Abandonment wireless Photosmart 5510 [A 7708, 4].

We are runningtwo iMac (intel) OSX 10.7.3.  We bought the printer from the Apple store as a package with the Macs and have had nothing more than boredom with him.  Our Macs are ethernet wired to our BT home hub but the wireless printer.  HP recommended support that we define our address of the printer. We did this but its keeps abandon the connection and count us are reduced to the machine andf run to ten before turning on, when, sometimes, it works.  She also continues to send only our computers false and incorrect ink status alerts that are not easily erasable from desktop. We are about to take the thing to the Apple store as unfit at the end unless someone can help you sort through the problem. Can buy us a USB printer and forget 'Wireless '.

Yes, we have been in contact with many Internet service providers like BT, they see not their router is the problem.  HP printers are tested with standard routers wireless industry (according to Wifi Alliance protocols).  Many ISP routers do not respect this (probably because it costs extra money).

So if you want to give this a go, let's define an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers in the IP address of the printer (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS.
-Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • This issue is still pending. My PhotoSmart 5510 continues to go offline during the generation of printed documents.

    I have a PhotoSmart 5510 and a Toshiba i7 Quad 4 laptop running Windows7 with a Trendnet Wireless router.

My PhotoSmart 5510 disconnects when printing is generated.    All systems are go: online wirelessly connected wireless, does not not offline, set as the default printer, checkmark, etc..  Sometimes it will make an impression and disconnect and sometimes it will disconnect the first time and will not be printed.

If I run the diagnostic utility I can usually get it online.  But the said diagnostic utility it is disconnected and the problem is not "resolved".

It also has a problem with the USB.  If I've set up as a USB printer will crash the entire operating system and laptop computer will not restart unless the USB is disconnected or if the printer is turned off.  This does not happen with my laptop computer on the same Lexmark printer.

There is a utility called Microsoft mount it that might be able to help to uninstall the old version of the HP Photosmart from your PC software. It is pretty Strait before running.

Once it's done try to reinstall the software.

Please let me know how it goes.

  • without the Photosmart 5510 ink cartridges Control Panel cannot be accessed

I have a Photosmart 5510 which has no ink cartridge. My intention is to use it to scan only, and I would like to be able to set up wireless. When I turn on the printer, the control panel displays this: "problem of ink cartridges.  One or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. Install or replace the affected cartridges. »

The wireless button or the ePrint button cause anything to appear on the control panel and there is no other options, such as cancel or continue.

Is there a way to go beyond this message of ink cartridges without installing cartridges?

    Hello

In general, I'm afraid the answer is no, as a multifunction device, it requires the ink required to operate the device but there are of the workarounds you can try.

That there is a problem with one or more of the ink cartridges should be sorted first, the control panel will not answer while the device is in an error state.

You try to use the computer temporarily plugging in a USB port on the printer.

If the printer is recognized by the PC in such a State, let it finish its configuration and open the software HP Photosmart 5510.

Open the utilities tab and click on Setup & software printer, then click on convert USB to wireless and follow the steps on your PC.

If this success then run a scan of your PC use.

If it is not detected, which is likely to be affected by the error status of the device, such you will solve the problem first.

You can follow these steps to solve a problem of cartridge if necessary:

  • Not able to scan from the printer to my computer control panel using the HP Photosmart 5510

    Hello

I recently bought the new HP Photosmart 5510 all in one - and I am not able to scan from my printer to my computer.

I am however able to scan by launching the scan of the computer. I talked to HP customer earlier this evening and we ran printing + scan doctor and can't find any problems.

I am running Windows 7-64 bit and that you have installed my wireless printer using the Installation CD supplied with the printer today.

I could not finish troubleshooting with the technician that I talked to because I had to go to work. The person that I spoke with proposed possibly the full functionality of software downloaded from the hp.com site, which I'm happy to do, but I think that it is useless, because I have the CD of installation here. (The rep that I talked to was very nice, but I prefer not to have to uninstall and reinstall if it is not necessary)

Because as I mentioned above, everything works perfectly and I am able to scan - but not directly from the printer itself.

When I try to scan from my printer to my computer an error message appears on the control panel of the printer indicating that: there is no scan destination options of analysis chosen / no..

However, I can't find anywhere with my HP software where I could add / make sure that the destinations were there. (As I could on my other printers. (IE. By the solution Center)

This printer does not appear to be a solution center that I could find and the scanner installed with the CD icon doesn't give me any options regarding changing the settings of the parser

    I wonder:

    1. the Hp Photosmart 5510 does not have the capacity to scan from the printer control panel?

2 OR the CD installation provided with my printer only has the base drivers as the agent of tech support suggested? Which means to scan from my printer I need to download drivers for your hp Web site?

    3. or is the problem because of something else entirely?

    Thanks for your help!

    HI Dublin,

I tried in vain several times to install the driver for my refurbished XP for my laptop HP photosmart 5510. I said I want to install via radio - he finds the printer and lets me select - then it starts the installation.  It gets about two-thirds through the bar of "installing network printer." "and crashes.

I let it rest, go to walk my dogs, prepare dinner, and it moves of there.  When I click on cancel, it crashes during the phase cancellation and I'm relegated to "force quit" process.  It's annoying!  All I want to do is wireless printing.  Scanning the computer would be an asset.

BTW, I had NOT of PROBLEMS installation on laptop of my wife under System 7.

    Hi docswan,

I can't wait to hear that you are experiencing installation problems.  The following steps may resolve this problem. You can also view documents related to this issue by clicking here.  If you are unable to install the full features software, a generic driver can be installed via windows to enable printing only.  Here is a link that will provide the steps to do this.  Click here

    12. end of the process of HP network Communicator.

    13. This should push the software before saying that the printer cannot be installed correctly, but can be installed via the IP address.

  • driver installation failure on photosmart 5510

I am trying to install my photosmart 5510 on a new computer, Windows 7 (64 bit) operating system. everytime I try and go through all the steps of downloaded I get an install error - failure of the HP Installation - MSI 1603. Cannot get past. The printer is configured on a wireless network and that works, just can't get the driver to install. I tried to remove the program and he can't delete because it is not installed correctly. It seems very circular. Any ideas?

These install failures can be no fun. Looks like you may have a few things underway.

You indicate that the software cannot be uninstalled. Where are you try uninstalling to?
    * The best place to remove the HP printing software that won't remove is through the control panel > programs > uninstall a program.
    * If the printer software still cannot be removed in this way, you can find a Microsoft Fix It solution. This program will help with software that will not uninstall.

Also, you have found the failure of Installation of HP - MSI 1603. It is indicating that one of the MSI (Microsoft Installation) files fails to run. MSI often fail if the permissions are not correct as well.

There are a few measures that take to this error:
    * Press Windows + R key to the "Run" command
    * Type msiexec.exe to confirm MSI Version 4.5 or higher. Below if the 4.5 Version, stop here and answer to get instructions on how to update MSI.

If MSI Version 4.5 or higher:
    * Press Windows + R key.
    * Type msiexec /Unregister and press ENTER. If it works, there is no message.
    * Press Windows + R key.
    * Type msiexec /regsvr and press ENTER. This will confirm that the MSI is working.

    Remove all remaining files:
    Open the C: drive > Program Files (x 86) > HP folder
    * Delete the folder with the Photosmart series 5510 in the title. It is to ensure that all remaining for the printer software has disappeared.

    * Press Windows + R
    * Type %temp% , and then press ENTER.
    * Delete all files starting with 7z. It's remove for installation failed installation files.

    Now to install in:
    * Make sure you are using the administrator login
    * Download the most current driver for your printer.
    * When you run the downloaded file, make sure you right click and click on run as administrator.

Photosmart HP 5510 is not that old of a printer. I guess that this printer is still under warranty. If these steps do not address the issue then give the HP Technical Support a call at 1-800-474-6836.
