Worth an another 2 GB of RAM?

So it's my turn to ask you if I should move my RAM from 1 to 3 GB (maximum supported memory on T60). I use Windows XP and Linux and am just curious as to whether it would be desirable to upgrade to the / 3GB max or rather to install another 1 GB module.

My use is Photoshop, Acrobat. Surfing with several tabs open, Linux with some applications. It is more the boost I'm after. So any advice is welcome.

See you soon

Chris

Add more memory can not hurt.   PC2-5300 SODIMM become cheaper then you might as well go for a 2 GB module immediately.

32-bit photoshop can use up to about 1.8 GB of memory system.   the other 1 GB will be used by windows to have 3 GB total will give you an 'ideal' configuration for a 32-bit environment of photoshop.

  • Kernel Panic #2 and another batch of bad RAM?

OKAY this is getting annoying. A few days ago, I posted about a previous kernel panic and if it linked to the bad RAM.

My question has been answered by Illaass and Grant Bennet-Alder, the culprit in my kernel panic was bad RAM as Illaass noted

The expression '6 banks to report errors' panic report almost always means bad RAM.

The key is to several banks of error reports.

Also the phrase "Machine Check" usually means a hardware problem

I got the replacement RAM this morning and installed, the system showed as having 12 GB for about two hours. I got a Kernel Panic OTHER then when I rebooted my machine showed as having 8 GB of RAM once again, the two new modules have been installed would not be saved. -I opened the side of my machine to instept memory, I was surpised to find the error LED on one of the DIMMs I had installed just a few hours before.

I have therefore three options in front of me.

    1. I received a second faulty module in the modules that I replaced, but what is the probability that I would get two modules of the 'bad' like this.

    2. the second is of course the DIMM location on riser from the Mac Pro RAM "kills" any module installed in it. (I don't know what is the probability of this)

So I contacted the dealer that I bought the memory with a few basic troubleshooting I've been able to identify the faulty module and remove (and the other 'good' module of my system), with the deleted modules my system boots and behaves correctly, with replacement modules in my system boots (slower than normal) and new modules do not even register System Profiler , they show that slots "empty."

I took my machine to my local provider of Apple and asked their opinion, they said that it is very unlikely that the slot is the question and I just received two faulty memory sticks.

I contacted the retailer and they will send me another one module replacement, but I don't know what the probability of exactly the same thing repeats again and again.

I also have the details of my second kernel panic which I attach to this message in a minute, I'm open to suggestions as to what can happen.

I just bought the HP 15-g049AU and I'm having some confusion I wanted to delete. I want to know if I can add another 4 GB RAM memory to my HP 15-g049AU. And, if I can replace my HARD drive with another 256 GB SSD hard drive.

If it can happen then, HP service centers will be will install them for me.  I want to say, if I buy the RAM and SSD and take my laptop to a service center, then they will help me. If they do, then what will be the price to get this?

Your laptop supports a maximum of 8 GB. There is a single soDIMM memory slot that is available to the guests.

You can replace the hard drive of spinner legacy with a 256 GB SSD. I highly recommend the upgrade by using the method of cloning with a sata to usb cable. You can make an image recovery factory with the usb recovery media that you have created now.

HP Service Centers do not perform the upgrade work. You wil perform have the upgrade on your own or pay a shop laptop to do it for you.

I thought I could just use the 8 GB of ram I have (a stick) and then install a more accurate memory stick live, for a total of 16 GB. Fix?  As I said, if you can be sure that the new 8 GB stick of memory is compatible with the existing 8 GB, then it is not a problem.  Just make sure that they are compatible, or you've lost your money.

    1. this laptop model does support up to 8 GB or 6 GB of RAM as it is 32-bit. A 32-bit OS supports up to 3.25 GB of physical RAM installed. Your laptop supports up to 8 GB, but if installed the OS installed alone will see @3.25 f.

If you want to use more RAM, then you will need to install a 64-bit operating system. It's not worth spending money on more RAM if your operating system is unable to use it.

    Hello

Just FYI: this device can handle with max 2 GB of RAM and the compatible and tested modules memory vivid are DDR2-533 512 MB (PA3412U - 2 M 51) and DDR2-533 1 GB (PA3411U-2M1G).

If your device has 512 MB of RAM, I recommend you to put another 1 GB of RAM and I think that the device will work like crazy. ;)

  • Problem upgrading RAM on old Satellite 4600

    Hi guys

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have an old Satellite 4600 (not sure what series that is!). It has 128 MB of RAM. I added an another 128 MB of RAM, but it records still only 128 meg. I spent the round modules, always only 128 MEG. I tried even to each module right in the slot A, and then just to location B. Whenever he recorded 128 Meg, so I know that the two slots are working and two modules work, but it will not record together as 256!

I checked in the BIOS and only 128 in there too. Help, please
    Thank you

    PA3004U - 1 M 06 64 MB MEMORY KIT
    PA3005U - 1 M 12 128 MB MEMORY KIT

  • Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC0E) does not start after upgrading RAM

    Hello

I hope someone can help me here, I recently bought a Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC0E) and decided to upgrade the RAM. I bought a stick of 512 MB of curries with the following specifications: DDR PC2700 200-pin 333 Mhz SODIMM (64 x 64).

However, the first problem I encountered was an alignment problem. A little effort and handling solved this, but after you insert the RAM into the available slot, the computer laptop wouldn't boot, and instead, I had the flashing sequence on the LED from 2,3,3.

I was told it might be a problem matching, then tried to remove the original RAM and booting with just the new stick, still the same error. I tried it in the slots and still no joy. It starts very well with the original 256 MB of RAM, but refuses to take the new RAM.

Are there any known issues? Can anyone suggest something that I can do wrong? I followed the usual steps of upgrade to remove all power cables and the battery before the upgrade, but still no joy.

Hoping that someone is able to help!

    Hi James

You simply have bad memory modules and is not a compatible uses.

    > the first problem I encountered was an alignment problem. A little effort and handling solved this,

This should not happen! The right modules can be inserted without any problem of alignment!
    Handling can damage the module!

In my opinion, you should use another and supported the RAM module.

To my knowledge, you can use the PA3512U-1M1G (DDR2-667 1 GB Memory Kit) or (PA3411U-2M1G) DDR2-533 1 GB
    The two should be compatible.

I have trouble about an upgrade of RAM for this laptop. The laptop was originally a Samsung 512 MB of RAM.
I tried to upgrade the RAM to its maximum capaity supported 2 GB.
I bought and installed 2 Kingstone SODIMM 1 GB Value Ram DDR2 PC2 4300 units compatible with the laptop, but

in the BIOS, I see only 1 GB of RAM.
I tested each RAM separately and they work very well. The problem is that when I install in my

locations of the laptop, my BIOS sees no Ram.Instead 2 GB 2 GB, it shows only 1 GB. I updated my BIOS for more later

version 1.70 (for XP), but the laptop continues to show only 1 GB.

    I tested the RAM separately:
-inserted only 1 stick in the drive and the pc started ok showing 1 GB of RAM
-then I inserted the same stick in another location and it also worked well showing 1 GB of RAM
    - then I checked another unit of the RAM in the same way and worked well
-When I try to put 1 GB of Ram and the old 512 MB RAm the BIOS correctly showed the new value of 1.5 GB
-i also checked the other 1 GB of ram and the old 512 MB of ram and showed good again in the Bios with the value of 1.5 GB
    - but when I tried to put the 2 ram set units to obtain the BIOS only detected 1 GB 2 GB.

Here's the description detailed 1 GB modules that I try to install:

I think the problem is that the two s of RAM are not compatible, but it is not explained to me because use you two identical modules.

In your case I return the RAM to the computer dealer and say the modules work together in your notebook, but your laptop definitely supports 2 GB of RAM.

I think that there is no other way because you have updated your BIOS to the latest version.
Here is the part number for RAM Toshiba compatible:
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Satellite L30-113 does not recognize the two modules DIMM RAM

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite L30 113.
It has 512 MB of RAM and therefore struggled to run Windows Vista, so I bought another 1 GB of RAM.
    It's DDR2 553 MHZ (PC4200.

The problem I have is that the laptop does not recognize both DIMMs, i.e. the old 512 MB and the new 1 GB when they are in the whole PC. I tried the two DIMM individually in both slots and there is no problem, but when I install both the system sees just 1 GB. I tried the DIMMs around two ways but without success.

    Did I miss something?
They should be the same size as in the bad old days?
    What is going on?

    Thank you

    Adam

    > I tried the two DIMM individually in both slots and there is no problem, but when I install both the system sees just 1 GB
Seems that the two RAM modules are not completely compatible...
I've read several times on these issues and to be honest it s are not uncommon

I advise you to buy two identical RAM modules ad then to try again

I'm afraid there is no other solution for your problem of m.

  • Is it useful to 512 MB of RAM to 2 GB - Equium L20

I Equium L20-198 that have Intel Celeron M 370 / 1 Mb L2 cache and 512 RAM. I was wondering is it worth to upgrade to 2 GB RAM to increase performance in 3D using programs such as Max and Auto CAD 3D with this Celeron processor?

This update is going to be effective in terms of operation of the system faster?

For upgrade of RAM is without any reasonable doubt, and with more RAM your laptop will work much better and faster. I use all the apps but with 2 GB of RAM, working with these applications will be much better. The tools everything you need for the operations of the 3D and calculation skills will run much faster than before.
