Hi, whenever I open or eject my cd/dvd drives it disconnects my computer from the network.  She re-establishes a connection automatically thereafter, but the problem becomes very annoying. All the patches?

  • When open the external drive, Windows Photo Gallery opens

I'm simply trying to reinstall my hard drive external and had the same message.  After connecting my hard drive, open windows photo gallery.  I have nothing to indicate that my moment of Memeo Backup is installing another opening.  Just the Windows Photo Gallery tells me it can't open this photo or video.  I use Vista.  I attempted to locate and download updates to photo gallery, but have not yet found.  What do you suggest me?

    Hello

It sounds like you have auto play active for their external hard drive:

You will need to change or disable this feature for this photo gallery Windows only opens every time that they connect the hard drive.

  • How can I change the default action of the folder Explorer 'explorer' when a cd/dvd drive is selected.

For some reason, the default value is "install or run. I found this in the registry, but can't make any sense of the entries accompanying.

Now, I understand what you want to do and I think also it can be done with changes to the registry, but I have no idea of what they are (and can find no references or articles about it).

One thing you could do would be to go to start / Control Panel / Default programs / change AutoPlay settings / set autoplay on (yes I know you turned it off) and change ALL the options to "open folder to view files using Windows Explorer".  While happen automatically every time that you have inserted a CD - making it an automatic default (instead of a manual using the context menu).  I don't think that would change the option in the context menu by default or the default when action a double-click on the CD in Windows Explorer, but it can get you closer to what you want to be the case.

I would suggest repost you your request in the Technet Forums: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistasetup/threads where they are a little more technical nature that we are here and that you know the registry tweak to achieve your goals.

    I hope this helps.

  • Solutions to the problem of CD/DVD drive cannot read DVD discs

This article will tell you 3 ways to solve the problem of the CD/DVD drive do not read the DVD disc. Please the process step by step.

    Solution1. Clean the DVD disc

If your Player cannot detect the DVD disc, the first thing you need to do is to clean the DVD disc. Use a soft and dry cloth (not painted) to wipe the disc from the center of the disc to the edge. Please take care to not to use a paper to clean the disc with a circular motion, it will scratch the disc.

After cleaning, inert the DVD on the drive to see if it works, if the reader can't read the disc, use a cloth of cotton wet with water or alcohol to clean the disc. After the disc dry, inert re the disc on the drive. If the reader can read, the operation is complete. If this isn't the case, please turn to the option2.

Option2. Check the disc to see if it has been damaged

Draw the DVD from the drive and check if there are some scratches or small cracks on the disc. If the disc is damaged, please try another DVD disc to see if the drive can read. If the drive cannot recognize the new disk, there could be a problem with the CD/DVD drive. Please turn to solution 3.

Solution3. Clean or repair the CD/DVD drive

When a CD/DVD drive has been used for a long time, its ability to play disc will only get worse. Then, the reader can not read some discs, or blocking your computer in the middle of the reading disc. This is usually due to the aging of certain parts of the disc, CD/DVD player dirty.

Open the drive to check if the DVD reader accumulates dust and dirt, if so, the cold air from the hair dryer allows you to clean the inside of the DVD drive. Be sure to not blow on the optical sensor orally, or clean it with a cloth of cotton with water or alcohol. After cleaning, insert a DVD disc on the drive to see if it works. If still no, you need to call the s command customer service or take the reader to a computer repair shop.

  • Pavilion dv7 cannot recognize the CD/DVD drive, no help support "assistant".

Subject says it all.  Since I got this machine, it had problems when the CD/DVD drive becomes invisible and are not accessible by any means.  A reboot has solved in the past, but now, it doesn't seem to work more.  I would like to reinstall the drivers, but guess what, I don't know what kind of player, it is (funny how that works), and Support 'Assistant' is apparently ihcapable to understand the model of this Pavilion dv7 ("product name: loading...") ("now until the heat death of the universe), which does not help either.  Anyone has a better idea than just blindly install the drivers?

    Hello

Drivers for CD/DVD drives comes with Windows (IE with the operating system - it is not the drivers you need to download).  The driver is located in C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys.

First, try the automated Microsoft fixit at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Check if the drive works now.

If the drive does not, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Right-click on the first channel and select uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When uninstalled repeat the process for each channel.  Also, if an ATA controller is listed, right click and uninstall it, once again is not removing the drivers if requested. Then, open the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.  Make a right click the drive (if it shows!) and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.

Restart the computer and let Windows reinstall devices.  Check the disc again.

If it still does not work, re-run the fixit automated Microsoft at the link below.

    Windows 7

    Vista

Then, in the Start Menu, open Control Panel and click Device Manager.  Click to open the CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Right-click on the drive and choose uninstall.  Do not delete if requested drivers.  When the device has been uninstalled click the icon 'Search for hardware changes' (usually just below help in the toolbar).  Let windows reinstall the disc and see if it works now.

    Best wishes

  • Help, please. My CD/DVD drive won't open unless I use a needle and even when he's not reading anything.

As I have said on the subject my CD/DVD drive does not open and it will not read. My computer sees the problem but has no solutions. That I am, I expected to do?

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

  • Satellite L500-126-CD/DVD drive does not open very well unrolled

    Hello

I just got my second Satellite L500-126.
I traded my first for a new because the ESCAPE key got stuck sometimes and made a grinding sound.

Now, with my new one, I noticed that my dvd drive does not open very well unrolled and 2 bars of silver metal bit come out with the car when I open it.
    Is this normal?

Also, when I close the dvd player, I hear a little noise "ping!"
Like a spring, or something. Is that also normal?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 2 small bars of silver, but the reader of my laptop s contains two metals (runners, railway).
This is normal and these pieces are important to ensure that the drive can eject properly and could remain in a good position.
Still, you will hear a short click Open and close the drive.

    So I guess it's ok.

the system is64bit and the driver for the cd is a 32-bit... and why the pilot ancient... Since 2006?

The driver for the cd isn't as drivers for other devices... it's buried deep in the operating system in a layer that is probably there since Windows 2000. Your drive has failed and needs to be replaced. Are you sure that Frys extended warranty does not cover the screen? Some of them have no protection against accidental damage.
