C4780

I have a HP Photosmart C4780.  Our computer has windows 8 (64-bit).   I had initially installed the printer with USB because we did not have a network configuration.  We have since the installation of a network program and it did not work with the USB cable.  This morning, it will not print from the computer.  I have uninstalled & tried to reinstall in the past AND today, but the disk I have is for Windows XP, Vista, 7 &.  I tried to download the files of 20 c from your Web site and it won't work.  When I enter the page install, it sas 'click on install' there is no installation.  There is absolutely no option to choose.

I am FRUSTRATED NOW!  I tried to contact HP to chat online and email but I can't find the product # on my printer.  The serial number is in sight, but the number of product isn't anywhere - I tried every # I can find on the thing.  For this reason, I can not get help.  Finally, I called and got tired of waiting for help.  I've NEVER had so much trouble with HP, but this week I'm floored.  It's maddening.

Hello thatcustomer,.
Welcome to the HP Forums.

I understand that you're frustrated. You are trying only to get support for you help to install your Photosmart C4780 on your PC in Windows 8. I will do everything I can to help with this, if you wish.

As you have had difficulties on getting any support because of requireing the product number for your device, I could get to get you your model number (C4780). Here is the product number for any future needs: Q8380B.

For the problem with the installation of the software on Windows 8, I will give you two methods that you can try to get the software installed and running. In addition, a document for the installation of printer wireless on Windows 8.

First of all I would like that you try to use this utility: HP printer install wizard for Windows. It should help with download and installation of the printer software, as well as implemented with the way you want to.

If this does not work, this document will help to set up the printer on a wireless network computer: installation of the printer software for a network connection Wireless (via an Access Point). Step 3 #3 has you and load at the bottom of the software, to make you save time here's a direct link: HP Photosmart C4700 all-in-One Printer series full feature software and driver.

I hope you're able to solve the problem for you and get the printer up and re-run how you want it to be. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more assistance. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Photosmart C4780 wireless installation under 10.6

Well, I have a Photosmart C4780 printer, and I try to get connected to the network. I need to connect it wirelessly because that cable of three feet it came with just do not cut it.

I have no idea how to connect it. I see nothing on the networks in the software of the printer, and the printer itself menus are cryptic and buggy.

Any statement of Mac, I can find is for older versions using the real HP software. From what I understand, if I'm on Snow Leopard, I'll use drivers and the software I already have. The sole instructions of Snow Leopard I can find hidden only setting via the USB port.

Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Download the latest version of the software HP here

Run the program and first have the USB cable connected to the printer, you will come to a point in the configuration where you will be asked if you want to configure the wireless printer.  Confirm the configuration wireless and just the follow through.  You will need to know your wireless network security settings and benefit that your Mac is on the wireless network that you want to use with the printer.  It's pretty simple.

Hello @Williams2and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you have any questions about your ability to scan.  I would like to help!

You are connected via a USB cable or a wireless connection?

I recommend to remove printer ink cartridges and reset the power supply.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I suggest also download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Photosmart C4780 installation fails at the "system cannot find the file specified."

My problem began simply with your printer, a HP Photosmart C4780, who has always had a wireless connection and would not print.  Initially, the checked network connection fine control panel of the printer.  I ran a Microsoft printer troubleshooting, which found a block in line print and authorized.  The first test page print, but did print the "internal test page.  I did not understand what it meant, so I looked for help on the HP site.

I ran the HP print and Scan Doctorand he suggested I have reinstall the driver.  I have downloaded and saved the current HP (PS_AIO_06_C4700_USW_Full_Win_enu_140_175.exe) and then uninstalled the existing driver.  When I tried to install a new, a window pops up saying "the system cannot find the file specified," with only a single box for click that simply says "OK".  The installation went through 'examining installation options', after entering "check updates, download updates, install updates" and then it was all in "audit system", who jumped out of the window "file not found" upwards, and when I clicked 'OK', the installation window as well as the error message box simply disappeared.  Which I suppose is the path to the file is under the window, but it didn't fit so he showed not the end.  What I read was "C:\Users\... \Local\Temp\7zS588E\Setup\.\Setup\hpzpnp40...»

I found a topic on the same printer model for the same problem in the forum, which offered this hotfix:

You must first complete a level 3 of the software uninstallation. I've included the steps below to do this.

    1. press the Windows key and the letter R
    2. type %temp%, and then click OK
    3. open the 7z folder (a more recent if there are multiples)
    4 open the util folder
5 open the folder of the ccc
    6. double-click on the Uninstall_L3

Once you have completed the Uninstall_L3, delete all of the items listed in the temp folder. Note, you will not be able to remove all the elements, please ignore those that do not. Then please empty the trash and perform a clean boot. I've included the document «How to perform a boot in Windows» If your computer does not request it, restart your computer.

Once your computer is back, you must reinstall the printer software. You can do this either by using the Setup CD, or by downloading the software.

I did what was suggested, until he got to the point where it says it was the case recommend not removing any more items if I had intended on using the HP Officejet printer (Yes, I have a second HP printer connected to the network) anytime in the future.  Not really understand how it all works, I decided to stop what I was doing, so unfortunately it has not solved my problem.

Do I need to uninstall both printers HP before I can reinstall a?  And if I do that, is there a reason that I wouldn't be able to reinstall the two printers?  Looks like I'm asking trouble.  Bottom line... I can not install the driver.

I tried to install the full versions and the driver base and still get the same result.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 - 3100t for computer laptop, running Windows 7 Edition Premium, version 6.1.7601 family service pack 1 64-bit.  I have not installed new hardware or software.  This printer has always had a wireless connection.  The router I'm using is a Netgear 54Mbps WGR614 v6 (provided by my cable company) and the network includes not only my laptop and the Photosmart printer, but also desktop ASUS, HP printer, an Officejet 6300 series (used only for printing graphics and photos via a wired to the router) and a chip on Vizio TV.  I use Norton 360 first Edition and disabled the antivirus auto-protect when I downloaded and tried to install the driver.

Help, please!  And thanks in advance for your time and your attention.

Oh, Jamieson, it worked!  I can print again!  A massive amount of thanks and congratulations to you.

I couldn't believe it when he actually passed the point where it normally would stop the installation, but then almost at the end, upward jumped «Fatal error during installation»  My excitement sank into a depression.  He said while the installation was not successful and he needed to collect information in order to diagnose the fault.  I looked at what has been collected, and it was more or less gobblety-* beep * for me.  There was a code of 19714722 error condition, if that means anything.

Then he placed on my desk, the "Error of Installation HP - Windows 7.hta" file and instructed me to do away with the current window, restart, and then open the file and move forward with these guidelines.  I did and he basically had me to restart the computer once again, and then turn the printer off, unplug the printer, then unplug the router, wait 30 seconds and then plug the TAA - DAA and back in, I'm back in the business of printing.

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

All the best to you and yours!

  • Photosmart C4780 - prints extra page even after update HP driver

With the Mavericks (OS X 10.9.4) installed, I noticed that completed print jobs remain in the queue for my HP Photosmart C4780 Safari printing and preview.  If I want to print another (another page), I usually have to remove the previous work (100% full) of the queue so that the printer will print (I think remember that sometimes, with a Google Chrome browser, it is not necessary).  If I close the lid of my MacBook Pro (which goes to sleep) with a completed print job stays in queue HP, it will be then print again for a second time.

Today, I installed the updated driver, but the problem has not disappeared when I tried to print from Safari and overview.

You have an old HP software in your Applications folder, which was the Mavericks before OS?

In the meantime, download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907

    Restart your Mac.

    Reset the printing system:

-Go to System Preferences > print & Scan
-Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.

-Select the sign more to add a printer. Select the default tab on the top of the window. Search for the printer, select it, and then beside the dropdown 'Use', select the model of the printer (not AirPrint). Wait for the 'Add' button becomes available. Until it clicks.

  • HP C4780 wireless set in place with Snow Leopard

So I bought the HP C4780 printer since it's wireless and said it was easy to use.  Well up to now which seems wrong.

Here is my set up: MacBook Pro under Snow Leopard (10.6.2), Airport Express model A1264 (establishing an access point wireless in my office of the ethernet connection) and the HP C4780.  I know that the Airport Express Terminal works since I can access the internet and the rest of the office network.

Can I use the C4780 fine if I connect it directly to the MBP by USB, but I can't understand for the life of me how to connect wireless (and I don't want to connect the USB cable of the Airport Express Terminal... they are too far away without buying more cables and bat so to the point of wireless!).  All the instructions provided with the printer speak to insert the disc in place and following the installation of HP, but there was a big sticker on the box saying NOT to use the drive as all drivers are part of the leopard to snow... so basically, the instructions are useless.  Then when I look online I see no instructions specifically for Snow Leopard.  It's very frustrating!  I spent all day trying to make heads or tails of the instructions and could never make it work.

Does anyone know of some easy to follow set up instructions?  Thank you!

Try to use the method of the WPS (Wi - Fi Protected Setup) button to connect your C4780 to your Airport Express Terminal.  This linkshows how.

To activate button WPS on your C4780 method, press:

    Hello

Recently, I moved to a location that does not support printer wi - fi.

I bought a usb cable to connect my Photosmart C4780 to my pc Windows 7 64 bit and I tried the method of installation of HP usb but the printer could not be found. I also tried to use the Windows printer installation, but this also could not find the printer.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Gboy123,

Use a USB cable and let me know what happens?

HP has designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and solves many problems of printing, scanning and connectivity: The HP Print and Scan doctor. HP recommend you to download and install Print and scan doctor no matter what time you need to solve a problem with your HP printer from the link below.

  • HP C4780: C4780 not install on win 7

I installed this C4780 on several computers in win 7, however, I just put a new hard drive in my HP home computer and I installed win 7 and I'm trying to install the HP C4780 printer. I have the original installation disc for the C4780 but it only works when it wants to check the updates, just after I agree to it's terms and it just stops. I tried several different things, among them, restart the computer, downloading the program of HP and he continues to do the same.

    He made no further since.

    Thank you

    Hello

Please ensure that supports Windows 7 CD, no matter what operating system is listed on its label.

If you need to download the latest version of the software below:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=MP-71555-4&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4062&productOid=3794614&sw_lang=&product=3794615

Follow the installation up to the EULA screen and press the link Internet connection options.

Select No, thank you for the two options and press OK.

Accept the EULA and continue with the installation, which should prevent this hanging at the stage of the software update.

  • Cannot connect my Photosmart C4780 to my network wireless (home)

    Hello

I searched this forum and tried to solve my problem, but none of the elaborate suggestions.

    I have a Photosmart C4780 and am under OSX10.8

Recently, our internet provider changed our wireless router and our SSID. As a result, the printer that is connected to the original network and properly functioning has stopped working. I tried to connect the printer to the new network, but failed. He said now that the printer is connected to the hp network (something) and I can't change it for the new SSID.

Could you please tell me what to do? I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website, plugged the USB cable into the printer to try to set it up, but it says that the printer cannot find any existing network (although I'm next to the printer and connected to the intended network wireless)

Fact a little kind of hard-reset on the printer can be a good strategy? How can he do?

    Thanks in advance

    Pedro

PS: The printer works correctly when printing via USB

PS2: It is not an option to return the SSID of the router to the previous

    Hi @pedroa

You say "I have installed the software mentioned in the HP website", but there is no software for the compatible with 10.8 c4780. Mountain V10.8 OS X Lion: installing and using the printer on a Mac with the Mountain Lion.

As you know, this printer has not a wizard wireless version in the front panel instead us would typically connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer and run the installation wizard.

Because you have 10.8 on Mac, and it there is no full feature software and drivers, you won't be the configuration wizard, to configure the printer. You may be wondering now, well how can I set up then?  Good question, we will restore the default network printers and the printer will have its own IP address designed for whats called an Ad-Hoc connection (wireless router). We will put the computer on the network printer and then print a report to get the printers IP address. At this point, we can access the built-in web server (EWS) and run the wireless from there. Once the printer on the network with the router, we can put the computer on the network and vuala that the printer and the computer will be on your network.

To restore the default network settings - since you have done this before I guess you know how, but for others who can see the message, here are the steps

    1. Press the wireless button
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Scroll and select default network.  Press Yes to recognize
    4. The radio turns off (the blue LED turns off).  You may need to press the wireless button to turn on wireless

Put the computer on the network printer (temporary)

    1. click on the symbol of the airport on the upper left side of the screen Mac
    2. choose the network looking compared to the printer (we could say a variant of the name of your printer or HP setup) - it may take a few minutes to make it appear

Print the wireless network test - wait a few minutes to make sure the computer have established an ad hoc connection, otherwise the report will not have an IP address

    1. Press the Scan button (it also the wireless menu button)
    2. Select wireless settings
    3. Testing wireless access, then select.

The wireless network Test prints, search and note the IP address.

Open a browser (Safari) and enter the IP address in the URL (address bar).

Click on the network, on the left tab, click on wireless or 802.11.

At this point, we are looking at fore 'start the wizard' should be on the right side.

As soon as we will have to set up the printer to your network, you can put your computer on your own network.

Now you can add the printer in system preferences and print

Please let me know if that fixes the problem, thanks.

    Hi winter1420,

I see that you want to print using only the color on your Photosmart C4780 cartridge. I'd be happy to help you with that

Looking the Page 50 of your User Guide, I would say that Yes, it is possible to configure the printer to print with just the cartridge three colors. Please note that your black from the color cartridge is perhaps not exactly black as explained on page 50 in the Guide of the user as well.

Hope that helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions!
