  • Can I use Dell original product key to activate a clean Windows installation after I have replace/upgrade motherboard, processor and other key components?

I have a Dell computer, with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed in the factory. There is a product code for windows on the sticker on the box. My problem is that the motherboard and CPU are released. I intend to replace and update the motherboard failed and cpu, ram, power supply, optical drive and eventually put in a larger hard drive. From what I read, I can not simply start the machine with the original hard drive, with windows already installed and activated. So if I wipe the hard drive (or put it in a new), can I clean install Windows 7 and then just use the product key on the sticker on the box to activate the new installation? Or what I need to buy a new copy of Windows 7?

I've also read on other threads, that you can "transfer" a license of Windows 7 on a different machine only if it is a "commercial" version, not OEM. If the version of Windows that is preinstalled on a Dell computer would be "retail" or "OEM"? And to reactivate the software on a rebuilt/updated machine up-to-date with the new motherboard, etc. would constitute a 'transfer to a new machine' or reactivation just on a computer upgraded?

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Windows Installer tries to download a partially installed program

Whenever I start my laptop that Windows Installer opens with "preparing to install".  It is followed by "Please wait while Windows configures Destination Compenent".  The Destination component reads "the component you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or another removable disk that is not available."  'Insert the disk of Destination component, and then click OK' is a drop down menu that reads "Source 1" use.  I think the installer is trying to install a web cam I already tried to install, but it was not compatible with Vista. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Windows 8 to 8.1 Windows of the ISO of Windows Installation Media Creation tool

I have Windows 8 on my laptop and I want to upgrade to Windows 8. 1. I have two options:
    Since Windows Store
Installation of Windows Media creation tools.
Upgrade a downloaded ISO of Windows to install Windows Media creation tools 8.1 will ask me for any product key or it will update just as if update Windows Store?
I have no product key. Upgrade the Windows store and even ISO file?
I'd prefer what option? It will automatically activate over the internet, after that the installation is made via the ISO downloaded by Windows Installation Media creation?

    Hello

If you download the Installation of Windows Media creation ISO tool or create a flash drive, you will not have to download it again if something goes wrong... This would be my choice...

It will be activated after installation is complete, it will use the same license as your current 8 Win...

You will make the upgrade of Windows while it is running, only not by starting with ISO or any other bootable media...

The creation of media Windows Installation tool will not ask a key download ISO...

The creation of media Windows Installation tool will not install upgrade... You will need to start the process yourself...

I downloaded the update, but he told me to go get the Update Rollup 2 or something, so I tried to install it and he told me that I needed to go get the .NET framework 1.1 and .NET framework 1.1 SP1. I went to download them and install them, but he tells me that "the upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded is may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program".

  • How can I reformat laptop which came with the free upgrade to Windows 7. Update download

I have a Hp Pavilion DV4-1430us comes with Windows Vista and had a free upgrade to Windows 7. I have updated successfully in December 2009. Laptop still works fine, but it's certainly time to reformat.  Only problem is that I don't have the disc of Windows 7 because it was a download.  I believe that the recovery partition will have the older operating system.  Can I create a recovery for the OS system disk I use now (windows 7)?  I don't have any except the original e-mail that said that I ordered the upgrade with a non-functional link on the HP Windows 7 Upgrade site.

The Vista HP recovery partition may still exist, but, due to the upgrade of the operating system, it may not work. Options to return the computer to a factory State include the marking of the score of "HP Recovery" active using the Windows disk management console or you are ordering and using a set of HP recovery disks.

Before you recover your computer, please check your email for a provided HP Windows 7 key or use the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to retrieve your current Windows 7 product key. Then download the same version of Windows 7, you have HERE or HERE. Now create your installation media of Windows 7 on a DVD or a USB Flash drive. Please download and use Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to create the installation media.
