Computer laptop Windows 8 does not load in front of a black screen. Any ideas?

My Windows 8 portable (only 6 months) does not load it just starts with a black screen after it has passed windows screen load. Last thing I did on the laptop was an update of the system. Unable to get into safe mode or anything just stuck on the black screen with the mouse cursor. Can anyone help please?

Hi Stewart,

Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

You can follow these methods and check if it works:

Method 1: Unplug all external devices connected to the computer except keyboard, mouse and monitor and check if the problem persists.

Method 2: If the method above does not help, then you can follow the steps in the below mentioned Microsoft article and check.

Windows 8 starts with a blank screen after a standard or hibernation

Thank you. Please come back for any clarification on this or any issue of Windows. We will be happy to help you.

  • Computer HP laptop window vista does not load please help

someone asked this question and I have the same problem!

I have a laptop HP who have dirtied pre-installed Vista and for some reason after installing automatically 3 updates the other day, he is not now charge up. The laptop is plugged in so it can configure 3 updates without failure (due to something like battery dying).

When the laptop turns on, it gives me two options:
    • Start the reboot system (recommended)
    • Start Windows normally
If I click on 'Launch Startup Repair', he comes back to do the same screen with them two options and when I click on "Start Windows normally", the laptop everything restarts and then return to this screen.
Thus, F8-ing it does not help either - it gives me options like computer repair, Mode safe mode, last known good, etc... but none of these helped either.
I looked around online for a solution, but most say on the use of the Vista installation CD, but the operating system is installed on a partition on the laptop (also there are files on what I would come down)... However I do not know if I can get it to boot on the installation partition either
    I tried F8, F11, F12 and nothing works

If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

  • Computer laptop Windows XP does not start.

My laptop does not start. When I first put it on the screen says 'we apologize... ". Windows does not start automatically in... "Then the Windows XP screen as it tries to load there is this small blue screen that appears a second microphone, too fast to read, then goes back to 'we apologize...". "screen just keeps looping. I thought that my hard drive was going badly, so I ordered a new. I have XP SP3. Could someone help me please?

    Hi robestes3,

    1. When did you start to question?

    2. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Method 1:

First of all, you can tryLast good known Configuration and check if helps solve the problem.

    Check out the link:

How to start your computer by using last good known Windows XP Configuration

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307852

    Method 2:

    Step 1:

If the above method does not work, then you can try to start in safe mode and check if the problem occurs.

Check out the link for more information on starting your computer in SafeMode below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Step 2:

If you can boot into safe mode without any problem, and then try to perform a clean boot. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If your problem is resolved after the clean boot, and then follow the steps mentioned in the article above to refine the exact source:

In addition, after you resolve the problem, see the section on how to restore your computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Computer laptop Windows XP does not start? Help

Hi I have a windows xp laptop I think that their system eis or something like that... Whenever I start the laptop, he's going on the error you get when your dosent laptop shut down correctly. If I click on start normally the bar will spend about a quarter of the way and then just stayed forever and only safe mode also gets a freeze from then. Y at - it something wrong with the laptop or what. How can I get my laptop to work again... someone help me please.

It is up to tell you to us what brand of system and the model is... not "system ist or something like that."

When you choose to start safe mode and you can see all the stuff being loaded and the system crashes, which is the last line on the screen to say?

If you attached an external equipment, especially USB devices, disconnect everything and then you can see if things seem better.

If you get an error message windows system config, exactly what he says?

    No error paraphrased messages please!

    It was something like this:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Which usually indicate some sort of corruption of system files may be a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (This includes the plug pulling, buttons power and removing the battery).  None of this seems familiar?

If you can boot from a CD, you can create a CD bootable XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console and run chkdsk with correction of errors on the afflicted to start System.

    Here's how:

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget what you have (no XP media required).

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD (do not install UniBlue or the Ask Toolbar - never!):

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

  • Computer laptop HP G62 does not load

I have a hp G62 154-canotebook. About 6 months ago, there was a problem with the cooling system (nothing to do with the fan a kind of plate), but fortunately it has been supported by my warranty with hp.  Three months after my battery problem has started; He emptied so quickly that I had to keep my computer plugged in all the time. I decided to buy a battery but rather than having a 6-cell with battery life ridiculously down, I decided to replace it with a 12 cell. A new set of problems started, my computer began to load intermitenty, until it collapsed alltogether charge and basically could not start. A few weeks back, I tried my old battery on the computer and it started, but I couldn't always reboot my computer. I don't think that the charger is at fault. I think the problem is internal. Using a battery 12 cells, which was not compatible with my computer was not a good idea. A clue to understand my problem is the fan of my computer become more noisy and turned more quickly for a minute before returning to normal. I want to fix mine and I'm looking for clues on how to solve this problem. If you can help my giving the easy solution will be appreciated and I. If you can not I would like to know how to go about learning how to repair a laptop, hp can provide me with a model of my model? etc.

Recently, I bought my used console. My laptop's overview of Windows 8 consumers. I tried everything I could think of and the instructions I found on the Xbox site, nothing done. Before I posted this, I also tried things left to people with similar problems in the answers in this forum. I tried manually assign the IP addresses of my two Xbox and PC, disabling my Windows and the firewall of the router, restart Windows Media Player sharing service, allowing the streaming on my Xbox which appeared in my streaming options, disconnect and reconnect my Xbox and PC on my network of countless times and shout and scream about the whole situation.

I tried not to open the ports because that I have disabled any firewall that I don't see. I have McAfee installed, but my subscription has expired so I uninstalled. I am at a loss for what to do because I tried everything I read and thought. We have 4 PC in our House and everyone but mine my console can detect and disseminate. Three of the four run Windows 7 Home Premium x 64, the 4th with Vista 32 bit. All the computers are on the same network and all. I tried ping my Xbox to my PC and it timed out every time, but my PC does not detect it in a way because it shows in my options on my PC for streaming media. There must be something with my PC and Windows 7 only because like I said before, everything has worked at the time where it ran Windows 8. Anyone can end this madness?

Never mind. I thought about it. I restarted the SSDP Discovery service that restarted the services necessary to make this work.

    1. enter in BIOS
    2. restore default values
    3. exit & save changes

Youre system should boot in AHCI now again. If you get the same message:

    1. enter in BIOS
    2. go in advanced
3 set mode Compatible HARD drive / IDE
    4. exit & save changes

To enter the BIOS F2 press until you initialize (directly after pressing the power key press F2 continiously).

  • my laptop Windows 8 does not illuminate

Hi, I have problems turning on my PC Toshiba laptop wibdows 8. I loaded for about an hour and tried to turn it on, but that has not worked. The battery does indeed pay when I plug in the adapter, but the laptop itself still does not even turn on when I press the power button. Can someone help me with this you problem?

    Hello Valelow,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As described in the question, I understand you have a problem with turn your PC laptop Toshiba in Windows 8.

I understand that it must be very frustrating when all of a sudden your computer power not on. However, we will work to get this problem solved with our combined efforts. If there is something related to Windows, we will certainly address this problem.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

    1. You see any signal or any beep code when you press the power button?
    2. Have you checked out the battery and start the computer while the computer connected directly to the power?
    3. Off the computer is correctly the last time?

Especially this kind of problems appears due to the failure of the part, but sometimes it can also be caused due to static electric lock. We can try to change the time to flee or be able to release the static power and check if that helps.

It's actually a very simple step that usually solves problems such as issues of power no. and blank screens.

    1. Remove the battery and then disconnect the connected AC adapter.
    2. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then release.
    3. Reinsert the battery and then reconnect the AC adapter.
    4. Turn on the computer.

If the problem persists, I suggest you obtain a diagnosis of material performed on the computer from the computer manufacturer or store local tech.

Hope this information is useful. Please let us know the results. Do not hesitate to write back for any further assistance with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

  • Screen on my laptop Windows 8 will not load?

The home screen on my laptop Windows 8 (Asus) is not at all responsible. The start screen is the page where you have all the applications, and you can customize the background as well giving him different combinations of colors and patterns in different model. My splash screen background color is between clear and dark green. Just as I said, the splash screen does not load. It's been like that since I've been on the phone a few hours ago - this means that none of the app buttons that show the applications load, and when I search apps, nothing will come either. It is only up like green color background, that I mentioned earlier. I'm worried when I go about it tomorrow, I won't be able to go on any of the applications, making me not to go on my laptop at all. What should I do?

    Hi Daniel,.

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that the splash screen does not load in your system to Windows 8. However, I would like to know some more information to refine the question and provide you with better assistance.

    1. What exactly happens when nothing loads on the screen? Do you have only a black background or color without any apps?
    2. What is the model No. for your ASUS notebook?
    3. How did you install Windows 8 (a new installation or an upgrade installation)?
    4. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

This issue could be due to various reasons like an incompatible device or a bad installation or because of some corrupted Boot files. If you are unable to boot your system, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

To check if this problem is due to a compatibility issue with external devices, I suggest you to disconnect all external devices and check if the problem persists.

    Method 2:

If you have the disc to install Windows 8 with you, you can insert the installation disc and enter the Windows recovery environment for auto repair. See the following steps:

    (a) when your computer starts, wait for the logo of the manufacturer check the option of start menu, it will usually F12.

    (b) restart the computer, press the Boot menu option key to enter the boot menu and change the option to boot to DVD rom

    (c) Insert the disc of Windows 8 and restart the computer, it will boot to the Windows recovery environment.

    (d) click on Troubleshooting, advanced option and then click on auto repair.

    Method 3:

If you have a disk to install Windows 8 with you, then I suggest you to perform a verification of the file system. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupt system files that might cause this problem. See the following steps to perform a scan SFC:

    (a) follow the same steps above to enter in the Windows recovery environment.

    (b) click Troubleshooting, then Advanced options , and click command prompt.

    (c) in the command prompt, type the following command: sfc/scannow , and then press ENTER.

    (d) now, to restart the computer.

    (e) check if the problem persists.

If you are able to start on the screen, then I suggest to try the steps posted by Praseetha K Nair said on November 18, 2012 in the following link:

Windows 8 start screen and Apps does not

Warning: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed after this date are deleted.
