Yes, you can switch to Vista 64-bit 32-bit Win7, but not via an upgrade in Place: you will have to make a "new installation (Advanced)" Win7 32 bit.

  • Windows 7 (64 bit) - smartmenu does not

    Hello

I have re-installed windows 7 after that hdd has stopped working. I did it to each update (update of windows assistant hp, etc.). But my smartmenu does not work properly. I would like to use keyboard shortcuts for volume control (it works but I can't see what I'm doing; + or - the voice), webcam (can't find the quick icon) and other things.

    Is there anything missing?

BTW, the system restore dvd, I made did not work when I need them. I spend 10 DVDs for this (4 of them gave error by making the copy). So I had to install the iso of windows in a foreign language for me!

    Kind regards

    Hello

If its reports that it has not installed properly, it may be worth trying the following.

First of all, if HP MediaSmart SmartMenu is listed in programs and features, right click, select uninstall and when finished, restart the laptop.

Download the installer again and save it to your folder Dwonloads.

HP MediaSmart SmartMenu - Windows 7.

download and install the Installer x 64 64-bit .msi on the link below.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

open your download folder, click with the right button on the HP MediaSmart SmartMenu Installer, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files, and then click Ok.  Open the newly extracted folder and go to SmartMenu\hp\tmp\src, then click with the right button on SmartMenuSetup64 and select "Run as Administrator".

When finished, restart the computer again and let Windows load completely for a few minutes before checking it in.

  • Windows 7 64 bit, Winupdate does not.

Hi, I asked to make a new specific thread for my question.

I have an Acer Aspire 5741 G computer laptop that I bought 3 days ago, I had Windows 7 Home premium (64-bit), and I can't use windows update. It came with Mcafee antivirus and some internet Norton Security, I uninstall both right to the race start, I don't like one of them.

I don't have any other firewall or antivirus on the computer, except windows defender that I don't know how to disable.

    1. download and Save AppRemover

    2. Although this page States that the Fixit does not apply to Windows 7, this is the case, download and Save it.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    3. once download completed, read this - using AppRemover

    4. Configure the boot cleaning system

    5. once the system has been rebooted to clean boot state, run AppRemover, choose remove a security application and remove any debris detected McAfee and Norton.

    6. now run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi and choose his Aggressive mode with the system connected to the internet.
Restart the system for the clean boot state, once it is completed.

    7. see if the system can search for and detect the updates needed now by opening Windows Update in Control Panel.

    8. If the system can find and detected the necessary updates, you can either try to download and install while remaining in the clean boot state, or configure the system to boot into normal mode of Windows and see if she can find, detect, download, and install necessary updates.

    9. you must always install antivirus software. Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials are both free, reliable and works well with Windows 7.
Then create a Standard user account in order to avoid most malware infections that are caused by vulnerabilities in the OS (approximately 64%).

  • Why windows 7 (64 bit) download does not work for a hp officejet 5610 all-in-one?

I changed operating systems from XP to Windows 7 (64 bit) on a new Toshiba Portege laptop and downloaded the new drivers from the HP site for my all-in-one Officejet 5610.  Nothing went well.  I can print but not scan, and often copy is extremely slow for no apparent reason.

I deleted the driver downloaded several times and re-uploaded to start from scratch, but get the message "Fatal error during installation."  I used HP correction for this, did everything it says and ran the download as an administrator.  When the "USB connection" screen, I connect the USB as requested, and I hear my computer accepts this connection.   But the HP installer does not accept or acknowledge inserting the USB key.  It hangs at that time here, and keeps installation disc FOREVER chasing the USB connect screen.

When I open the HP Solution Center, he informs me that he cannot work because the download of device is not complete.

There is no file 'help' in the menu 'start '.

I'm running out of ideas on how to make my printer work properly with the new Windows 7 system.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

In the case where you hear the ding that the USB cable is connected and that the software does not recognize it, it means that at any given time you connected to the computer via the USB port before running the software. When you do so, Windows takes over and tries to install their own drivers. That causes problems later, when you try to use the software, as it will then not connect when you use the USB cable.

In this case, you must connect via the usb port and go into Device Manager and remove everything related to your printer. After you do this, unplug the USB cable and restart your computer. When starting BACK, run the software FIRST and then when he asks the USB cord this time, it should recognize the connection.

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (winodws.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • Upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit and want to be able to access data files

    I have a question about upgrading to a 64-bit Windows 7 installation.

I am currently using windows 7 32 bit and want to upgrade to 64 - bit. I use a second hard drive internal for the backup, and I was wondering, if I have my files on the second backup drive and upgrade the primary drive to 64-bit, it will still be able to recognize and read the secondary drive, because how the files were written it on a 32 bit OS?
I wanted to just make sure before you move forward.

The installation does not affect that the system drive, but you should backup or disconnect the drive or you accidentally select the wrong drive during installation.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/07/using-Windows-easy-transfer-in-Windows-7/

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • Windows 7 (64-bit) and 5.2 of NI-Visa

    Hello

    I use Windows 7 64-bit and has just installed TS/LV2012 and NI-Visa 5.2

Then I started MAX and that you want to add a new instrument of TCPIP, but it says: "NI-VISA is not installed on this system or NI-VISA does not support the creation of new resources on this type of system.

So I wonder: neither Visa 5.2 is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit? Because on the site, it is only "WIndows Vista" in the product description.

    Thx for the help

Additional information: TS/LV is installed on a WIndow7 that runs in a VirtualBox Image. This can be also a problem?

    His works now.

After I've run all Windows updates in the VirtualBox the VISA was also Max.

  • Install Windows 7 64 bit and Vista 32 bit on the same drive

I have Vista 32 bit installed on my laptop. Media recovery is on a recovery partition, I have no recovery DVD such as $85 for something that should be included with my expensive laptop anyway, it is a bit much

I have a drive to upgrade Windows 7 from my laptop manufacturer that allows me to each upgrade or to start from scratch.

I want to install Windows 7 64 bit on a separate partition for the installation of my 32-bit Vista, but when I boot on the DVD there is no option to select the 32 or 64 bit, it only allows me to install the 32-bit version. I have partitions installed correctly then they arnt the problem. If I try to boot from the recovery partition to install Vista 64 bit on a separate partition, to upgreade can leave, he simply don't say so, it doesn't allow the recovery or replacement of my existing Vista installation. Also, often when I boot to recovery mode, by organizing 0 start up, he simply waits some time and the Vista of boots in any case.

How should I do to dual boot Windows 7 64 bit and Vista 32-bit, as all possible ways I have tried do not work, and I can't afford to buy the madmen of... Toshiba recovery media ?

The 'disc Windows 7 from the manufacturer of your laptop upgrade' can be used to improve the qualification system of operating from 32-bit of Windows Vista that was originally installed on the laptop.  It cannot be used for any other configuration or purpose. Carey Frisch

Actually, this isn't just a "upgrade drive" it's a full disc of Windows 7, I know that I can install full Windows 7 32 bit in a separate partition for Vista.

The problem is solved in any case, I managed to hide my Vista (C) install with Acronis and boot to the WIndows 7 DVD. It then allowed me to install Windows 7 64 bit on the other Partition, because he did not think that 32-bit Windows Vista has been installed on the HARD drive. I managed to deceive it by showing the menu options of 32 bits or 64 bits in this way... I assumed it was a protection system put in place by Microsoft to stop upgrade problems if soemone tried upgrade Vista 32, Windows 7 64

Now under Vista 32 and Widnws 7 64 on the same computer.
