WRT54GL

Greetings,

I've been difficulties connect my Linksys WRT54GL router to a router Baudtec provided by my ISP. The scenario, I would like to implement is connect Baudtec router to the DSL line and then connect one of the 4 Lan Ports of the router for the WRT54GL, so that a wireless client (mainly and if possible by cable)

customers) that connects to the WRT54GL will be able to access the internet.

All the sure am at this stage are:

1. the router Baudtec connects seamlessly to the ADSL line

2. all customers wired and wireless that connects to him (the router Baudtec) can get an IP (via DHCP) can access the internet.

3. the Ethernet cable connecting the router Baudtec and the WRT54GL work correctly.

Well, you need to change the SSID of WRT54GL, it should be different from the SSID Baudtec. If you want to secure your WRT54GL network you can do. SSID should be different for both routers, you can keep the same level of security on both routers, so it will be easy to remember the password for wireless security. Here are a few steps that you can set on your wireless router.

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.2.1
Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...
For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.
Click on the Wireless tab
-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...
For wireless security: -.

Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings... Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

OR

Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select AES... Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.

NOTE: The password must be more than 8 characters...

NOTE: You can either security select WEP or WPA on your router.

Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...
Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

  • WRT54GL Wireless no longer works

I have been using a WRT54GL for a few years with no problems. Wireless and wired connections all work fine. The other day, the wireless network has just stopped being seen. I am broadcast the SSID, but none of our devices see it connect. Connections wired work fine (use it now). Logged into the Admin Panel, no changes, no error. I have tried power cycling, try restart in the admin panel, no luck. No change to the settings on the computer, router or modem cable. Is something fries/worn out after years of use?

    Thank you

Looks like the wireless radio is dead on your router. If you have tried to reset and update the firmware and it still does not trasnsmit wireless signal that means it's time for a new router.

  • Change of Modem and WRT54GL quit unexpectedly from Internet

I've got a WRT54GL powered by a Motorola 5101 cable modem that has worked well for years.  Today, I replaced the 5101 with a very modem provided by Charter mastering DOCIS 3.0, which resulted in a loss of internet connection.  The modem works when connected directly to the computer and the router also function as before except the two do not play well together.  I don't know if there is a problem with the DOCSIS 3.0 standard and the WRT54 or what.  The router firmware is very old - something in 2006 so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.  Recommendations or suggestions are sought after.  Thank you

No confusion, quite clear.  Thanks Pepper_mint.

  • Port forwarding on WRT54GL does not

Thanks in advance, trying to track forward setup my linksys WRT54GL allow Remote Desktop from outside your desktop (private static IP).

I have a configuration of modem netgear in bridge mode (so the firewall is disabled on the modem), and the Linksys WRT54GL Firewall enabled, with "filter internet NAT redirectin" unchecked.

I also, port rule before the Setup program in the game & Apps, to transfer the TCP 3389 to my office (private) static IP address.

I make sure firewall is not blocking the RDP traffic, and I can RDP on the desktop to a laptop on the WIFI network.

But the rest of the world, I can't not RDP using my ISP (dynamic) IP address.  times out.  I don't know that I have the IP address of my ISP at the moment.

Thoughts?  I present screenshots if necessary

After further digging... I found the problem, it was with the Windows 7 firewall.

I made sure 3389 (and RDP application) was allowed on Win Firewall (this is why I could RDP on my WLAN), but for the rule of the RDP, under the "Advanced" tab, I also had to "allow the crossing side.

It was the first time I set up the port forwarding for a box of Win 7, so didn't even know that this setting exists in Windows 7.

  • create the second with WRT54GL wifi network?

I have DSL with a Comtrend router/wifi (WIFI1).  I would like to connect the WRT54GL to the physical network and have it create a separate WiFi (WIFI2), so my laptop connects to WIFI2, transmitted on the LAN and the Internet.

Cannot do this work - tried to configure the WRT to server DHCP, DHCP pass-through (for the comtrend), and the best I can do is connect to WIFI2 and have access to the LAN but not the Internet.

In the end, I want to put an antenna with high gain on the WRT to send to a building about 400' away and do away with horrible WIFI comtrends, but I just can't at first base.  Can anyone help?

    Thank you

You can configure this way: comtrend as main router with Wifi1 and active DHCP then connect with the disabled DHCP and Wifi2 Linksys wireless router. For example, if the IP address of the first router is 192.168.1.1, put the Linksys IP address to 192.168.1.2 and the two will be connected via the LAN - LAN or Ethernet to Ethernet. Visit this link and read the setup of LAN - LAN http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=785463d9ecaf4cac84aed245b08d615f_3733.xml&pid=80&r...

. I also suggest that before you disable the DHCP server on the router Linksys you first define its wireless settings.

  • Wrt54gl with tc7200u @ 125 MB/s

    Hi all

I changed my internet provider of vdsl2 to cable. (from 10 Mb/s to 125 MB/s)

I changed nothing in the wrt54gl except release, renew and everything was fine.

They provide for me a technicolor gateway tc7200u

    http://www.Technicolor.com/en/solutions-services/connected-home/modems-gateways/cable-modems-gateway...

I put the technicolor as the previous modem/router mode "Bridge".

    The problem is the speed.

When I directly connect the modem router for my machine (directly to the internet without nat) I get 125 MB/s (its ok).

    But through the wrt54gl I only had 40 to 50 Mb/s max.

Upload is ok @10 Mbps (change anything with or without the wrt54gl).

    I know that I can't get over 100 Mb/s but why 40?

Is this too much for the wrt54gl?

    Thank you

This router is old and not capable of those speeds. Time for a much needed upgrade.

  • WRT54GL does not connect the new cable Modem

Hello, I hope someone can help me. I just changed internet providers and my router does not work with the new modem they proived. I had been with ATT and has configured the modem/router ATT to act as a pass through my WRT54GL. Now, when I connect my new modem (which is also a wireless router) to the WRT54GL, I get no connection on the Linksys. However, if I plug in my modem att, resume service (I've not turned my old Internet again until I get this resolved). I tell myself that some setting prevents the WRT54GL to connect but not sure how to determine who it is: I'm not very well informed in this area and only followed a guide online when I configured the router to worek with ATT modem. I'm hoping to avoid resetting the WRT54GL to the deault factory because my old model Roku connects and I cannot change the network, it connects to due to losing the physical remote control. If anyone has any suggestions or can help me trouble shoot, I would really appreciate it!

    HI idkidd,

You can disable the Wi - Fi modem to avoid any conflict on your Linksys router. And for the WRT54GL work with the new modem, you must reconfigure. The router might still be trying to remember the previous modem settings.

    Try these steps:

    * Connect the computer directly to the modem and check the IP address (Windows) (MAC OSX )

    Note the IP address

    * Now, unplug the modem from the computer

    * Connect the computer to the Ethernet/LAN router (leave the disconnected modem) ports

    * Determine the IP address of the computer, get the router. Then, compare it to the IP address, you have the modem

    * If you get the modem 192.168.1.x and is also the router 192.168.1.x, which means that there is a conflict of IP address

You can use this link on how to set up the router again with the new set up a router with DSL Internet service Linksys modem

    I hope that these AIDS!

  • WRT54GL L2TP-domain name server

I have WRT54GL v1.1 with the latest firmware. How to specify the L2TP server in domain name? I don't see the fields of intellectual property.

You will probably have to go on the forums of third party firmware such as DD - WRT forum or forum of tomato.

  • Linksys WRT54GL v.1.1, not Internet, 127.0.0.1

    Dear friends,

I wonder what happened after the change to my dorm to the normal IP proxy automatic. With the proxy of my router (WRT54GL v.1.1) worked without problems and now it doesn't.

A friend bought Apple Airport as he says that the old technology does not support this network more. The thing is when I connect the RJ45 cable to my internet computer without seting, I get up, everything is automated.  So I can't believe that my router (WRT54GL v.1.1) is not able to do too much.

When I connect (via The DHCP Auto - Configuration) internet even to my router (WRT54GL v.1.1) I get the following information under status:

      IP address: 127.0.0.1
          Subnet mask: 255.0.0.0
          Default gateway: 0.0.0.0
          DNS 1:
          DNS 2:
          DNS 3:
          MTU: 1500

    I downloaded

      Firmware version:

    4.30.18 build 6, 8 January 2016

You have an idea, what happens? Is this router linksys WRT54GL v.1.1 outdated and I should now get Apple Airport?

    Thank you!

Let's get this work, ceciliamaiitre127.0.0.1 is the loopback Internet protocol (IP) address also known as localhost. The address is used to establish an IP connection on the same computer or computer used by the end user.

Besides, who is your ISP? It is possible that the IP from the modem is on the same range of router that is causing this conflict or this challenge. To resolve this problem, change the 3rd octet of the IP address of your router (e.g. 192.168.2.1) or you can simply use 10.10.10.1. Don't forget to release and renew the IP address. And if there is still no internet connection, just powercycle the router.

  • WRT54GL: Fast cable internet connection; very slow wireless

I have been chasing a problem for months and I am at the end of my mind.

I started with a cable modem Motorola SB5101 and Buffalo bison wrt-hp-g54.  For years, we had a (intermittent) desperately slow wireless connectivity.  Recently I started to run through Speakeasy.NET speed tests to try to find a motive.

Wire speed is consistently running 15-16 Mbit/s, compatible with the speed promised our cable package.

Wireless speeds were a different matter.  From multiple computers, they would sometimes as soon as the wire speed; then all of a sudden (from all wireless computers) the speed would fall to 0.5 Mbit/s or less, then the speed measured on our single wired computer remained at 15 Mbps.

Restart the router would mitigate the problem for a while, and then the wireless would fall up to 0.5 Mbps.

Wire speed would remain stable at the nominal 15 Mbit/s.

Well, looked like a bad router.  I replaced it with a WRT54GL hardware version 1.1.  I've updated the firmware to the last - v4.30.16.

I selected a channel (2) wireless network what inSSIDer 3 watch is not used by any neighboring router (i.e., no interference).  I have that checked regularly and am sure that interference is not the problem.  The router is configured for the wireless G only; WPA - AES.

The same problem occurs with the new Linksys router.

In desperation I replaced the old modem SB5101 with a new SB6141 cable, not believing there could be everything possible that could help but, this what the devil - we will eliminate it as a factor as possible and go to DOCSIS 2.0 to DOCSIS 3.0.

    The problem persists.

Thus, new router, cable modem brand new, constant wire-speed, without strong signals wireless, channel interference all around. but the problem persists. There has been no improvement on the old hardware I used.

All computers, but a (XP Pro) is running Windows 7 Pro.

The problem is not predictable, except that the speed degradation will happen sooner or later - and this is not progressive.  Suddenly, he fell like a stone and sticks to 0.4 to 0.5 Mbits/sec.  Reboot the router (usually) will fix it for a while, and sometimes it will clear up on its own, given enough time.

I ran inSSIDer several times while this is happening, but he sees no other no signal on the channel I use--in fact, none on adjacent channels either.

I checked from wireless to the router table and there is no other than our device, so it does not appear that the network has been hacked.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on or suggest an action plan?

The only thing I can think is that there is something between the router and the computers wireless in the House which is eating up 95% of the bandwidth wireless - a sort of voting out of control.  But what?  I'm completely stuck.

Follow-up.  I changed the channel 1 wireless; After doing some research I realized that sharing a channel (as long as your signal is at least 20 dB louder) causes fewer conflicts overlapping channels.  I have not changed anything else.  I'm tempted to allow the break-up of the frame but implementation of that seems to be somewhat specific to the supplier so I'll let it be.  In any event the wireless speed now as fast as the wire speed.

The result is that since the re - install the Linksys firmware and do a hard reset that I saw not a single instance of the speed problem.  So I still don't know exactly what caused in the first place, but I'm glad that the problem has disappeared, so I'll just let things be.

    Thank you!

  • Problems connecting a WRT54GL to an AG241V2

I have been using the AG241v2 router to connect my PC to the internet, the PC does not have a wireless card, so I use a cable ethernet to the router.  This works perfectly well.

I recently bought a WRT54GL Wireless router so that I can have wireless access for other devices.  I can't do the two devices communicate with each other.  Can someone help with the problem of getting the AG241 and the WRT54GL to connect?

Hi, daviddaydevon. Aside from that sabretooth suggested, you can also do the LAN WAN Setup. You will need to change the local IP address of the WRT54GL for conflict of IP.  We can refer to this link, http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=785463d9ecaf4cac84aed245b08d615f_3733.xml&pid=80&r... and follow the LAN WAN Configuration. Hope that helps.

  • Network on WRT54GL speed

    Hello

I have a 16 Mbit/s (megabits) cable modem connected to the WRT54GL. Office is located next to the router and is connected with a cable, Wi - Fi is connected the laptop. Both PCs reach maximum speed when downloading on the internet but when I try to copy something from one PC to another on the LAN I get stuck on max 2.5 - 3MBps (megabytes). Is this normal or am I missing something?

    Thank you

    Robert

Normal for a 54 Mbps max connection you will get only about 50% of the wireless speed.

  • Much faster WRT54GL (5.4mpbs down) wired then on wireless (1.2mbps down)

    Hello

I have speed issues on the side of my WRT54GL Wireless Router v1.1.

When I plug in a laptop to the wired port, I get about 5.4mps down when wired, but only 1.2mpbs down the wireless.

I'm tempted to do a factory restore. I made sure no quality of service is in place. I tried several devices to make sure that this is not something on the side of the device causing this problem, but all devices perform just as badly the wireless but also on cable.

Do you have any suggestions on how I could fix this?

Change channel wireless 1, 6 or 9. Make sure that wireless security is set to WPA Personal.
