WLan connected to the Satellite U400 PSU40C but no data flow

Hey guys,.

Hope you can help me with a problem I have with the wireless to my new laptop. I bought a Toshiba U400 PSU40C-08U01C.

It came pre-installed with Windows Vista. Everything worked fine out of the box, wireless/Wired internet.
I really didn't want to run Vista, so I formatted the hard drive and installed a new installation of patches to update w / all WinXP to SP2 (haven't tried the SP3).
I managed to install most of the material on the laptop, all drivers worked well.

Wired connection worked flawlessly - Marvell Yukon network card.
However, I came across a problem with wireless connectivity. The map has proved to be an Atheros AR9281-AL1E (discovered that by running Everest Home, held a diagnosis on the machine).

I found no drivers on Toshiba Canada site, since they are all INTEL drivers and do not work to install the drivers for the network card. I was able to google and get drivers for model AR9281 wireless. After installing, everything seemed to be good.

The WLAN had no problem installing with this driver, I used windows to manage the wireless. I connected to my network w/WPA wireless security. He got a good IP and default gateway appropriate... but NONE GIVEN don't FLOW! Couldn't BACK out ping, was not able to surf. Could not access the home network, could not connect to the router. I know that's not the router, since I went back to cable on the laptop - worked well. Also the without wire is good, because I have two other laptops running smoothly.
He was also a clean install so no security except for windows firewall software that has been disabled.

Someone at - it had a problem similar to this? I will return to the Vista installation with the recovery disk and see if I can somehow find out what drivers he used to install the WLAN network card. If I can't get this to work, I can also install Ubuntu and try installing the WLAN network card it and see if I have some luck. Hoping someone can offer other things I could try.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

It's really a good idea to install the recovery image again to see if the wireless card is working properly. Please post the result.

  • Impossible to establish a wireless connection on the Satellite

    Hi all

I am desperate because I implemented an env wireless in my house, and all my machines work fine except the toshiba one.

In fact I see the network wireless only in Intel tools, then I click the button connect and get connected a second and the GET disconnected (but wireless is always visible from the laptop.

Where do you think the problem?
Router wireless card or the problem is in the toshiba.

Note that I'm able to make the system operational wireless on another without any problem.

Thank you for your quick feedback on this issue.
    Best regards.

    Hello

Not easy to say what could be wrong or what might help.
    You must see this:

-> try to update the WLan card driver
-> check the WLan card driver and advanced properties tab more you could disable option economic power.
-> try to use own windows Wlan connectivity
-> disable the encryption on the router and try to connect without any security option.

  • Slow WLAN connect to the router - Satellite Pro A200

I have a Satellite Pro A200 - after starting the laptop she used to find the router wireless in good time, but now it seems to have slowed on the right and it may take a few minutes until 1/2 hour phone to find the router!

This doesn't seem to be a signal problem because when the router is found that I get a signal strength full 5 bars. Connection to the laptop the router with a cable shows that no problem also that the connection and internet access is no problem.

I do not understand why the laptop won't find the router faster and you would appreciate the help in the understanding of the problem and how to resolve the situation.

I don't have a lot of technical knowledge so please keep in mind when replying

    Hi Potter (maybe Harry?)  ;)

You can easily find what WiFi card has been installed in your laptop.
More details can be found in the *-> network adapters Device Manager *.
Check this out and you'll know what driver WLan is required!

_Regarding the question with your BIOS; _
This error is known to me, always happens if you n t unpack the BIOS package correctly!

What you need is a WinRAR or WinZip program.
I prefer WinRAR and it helps to unpack all of the BIOS update.

    If you use the Vista operating system please check that another thread of forum on the same issue;

  • No instant Wlan connection at the start of the Satellite L650

    Hello

I had connection problems with my Toshiba L650 during the past two months.

I bought my laptop about a year ago (October 2010), and everything worked perfectly until April 2011.
The first months, my computer will automatically connect to the internet once it starts.

From April 2011, my computer takes about 2 minutes to connect to a wireless internet connection when I start it, either my home connection or connection.
Once it does not connect, wireless works perfectly.

The problem is not a wireless router because it happens with all wireless connections. Also, I tried to update the drivers for the network card wireless (Broadcom 802.11n) no success at all.

I would be grateful if someone could provide possible solutions to the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

So, what exactly is the problem?
The WiFi network connects well, but it takes two minutes until the connection has been established?
    Right?

Well, it might be possible that something is running in the background of the BONE and so it takes a while until the laptop been able to connect to the Wlan.

In my case, the laptop needs time to connect to the Wlan because the virus scanner and CCleaner run at startup and scans the HARD disk and the system.
After that, the laptop connects to the Wlan.

  • Power light is on when the Satellite U400/T5800 is off - is this normal?

We have a Satellite U400 T5800/new, just bought yesterday and have completed the configuration of the software.
Everything seems to work very well.

However, I noticed that the orange power LED is turned on (solid, and not not not flashing), even when the laptop is off and there is no connected AC.
I couldn't find an explanation in the manuals or online. This behavior is normal?

Normally, I would expect a laptop can be completely powered down - is it normal for the LED light to be even on (continuously when laptop is turned off).

When the laptop is turned on, the light turns white as expected.

    Thank you

    Hello

I have a Satellite U400 too and if I close my laptop and unplug the AC adaptor all lights are off.
Are you sure you did stop your laptop and not hibernate or stand-by? Check it!

You can try to update the BIOS. Check the Toshiba site for an update.

I still need help: 11-24-10' uncorrected problem after all

I have a laptop of refurbished HP older Pavilion ze5385US who has recently lost the wireless connection.  Now, I have to leave it plugged in to use, not practical at all.  I did the right click on the icon to open the network connections, left clicked wireless network connections and then clicked "repair this connection.  The uninstaslled of the computer, and then was not able to reinstall.  When I checked D, it was empty.  I thought it was where restoration stuff should have been.  So I downloaded and reinstalled much Express IEEE 802.11 PCI card Lan, until I found the one that the computer would be except.  Now, it appears in device very good Manager, but has theyellow cone with! on the icon in the status bar at the bottom.  When I raised it lights, it is said: 13 of (ANY) wireless network connection, speed: 11.0 Mbps, Signal strength: Excellent, status: limited or no connectivity.  When I choose "View available wireless networks", I get "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection.  Under network without wire/support/details of connections, Iget physical address: 00-02-8A-92-BE-0C, IP address: 169.254.196.112 subnet mask: 255.255.0.0, then the default gateway, DNS server, WINS server & have not enumerated values. I'm afraid to hit the repair again, it could wipe out the only map I've found so far that is accepted by my computer.  When I try to enter the knowledge base for WinXP, I get an error for this page, as well as several other help pages I tried the site of microsoft.com for help.  When I used configurationtool thewireless zero in respect of services & restart earlier, I had a red X on my icon, so I guess I've lost my card after all.  Can I disable this?  The map always shows as OK in Device Manager.  Any ideas anyone?  I need help here please.

    Hello

I thank you and wish you the same.

I see that your problem has been solved using the HP driver that you mentioned on Thursday, November 18 in your message and the Express.sys is a problem with Windows install.

I suggest to install the version of Windows install 4.5 on the system from the link below and then update the driver from the link that was attached to your question before and check.

    Step 1:

    Install windows install 4.5

    Windows install 4.5 Redistributable

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

    Step 2:

Update the driver from the link you mentioned in your previous post.

I suggest you to check with TP-link if this model is compatible with Windows XP or not.

  • I am not able to connect to the main wifi network but can connect to the network of comments.

    Hello

This is something new, I am facing to where I am not able to connect to a main network of airport extreme, but can connect to the network of comments. Guest network works perfectly fine while the main network does not connect to devices in the home. I also found that none of my base stations are visible in the airport utility (I Airpot extreme and Airport Express on the same network). Help, please.

The first step in troubleshooting with this type of problem is to perform a complete network power cycle on your network. If you decide to do...

Power off all the devices on your network... modem, routers, computers, printers, etc... in any order you want.

    Wait a minute

Turn on the modem first and leave a few minutes, he managed by itself

Turn on the next device that is connected to a modem and leaves turn a good minute

Keep turn on devices one by one at a time, one minute apart, until the entire network is back

Recheck the network and report on your results

What do you mean by Wlan is not detected?

As far as I know it is an Intel WLan card and the Intel Toshiba Portal WLan WLan driver should work.

  • WRT54G v4 works PC connected to the router... but not of wireless signal

The subject says it all.  A few things before this.  One is that we did pass the router in another room.  But things has worked well for a few days after that.  Before just what is happening, I used my phone inter-tel (plugged into the router).  PC and phone continue to have access to the internet... as I say, wireless in the House.  Fact stop and start all.  All unplugged / plugged in.

Updated the firmware and it did nothing.  Some would like to help.

After an update of the firmware, you must reset the default router, and then configure the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last update of the firmware, please do it now and see if it solves your problem.  If you have saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

To reset the router press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

    Hi RichardDougherty,

You can safely ignore the Red "X" on the connection icon that indicates that the network adapter is disconnected.

    See the following article:
