Custom VIBs WARNING

Hi all

I'm fairly new to VMware ESX; but have been responsible for the modernization of our 4 ESX host to ESXi 5.1 in order to take advantage of the capabilities of 64-bit.  I backed up virtual machines and engaged in the installation "update" forced... During the upgrade, I got warned about the existence of "Custom VIBs having product on the ISO. ["vmware-esx-pilots-net-igb"] " I din't know what to do at the time so I clicked on continue.

Installation is complete and the host came back upwards as well as virtual machines. However when you try to connect to our SAN (EMC AX4 - 5i) storage I see warnings about an HBA initiator that is now inactive.


I don't know if this is related to the upgrade Message; but after some research, I discovered that I shouldn't do a forced upgrade and I should have «...» Created a custom ISO with VIBs»

How do I:

  1. Find the drivers this message refers to
  2. and install it on my 5.1 ESXi host
  3. Without having to rebuild the host from scratch?

Go to the Configuration tab on the host computer, then storage adapters.  Do you see a software iSCSI initiator listed?  Generally, he gave a name as vmhba33.  Your card intel may have capacity iSCSI integrated, in which case you could see several stated iSCSI cards if they were detected.

If the pilot does not settle for the 4 Intel NIC, you probably would not see them listed under network either cards... in this case, you definitely need the driver.

    My custom VIBs will disappear when the hotfix is applied?

    The installation of a lot of patches will replace the vibs included in the package, so if there are additional vibs will not be affected. In any case, what you can do to do this is to run the command with the -dry - run option to find out what will be changed. Other use install , you can also run the command esxcli with Update replacing vibs that have been updated.

  • Loops of startup Boot VMware 5.5.0 on F2 and F11 line display

    I just tried to update / one of my VMware hosts migrate from version 4.1 to 5.5.0. When I restart the system once the upgrade has completed it gets regarding the final normal screen display which must show the name of the server address IP etc and the line inside who has 'F2 '....      F11... ». What happens is that it continually flashes only the 'F2...»  F11... " line. If I turned off the server and restart start VMware 4.1 successfully. I have not lost any data.  Whereas the upgrade / migration says it cannot restore. I am impressed that somehow mine did.

    Any ideas how I can get to upgrade properly and start?

    During the upgrade the only error message I get is a "Custom VIBs warning' during the prechecks.

    I continued with the migration by ignoring these.

    VIB "vmware-esx-epsec-vfile" I think East of vShield Endpoint that could be the cause of the problem. The original server was using Trend Micro deep Security which I removed and restore the server. I did not delete vShield.

    Do you know how I can remove this VIB? Removing it will cause a problem?

    VIB "vmware-esx-pilots-net-igb" I think will require just download good and their installation to version 5.5.

    Should what steps I take to get 5.5.0 upward and work?

    I got about 30 VMhost and wondering if it is possible to enumerate all of these custom VIb before I level to ESXi.

  • Upgrade from 5.1 to 5.5 - DELL Incompatible ISO custom ESXi

    When attempting to upgrade a DELL PowerEdge server running ESXi 5.1 to 5.5, Manager of update of the 'Inconsistent' due to Broadcom VIB reports.

    You can also choose to migrate by force and it will run the installation.  I think after that he will keep the existing VIBs that are installed, but I have not tested on.

    Using the option migrate from Force could cause the host improved to not start successfully, to expose the system instability or lose functionality. If you upgrade a host support custom VIBs 5.0.x, which are not included in the ESXi ISO Installer are migrated. There is no need to select the option migrate by Force.     Unfortunately, neither the VMware KB or Google gave me a research... but maybe you can give me a hint :-) (ok, honestly I didn't enter the 100-digit error code).

    I think you should install new esx 5.5 u1 and not to do an upgrade. You can keep the data store, if you want, but if possible just to do a new install.

  • ESXi 4.1 U1 to 5.0 - Clarifications upgrade upgrade

    Thanks to ESXi 4.1 U1, I get the now familiar 'warning' custom VIBs are installed:

    • OEM-VMware-ESX-Drives-net-vxge
    • OEM-VMware-ESX-Drives-SCSI-3W-9xxx

    The guests I want to spend to ESXi 5.0 fortunately do not have this hardware.  Upgrade options I have are:

    • Force to migrate ESXi, preserve the VMFS datastore
    • Upgrade to ESXi, preserve the VMFS datastore

    Question 1: Which option of upgrade would you give guys to think that I use for the upgrade to ESXi 5.0 and preserve my datastore (best practices)?  The formulation "moving force" doesn't sound good.

    Question 2: Is it true that none of these options will spend my store of data existing VMFS 3.0 to 5.0?

    The option "Force migrate" will make an upgrade to preserve the VMFS and migrating your settings (network configuration,...) while the installation option will install an own ESXi - also with the VMFS intact - but without migrate your configuration.

    According to the description, it seems that you have found an error message "ntoskrnl.exe" is missing. I'll be happy to help you in this problem.

    -Did you do changes on the computer before this problem?

    Method 1: I suggest to disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse, then try to start the computer.

    Method 2: Start the computer in last know check and good configuration if this can help.

    Around 0:05 AM GMT, errors have occurred. HP Solution Center asked to restart the computer.     I recommend you to download the latest version of the HP Support Assistant software on this site:

    http://www.hp.com/go/hpsupportassistant.

    Then, uninstall the Add/Remove programs function HPSA and install the latest application that already download you it from the link above.

    I've updated the BIOS, video drivers, sound card drivers.  I had the exclamation on 2 "devices, Bluetooth unknown" that I went and actually stop points in the BIOS to get rid of them.  Any help would be appreciated!  A work-around, I'm considering is all simply not using sleep/turn into hibernation and just off... or just leaving perpetually.  I would have obviously preferred a solution.

  • Computer laptop bluescreens with BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER after you have closed the lid

    My HP with Windows 7 X 64 laptop recently started giving the bluescreens with
    BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER immediately after I close the lid and open new, as well as when the computer tries to stop.
    I don't know what type of newspapers I can post to display more clearly the problem or where I can find them, guidance would be appreciated on this topic.

  • Need help with screen Blus of death (BSOD) on my computer toshiba laptop

    Hello all, Ive had a little last week, or problems with my laptop. While playing a game (minecraft), I would randomly have a BSOD error and my laptop will re-start. Initially, I gave it no thought, but when it happened again, I decided to try to do a little research, but I'm not terrible with technology and other then I'm neither the case with my own research.

    If someone could point me in the direction of a few possible ways to get this problem.

    guys do you propose I make to the store and see if they can check it out, what would I need if I did.

    I got a program to read some sort of file "dump" made when occurs a BSOD, I publish what this program here says? the program is BlueScreenView, if yes, what I have post the spectator thing? There are has 2 main screens on it, SDO as Sho different dump files (which is on the top) and on the bottom, it lists the names of different files for each dump file I think that some of them highlighted.

    im not this product with tech so I don't know much but I need to post anything on my laptop or any information of the dumpfile and would have this info help in any way to determine the problem? just tell me what I have to post and ill get the information displayed in a response, thank you.

    PS: I don't think that playing minecraft is the cause of the BSOD and crashing, but I only get it when playing minecraft, so I don't know if minecraft is causing accidents and others. I watch videos and this all the time and I never have an accident. I'll try and play a different game and see if this causes my laptop down and the cause is perhaps high usuage to my laptop, as I've said games require a lot of power of a laptop/computer, if they are not the 'best' laptop for games. but yh, if someone thinks they can help me and need some information please tell me so I can get it for you. If you guys think it would be best to get a professional to look just mylaptop say, however im save as a last resort.

    I got this without my notice:

    Now, I want to go back to my old files with the first administrator account. Also, I would like to know why.
