Windows Media player CRASHES my computer soon after I put it in FULLSCREEN MODE

Island mouse will freeze, everything. I can't do cont-alt-del-nothing use it but a cold close and restart. I tried a DIFFICULTY IT 50685 MS for a similar sinario - in their senario, they could do cont-alt-delete. Whenever I try to watch in my event viwer to see the error - as no error appears on screen - but no luck.  I tried to find out if their was a recent update from MS done on my computer for WMP, but none - not to say that any other updated Windows might have messed up there because I've never had this prob before.  I've been in many forums, many people different OS w have the same prob, they NEVER get a resolution well. If I can't get a fix, I am looking for a free program that will PLAY WMV on Vista - I downloaded a lot - and they will not play and my Media Center don't re - sync audio properly if I pause/play. VLC, GOM, few others, did not.  I play downloaded files with DRM protection WMV - when I play a movie family-not DRM in fullscreen, the gel can't.  {BUT I've NEVER had this problem before with ANY movie fileI] have Vista Home SP2, Toshiba Satellite P205D, AMD Anthion, Dual core, 1 GB of memory, 90 GB of free, 32-bit.} and the graphics card ATI Radeon card - update of drivers. EHow suggested changes to the mode classic customization and uncheck the box, shadow under icons-no dice and stop video acceleration - my computer won't let me, but I went to the ATI Catalist platform and there was something allowing acceleration when playing WMV files, which I unchecked to see if he'll fix it, but it didn't. No simple solution possible, maybe the patch? I'm NOT a super tecky and do not reload my whole OS just to fix a shitty program. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How can I get music from my mp3 player in my Windows Media Player on my computer?

I'm just trying to get the songs on my mp3 player on my computer.  I was told I could use Windows Media Player to do this. How?

    What mp3 player?

Try this: plug in your mp3 player and when XP recognizes it open up Windows Explorer then Tools > file options > make sure Show Hidden Files etc. is checked. Your mp3 should theoretically appear in the roor on the left file pane. Then copy and paste to your PC/laptop

The above of course depends on which mp3 player you have. Some appear as a storage device to mass media (where you can see their "hard drive") but others don't.

    See you soon,.

  • Windows Media Player Album Cover Art disappeared after the installation of 11 Explorer (Windows 7)

A large part of my cover art of the album disappeared from Windows Media Player after installing Explorer 11 (using Windows 7). It's hundreds of albums and for art that was already present before installing Explorer 11. The number of albums is to manually replace the work a tedious task seriously.

It's the same thing with the installation of Explorer 10, but less than albums, so I learned to live with it. But it's now on a ridiculous on the part of the library.

Can someone tell me where the art is gone? And why?

If there is a way to replace it without doing a search for each album with missing art?

If she is still on my computer somewhere, but is no longer connected to the media player?

Where the cover of the album art in general is maintained? I can not even understand this, using my computer or go to my account to backup Carbonite.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Jamie...

Your album covers on album is in application data files and it will always be there. There is obviously a problem somewhere and it can be if you rebuild your library of wmp that the work will return. I guess you can still see the piece in the album files ok - Yes?

First of all if I should run the Fix It tool and the sfc scanner - after that restart your pc and see if anything has changed. (The scannow sfc tool will report if there are errors, it cannot fix)

Fix - download and run the tool for WMP (all problem areas)

    http://Support2.Microsoft.com/FixIt/?WA=wsignin1.0

sfc scannow - follow the instructions here.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

After making such a report and we will then rebuild your wmp library if necessary.

    Ric.

Afterthought - memory I got a screenshot of the cache of art, so here it is. It is also a "hidden" folder (you can tell by the gray look), that's why you don't find it easily!

    Hello

.AVI is a container file and the audio/video and now in which can be encoded with any codec available. Windows Media Player supports all of these default codecs. Therefore, a separate codec must be installed for this purpose. Trying to play with the existing code may crash the application.

Click on the link below and see if it helps.

  • Windows Media Player crashes

I have a Pavilion laptop dv7 (P/N VZ500PA #ABG) running Windows 7, and even if I was using Windows Media Play on this computer for 18 months without any problem, recently it started to freeze on me sporadically. When I open a folder I noticed that it takes a long time (more than normal along...) I'm guessing 20 seconds) to answer. When I play a file she also occasionally ignores, and it has nothing to do with an error in the file.

I'd be gratefule for any help that you could provide. Thank you in advance.

In case anyone cares, I gave up on Windows Media Player because although some of the solutions provided in this thread solved the problem temporarily, it would start eventually freeze up again. So I downloaded Winamp, which freezes if I try to use to play the CD (but not Windows Media Player) and works perfectly when I use it to play MP3s (where Windows Media Player does not work). Unhappy that he had to come to this, but it seems to be the most effective practical solution.

  • How to share Sony Micro Hi Fi to a wireless network on Windows media player on my computer

    Original title: Media Player

I am new on this forum and not particularly computer.

I spent most of today trying to get my new Sony Micro Hi Fi to a wireless network with my computer to listen to music from my hard drive.
I use Windows XP home and Windows Media Player 11.
I managed to make a connection between my computer and the Hi Fi, but the Hi FI maintains e-mail "No Server"
In Media Player, if I'm going to Library / Media Sharing icon CMT MX700... is displayed in the window but the 'Allow' button is not active, so I can't leave.
If I click on the 'Settings' button and go to this page, I have the box "allow computers and new devices automatically" checked.
I checked the router multicast TP Link setting is disabled. I tried disabling my Macafee firewall and also open the ports recommended for media sharing.
I was also in the it management services and value Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, HTTP SSL and automatic Plug-and-Play Auto Start Up.
    Can anyone offer advice?
    Thanks in advance
    Don

    Thanks for your advice.

I followed it and any other links I could think of, but never had the Windows Media Player to the network.
However I bypassed the problem with advice from the Sony Support by installing Serviio software that worked immediately.
  • Windows media player crashes when you start cd play

When I insert a CD in windows media player, screen freezes when cd starts playing and the sound is chopy.

    Hi RonnieDean,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. Are you experiencing a similar problem with a CD you are trying to play using Windows media player?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

See the link below and run the fixit tool available, check if it helps.

Solve the problems of Windows Media Player video and other media or library

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_media_player_diagnostic/

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you configure the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    1. Click Start , and then click run.
    2. Type msconfig , and then click OK.
The System Configuration utility dialog box appears.
    3. Click the general tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services , and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.
