Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.msc/s '.

My laptop broke down. I had to restart from my CD. But I have a problem with connecting to an existing wireless network. When you try to configure the automatic configuration service, I followed the steps as suggested. 1. click on start, then run 2. In the box, type C:/Windows\system32\services.msc/s. After this point, a message board appears saying that "Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.msc/s'. Where can I get it?

Thank you very much.

Petra

Hello world

just to say that I finally discovered.

I tried setting advanced on my Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility and even if all my devices possible kept seeig my authetication as 'open' network, it was actually 'shared '. That's all. Stupid isn't. Now, I'm happy that I'm connected and without cable again.

A big thank you to you all and especially the PML for help.

    Method 1:

    Try to access the Windows Firewall configuration through the console Microsoft Management console.

    a. click on start
    b. type MMC (right-click and choose Run as administrator)
    c. click on file (in the upper right corner)
    d. click Add/Remove snap-in software component
    e. Select Windows Firewall with advanced settings, in Add Remove snap-ins windows

    When you click Defragment now for a player if you see a message like this:

    MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\system32\dfrg.msc.

    It is perhaps because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. Perhaps it is also because you don't have sufficient access to the file.

    Somehow (perhaps malware) the msxml3.dll file became unregistered, then re-register the file.

    Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    C://Windows/system32/conhost.exe
    C://Windows/system32/services.exe

    I was wondering what were these since the Conhost (which does not resemble a good name) appears more than once in the same thing.

    Is that a threat or not? I know that Norton detects a lot of things unnceisary and why it would just log the problem and not do something if it was a threat.

    Answers appreciated muchly

    * edit *.
    Im not sure if I did, it's clear there was no threat in the scan (other than cookies) not detected that came from the history of safety.

    Virus and malware usually do their best to hide behind innocent names. You would never find a virus with a name such as "virus.exe", for obvious reasons. So, it is quite reasonable to assume that 'conhost' does not relate to a con-job. As far as I know, it is called by the shell, and the "con" refers to the "Console".

    Hello

    Were there any changes (hardware or software) to the computer before the show?

    Put the computer to boot and see if it helps.

    To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Note: follow step 4 to reset the computer to start as usual after the boot process.

  • my files show that I'm missing windows\system32\dfg.msc

    When I try to defragment my system it says I'm mising windows\system32\dfg.msc

    The error message probably indicates that dfrg.msc is missing (you left the r).

    Do a search on your entire C drive to DFRG.msc

    Assuming that he is really gone, download on my SkyDrive, and put it in C:\Windows\system32.  Click on--> here
    Note that depending on which browser you use to download it, you can not see the MSC file extension in the list and when you download the file it also doesn't have the correct file extension.  If necessary, rename the dfrg.msc file when you save it.

    You can also defragment your drive by opening a command prompt window (start > run > cmd > OK) and typing

    Defrag.exe {press Enter}

    You must use the switches and parameters, as explained here--> http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/defrag.mspx?mfr=true

    For example:

    Defrag.exe C:/v {press Enter}

    Scan of Malware in Safe Mode with network.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-Windows-in-safe-mode/#Vista

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

    RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.
