not read or burn discs

Hi, I'm Natalie and I need help with my problem that occurs.

    Operating system:
    Windows XP Home Edition
    Laptop Toshiba Satellite
    Model A75-S229
Multi recorder drive: CD and DVD

The problem that happens is that I can not get any CD or DVD to work when I put them. What is happening is he's trying to load but makes the window "Not responding", unless I have the disc, then everything will be fine. What is also involved, is that I can't burn discs at all, at any speed.

Also, I would add, when I go to my computer > right click on the DVD - RAM drive > properties and under the general tab it states:

    Type: CD player
    file system: unknown

    I don't know if that's the problem...

    Can someone help me?

    HI Isabelle.

Please check in the Device Manager to see if there is a problem with your optical drive. Normally this will be displayed as an exclamation point against the device.

The fact that the file system is listed as "unknown" is because the drive could not read the format of the disc so that Windors Explorer cannot identify any file structure.

Your problem could be something very simple like a lens dirty or a faulty device driver. It is not easy to tell from your description exactly what can be wrong, but I would say you try some of the easy options so try first to clean the lens, and if this does not resolve your problem, then try to remove the drive (Device Manager) and reboot for the device will be installed new.

If all else fails, you will have checked player be an authorized Service partner.

    Kind regards

  • Qosmio G30-201 is unable to read the hd discs

I cleaned the lens of the hd player and the discs are all clean and withought scratches. The reader will read audio CDs and regular CDs, he also wrote for the dvd and cd discs.

When I insert a HD disc in the drive it just continues to produce a whiring sound strang and will not play.

I played the hd movies on the laptop when I got it first, but he is unable to read it now.
    Help, please.

    Steve

    Hello

so, if the player has played before that should always work, or? :)
Installed a few programs that could possibly affect the playback of HD discs? It might be a good idea to recover your system, perhaps to issue it s just a software.
Otherwise, if I were you, I´ll sent my machine to a service partner chartered for a material balance of health. (You still warranty?)

  • Toshiba DVD - ROM SD-M1612 cannot read a burned disc

    Hello

I have a problem. I wonder if anyone can help please.
I tried to view a DVD-R on my pc using my dvd player which is a Toshiba DVD - ROM SD-M1612, but it keeps giving me the same error message:
Windows cannot read from the disk, it is may be corrupted or in a format that windows recognizes.

The disc was burned on another computer and plays very well on this and on a normal dvd player, so I excluded that the disc is damaged.
After talking to some people, they suggested me update called firmware?
I looked at this and can't find it anywhere on Toshibas support or downloads pages feel like looking for a needle in a haystack :)

I have provided this figure as it apparently is the firmware that is currently installed on the pc.
I wonder if anyone knows where I can get the current version and if it will help me perhaps discovered the burned DVD-R.

    Hello

Sometimes this happens to me also, and to be honest it's nothing unusual.
All CD or DVD is supported by the CD/DVD drive.
I put t know what laptop you have, but in most cases the user's Guide provides information and details on the mids compatible and taken in charge.

I ve experience with TDK CD and DVDs and I convinced Mr. I ve tired different CDs and DVDs from various manufacturers and all were not entirely compatible.

The update of the firmware is not always a solution, but it is sometimes useful to improve compatibility. The update of the firmware can be downloaded from the Assembly of the computer.
It seems that Toshiba provides updates of the firmware for the series of notebook clean on the European driver Toshiba page.

To cut a long story short, try a few different CD or DVD from different manufacturers and check what support is no longer supported.

    Good bye

  • CD player will not read a certain disc.

I recently bought a game. Just today, in fact (new, not used) and put it in the disc drive. He did... some sounds as if she was trying to read it, then everything just stopped. About a month ago a few weeks ago, I bought Starcraft 2. It does the same thing. -Now, it reads the disc. I don't know when he started to read the disc that I downloaded the game online using my cd key.

But the game I bought today, has not only active. Medieval II: Total War.
Most of the discs, I found that she reads. And the whole thing of Starcraft 2, rather confused me. I, as said, don't know not when he could've started reading the SC2 disk but it is now, apparently, as I got it in my hard drive today and he was actually showing upward into the player on my computer, so I know it is the reading that now.

When I go in my computer after waiting for he can read this disc, he simply keeps the default icon. When I click on it, it tells me to insert a disc, as if there no one there already.

This is... really weird. My CD player has only started this making no doubt... a month or two ago.

Edit: I bought the battle pack, which also comes with Rome: Total War. He reads this drive very well.

It's very odd and very annoying.
