Biometric authentication at logon failure

Hello HP

I get the following error when using normal logon.

'the biometric authentication service does not work', there is a wait (with the dialog box displaying hourglass saying please wait) at least one minute until the logon apears "Please choose the password or wait 30 secsnds" or something (I have power down) by clicking password is fine opening then normal. NOTE: the normal logon with password works fine. It is NOT a problem with the user credentials that I see.

Any ideas please?

qsf123,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The following can help...

Start with this because there are a number of dependencies on the next difficulty that may not clear with a simple reboot of the biometric Service by itself:

If you use a laptop:

  • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
  • Unplug everything (little unifying for the keyboard / mouse external can stay)
  • Perform the Hard Reset for your model of laptop
  • Start the computer and connect

ELSE, if you use a desktop computer:

  • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
  • Disconnect devices USB, speakers, other drives useless
  • Unplug the computer thirty seconds
  • Connect the power supply (plug in)
  • Reconnect the devices
  • Start / start the computer and log in

Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device to reset.  The procedure do not destroy your files, or it destroys your Windows installation somehow.  It's just "clears the cobwebs".  Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer problems.

Next:

There is a Service biometric Windows that you can try to reboot and see if that clears up the question with the opening of the session.

Control Panel > display icon > Administrative Tools > Services >

Click on "name" to sort this column >

Scroll down and look for Windows Biometric Service > highlight the Windows Biometric Service >

Click on (in the left column)  Restart service

My Elitebook 8540p has developed a problem where I get the error message - Internet Explorer has stopped working... Turn it back on.     I am running Windows 7 32 bit.   And using IE9.

After some internet reading, I started my services of neutralization.    I finally got down to a service that is causing the problem.

When I disable the service in the services of the MSconfig System Configuration and reboot, I use internet explore without any problem.    (I've identified some Web pages which would agrivate the question.)

The deactivation of the Service of Authenticaton of Biomitric causes the scanner to not work.     I tried to reload the driver for fingerprint reader, and the HP Protect tools Security Manager.

Any idea how I can activate the biometric authentication Service and not IE stopped working the issue?

I had the same problem on my HP Pavilion dv7 and had the chance of getting a solution.

I, too, put the finger on biometric authentication as the problem Service.  By disabling the service, Internet Explorer worked well; except, now, I had no finger analysis feature.  I installed the latest version and it worked for a few sessions and then the problem comes back.

Looking at my updates, I realized that the Flash is set to update at the same time, the problem started.  I tested by activating the biometric authentication Service.  Instead, I disabled the Flash add-on in Internet Explorer and it did not work again; except, now, I had no Flash.

Searching online, I came across this post from Adobe:

I followed the instructions in this post, including the "clean install" and reverted to version 10.3 of Flash.

After updated a few customers today to this service pack level, they could no longer reach the namespace which worked just.  I have a mix of XP SP3, Vista SP1, SP2 and Windows 7 clients.  All clients are x 86 with the exception of the Win 7.  This error message and the problem is only affecting customers who have been updated to SP2 on Vista.  All other clients work as expected.  They can reach the root server and use DFS.  What is very interesting is, if I'm fast enough, I can't open the way and navigate files briefly before he launched me.  Trying to go back the namespace, I am prompted with:

    Hi BinaTon,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    4. how many accounts do you have on the computer?

Check if the problem persists in the safe mode and post back with the results.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Restart the computer to return to normal mode

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then perform the clean boot procedure.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Hello

We have allowed Local DB authentication in our E - VCS and could not succeed to authenticate endpoints H323 behind the firewall. SIP devices register without problems.

One last thing to be noticed in the screenshot above is...

For the scenario to work the RAS has the full discovery of the true value. Whereas it is false for the other.

Could it be a problem of capability not shared sets properly.

    Hi Rio,

a couple of things you can try:

S ' ensure that the endpoint has a configured NTP server

-On the verge of ending, try changing the configuration mode of appeal to 'Live' and then save again "Gatekeeper" and save again.

It should be I hope that endpoint are starting to send the RRQ with cryptographic tokens.

    You could try restarting endpoint.

  • Event log > doesn't have a logon event

    Hello world

    -------------------------
    An account could not connect.

    Object:
    Security ID: Karen-PC\Karen
    Account name: Karen
    Account domain: Karen-PC
    Login ID: 0x64be4

    Logon type: 3

The account to which the connection failed:
    Security ID: NULL SID
    Account name: comments
    Account domain: Karen-PC

    Failure information:
Reason for the failure: account currently disabled.

    Process information:

    Detailed authentication information:
    Logon process: Advapi
    Authentication package: negotiate
    Transited Services: -.
    Package Name (NTLM only): -.
    Key length: 0

This event is generated when a logon request fails. It is generated on the
    computer, when access was attempted.

The fields of the object indicate the account on the local system that requested the opening of session. It is more often a service such as the Server service, or a local process such as Winlogon.exe or Services.exe.

The Logon Type field indicates the type of logon that was requested. The most common types are 2 (interactive) and 3 (network).

Process information fields indicate which account and process on the system asked the logon.

Information of the network fields indicate where source opening of remote session request. Workstation name is not always available and may be left blank in
    some cases.

The authentication information fields provide detailed information
    specific logon request.
-Transit services indicate which intermediate services participated in this logon request.
-Name of the package indicates what auxiliary Protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
-Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This
will be 0 if no session key was requested.

    --------------------------------------

The part I didn't undestand, is that the "subject" is Karen (admin account). The newspaper said that Karen attempted to log in as a guest? Or the event means that someone tried to log in as a guest while Karen is logged? Also, the type of connection is 3, which should mean that someone tried to connect through the network. The system is running Vista Business.

    See this:

    http://www.EventID.NET/display.asp?eventid=4625&eventno=9984&source=Microsoft-Windows-security-auditing&phase=1

It seems that on behalf of Karen tries to a network logon with the account invited from the Explorer.

It is difficult to imagine a scenario that would cause this. Maybe something that is owned by the account invited who is attempting to access the account of Karen.

You can correlate this event with everything going on the computer, the startup, logon?

You may need to use a tool like process monitor to get more information about what causes this.
