Defective disk sector causes Illustrator down

Recently, I had a bad sector on my hard drive. I am running Illustrator CS on a XP. After running disk check everything seemed to be back to normal, until I ran Illustrator. Initially failed to load on the same policy, but now it seems to be random. I tried to unload it, but Illustrator does not appear in the Uninstall list.

As a last resort, I tried to recharge on the current copy, but when I got on the screen of both the accept/decline buttons sat on the text and do not work.

Yes, this version of Illustartor is a moldy oldie, but that's all I can afford right now. The work that is delayed because of this problem is supposed to help me buy the upgrade (and perhaps a new computer).

I sent a note to support at the beginning of this past week, but I have not heard back. I need this to be solved so I can finish this work.

Having a bad sector on your hard disk, and then to have these bad sectors 'repaired' (which means either mapped exclusion or fragments of files "reconecting") does not mean that data from corrupted in these areas are more corrupt. In other words, a disk utility may not fix the code of a program that is damaged due to a disk failure. Of the disk failure can be corrected (or effectively hidden), but disk utility can't re - install Illustrator for you. If the utility can tell you that 'all is well' but it just means that all the sectors currently used are good, and the fragments of files they contain are mapped to each other in the correct order. This does not mean that data that is located on these sectors does not appear.

Looks like you need to reinstall Illustrator, but now keeps the previous installation. A complete reformat of the drive may be in order. I don't know of anyway to correct with reliability the confusion resulting in the Windows registry becomes blurred.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - disk hard keeps spinning down

Hi, I have recently updated the BIOS on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L20, and I noticed that the disk hard keeps spinning down after about a minute, even while typing or surfing on the internet. I checked the power settings Windows XP and have it put on the desk, with the time 'Disable hard drive' set to 5 minutes when it is plugged and 5 minutes on battery (I always use on the same network). I checked the BIOS settings to see if there is something listed there, but there are no settings for hard disk power management in the BIOS.

Although the turning down of the hard disk does not affect performance, I fear that it may be to focus on rising constant power drive / descent.
The new version of BIOS is 25 April 06 Windows Bios Update for Satellite L20 (PSL2X), Satellite Pro L20 (PSL2Y) and Equium L20 (PSL2Z)', or a file 2, 20 - WIN.

I think that it s nothing unusual that the HARD drive keeps spinning down applies none or BONES need the HARD disk activity.
In addition, the turning down of the HARD drive has no effect from the bottom on the performance of the HARD disk or over the life of the HARD drive.

So, you could tell me the official tools to check the hardware? Do I have to leave my laptop at my shop?

    Thank you very much.

    Official tools?
I can recommend you to download the freeware tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Test
With this tool, you can check the HARD drive for a possible malfunction.

In case your HARD drive is defective, I recommend that you contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country. Because the laptop is covered by the standard warranty, the defective HARD drive be replaced free of charge.

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

  • Ultimate Vista x 64 defective disk

Vista ultimate x 64 disc that I began to separate between the top and the bottom of the layers of plastic around the inner ring. I rarely used the system repair disc (maybe once or twice in the lifetime of the disc). I am extremely careful with my records, in handling and storage. There has never been a problem with all the other drives I've owned or used from any manufacturer, and I am sure that it is the result of a bad seal in the disc manufacturing process. The layers of the disc should not be separate, and I fear that if the disk is necessary once again he may not make it through the next use. As Vista Ultimate was the retail cost of $399 at the time I bought it, the idea of spending more for a copy of the non-defective replace it seems an exorbitant expense given the number of times this record has been used. Is it possible to get a CD-ROM of replacement due to faulty craftsmanship of the original? An Exchange would also perfectly fine with me...

  • Pouvez disk alignment Cause Corruption?

Hello.  I'm not familiar with alignments of disk, but from what I've read they should not be performed on Windows startup Partitions, dynamic disks or partitions with data already.  Is this true?

I have a customer that made the alignments of several windows 2003 disk / guests XenApp 4.5 VM running on VMware with vOptimizer 4 and VM converter.  These servers were already built and in production prior to alignment; I have to check if they are well as dynamic disks.

In any case, now several of the virtual machine appear randomly annihilate most of the files on the C partition and they must rebuild.  The problem is that they are their cloning of images taken after the disk alignment and readers end up getting wiped again.  This corruption could be caused by the alignment of the disc, or is it just a coincidental?

If it's because of the alignment, is there something they can do to correct this?

    Thank you

  • Reservations of the thin disk growing cause SCSI?

In the classic text on the origin of SCSI reservations, it is mentioned actions like adding new VMDK or remove snapshots them or expanding, but not permanent expansion / more and more thin disks. Are there reasons why the expansion of the thin disks does not cause this? If the size of the block VMFS is small that 1 MB the thin vmdk is developed probably quite often when the comments file system develops?

It will take every time she needs to expand a SCSI reserve. Now, with the vsphere advanced locking mechanism a locking mechanism was relaxed if it shouldn\t be too big of a problem. In addition to this you could also, if your table is able, exploit VAAI capacity to unload the lock and do it on a level vs. block data store level.

Yet once, talked with Satyam and you shouldn't be too worried. Especially if you do not overload the table/data store.

  • Defective disk performance

    Hi all

We have the following situation; a VMware ESXi server was a virtual machine installed with CentOS/RHEL.

For security reasons that this virtual machine should be reinstalled, however, we chose to perform a side by side easy migration of data installation.

After that the establishment of the new virtual machine performance of the disc was bad, the new virtual machine has another version of CentOS (5.4 instead of 5.3 compared to the old VM).

I thought it was because of the interaction between two virtual machines, disk after the first, the problem is the deletion occurs.

So I thought; Maybe it's a disk problem, so today, I replaced the drive in order to get a fast machine again.

Due to the replacement of the drive, I had to reinstall ESXi and virtual machine.

Has done this, but the diskperformance is still so bad.

Is there something I'm monitoring here?

The material is defective? (it's a DELL PowerEdge R200, with single drive, no RAID).

Any idea, because I'm going out now

    GR, Mike

I think that this isn't a bad result, it depends on you, disks,

for example, my VM with CentOS 5.4 on HP BL460c G1 with RAID1 on 146 GB SAS drives:

    # hdparm-t/dev/sda

    / dev/sda:

Calendar of the disc in the buffer reads: 106 MB in 3.02 seconds = 35.05 MB / sec

Virtual MACHINE runs on no ESXi 4 update

  • Ghostery causes Soundcloud down

I use the Nightly build that I update daily (Windows 8, 64-bit operating system). I recently installed Ghostery and was just beginning to familiarize myself with it. I asked to block an element Soundcloud to follow-up on a site I frequent. I didn't know if it causes the Soundcloud element do not play but I thought I'd give it a try and if it broke Soundcloud reading then I could track again. Unfortunately, it caused the tab to crash. I uninstalled Ghostery and the site still load without crashing - the Soundcloud plugin (which I think is flash) will take care to half way (there is a progress bar) and then the tab crashes. It occurs only on the exact site where I was when I said Ghostery to block the Soundcloud track point. If I go on Soundcloud.com, I can play anything without an accident occurring. As a first step, it would break even in safe mode. I don't know what changed, but now he will play in safe mode. An update of firefox has not fixed the problem. I guess that somewhere that Ghostery made a change to one of the firefox preference files so that even after that Ghostery has been uninstalled the problem he created is still there? Thanks for any help.

Well, I went on the site just so that I could then go the story and are listed at the top, so I could right click on the entry and chose "to forget about this site" and miraculously the site loaded without crashing. It is the first time in weeks, I was able to load the Web page. So, I don't know if my problem is resolved or not, but I take that as a very good sign. Unfortunately, we never learn the reason behind the problem. Anyway, thanks the help of all the world. I'll be back if the problem reappears.

  • A defective disk cloning

I have a disc that will not go up. If I have clone with a software that can be read and can clone it may ruin a second drive that maybe isn't able to mount too?

    Hi corinne

    More information would be useful.

It is an external drive, I guess. USB/crush?

How it is formatted? OS X journaled? Master Boot Record? NTFS?

What happens when you plug it in? Disk utility launch and say "this disc is unrecognizable...?

How do you intend to "Clone It? Is that in a Bay 2 dock with clone capabilities?

    Other computers recognize the drive?

Once we know more, then we can go from there

  • DaqMX wait the next sample causing slow down Clock.vi

    Hello

I have a question about the proper use of DaqMX wait for next sample clock.

I read channels analog voltage on a map or pcie-6259.

I would like to read as soon as possible make your comments between each of these points of single data points.

I wish I had an error generated if I miss a data point.

From reading the forums, I've gathered that the best way to do it is using the Timed Single Point material.

A simplified program that I use to test this is attached.

If I remove the DaqMX wait for next sample Clock.vi, my program seems to work.

I added a counter to check the total time is as expected.

For example, the program seems to work at the speed appropriate for 120.

However, without that vi, it seems that the program does not generate a warning if I missed a sample.

So I thought that the next sample clock waiting vi could be used to determine if a single data point has been missed using the output "is late."

However, when I add inside as shown in the joint, the program seems to slow down considerably.

At high rates as 120000, I get the error:-209802

14kHz is the approximate maximum rate before you start to make mistakes.

My question is: is this the right way to check a missed sample? I don't understand why the wait next sample Clock.vi is originally a slow down. Without this vi, the program does just what I want except that I do not have strict error control.

My confusion may be based on a lack of understanding of real-time systems. I don't think I do 'real time' as I run on an ordinary pc, so maybe I use some features that I wouldn't.

    Thank you

    Mike

    Mike,

You should be able to read to return delays errors and warnings by setting the DAQmx real-time-> ReportMissedSamp property.  I think that if you enable this, you will see errors or warnings (according to the DAQmx real-time-> ConvertLateErrorsToWarnings) in the case where you use read-only.  I'm a little surprised that you have measured your application works at 120 kHz without waiting for next sample clock (WFNSC), although I'm not surprised that it would be significantly faster.  I think if you call read-only, you'll read the last sample available regardless of whether you would of missed samples or not.  When you call WFNSC, DAQmx will always wait for the next, if you are late or not sample clock.  In this case, you will wait an additional sample clock that is not the case in read-only.  Once again, I expect that, in both cases, your loop would not go to 120 kHz.

Features real-time DAQmx (hardware Timed Single Point - HWTSP) are a set of features that are optimized for a one-time operation, but also a mechanism to provide feedback as to if a request is following the acquisition.  There is nothing inherently wrong with using this feature on a non real-time OS.  However, planner of a non real-time OS is not going to be deterministic.  This means that your app 'real time' may be interrupted for a period not confined while the BONE died in the service of other applications or everything he needs to do.  DAQmx will always tell you if your application is to follow, but can do nothing to guarantee that this will happen.  Thus, your request * must * tolerant bet of this type of interruption.

There are a few things to consider.  If it is important that you perform the action at a given rate, then you should consider using a real-time operating system, or even with an FPGA based approach.  If it is not essential to your system, you might consider using is HWTSP, where you do not declare lack samples (DAQmx simply give you the most recent example), or you could avoid HW timing all together and just use HAVE request to acquire a sample at a time.  What is appropriate depends on the requirements of your application.

    Hope that helps,

    Dan

  • XP Home disk damage causes the intallation caused by unreadable files.

I have a Microsoft XP Home disk that came with my machine a few years ago.

I put a new disc (and liked) in the machine (to perform a particular task) after much hassle and tried to load XP again.

Installation hangs at about a third of the way through and produced errot message saying that it is impossible to read a number of files on the disc. I used the option to skip the file, but once he got to the end and resets, it comes up with the message that it cannot start the operating system then we can assume that missing files are essential. I tried a few times. I have removed the CD and find that there is a circular mark at Midway through the disc. It was not possible to clean it.

I have the product label key stuck to the cellophane packaging that contains the start brochure here.

I have access to another Windows XP Home disc, but it is installed on one of my machines.

I am able to use the other drive, but with the key from the damaged disk or is it possible to get a fresh installation disk or download it?

I am able to use the other drive, but with the key from the damaged disk or is it possible to get a fresh installation disk or download it?

Depends on. If it's a Windows XP OEM pukka drive and not a recovery disk, then Yes you can use it with the product key of the computer. If you find my answer helpful, please click the button "Vote as helpful"! Thank you!
