    Hello houghmary,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Forums.

Since the recommended solution is to uninstall and reinstall your drivers and you have already done. We need back up the registry before you proceed to this possible solution.

Make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/322756/ how to back up and restore the registry in Windows

You can also create a manual system restore point so that you can restore in case of problems.
Creating a system manually restore point

    • Right-click on the computer icon in the desktop, then choose Properties
    • In the left pane, click System Protection
    • Alternatively, to directly access the System Protection tab, click Start and type SystemPropertiesProtection.exe.
    • If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    • Click the System Protection tab, and then click create.
    • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click create.

Note: Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk...

"Run REGEDIT, open the following folders:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SYSTEM
    CurrentControlSet
    Control
    Class
    {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

After you click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right side:
    "Upperfilters".
    'Lowerfilters '.

Click on each of them, press DELETE, and then click YES.

If please reply back and let us know if these measures have helped to solve your problem with your DVD or if you need further assistance.

    Thank you

  • Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH40F SCSI CdRom Device) because the driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Help, please! Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH40F SCSI CdRom Device) because the driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    Hello

Code 39 means that the driver is corrupted or missing.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Windows cannot load the drivers for the network device, Code 31

A few days ago, my computer was working very slow... I turned off twice and he turned his back.  The letters on the screen were enormous when windows restarts.  I turned off and did a diagnostic system before windows starts and everything was fine.  The computer is restarted my network cards were missing.  I get the error: this device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers for this device. (CODE 31).  (Module Aetheros 802.11 a/b/g/n dualband wireless network and Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller).

I have downloaded device drivers (windows could not find them on my system) using a laptop and copied computer on a disc.  I tried to install and I got an error message indicating that windows has failed.  I did a system restore to a point a few days before I started having problems.  Windows cannot successfully go back to the restore point.  I spoke with a technology computer and HP tech.  HP technology seems to think that windows is damaged and I need to remove and reinstall it on my computer.  I spoke with computer technology in my area, and he seems to think that my hard drive has failed, however I can still run photoshop and backup my system.

Does anyone have any ideas before I m computer local tech.  3 year warranty just expired February 1, 2011.  Don't you know.

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Reference Dell 3000 win xp family, sp 2 card its replacement will not install right.

I just reinstalled windows on my Dell computer and have struggled to reinstall the different divers, applications and programs that I used to have.  The long, everything went well, except for the audio part.

Windows Device Manager shows the icon replacement C-media with a yellow top warning label. Under "Properties", it shows this message: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)  Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I uninstalled and completely removed all traces of the drivers C-media, etc. of my computer, rebooted, reinstalled the driver C-media since the original CD (several times!), but the yellow warning label is always there!   When I ask to reinstall drivers C-media a notice tells me I have the best drivers now.

BTW, the audio worked perfectly in this machine until the windows reinstall so I am sure that the problem is not with the sound card, drivers or the installation CD.  Thanks for any help on this, jim

    Hi BarbaraWolfe,

There are many causes of Code 39 errors:

    • A required device driver is missing.
    • A required binary file is corrupted.
    • There is a problem with the file I/O process.
    • A driver that refers to an entry point in another binary file cannot load.
Re-install the driver by downloading it from the link given:

  • Add/Remove components error and DVD driver error: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Original title: Add/Remove components error and DVD driver error

Yesterday, I removed several components of windows to attempt to clean my cpu. After the reboot, I noticed that my DVD drive disappeared. I tried to update the driver but told me I have the most updated version, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drive, but I still get the same error. Under Driver Details, it shows that I have a lot of drivers for my Phillips DVD player. However, the status of the device is the following: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. I've done the troubleshooting, and the two options has not fixed the problem.

Then I tried to add windows components that I removed, thinking maybe that was the problem. However, when I try to add them, I get an error message that says: 'Setup cannot copy the file zClientm.ex_' it shows the location of this file as being in windows/i386, and of course, the file is located in this folder. So when I go to browse to locate the file, I find and click on it to open it, but I keep getting the same error message that the file is not found and Setup cannot continue.

I realize that this problem seems very rare and weird, but any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.
