cRIO, FPGA, portability to different configuration of module e/s

Hello people!

For my research project, I need support.

I have to implement the NO-tutorial: "CompactRIO Control Design and Simulation Tutorial" on different hardware.

My cRIO-9004 is no problem and the NI9104 chassis is the same.

Occure in problems with the config of the i/O-Modules:

Tutorial-config: Slot5 = NI9505, Slot8 = NI9221

MyDevice-config: Slot1 = NIcRIO-9215, Slot2 = NI9263, Slot3 = NI9217, Slot4 = NI9474, Slot5 = NIcRIO-9423

I think that there should be a smart way to port this programm for a different config and change the I/O-link with another module without neckshoot the programm. do not know how, because I am a newbie of LabView.

your ff

Hi ffelix,

The tutorial works with a 9505 (H-Bridge for Servos) movement Module and a Module of the 9221.

In your configuration, you HAVE some, a zone of OCCUPATION, an RTD, a DI and a Module, but none Module movement to control a Servo.

So if you plan to do a similar Assembly, you must use the AO Module or a Module (PWM) with an external driver circuit to control a motor. And rather than use the software NOR Motion, which I think is used in the tutorial, you will need to program the motor by yourself from scratch part on.

  • Is it possible to choose between different targets (different configurations NI 6587) FPGA through the host VI

    Hello

I use card FPGA 7966R with Module of e/s 6587. I have two sets of screws FPGA, one that uses 6587 mode series (Serdi channel) and the other in parallel mode (Serdi connector). I'm trying to select one of the FPGA VIs via the host VI and I don't know if it's possible.

    Some things to note:

    • All IOs have the same names, FIFO has the same data type and name.
    • Because they use the IO 6587 controller in a different configuration, I can't parallelize them and combine them into a single VI.

  • Can I detect if a module is present in CRIO FPGA?

I have a chassis cRIO-9073 controller with 8 NI 9237 modules. I intend to use FPGA readings - not the analytical engine. Can I detect if a module is present or not in my FPGA VI? If not, is there a way to do within the VI to host RT? (This is my first project cRIO so I'm still a little green). I can foresee my client who needs to replace a module in the future and having to always operate the system with the remaining modules - the system should be robust and adaptible to default conditions.

    Hi TJohnsen,

Yes, you can use this set of screws: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/1717

    I hope this helps.

  • NEITHER 9234: sampling rate: cRIO, FPGA

For the NI 9234 module, before Panel block diagram of my my cRIO FPGA code is as below.

The sampling rate (speed) is selectable between certain values as shown below.

You have an idea how I can do the sample with a lower rate that is smaller than the option of character (1.652 ksps / s)?

    Hi Cashany,

Take a look at this link. Page 16 describes the limitation that you run in. The main time base are divided essentially only toward down to some data because of the way the camera rates physically handles analog and digital filitering. So it's not really a way to divide the beyond that point.

I am aware of the syntax for create virtual channels for the channels DAQmx create virtual so I created two strings using Dev3 / ai0:1 but I would like the first string of the CSR and the second to be differential.
So far I have found no way to specify the configuration of the separate channels.

This weird issue has finally been resolved.

    Couple notes:

-in 11 GR 2 you do not select a module as Source/target in the page Wizard. (not sure where is it defined yet)

-do not follow the old tutorial, instead that follow for the new version:

And I guess you have to give permission to your schema specified target to select your source.

  • How to read the status of User1 DIP-switch with a cRIO FPGA chassis?

How to read the State of the DIP switches on a FPGA cRio chassis?

I work with a cRIO 9022... My idea is to put the system in "service" mode with USER1 switch to IT and communicate with the FPGA via the FPGA - GUI (VI) on the host computer instead via the RT module that is used in normal conditions.

Any ideas? Unfortunately, I don't have an unused channel on the left... .and (as I know) cannot use the interface RS232 of FPGA.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Luke

Hi, this is the correct information. You cannot read the FPGA of DIP-switch status. The only thing you could do is to use the function of Reading Switch.vi located under the range of functions-> real-> utilities RT time

It's how you probably know side host RT and not the FPGA.

  • Deploy the cRIO/FPGA project on identical targets

All, I apologize that this seems to be a frequently asked question, but I'm wondering if anyone has the tricks in their bag.  I'm looking to create several identical parts of a tester, and I'm looking for the most effective way to have a unique (RTexe and FPGA bitfile) code base that I can deploy on a bunch of cRIO-9035.

My best case scenario is that I can compile for a chassis and deploy for the rest, because I won't be able to support long-term material and which would minimize the possibility of errors creeping in different compilations presents (and make it easier on anyone that upgrades the equipment later).  In addition, it is about half an hour to recompile everything for a new chassis, which is just a pain.

    What think you of all?

    Thank you
    Jeff

Use the utility of replication and deployment (RAD).  It is a tool developed by the engineers of system OR specially for this purpose.  The underlying idea is to get a working system and then you take a picture of him.  You can then deploy this image to the rest of your controllers.

  • Thermocouple configured in module module-9221

    Hi all!

    Nice day!

I try to configure thermocouples type K 6 through the NOR-9221 analog input module and chassis cDAQ-9174. I'll be able to get the direct temperature readings outside this module not being a thermocouple module? Otherwise? Please suggest me how to get the temperature for this add-on module-9221 directly! Quick help will be very appreciated!

    Best regards!

    Tajim

To build on what the broken arrow, the 9221 is really not at all optimal for measurement by thermocouple.  Most of the measures by thermocouple are between 0 to 80 mV.  The module 9221 is a 12-bit with a range of ±60V module.  The width of the code for this module is about 15 mV and your accuracy is 156 mV.  All your thermocouple readings will be lost in the noise for this add-on.  I would recommend the 9211 or the 9213 for measurement by thermocouple, because each has CYC and is specially designed for thermocouples.  If you want to try an external amplifier, which can run, but you will probably need something that can amplify from 0 to 80 mV to 0 - 60V.

    Kind regards

  • CRIO/FPGA code to run locally

So I'm currently write code that will run on a cRIO (the processor in real-time and FPGA).  Is there a way that I can run on my computer without be hung to the material?  I do not have easy access to the material and would really like to test the behavior of my code.

    Hello

You can create a cRIO in your LV project without having the hardware, you can compile the FPGA code and run in simulation mode too, but you cannot run the code of RT.

  • Optimization of DMA in the Code in time real (cRIO FPGA-> RT)

    Howdy,

I am acquiring data from a microphone using the NI9234 module.  I wrote my RT and FPGA code.  I am communication of data between the FPGA and RT layers using a DMA FIFO.  I noticed that the layer of RT has difficulty to empty the FIFO, since the FPGA layer runs at a much faster pace.  I would like some pointers or suggestions on stupid things I do in the layer of RT that are causing it to run more slowly than necessary.

Currently, my RT code simply opens the FPGA reference in a loop, extracts data from the FIFO and writes to a file.  I know that if I want to plot the data or perform an FFT on it, I would in a loop of lower priority, for not to slow down the data streamed from the FIFO.  Are there accessories simple performance that I'm missing in my code?  Thank you.

I enclose a copy my code FPGA and RT (screenshots and screw), so that you can watch.

I would seriously consider redesigning completely the code and using this reference request model.

    http://zone.NI.com/DevZone/CDA/tut/p/ID/9196

There are reference points that show how this model makes.  With the acquisition of waveform, there are a lot of optimization.  This referenace application addresses all these to give you the best performance.

  • cRIO can't doscover my SEA 3G module

    Hello

I didn't ' t assume that anyone who is familiar with the SEA compatible communication Mobile 3 G Module 9721 cRIO?

Basically, I want to access GSM on the mdule since the cRIO send an SMS when a certain condition is reached. I used the example of SMS-code with the module connected to my PC via ethernt host and it works perfectly but when I directly connect the cRIO module and set the code to know the IP address of module, it times out.

I've been in contact with the SEA on several occasions, but they were of no help at all. I'm just wondeinrg so maybe someone could have used this module before and know where I am going wrong? Any help is very appreciated,

    Hi Kelly,

I'm glad to hear that you are successful with the cRIO and the module of the SEA. We invite you to ask the community for assistance if you encounter other problems.

I recharge and recovery of the module and I consider the State as always state of recovery. So my question is looking for there is a problem with the module itself?

    Sari,

Even if there is not a physical module services fire power management port, it uses Management0/0 port to connect to the module of SFR.  If you like on the same VLAN as your server VLAN on the SAA plug Management0/0 port on a switch that is sharing the network server VLAN and give the module SFR an IP address on the same subnet.

Make sure that you remove the statement under interface Management0/0 nameif. Here is an example:

    interface Management0/0
    management only
    No nameif
    security-level 100
    no ip address
