Windows 8 and Labview FPGA 2013

I installed Labview 2013 including the suite of FPGA design on a host Windows 8 (x 64). I was surprised to see Windows 8 on supported OS list that I did not know until this day no further action taken design Xilinx support Windows 8.

But as a question of fact, that he did not long until I hit:

ERROR: Failure of Simulator: 861 - link design

following this tutorial by clicking the syntax check (using one of the files provided with the tutorial VHDL). The error is clearly linked to a lack of compatibility of Windows 8 from XIlinx running under Tools. Is there a known workaround solution? Thank you.

Unfortunately, you cannot compile the code on a Windows 8 FPGA Xilinx still not having this compatibility. The KnolwedgeBase article describes it. There is also a link in this article to another article that describes how to compile your code on a remote computer. This is the preferred method to compile when you have a Windows 8.

  • Drivers Xilinx/Multisim and Labview FPGA

Where can I find drivers for my FPGA OR if I use Multisim/Xilinx and NOT of Labview?  All the links I found are Labview be installed.  However, the explicit manual FPGA indicates that you can use Multisim/XIlinx ISE in place.

OK, I tested just outside. The Driver of LabVIEW 2013 DEFB contains 2 separate components, the driver and Module FPGA support. If you run this installer, it won't check if you have LabVIEW FPGA installed unless you check the box for LabVIEW FPGA support.

I can change the text in the Installation Instructions to read "LabVIEW FPGA 2013 is required to install the LabVIEW FPGA Module Support component installation".

  • NOR-Fieldpoint supported in Windows 7 and LabView 8.6

We have a 'classic' with an ethernet controller FieldPoint system. We want to be able to read/write from/to the FieldPoint network using a computer with LabView 8.6 and Windows 7. NOR-FieldPoint is supported in LabView 8.6 and Windows 7?

    Kind regards

    Nate

    Hi natewkidd,

I feel like some confusion between the operating systems running on a development computer (as Windows 7) and real-time operating systems that run on our real time (such as the PS-2000) controllers. I will do my best to clear up this confusion first answering your questions.

    (1) what is the difference between 2009 LabView real-time and LabView 2009?

LabVIEW Real-time 2009 is actually a software officially known as 2009 LabVIEW Real-time which is installed after the LabVIEW 2009 development software to allow the user to develop and deploy applications in real time on targets in real time as your PS-2000. You can consider the LabVIEW Real-time 2009 almost as a plug-in for LabVIEW 2009 deployment and development of real-time applications.

    (2) if I have a PS-2000 on the ethernet network and to use a computer that is running Windows 7 and LabView 2009 for record and display data, will I still be able to communicate with the network FieldPoint screws write FieldPoint to my Windows 7 computer?

If you go just to use the PS-2000 as a network module (NOT to deploy a real-time application to run on the PS 2000 itself), you should be able to communicate with him using just the read/write FieldPoint screw on your Windows 7 with LabVIEW 2009 machine and the driver NOR-FieldPoint 6.0.5. In this case, you actually do not need the Module Time since you do not deploy the application to the target in real time.

About the PS-2000 unsupported beyond LabVIEW 8.5.1, is because the controller's memory is not large enough to hold the software that is installed on the controller with LabVIEW 8.6.x Module real-time and LabVIEW Real-time Module 2009. For more information on this, you can check this knowledge base article.

I hope it's useful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Error-603 occurred While Building DLL under Windows XP and LabVIEW 8.6.1

    Problem:
I am creating a DLL in Windows XP and LabVIEW 8.6.1 and I get the error-603.

Error-603 to the DLL of the building.
A component required for the Application Builder does not support the required functionality. This could have been caused by an older version of LabVIEW installation after installing this version. To correct this problem, reinstall the latest version of LabVIEW.

    Possible reasons:

LabVIEW: Specified key or value does not exist.

I reinstalled my LabVIEW 8.6.1, but the problem still occurred.

What can I do to fix this?

Reinstall, which is suggested here too

  • What are the differences between LabVIEW and LabVIEW FPGA and LabVIEW RT

I need a comparison of LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, and LabVIEW RT

    Sorry, I misunderstood.

LabVIEW RT (LabVIEW Real-time) combines graphical LabVIEW of programming with the power of a real-time operating system, allowing you to create applications in real time.

  • problems with the project of example LabVIEW FPGA

I'm trying to adapt the example project record on CompactRIO and LabVIEW FPGA Waveform Acquisition for my hardware, but can't seem to do things. I'm just following the instructions in the tutorial, but can not make sense out of section adapt this example to your hardware project, in particular, the instruction to "Drag FPGA Main.vi in the Project Explorer in the Open FPGA VI service window reference VI." Can someone explain on what is supposed to happen here? BTW, the target hardware that I'm doing this work on is a cRIO-9068 with some C series i/o modules.

Finally, I came across the answer. For anyone else who may encounter this problem, the attached screenshot is worth a thousand words.

  • LabVIEW FPGA: Deploy fpga with host program

    Hello people,

I develop using a pxi-7831R (FPGA), 7.1 LabVIEW and Labview FPGA 1.1.0.  I wrote the fpga code and a host vi and they work well on my development computer.  However, I need to create an executable file and take it to my development computer to another computer (which also contains a pxi-7831R), and I don't know how to do it.

Then I just build an executable from my host program and place the 'bit' fpga file in the same folder as the exe and copy it to the target computer, or what I need to somehow add the bit file to my build configuration?

    Thanks for any help!

    Chris

    Hi chassan,.

In LabVIEW 8.x, the exe will offer the bitfile automatically.  I imagine it works similarly in LabVIEW 7, but it's probably best that manually regroup you the bitfile in your build options.

  • 8 64-bit Windows minimize and maximize Windows Windows

We have upgraded to Windows 8 64-bit and labview 12 64-bit here at work.

One of the programs that I wrote with an example that I found on the OR on board is no longer works.

We used to have windows XP 32-bit.

I used to be able to give a name of window such as Notepad (or any window of Windows) and I was able to minimize or maximize it as needed.

So once we have upgraded to Windows 8 and Labview 12 64 bit is no longer works.

Someone at - there an example I can look at who will work with Labview 12 64 bit?

    Thank you Rick.

I went into Windows 8 and adjust the properties of my program.

Now, he is running in compatibility mode with Windows XP.

    It works without any problem.

I guess that sometimes the simple answers are the best.

  • Zip file and iso LabVIEW FPGA Xilinx tools 12.4 Module is broken

I downloaded the two zip file of LabVIEW FPGA Module Xilinx tools 12.4 and iso image file three times to make sure that both files are broken and can not be installed!

The size of the file is so large about 3g. It would be better to double-check before you download on the Web site.

    -Very well,.

The download is complete and the standard Windows Extraction tool worked, WinRAR worked and 7Zip worked (and no, I don't know why, I installed all). I did download a wireless network that does not have direct access to our internal servers, it should therefore be a test valid. If the link I provided above was not that you used (probably isn't, because it is not an ISO option), could you please provide me with a link to the page that you used so that I can test and repair? In the meantime, the link above should work for you.

  • Report Generation Toolkit failure with Win 7 and Labview 2013

Recently, I had my computer updated to Windows 7 and now I see a problem with the generation of reports (version 2013) tool when you work with Excel files.  If I try to launch the new Report.vi with the selected report type Excel I get error-2146777998.  Do the same with the chosen word finally opens Word, even if it takes 10 seconds, but it does not generate an error.  Selection of Standard or HTML report also run without error.

I studied him this error on line, but I continue to find .NET and c# forums where everything goes over my head. Anyone have any suggestions?

I found the solution to this error 2146777998 code source. There are two template files located in C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\templates\Report by the name of MSOffice_RGT_Template.dot and MSOffice_RGT_Template.xlt.  The problem came down to these models been corrupted somehow in the new facility. As soon as I replaced the versions from another machine, the problem disappeared.

As a side note, I discovered the problem by kicking off the MS Office report Express vi and out came a much clearer message aimed me models. Not very well why this message is not included in the different Subvi on the pallet, but life is a mystery.

  • Simulate the sine wave using LabVIEW FPGA with NOR-myRIO and display in real time

    Hello

I'm relatively new to LabVIEW FPGA. I am trying to test (and later apply) controllers high speed on myRIO.

At this point, I'm trying to simulate the sine wave from 1 to 10 kHz using Sinewave generator VI express. I also intend to display the sine wave on the time real (RT) using FIFO. However, I had a bit of trouble to understaing various synchronization parameters.

    1. how to encode information about the sampling frequency generating sine wave? (The side FPGA vi requires only the frequency of the signal and possibly phase and does not rate update lines)

    2. how to estimate the number of items in a FIFO? (that is, the relationship between the rate of updates to loop (RT), the signal frequency, sampling frequency and the number of items in the FIFO)

It would be great if we could share a very simple program (side host and target) that did something similar.

    Thank you

    MILIN

    Milot,

I think the problem is the type of data in your FIFO. Your FIFO is configured to use a data type of I16. The problem is the number, it displays only ever will be-1, 0 or 1. To resolve this problem, you must send the sine wave as a fixed point data and convert it to a double on the side of the RT. This should significantly improve your resolution.

  • Problem with window painted and scrollbars when editing (LabVIEW 8.0.1)

I'm under LabVIEW 8.0.1 in Windows XP SP3.  For my main VI, I came across a strange problem about 5 months ago.  The front window - both in edit mode and run mode - arrested repaint itself on the right side which is no longer visible when you scroll from top to bottom, but also visible overlapping Windows.  Coinciding with the repaint problem, both bars scroll search disabled grey arrows and no boxes in the bars that you can click and drag to scroll the window.  The scroll bars work still partially if you pass the mouse over it and roll the mouse wheel but does not work by clicking and dragging.

The façade has a lot of controls and indicators, including containers of tab control and is greater in the horizontal directions and vertical so the two scroll bars must be active.  But I deleted everything in the Panel before and everything in the schema and the problem persists.  If the problem is not directly related to a control/led display.

I saved the simple VI to this problem (using a line of large text and a high box rounded to test), and then created a new VI and copied the two elements at the new VI.  This new VI didn't paint it and the problem of the scroll bar.  The two screws are slightly different in the memory usage and the revision number (bad is review 1785 and the good is revision 3), but otherwise the two screws are identical.  I have attached two screws at this announcement.  When you first open the bad VI, you will see the scroll bars disabled while the good VI has active scroll bars.  To replicate the repaint problem, scroll the window up and down with your mouse wheel.  If it's good when you first open the VI, click on another window, then click on the window of VI and try again the mouse wheel.  This by clicking sur-loin-and-return always causes the problem of repaint for me.  I tried the screw on two different computers, both running Windows XP SP3 and LabVIEW 8.0.1 with identical results.

Here's what I discovered simple troubleshooting with the screws:

    always off scroll bars

    * repaint the problem in the main window for larger then 680 pixels of window widths

    * repaint the problem in the menu bar of the main window for widths of more than 646 pixels

    * entire window becomes disabled than 1348 pixels window width

    * can paint window minimize and restore, but only repaints only once

    * scrollbar boxes sometimes flicker in the display, but then disappear

    * Scroll left and right hovering mouse over the bar and horizontal scroll by using the mouse wheel

I found something similar on this forum (thread: problem with refresh of façade)-it could be linked to the CAR on the Panel being offset internally.  I don't have access to LabVIEW 8.5 or later and do not plan to upgrade - I have not tried the trial version, as this user has done.  I could try to copy and paste my set of the block for a new VI diagram but the VI is so important I'm afraid something would break, plus I don't want to do it again in a few months.  The problem seemed to occur after a certain number of stops (or revision number).  I save copies of backup often and when the problem first happened, I was able to go to a previous version, make the missing changes and save it without any problem, but this only delayed the problem and he came later.  It is therefore perhaps the revision number.  It seems not related to a change or a particular addition in the front panel and the graph.

The attached picture shows the repaint problems and scroll bar in bad VI.

This raises a question I have - if this problem is a bug has been fixed in 8.5 and later, is it possible to apply bug fixes for older versions?  Or what I need to pay for an update fix these bugs?

Seems that something got corrupted with this VI. Things to copy on a cool VI and things should be OK.

See also this recent report of a similar problem.

  • LabVIEW FPGA and real-time communication module

    Hi all

I created a small program in labview FPGA which gets continually distance from the HC - SR04 ultrasonic sensor. The rest of the robot program is written in the time module real Labview. Is it possible that the distance calculated by FPGA module to read in time real module.

I used the FPGA just because there micro-deuxieme counter, which helps me get the distance from the ultrasonic sensor.

    Thanks in advance.

There are many ways this can be done, according to your needs.

See the help article transfer of data between the FPGA and host (Module FPGA) for a breakdown of each method.
