8430 PXI cannot open serial ports

Hi all

I have problems using the NI PXI-8430/8 map serial ports.

After installing the driver, the device works very well and the troubleshooter MAX serial shows all 8 ports as adopted and I can access ports.

After a restart of the system, I can not access the ports of 8430. This utility lists all the ports 'Impossible' with the message "cannot open port.

In the Device Manager configuration seems correct. Also, I find no error in the Windows registry (COMDB,...). Everythings seems good enough.

I think that theres might be no other application that could take control of all ports, especially not after a reboot.

I tried to reinstall the drivers, reorganize the com-numbers and I have already changed the material 8430. Nothing solved the problem...

Does anyone have a solution or any ideas?

My configuration:

Rack of 1078 / controller: PXI-8135 / Serial Ports: PXI-8430/8

Windows XP

I have another system that works pretty well in the same configuration.

Hello

I found the solution. It was a conflict situations with the MT7 3 m touch screen driver.

Special thanks to french colleagues, their position causes an appeal me the right way.

Here is the link: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Discussions-au-sujet-des-autres/Ports-COM-des-cartes-NI-bloqu%C3%A9s-par-le-...

You must disable the service "Search MT7 Service series" (configuration/Administration/Services Board). After I did that it worked well...

I get the error "Internal Error Max could not get interface to database of the MAX". A new installation does not solve the problem. Any ideas what could be the cause?

    Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answers, even if they did not help. Already tried to resolve this question of the repair of a corrupted Max database before posting here, but he has not changed a thing. An other error message told me that maybe NI-VISA has not been installed on the controller, so I installed just that. What I didn't know, is that you will also install "server of NI-VISA. Could be obvious to more experienced LABView users but I'm new to this software and the large number of software components is a bit frustrating...

    Anyway, problem solved :-D

  • Tecra M1 - Modem does not work (could not open a port)

I have a problem: after you have reinstalled Windows XP and on my Tecra M1 drivers, modem does not work. It can not diagnose himself - he always comes a warning: "cannot open a port (COM). It can be used by another device or application. I installed the latest Toshiba drivers for the modem, but nothing changes. How can I solve this problem? Looking forward for your advice!
    Best regards.

    Hello

Have you installed the drivers in the correct order? Not? So do it!
Have you installed the software or additional devices which could have a bad influence on the modem?
Check the status of the modem in Device Manager. You don't see any yellow exclamation?

Try to start the test on the modem within the operating system.
Check the operation of the Modem under
    Start-> Control Panel-> phone and Modem Options-> Modems tab-> properties-> Diagnostics
by pressing the 'button interrogate Modem.

If the information window about the Modem contains a list of COMMANDS (including ATI2, ATI3, ATI4 etc.), then the modem is installed correctly. The ATI5 command ends with the number for the parameters selected regional (for example Germany = 06).
To change the regional setting please use the Toshiba Internal Modem region Select utility.

  • Serial port and parallel to ESXi 4

    Hello

What about series and PARALLEL to VM mapping in esxi 4?

Nothing. You cannot map serial ports or parallel in ESXi, ESX is required for this type of functionality.

  • On the PXI-8106 serial port connection problem

Currently, I am trying to connect to the serial port on the PXI-8106 via RS232 module. However, when I try to run the Test VI opened for COM1 MAX (PXI Remote) running on a PC, I received an error like below:

    Returns the status code: 0xBFFF00A8

    Name of the State: VI_ERROR_NPERMISSION

Access to the resource or the remote machine is denied. This is due to the lack of sufficient privileges for the current user or the machine.

Right now I'm just a just loopback test to ensure that the interface for device is working before you start my labview code. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, if it has to do with the PXI or PC. Could you please suggest a few solutions to this topic?

    Thank you.

I managed to understand. It did not work on the right platform.

If you use Windows, you can find this information in the Device Manager by looking at the tab resources in the property sheet for the device.  While it is not guaranteed to be that of boot at startup, it will be in practice, as long as you don't add or delete everything material, change the topological layout of material (from slot machines in things are or the provision of connections in a system MXI), upgrade/downgrade BIOS or apply a really unusual Windows patch.

If YOU have the information by program (in this case it changes), it can be obtained by calling the method CM_Get_Next_Res_Des (documented in the SDK documentation of drivers Windows - Google for it) on the device.  The sequence of calls to find your device and get all the parameters to pass into this function is very hairy, but it is pretty well documented if you have time to comb it.

If you use a LabVIEW RT, so unfortunately I don't think there's an API that exposes this information.

  • Cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings, XP SP3

    Hello
I have some XP SP3 workstations that are used in the factory.  The shell of charge is attached to COM1.  When I test the appliance to make sure that all devices work, the shell load test will not open COM1.  When I use HyperTerminal to test COM1, I get the message "cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings. "I checked the BIOS of a workstation and compare it to the non-working station.  Corresponding to all of the information correctly.  When I check property COM1 resources, the station problem looks identical to the right station and no conflicts.  IRQ 04 corresponds to the current setting.  To get the workstation resurfaced to open COM1, I open COM1 properties, resource tab, uncheck and then re-check "use automatic settings" with your status to uncheck.  After having double checked the "use automatic settings", I click OK.  I then go back to see what the parameters are.  He changed his IRQ 07.  This change works until the computer has been restarted , and then the following steps must be applied again.  Also, if I perform these same steps on a workstation, I get the same results with the change IRQ.  I don't have the problem with com except COM1 ports.  We use the software in a box.  Change to use another com port is not an option.

    Thank you

  • Cannot open COM1. Please check your port settings

I have some XP SP2 workstations that are used in the factory.  I use Clonezilla to reimage the workstations (Yes, we have valid licenses for all units) where you have to replace a hard drive or have warranty work that requires a new installation.  We have put arrangements in place on the specified comm ports.  The printer is connected to COM1.  When I test the appliance to make sure that all devices work, the test of the printer will not open COM1. To get the desktop put open COM1, I open COM1 properties, resource tab, uncheck and then re - check the box "Use automatic settings" without applying the Statute to uncheck.  After having double checked the "use automatic settings", I click OK.  I then go back to see what the parameters are.  He changed his IRQ 07.  This modification works until the computer has been restarted so the following steps must be applied again.  Also, if I perform these same steps on a workstation, I get the same results with the change IRQ.  I don't have the problem with comm except COM1 ports.  We use the software in a box.  Change to use a different comm port is not an option.

It seems that the cloning process is causing the problem.  Clonezilla is fast and reliable with the exception of what seems to be a problem of comm port.  I'm looking for someone who can tell me what settings can I change to make COM1 to work without having to go through additional steps after the workstation is restarted.

    Thank you
    Rick

  • Measurement & Automation explore (MAX) cannot find any serial ports

    Hello

I tried half of the internet, but I can't find a solution for my problem. Maybe someone of you have an idea :-)

    My System Information:

    OS: Windows 7 (64-bit)

LabView: LabView Professional Development System 2015 (32 bit)

    MAX: Version 15.0.0f0

    NI-VISA: 15.0

    NOR-Serial 14.0

I've attached a screenshot of MAX at the end of my post.

All the drivers for serial ports are properly installed (see another screenshot). But Max, I can't find these ports. There is only the error code "0xBFFF0011 (VI_ERROR_RSRC_NFOUND). If I want to add the COM Port via 'Devices and Interfaces'--> 'New'--> ' Port (serial or parallel) ", I can only choose between COM1-COM4 and LPT1-LPT4. But I need COM9!

Anyone have any idea what I did wrong?

    Thank you

    deZeus

I looks like something is wrong with your installation OR VISA (as MAX does not find ALL ports).  Make sure that NEITHER VISA is activated (sometimes of other kinds of visa in the way), or try reinstalling NI VISA.  Serial number NOR is not necessary since you are not serial ports using OR.

  • Cannot find driver for PCI serial port

I just installed a serial PCI on my computer (XP Home SP3) card and can be seen in the Device Manager; but it comes as "PCI Serial Port" under "other devices". When I try to configure it, it tells me that there is no driver available. How to get and install a driver who won't work. I suspect that it is a generic driver (probably vserial.sys) who, for some reason any never was installed in my folder System32. When I try to use my original Windows disks, I said I can't because the files on my computer are newer than those on the disks. Can I not download and install the driver from somewhere on the MS site?

Thank you, I only wish that the story had a happier ending for you.
