  • WRT54G v6.0 will not change settings

I have a WRT54G and an E2000; I decided to use the first to manage my iPod Touch and the second to manage my TiVo (in the 5 GHz band) and other traffic Wireless N.

I set up my computers with static IP addresses for the E2000: 192.168.0.xxx and all of the WRT54G IP 192.168.0.2. (The E2000 is 192.168.0.1). I can communicate with both routers and can access the configuration of each page.

The problem is that most of the settings on the web client of the WRT54G is not editable. For example, when I try to change the configuration dropdown: Basic Setup: Internet the Type to 'Automatic Configuration' connection - DHCP to "Static IP", the page pops up and it restores "Automatic Configuration - DHCP".

Similarly, wireless security: wirelesssecurity is set to "off." I can't change it to one of the WEP, WPA and WPA2. It always bounces to 'off '.

I have the latest version of the installed firmware (v 1.02.8). Is it possible that I can do my WRT54G Router accept my settings? some

There may be a setting in firefox that will not allow it, or there is an add-on block.

In any case, please click 'Accept as Solution' on the post that solved the problem so whenever someone is the same thing, they know what to do next. Thank you!

  • WRT54GS V4 suddenly changed network name

I've had this work of router for about 2 years now and there are several weeks, he began to stop recording automatically. Today, she totally disappeared from the list available wireless. I recycled the power several times, and now he's back with a brand new SSID. It is the available network only. on the list. One of the times I have to motor off / market, Cisco light blinked at a very fast pace with a white light instead. When I checked for available networks, he has appeared as an unsecured network for several minutes before the light changes its normal color. The WLAN led is green, and I'll send it through the router with a cable. The DMZ light is off. The power light is on.

When I run the Net set utility, I get a message that the router cannot connect to the internet, which is wrong, because I could of course send you this message.

    What's up with the router?

    Thank you

    Steve

For WEP, enter the WEP "key 1" (found in the router) in your computer, not the WEP password or the passphrase.

  • WRT54GS - problem with changing the router IP

Here's my problem: I want to change the IP Address of the router (and subnet) to 192.168.1.1 to (for example) 192.168.28.1 (long story).  I can do it on the base of the router configuration page.

I have a desktop with a fixed address configuration: 192.168.28.90, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, default gateway and preferred DNS server: 192.168.28.1.  Three laptops get dhcp addresses.

Access to Internet is fine, but local communications on the local network no longer work: shared folders are not accessible, and I can not ping to one local PC to another. (But I can ping anything on the web)

When I'm back at 192.168.1.1 all is well again.

Someone at - it includes what is the problem?

    Thank you.

It is most likely a problem of computer software firewall.

To resolve the issue, reset the router to 192.168.28.1, then power cycle your network, verify that your Internet connection works on all computers.  Then go into the computer on each computer software firewall and set it to "trust", other computers on your network.

  • Change Wireless Router WRT54GS to a new PC

I just bought a new PC and would like to transfer the router to the new. What is the best way to do it? I have to reset the router, I have tried to install the router on the new PC (with CD) and received an error that it is reading my old one (the same).

    Thank you

    JC

You don't have to change anything on the router. You don't need the CD of configuration that came with the router.

Wire your PC for the WRT and that's it.

If you want to connect wireless and then find your network and you connect. Enter your password and everything is ready.

  • Add WRT54G: second router / access point, unable to get to the outside network.

    Here is the prob:

We just got cable internet the other day and the cable operator insisted on using their v1000 Belkin F5D7234-4 instead of my WRT54G V8. So I thought I'd use the WRT54G as a second router/AP (without wireless/LAN/WAN). I was eager to do this by running an ethernet in the WAN on the WRT54G port and plug it into the port of the client on the Belkin, place the wrt - 54 G at the other end of the House and have the WRT54G broadcasting the same SSID and require authentication even as the Belkin and use the Belkin to Linksys Wireless Bridge. In this way, it will extend my wireless network and all computers can access the internet and the other (wireline customers will keep at wire-speed, wireless is not authicate to two different networks.)

I can't get the Linksys network based able to see all the other computers outside the WRT - 54 G, even for wireless clients. On the side of things Belkin network, I can't ping the router even if she pulls a DHCP in the Belkin address. All customers the Belkin side can meet and thin internet. I've fiddled with the WRT54-g for almost an entire weekend now with no result. The WRT54G can see the other router as a DNS as well as external DNS providers, but none of the client computers can. Basically, I'm wanting to extend the network of Belkin 4 as most cable customers and fill a few dead wireless, and make the visible computer on the same network of suggestions?

    Parameters of WRT - 54G:

    Automatic configuration - DHCP

    Same domain name like Belkin
IP router set a tire to the DHCP server

    DHCPserver OFF

    Mode of operation: router

    Safe are disabled.

Wireless SSID is the same as Belkin

Wireless channel is the same as belkin.

Method and auth. key is the same as belkin.

    Belkin:

    DHCP is on.

    15 IP addresses available.

Wireless gateway is on with the WRT54G Wireless MAC address information.

    Ethernet cords are connected.

I played with static routes for hours, tried the option routing dynamic, even tried DMZing of the WRT54G intellectual property in the belkin and still unable to connect to the internet. Tried the Belkin MAC address cloning. Nothing seems to work. When I plug the WRT - 54G directly in my digital/Modem/phone cable box, I get internet and everything. I'm at the point of throwing same DD - WRT on it.

But beyond connection "wireless" I discovered really does not work if well (drops random wireless speeds seize up) with two different pieces of equipment running two different firmwares. So the thing connecting wireless set was out the window.

I however knew what I had to do Linksys firmware:

    1.) DHCP clients forward.

    Customers of Belkin - network

    Linksys customers - network B

The dhcp pool was not get transferred to the client computers. That is the 1-2 on network computer had XXX. XXX.100 - 102 for 3-4 computers on network B was YYY. YYY. YYY statically set by Windows. Even after changing to a static address on the network A dhcp scope I could still connect to the internet or to one of the computers on the network.

The static routing table seemed not lead me anywhere either, and I've tried dozens of configurations.

The way I got it Setup is with the customer enthernet of the Belkin ROUTER to THE Internet on the Linksys WRT54G port 1-4. Maybe I should have plugged the ethernet on the client side of 4 ports Linksys?

Anyway DD - WRT redirect DCHP feature was what I need.

Regarding the scenario wireless two routers have the same encryption method and key but different channels and ssid. Who, with DD - WRT for some reason when I jump on the wireless-B, Vista will be ID it as network A (B).

I hope that it has not violated anything except the guarantee which was anyway. The reason for which I needed for my network up this way is because I do a lot of work using VM (of various operating systems), is simply easier to have two separate semi networks. (to different physical locations in the House)

  • AE1000, WRT120N and WRT54G

    Hiya,

I have my WRT54G configured as an Access Point G/B with the WRT120N as the router and intended to be wireless N only for one couple of other computers that support theoretically superior performance...  The WRT54G manages all my G devices (TiVo, a couple of iPhones, a netbook adapter) with no problems.  The adapter AE1000N and the WRT120N, however, cannot connect unless I have change the N Router only Mixed, how they right hook to the top...  I would like to have suggestions to make the WRT120N-AE1000N combo to work together in wireless-N mode. (Windows 7 Pro.)  Thank you!

    Tim

What is the wireless settings you have set up on your router (SSID, channel, Security Mode)? Try changing the channel wireless on your router to 1 or 11 and then try to connect to your wireless network.

  • WRT54G windows 7 without Internet

    Firmware v1.1 4.21.1

    Hello

General information... as a short but detailed as possible

I have the wired connections that follows:

    Desktop PC (Windows7)

    Bedroom PC (XP)

    Printer

    PS3

    wireless connections:

    Room 2 PC (XP)

    Laptop (XP)

I had all this running smoothly across the router from W7 is released and installed on the desktop computer.

Yesterday, our internet lost space through our cable provider. Came back on today, but here's where the problems start.

I confirmed service service providers is back upward by connecting the modem directly to the desktop. Everything is ok.

I then tried to connect through the router WRT54G, but W7 tells me that I have no internet access. I can connect to 192.168.1.1 OK, but on the status page, it shows me the following:

    IP address: 0.0.0.0

    Subnet mask: 0.0.0.0

    Default gateway: 0.0.0.0

None of the list of the DNS 1, 2 or 3.

Troubleshooting network in W7 I said the "DNS server not responding".

Trying to do a ping test 192.168.1.1 in the Administration tab says "network is unreachable".

The local DHCP Active IP network Table / status shows my DT 192.168.1.100 but agin not able Ping this address, again "network is unreachable".

I tried options DHCP Release and rescued, but nothing changes.

My next step was to reflash the firmware and power cycle the router but still no change.

This is so, I can't access the internet through the router (only directly from the modem to the PC) so I get a lot of grief for children who want to play the PS3, but more important still, I can't online from my workstation in the bedroom. I would be surprised if the router is dead despite his age, because I can access the page to admin without problem.

Any ideas on what I can do to get everything working again.

    THX

    Update

Two power cycles later and all work again. Don't know why, but hayho.

    Now reset your router:
Press and hold the button of reset for 30 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...
Also, make sure that your computer is configured to obtain an IP automatically, disable any firewall, the security software on the computer before you try to access the configuration page...

If your Internet Service is cable follow this link

If your Internet Service is DSL follow this link

Also on the security of the router tab, uncheck block anonymous Internet requests and click on save settings...

  • router loses his address to change ssid

Once I have change the SSID or set the WEP password, I hit the button apply and then, when this is done and continue, I press a button, but get nothing.  It is no longer communicates on 192.168.1.1.  He has worked for my devices will be connected with this password, he will speak not only on ethernet.  Any ideas?

    I have a WRT54GS.

It is exactly what it says on the label to... model number as well as material from version 1 in the absence of version number.

But on the sticker of the FCC, there: FCC ID: 087-WRT54GV2, which means a hardware version 2.  Who knows?  Their website says

    It is a version 1.

I went and I have an Asus router (it is set up and works perfectly) so I can try a software update with no problem.

(if anyone wants to pay the transport costs, they may have this Linksys).

We hope Belkin will try to find the original quality of the name of Linksys.

I'm not up to try at this point.

Thank you all, I can manage the software update.
