xw4100: HP xw4100: five long beeps at startup

HP xw4100 is five long beeps at startup. What it means?

Hello:

5 beeps = a memory problem any.

The normal troubleshooting steps involve the removal and reinstallation of each strip of memory.

If that does not receive the 5 beeps to get out, then remove all of the memory modules but one and test each of them in both to isolate the faulty memory module.

If this does not work, probably the motherboard has failed.

Hi, problem as above. I'm guessing that bios related, but other than that, no idea. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Mark

    Hi, Mark:

Normally 5 long beeps means there is a problem of memory.

The only suggestion I can offer is to remove and reinstall each module of memory.

If this does not work, remove all the memory modules and each of them in the primary memory slot one check at a time until it beeps constantly.

When you find the memory that works with no beep, then you have isolated the bad memory module.

If the 5 beeps continue depite these troubleshooting steps, you can pretty much figure that the motherboard has failed.

  • 23 q059na: 23 - q059na all-in-One - 3 beeps long beeps at startup 4

When I start my 23-q059na all-in-one, I get 3 long beeps and 4 short beeps, then several times. Then, it seems to start fine. I tried to watch using diagnosis but there seems to be no information about this error. I tried to find the diagnosis option of memory in the BIOS, but there is no option for this. It is still under warranty - should I just take it back to the store?

  • Aurora R4 single long beep on startup.

    Hi all

Today, I added a 4 ports USB hub for my R4 using USB 2/3connections on the motherboard. I did it because my forehead to the USB 2.0 ports no longer works after a tech replaced my front control panel. They were connected to the USB 2 port, the MIO USB Board was on USB 3, and 1 USB was empty. Anyway, I moved the jury MIO USB cable to USB 1, plugged my hub USB USB 2 and 3 (because it requires two connections for 4 ports) and left the USB 2.0 wire front.

Now, I get a second beep long 5 when I turn on. I get flawless at the start, all the USB ports work without any problem and according to the beep codes, the beep indicates 'Card mother Possible failure - BIOS ROM checksum'. I don't really know how the addition of a USB hub to the mobo could cause this problem. Any ideas?

Well, I noticed the USB 1 chip power the little Gizmo (very small, flat, black) was quite corroded so I took some q-tips and isopropyl alcohol to her and cleaned. The computer is 6 months old...

Anyone has any ideas on this issue?

What is sure, that all cables are connected completely? From my experience, the long beep can be seen, if the cables (power cable of the Gpu, etc) are not properly connected to the components/mobo!

  • dx2300, beep at startup

I bought a computer format used DX2300 microtour. It worked wonderfully to home sellers. We have removed the son/cables and I took it home. When I reassembled everything I have no action on the (dual) monitors, no lghts on the wireless mouse or keyboard. The CPU is a single long beep on startup. The only thing I did for her was clean dust from the front vents and fans. I think that the seller had an external hard drive of 1 t bytes, but other than that, II think it is anyway. Any suggestions?

    Hi sam722,

Enter the BIOS (F10 at startup of the tap) and verify that the HARD disk and the memory is correctly recognized.

Reinstall the memory modules and check the connections of the internal cables (especially the HARD drive). Check the AC voltage selection to check that it is set properly. Check the connection of the AC to the PC power cable.

Something may have jarred loose during the move.

Try to start with a monitor.

Here are the instructions to get the latest version of HP Insight Diagnostics (image): it may not help in this moment but can be useful in the future.

  • long beeps after installing the video card

    Hello

    I recently bought a HP 500-223w.

I wanted to install a power supply a video card.

Here's the problem: everything works fine without the installed video card.

If I install the video card then at startup it gives me a series of long beeps.

I turned it off after the long fourth beep assuming they would UST go on and on.

The power supply is more than enough to power the video card.

The video card should not be bad, because I just moved it from another system. (system currently does not, bad mobo)

I was wondering what the infinite long beep on startup?

    Thanks and regards, TJames.

    Hello:

Product for your PC specifications indicate that it comes with Windows 8.1.

To install a video card no HP on PC shipped with Windows 8 or 8.1, you must change both settings of the BIOS before installing the card.

Please see this document for the BIOS to change settings...

    Hello!

Beep codes mean that there is a faulty hardware component.
It's not easy to tell what is the reason for this, but in your case I would try to exchange the RAM.

If it doesn't work you should contact an ASP and ask for help. Technicians can check your laptop and exchanging all the necessary parts.
On the Toshiba site, you can search the nearest ASP:

Hello: I have a m9340f HP Pavilion Elite aged five years, under vista. • 6 long beeps BIOS after video card install

Hello, I recently bought a HP ENVY h8 - 1437c, Windows 8, I replaced the (NVIDIA GeForce GT 620) with a (Sapphire HD 7770 1 GB GDDR5). I hooked the 6-pin power and made sure the card is seated properly multipule times.  On startup, I get 6 long beeps and the power light flashes. Then a few seconds later the power light lights up blue and the PC starts fine. The map seems to work very well as well. I played games on max settings without any problem, where, as before the GeForce card couldent do that. Around the web, I read that he might have something to do with the secure boot BIOS enabled, I disabled without change, even 6 long beep and then the PC starts fine. I guess my question is, is that although it beeps? It is at the origin of internal problems? The only things that I've done so far add video card software, secure boot disabled (using the old GeForce card to get into the BIOS) and reinstall the the new vid card/6pin power wire. Thanks for the help and let me know if you need more information.

Here is the link for my computer specs just in case.

    Hi Sarge1D,

Go back into the bios and UEFI Legacy mode. There could be a slight mismatch between the Sapphire video card and bios of HP.

    View your results.

As a side note: I suggested in a post earlier that HP do exactly as you have to allow video cards which have a difference of function vbios with the bios of the PC HP (beep 6 times as a warning, but leave the PC to boot).

  • Computer won't start; 3 long beeps, the fan turns

    Hello

I have a desktop HP equipped of Windows Vista that does not start correctly.  When I turn it on it looks like it is starting, I hear the fan, the computer will beep 3 times in a row (I would say long beeps) then stops and beeps 3 times in a row again.  Then nothing on the monitor, fan always running.  If I didn't get anything I think that the computer and the monitor's energy-saving.

Before I turn it on the screen says no signal so I think the screen itself works.  I don't quite see the HP splash screen.  Pressing F8 during startup seems to do nothing.

I created Vista backup discs (food?), but I don't think they are bootable.  Some back story: a few weeks ago, I tried to download Windows Live.  After installing the updates, I could never Live DL and the next day I got the blue screen of death.  I rebooted, you press F8 repeatedly and Windows started normally.  Although it worked fine for a few days I felt nervous that I did a restore of the system around October 31.  Everything seems to be ok for over a week but now I have this problem.  I thought to upgrade to Windows 7, but do not know what to do at this point.  I've never opened a tour - answers Google talk out of ram or certain types of error of keyboard Bios (3270 keyboard card).

Help, please!  Sorry to be so long.  :-)

    Hello

These beeps mean hardware problems so check with a real computer (not the leeks and pics store

Sound beeps are error codes that describe a problem with your machine.

Startup and select CONFIGURATION/SETTINGS (BIOS/CMOS) - usually F2 that you start - look to see BIOS

  • T500 beep at startup

Last week, my computer (Lenovo ThinkPad T500) has started to beep at startup (a long, two short) and will not allow the system to boot. I need to stop and restart a considerable amount of time before the display finally manifests. The strange thing is that he has informed me that this indicates a problem of video and still I ran diagnostics and others, and there is nothing wrong. In addition, my computer works perfectly, if not even better than before the beeps started.

This problem starts to become annoying and I'm afraid I could irreversibly damage my computer if I keep trying to start when it beeps. How can I fix?

    Thanks for all your help!

    katrimc, welcome to the forum

the hardware maintenance manual(pdf p. 52), the beep code means that you may be a problem either with your motherboard, display or memory. I suggest deleting and reinstalling your memory, (pdf p. 78 or look here), and if the problem continues to run memtest86 to check your memory. Let him at least 3 complete passes.

If your memory goes and the symptoms persist, you must call support.

Know how you get on the forum.

  • Equium A200 - continuous beep on startup

A colleague has spilled water on an A200 Equium and therefore it emits a continuous beep on startup. In fact, you get one beep, immediately followed another. However, if you press F1 it starts OK and all is well. I ran Diagnostics and found nothing wrong.
The only problem is that one or two of the keys work fine if you lightly touch them.

Someone has ideas about resetting the sound signal, or what I could do? Thank you.

    Andy

    Hey,.

I think that it s is not easy to say why this is happening but maybe the water has damaged the keyboard and there so always will be in a hurry I don t he know exactly.

I think that it is not so useful for you if we discuss it here without test and we don t have made real for your laptop should be checked by a technician of the laptop. Guys can make a detailed diagnosis and order spare parts.

  • No satellite M30 604 no display & beeps at startup

When I turn on my Toshiba Satellite M30 604, there is no display and it is 1 long beep and 2 short beeps

I know that is not the problem of memory, because I replace it.
When I remove all memory other beeps can be heard.

    Anyone know what the beeps.

    What can I do?

I think the beep code is a graphic chip problem. My other laptop (not a Toshiba) gave the same error beep, I had to replace the motherboard.
