Windows Server 2008 R2 does not vCPU additional 2

Hi all

I recently added 2 vCPU to my aforementioned 4 vCPU VM; the operating system is not the additional virtual CPU 2, but nothing of the vcpu is used (less than 1%) in ESXTOP.

Is this a known problem or is there a way for the s vCPU must be recognized in the operating system? The host is currently in eval mode so no problem license.

My host features:

Dell Poweredge T710

Processor Intel Xeon E5640 CPU @ 2.67GHZ

Sockets of Quad Core 2 processors

Help or direction would be appreciated!  Thank you!

Just to clarify, went you from 4 vCPUs to 6?  You use Standard Windows.  In my opinion, he has a physical limit of the CPU 4 and you can have the configuration of the VM with 6 virtual Sockets.  If this is the case, change the virtual number of sockets to 1 and the number of cores per socket 6.

When first pose the problem? Was it before or after the December updates?

KB3004394 and KB3024777 appear in view update history? Or do they appear in installed updates?

Gerry, thanks for your post. I have the same problem as Joachim started this thread. I am running Windows 7 sp1. I have a Dell computer and it's certainly a legitimate copy of Windows (confirmed computer 'properties' and it is enabled).

By your post, I saw just to update and the KB3004394 (installed on 12/10/2014) and KB3024777 (installed on 12/12/2014) show as comfortable. I usually leave the Windows download updates automatically and I install them to stop. I watched the second update and according to Microsoft.com:

Install KB3024777 to fix a problem with KB3004394 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

The KB 3004394 update which was dated December 10, 2014 can cause additional problems on computers that run Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. This includes the inability to install future updates. This new update is available to remove KB 3004394 from your computer.

My problem is, as of today 14/12/2014, I still get the pop up "this computer is running not windows genuine', even with KB3024777 installed.

    Any thoughts?

I made a few model of Windows Server 2008 R2 to our esx 4 update 1 hosts.

My isue is that these servers will not join the domain with the customization, I did. I know I use the right user (with appropriate rights) because I use the same user on other models.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Do I did wrong?

    Hi all

If you guys have tried to enter the area do not use the NetBIOS name? In other words... Please try entering the domain FULL of the domain name.

Also make sure that the connection is entered with the UPN and not the pre-Windows 2000 format, in other words: username@FQDN instead of user domain\username

I am installing an Officejet Pro 8500 has more on a network that contains just a Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit) computer and a bunch of zero clients.  I read the document "installation of the software of the printer on Windows Server 2003 or 2008" including the updated title hope in my heart.  Unfortunately when I followed the instructions to install from a. MSI file, I get an error message saying "this computer's operating system is not supported", as can be seen in

I am able to print to this device I have widower of drivers from Microsoft Update, but I want to be able to scan with it.

I solved this problem by installing the complete package on a Vista laptop then set up a network folder on the server for the scanned images.  I then unplugged the laptop from the LAN and now I can scan using the front panel of the printer/scanner and images appear on the shared folder of Server 2008.

  • Windows Server Update service does not work after the installation of KB2720211

I have a Server 2008 SP1 32-bit Standard, which had the role of Server Update for the Windows software installed connected to a WSUS upstream server and everything worked, with 17 clients connected to him and get everything their approved patches.  It was a new server starting with WSUS added at this time 1 months ago.  He had to be upgraded to SP2 S2008 which I did and WSUS have continued to function.  After being on SP2, there was another 152 patches to be applied and after that WSUS does not work anymore.  It appears 1 patch that has been applied has been KB2720211 that seems to cause problems for a number of people.

The problem is that the update service does not start.  An error message comes back that the service has not responded in a timely fashion and I can't find the log files anywhere on what it is.  Here is what has been done so far all that in the same issue:

1 deleted WSUS and restarted and installed it again.

2 Remove WSUS and Windows Internal Database, restarted and installed it again (using the download of KB972466).

2.1 install SQL Management Studio and logged to an internal database SUSDB and checked it is not set to single user (I believe it is set for multiuser name but I'm going from memory)

    3. install the KB2720211.

    4. installation KB2734608

5 remove WSUS and Windows Internal Database, restarted and installed it again (using the download of KB972466).

I am looking for any information on how to solve what is the question, because there is nothing in the log files I can find and no event in the windows event viewer.  I am ready to start with the server however if there is something I can look at to possibly solve the problem, please let me know.

  • Only windows server DHCP 2012 does not accept windows 7 Starter ip addresses?

I want to connect to my PC for wifi, administrators have installed windows server 2012 for the administration of wifi network, they claim that it will not get connected to wifi because I have windows 7 starter edition

Your question is absurd that there is no distinction between an address IP of Windows 7 Starter.  The DHCP server, they can be configured in different ways, but at its core (no change) he will present IPs to any device that requires correctly and a system functioning and correctly configured Windows 7 Starter would not have a malformed request especially when talking to a Windows Server.

So as I said before, they do not want you BYOD.  * fault *.

Windows 7 Starter system in good condition is more than able to get an IP address from any properly configured and nice DHCP server.  I assume that the server is properly configured, just not nice or the workstation is not healthy.

In other words, you're them, misquoting their incomprehension or they tell you the easiest thing without just said, 'No' or there's something else wrong with your system and that they have no desire to fix it for you, or they should not run such things.

The simple fact is that Windows 7 Starter is not innate difficulty communicating with a server DHCP R2 open and properly configured windows server 2012 or 2012 in order to get an IP address for itself; now (the server might would be) well assured in several ways but and the Windows 7 Starter system could have all sorts of questions...

  • Unable to connect to the server under any account except in safe mode - Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard.

My Windows Server 2008 R2 does not all connect directly to the server - level of the console or via the desktop remotely.  The symptom is that Active Directory is not running.  I tried to connect computers MacBook with OS X (10.5) to active directory.  I can log on to your desktop and see all the network shares, so all users seem to work OK - performance is slower than usual.  Logging indicates the user ID or password is not valid, but they are working on the jobs or when we book in safe mode.  DCDiag does not work because it cannot log in with credentials.

  • Hard drives not found when you try to install Windows Server 2008

    Hey guys and girls,

I've spent the last 20 hours, trying to solve the problem of not being able to install windows server 2008 r2 on a new Dell server.

    My configuration is:

    Dell PowerEdge R310

    4 x 1 TB 7.2 K SATA HDD

    Controller Raid PERC H700

I can't even install the drivers that I downloaded from the Dell support site because Windows Server 2008 Setup will not recognize them.  These factors include the Raid Controller, chipsets Intel, SATA etc.

I used the settings default, all changed the Auto Off Ports and vica versa, I put the server in Raid and ATA mode with all the possibilities, but it will be will not detect any HD!

Please help, as it is essential for my health, employment and mental health.

    Best regards

    Sami L.

What OS?  What RAID controller?  How many discs?  The size?  RAID level?

I can't assume that everything is the same, especially when you have a different system altogether which does not support the H700 (so the files would have been meaningless even if Dell had not broken links). :)

  • Windows Update will not install the hotfix on Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 KB3122648

    Hello

I tried several times to install "MS16-019: Description of the update of security for .NET Framework 3.5.1 in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1" on a Windows Server 2008 R2, running Service Pack 1

Windows Update has always ends with 'Failure' / has encountered an unknown error. Code 80073712

The convenience store has not solved it either.

The server is not really exposed to 'outside' as such, runs in a local network, regular, small; but sometimes, a web browser may be in use.

Is there anything that can / should be done here to remedy the failure of the installation? Or free time and even not to worry about this?

It would be great to have a few strong indications here. Thank you!
