Windows 7 DellOptiplesx 780 - CD/DVD player

Hello

Last week my CD/DVD drive worked very well... today or a CD or DVD will play. On the one hand a research says that Windows does not detect an installed DVD player and on the other hand a research says that for the CD-Rom drive, the latest version of the software is installed.

Thanks in advance for your help on this issue... really need the drive to install tax software.

George

What "research" have you?

What 'last version of the software"your research says is installed?

Specifically, which shows in Device Manager (click Start Orb, type "Device Manager"(sans les guillemets), then press enter "")?

Optical drivers are not lacking.  News are usually few inexpensive and easy to replace.

Your Optiplex 780 uses an optical drive 5.25 "SATA.  See, for example:

  • A DVD player is not detected (for Windows)

Windows repeat me that "a DVD player is not detected," even if there is a DVD player installed in my computer by the manufacturer.  I pushed it completely with my thumb to make sure that it is not disconnected from its moorings of connection.  The little green light on the door of the reader flashes once every second about. It did not used to do this when the DVD used to work perfectly. The driver up to date.  But my DVD still does NOT appear on my device manager page. What could be the problem? How should I do?

Also the dvd player is Intervideo WINDVD for toshiba.

    Any help is appreciated more.

    Shaks

I put t know exactly why the Win DVD hangs but especially something like that could be linked to the software files corrupt or confused.

I think that the best solution might be the reinstallation of WinDVD software.

Do you use the preinstalled WinDVD?
If Yes, then you need to run the recovery CD because the WinDVD is a part of the image of Toshiba which is placed on the recovery CD.

  • Satellite A100-1AI watch CD player but Device Manager shows the DVD player

I own a Satellite A100-1AI and went from Vista to Windows XP?

My DVD player has been discovered as a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N but is only showing as a CD drive in my computer screen.

Also Device Manager shows Mass Storage Controller and controller SM Bus as an unknown device (other).

Since the switch from Vista to XP I have not adjusted my BIOS settings

How can I make my DVD see CD and erase those unknown devices

    Thanks in advance

    Spon

    Just a question;
You can read and burn CDs?

    Regarding the unknown devices:
These devices are only compatible Vista and so there is no drivers for the mass storage controller.

    Check this box:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB83023N0000R01.htm

+ After the installation of Windows XP, there might be a yellow exclamation by a "PCI memory controller" or * mass storage controller * in Device Manager. +

    _Solution: _
+ This unit is probably the module of Robson former Turbo Memory. +
+ This hardware will only supported by Windows Vista. +
+ That is why there is no Windows XP drivers. +

  • DVD player not working not not with win 8.1

Hello. I have the HP pavilion 15-e020TU laptop. My DVD player has worked with windows 7 and windows 8. After the upgrade to windows 8.1, the DVD player does not work. The Windows Device Manager find the DVD player, but represents a brand yellow error. I chose "update driver software" and then "automatically search for updates of driver software". Then the name changed from 'Mitsumi CD drive' to 'hp DVD A DU8A5SH'. And still does not. I installed the update of the firmware from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv481en&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jum... Or do I restore to original settings - Windows 7?

Which brings me to my second question. How to restore? I did not have a backup, but I left all my data on a hard drive.

I can't find any help on any of these challenges.

    Thanks in advance.

To be honest that I n t have this unit and don t have experience with it but I ve checked Toshiba to THE support page and of course, this model is not supported for Win8. What you need are utilities and tools specific to Toshiba.

In my opinion, if the device is not fully supported you should go back to original Win7 and supported.
I put t know why you didn t follow the Toshiba s advice on the creation of recovery media. From my experience, that the recorded data are unnecessary, and you will not be able to start the recovery image installation.

What you need now is the recovery disk. Visit the Toshiba page if there is possibility to order a new. Otherwise contact the closest service Toshiba and ask if they can help you with this.
