DeskJet HP 2542: hp 2540 won't print documents from the computer, but test print and network configuration page

My printer hP model 2540 series deskjet A9U27A not print from my computer. It passes over the Network Setup page test, also has good test print. The printer is set up wireless. Have you tried the scan and printing doctor, but it says there is a software problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software with the original disc, then provided with the software most up-to-date of HP. I did this step several times. Tried several drivers. Tried a static IP address. I'm through with this printer. have also tried to this cycle. Also tried to reconfigure the system. Nothing seems to work. NOTE: When I got this printer I got the same problem, but since it was under warranty Hp remotely solved the problem. They said that the issue was the software so they installed a kind of universal software. Can someone get to the challenge to help me solve the problem printer? Thanks in advance for any help.

So after a search much more, someone else came up with a solution to my problem. For windows users, it is a question of the evolution of the drivers. A specifically. The 990c driver. I'm not sure of the exact user or the subject header, but it goes like this for windows vista.

1. click on start

2. click on Control Panel

3. click on printers

4. right click on the printer in question

5 point to run as administrator, and then click Properties

6. click on continue

7. click on advanced

8. click on new driver

9. click on next

10. click on HP under manufacturer

11. under printers, click HP deskjet 990c

12. click on next

13. click on finish

14. click on apply

15. click on ok to close

This is very similar for all windows programs operating.

with a little research, you will be able to find the exact measurements for each operating system

Hope this helps all who have the same problem

Hi Jsinger, hope you had a great weekend!

I recommend to remove the ink cartridges and performing a power reset the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

  • HP Envy 5540: Printer Hp Envy 5540 randomly printed the Network Configuration Page

    Hello!

I bought this printer about a month ago. Set up the connection to the printer wireless with my wifi, and my understanding is that the printer is protected like my wifi and use the same password in order to print something. I kept my printer connected and 'standby mode' since I put in place. The night last at about 23:00 when I was in bed, the printer turned on randomly and printed a "wireless network configuration page" that has had a lot of information, including the IP address and listing my name wifi as well as the names of my neighbors wifi in the surrounding apartments.

I'm trying to understand why this printed, because I certainly did not do. Anyone have access to my wifi, or has someone may simply try to print something and selected my printer as it should appear on the "list available connections on the computer of anyone, given that the printer is turned on? How could they print this sheet of network configuration if my printer is password protected?

I'm mostly concerned about someone who has access to my internet if they could print this page somehow, but maybe it happened just when they tried to connect to it, and it did not work while trying to fix MY printer?

I would appreciate any idea on the issue.

    Thank you!

    Hi @printerprob5540,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I saw your post on how your HP Envy 5540 randomly print a Network Configuration Page. I'm happy to help with this problem!

I find it very strange considering the only way to print the Network Configuration Page, AFAIK, is with the following steps:

    • Make sure that there are size A4 or US Letter, unused, plain paper in the feeder.
    • On the printer Panel, drag the screen to the left and then press Setup.
    • Touch tools.
    • Drag upward on the screen and then tap Network Configuration report.
    • A Network Configuration Page prints up to three pages of information.

  • Model D110a - why do solid when black pages copying or scanning. Printing from the computer works.

Printer all-in-one Photosmart D110A. Printer works OK to computer when printing black and white or in color. But when using the scan or copy feature the printer does a solid black page. This just started recently. If I try to scan a document from the computer, the analysis that results is black Uni. I guess that it is a hardware problem. If this is correct, how can I get it fixed. Who should I call at HP for parts? Can I fix it myself or the printer fatally broken and that I should buy a new printer?

Thank you for all that help you can provide.

It sounds like the scanner lamp turns off.  You can't really repair or replace just the scanner lamp.  The way to resolve this would be to replace the entire printer.  Check your warranty here.  If the warranty is still good, you can join the 1-800-474-6836 technical support in the United States and in Canada, international users click here.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print pdf file

    Hello

I have a HP Deskjet 2540 printer which was working fine until today when I tried to print a PDF on the net.  I get a screen saying it is flattening, and then the printer makes a noise as if it will work and then nothing.  When I check the device, he says that nothing is waiting to print.  When I tried to print it directly from the internet (using Chrome) it just print plain paper!  When I saved the document to PDF and tried to print, nothing like as detailed above.  I am using Winows 7.

    Thank you very much

    Hi Alain,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see you are having a problem printing PDF documents from the internet.
I'll be happy to help you.

I have provided a document through the steps to see if it will solve this problem.

How to print Acrobat .pdf files? Some PDF files cause blank pages being printed.

If you're still having problems, then I would run the updates from Adobe.

    Updates.

If the problem persists, let me know.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums.

  • My printer is skip lines to print documents from my pc but the coppying works

As the topic says my printer is skip lines when I try to print the document from my pc, but coppying documents while the printer is not connected to the pc works perfectly so I would appreciate your help to solve my problem.

P.S. I tried Kaleidoscope twice but it does no effect whatsoever, I am using hp Deskjet 2050 J510 series

This is not usually a symptom of software or programs.  If the ink levels are not accurate in the software of the printer it still would not affect the print quality of which is (the technology is unpredictable sometimes though).

Try a hard reset of the printer, although it is still on and shut down the computer.  When all the powers on back, do a test print.  If printing still only all other lines, follow the document below from four Solution.  Solution Six shows you how to print a test page which will give you a more accurate account of the ink levels.  Once that prints, please tell me what it displays in the form of ink levels and if it shows any other signs of defects.

    Hi @janmoore

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you can not print. I would like to help.

So that I can help you better, I have a few questions.

What is the printer connected to the computer via a wireless network or via a USB cable?

Did you run the HP print and Scan Doctor? (If not, give him a race)

You receive a specific error message?

  • HP Officejet 6500 Paper Out status on the computer but the paper loaded and test page prints

We have a HP 6500 CB815A, which works well for almost a year. As of today, we get "Paper Out" status on the computer, but there is paper loaded in the tray... the same high quality paper as we always use. The test printer utility reports the same status. However, the printer can print a test page and fax without printing problem status.

I unplugged for 30 seconds to reset, but we get the same status.

Someone has had this same problem and solved?

    Thank you

    Dave

If you have not tried to reboot your PC, I would. If this does not clear the issue, I would follow the following steps:

    1. Click Start-> Control Panel
    2. Select uninstall a program (it's the heading programs)
    3. Find your driver HP software; Select it by clicking on it once, then select Edit. If the change is not available, select uninstall/change.
    4. Select repair and then follow the prompts for your software repairs itself.
    5. If your software does not have the repair option, it may be advisable to download the latest drivers from support.hp.com site. Uninstall the drivers for your printer, and then reinstall them using.

If these steps do not work, please post and I can continue further with troubleshooting.

    Good luck

  • I have a hp officejet 4215v all-in-one I can print from my computer, but not for my printer

I'm unable to copy the documents from my printer.  I am able to copy from the computer.  I also can not uninstall and reinstall printer because it does not appear in Add/Remove programs.

I'm sorry you have a problem with the printer.

Do you receive an error message when you try to copy a document from the printer itself?

If you are not able to print/copy of the printer itself, uninstalling and reinstalling will not help. It would be a problem with the hardware with the printer.

Try to print a self-test page or printer the printer status report.

Perform a hard reset. Unplug the power cord at the back. Leave for 30 seconds and plug it back.
