will not start up not according to any hard drive test run and it says replace was 1 he did no road noise

Compaq presario cq 70 note book pc does not start test and say no disc replacement hard drive 1

He started toward the top of loadede windows stopped it itself turned off then would not start have to take the battery out to turn it off now

Looks like your hard drive has failed. Remove the hard drive and attach it to your desktop as a 2nd hard drive and see if the bios can recognize the disc and if the disc is rotating.  If the bios does not recognize he or she does not turn, the drive has failed.  If the bios recognizes, he turns, a check disk can restore if you start.

  • Dv5 does not load Vista, failing hard drive test

I have a laptop HP DV5 with Vista - 2 years and more under warranty.  He had some problems with Windows Update error codes, I did a system restore to a point a little backward.  This does not solve the problem, so I tried to cancel restoring the system back to the State of our days.  This was fine, but then the system locked up when he tried to restart itself-it has attempted to restart for 45 minutes and got nowhere, so I turned off.  This throw Windows completely, as the system restore was not full yet, so now that my computer will boot the HP logo and start up options, but then get hung up trying to load windows (I have a black screen with a scroll bar down cycles endlessly with Microsoft Corporation written below)

Bottom line - I can't get the computer to boot windows, and system recovery does not work.  Tried directly from the hard drive and vain and ordered HP-put one disk disks this morning, once removed from the HP screen, I get the bar "Windows loading files" at the bottom, which ends in about a minute, but then it just goes back to its normal load upward, with the scroll bar and Microsoft Corporation at the bottom of the screen.  So I can't open basically even the system restore window.

I just ran the self-test of the primary hard drive and had hard disk Test do not.  I'm not particularly computer saavy (I didn't know that to do this test in reading this forum), if anyone can tell me what I should do next?  I don't want to go somewhere and get screwed!

    Thank you!

    Hi Becky,

The result of the primary Hard Drive Self Test means your hard drive is defective and must be replaced.  It is the HARD drive in my dv5.

    http://www.Amazon.co.UK/320GB-Scorpio-WD3200BEVT-SATA-5400rpm/DP/B0013E0A0M

Hard drive replacement is not difficult (generally remove two screws from the cover of the HARD drive on the bottom of your laptop, remove a futher two screws holding the disc in place then pulling on one leg to lift the reader.  Then unscrew the metal casing around your old drive - often called the caddy drive - attaching to your new drive, insert the new drive, fix it with two screws and replace the cover.  Then simply insert your recovery DVDs to load Vista on your new drive.  Here is a Youtube video showing this.

    I hope this helps.

  • computer will not install an external hard drive.

my computer does not recognize my external hard drive enclosure. I went to fry and the internal hard drive and the speaker works. I brought my computer to a friend's House and he read it to his house. It turns out that I had to put the jumpers on CSEL. When I got home and tried to plug it in, it won't read it again. I tried to troubleshoot it and he said that my mass storage device has a problem with the drivers. the thing is, he worked at the House of my friend with my computer. I do not understand and it makes me crazy. the only difference is that the reader reads to my friend's House and won't be at the mine.

    Hi danny,

Did you use the same cables in your home that have been used in your friends?

The physical location being the only variable might mean that a wire or cable is loose.

The reader must be reinstalled in the hard disc enclosure.

I recommend that you check for loose connections.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

Need help on a laptop Z575 age of 2 years that immediately after an automatic update of windows, will not start either from the hard disk or restore DVDs (blue screen). I also removed the hard drive and RAM, reinstalled and rebooted, no change.

Additional note: I was able to access the hard drive with a recovery of old program, focused on the (SpaceFM) ram charged through the DVD player. Hard drive data appears intact. Still does not start from the hard disk or a DVD of windows system.

Thank you. Rather than buying a 4 GB or more large key USB comes from put this into hard drive replacement. Installed correctly, boots very well now. No other error of the optical drive... and no explanation I can see, but that's it.

Unless something else pops up we'll just call cela a HARD drive failed after 2 years of common use. Thanks again.

  • Vista will not access my external hard drive.

I have a disk enclosure external hard iomega using a Western Digital 500 GB disk.  My HP Pavilion runs Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit).  The first time that I have it plugged into my computer, it 'installed drivers.  Then gave me a message that it must be formatted in order to be used.  When I click on 'Start', it gives me a message that I will lose all my data on the volume; When I click on 'OK' I have 'Windows couldn't complete the format ".

Using Windows Explorer, I don't see the player.

Using computer management, I can see the drive.  Details: K:\;  465.76 GB RAW;  Healthy (Primary Partition).  If I right click on the blue bar, I can try to format.  I get the same set of messages.  I can open it through computer management, but I can't put any data on it: every time I try, I get "failed to find this article.  It is no longer in [location of the file].  Check the location of the item and try again. "It will search the file to open it on my computer, but not to copy it to the external hard drive.

I know the drive works, as I bought it from a friend who has upgraded to a 2 TB drive.

    Hi Jason,

I suggest that temporarily disable you security software to see if it solves the problem.

  • Windows 7 will not install on my hard drive SATA III, even if the installer and menu of the BIOS are localization.

The controller is enabled for all SATA connectors and the drive is one of the SATA 3.0 Gbit/s ports, I've heard is a way to get through. However, it did not, either. Can anyone help?

Here is what I am dealing with, set up a few hours ago:
    -Intel DH77KC card
    -Intel Core i7 - 2600K 3.4 Ghz processor
-Disk hard Western Digital 1 TB black
-Corsair Vengeance 16 GB of Ram
    -Corsair TX650 80Bronze
    -Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
It starts, and then Windows 7 gets no more than it will not be installed on the hard disk. I can't make a new partition, either, nor can I format the drive in the window. The BIOS settings do not exactly help because I'm not using RAID and FDI does not do.
    Maybe there's something wrong.

  • Recovery disks will not recognize my new hard drive

Original title: why I can not reformat my upgrded from vista to w7 disk

I can't reformat my vista upgraded to windows 7, as I tried to add another hard drive, which will not take my recovery disks. The message to reboot

You try to add an additional hard drive or you try to replace the current hard drive with a new one?

Recovery/restore disks are specific to OEM (made by the manufacturer that also makes your computer) unless you are lucky enough to actually have on the contrary an OEM copy of the operating system in question (Windows Vista I guess) and it is bootable and will guide you through a real installation of the operating system and not a "restore image."  What means what, is supported by the OEM in question for the method - no Microsoft.

Now - you may be able to perform a new installation of Windows 7 using the Windows 7 upgrade media you have - depending on how you got it...?
